A lot has changed in Don’t Starve since we first became aware of it last June. It has grown from an alpha that was playable through Google Chrome to a full game with mod support on Steam. Yesterday, Klei Entertainment outlined a new roadmap for Don’t Starve that will last through October. Let’s take a look at some of the additions we can look forward too.

There’s a relatively minor game shortage on the Vita. Nothing to worry about, of course, but those of us with Sony’s handheld often experience periods where there’s not much to play. Fortunately, when those big blockbusters are hard to find, there are smaller, bite-sized games to keep people satisfied. Flying Hamster HD is one of those games. It isn’t a huge, sprawling experience, but a game that’s just entertaining enough to keep you busy for a week or so while you wait for something huge to come along.

What to do if PS3 firmware 4.45 left you with a bricked PS3

A cry of anguish has been going out over the internet since the night of June 18, 2013. Sony released PS3 firmware update 4.45. As is usual with an update, legions of PS3 owners downloaded it and found that after the update, they now each owned a shiny, bricked PS3. The systems, whether they had replaced or stock HDDs, were unable to move onto the XMBs after start-up, locked on the wavy-lined loading screen. If you had a hard drive under 500GB, you should have been okay after updating, but it is not yet known the extent of the damage to the systems

E3 2013 Android Amusements: Despicable Me: Minion Rush

Well, this week’s Android Amusements is a day late. Sorry, as it’s all due to E3-ness. Actually, this week’s Android Amusements game is E3 2013 related as well, as I found out about Despicable Me: Minion Rush by playing it at Gameloft’s booth on the show floor. I was lured in by the siren song of two men dressed as adorable Minions, but you can go ahead and be lured in by my report on the game instead.

It’s a very special time in Gru’s Headquarters. It’s time to name the Minion of the Year. All the Minions want that honor, but it can only go to one. Fortunately, it isn’t that difficult to achieve. E3 2013: Atelier Meruru Plus works it on the show floor

Oh Atelier Meruru, truly you are my favorite of the three Arland saga Atelier games. It’s just such a fun balance between kingdom building and alchemy creations. Sure, the recorder music and voice acting can send chills down one’s spine, but the overall game is so lovely that I just didn’t care. Which is why I was so excited to see Tecmo Koei decide to not only bring Atelier Meruru Plus to E3, but have it playable on the show floor. While this sort of game doesn’t lend itself well to brief demos, I still had to give it a try.

The Atelier Meruru Plus demo starts off at pretty much the beginning of the game. Meruru is princess of the Kingdom of Arls, and wants to become an alchemist. Her royal title won’t mean…

E3 2013: Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse relied on cheap shots

I was skeptical about Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse. The fact that the game was being called a reimagining of the classic Genesis game, rather than a remaster like DuckTales Remastered, had me worried. After all, the original game was amazing and a lot of people have fond memories of spending their childhoods at their consoles, playing. You can’t just change a classic like that on a whim. Yet, Sega Studios Australia did and, after playing through the demo level at E3 2013, I’m much more confident about the overall endeavor.

3DS firmware 6.0.0-11 adds Save-Data Backup and Mii Plaza games

We haven’t had a 3DS firmware update in a while, so I guess it’s okay that 3DS firmware 6.0.0-11 has just crashed the scene. I mean, look at it this way. 3DS firmware updates always give us something, rather than take features away. And Nintendo isn’t like Sony, updating the firmware every two months or so, just because. There’s always a reason. So, you’ll be pleased to know that 3DS firmware 6.0.0-11 is a definite improvement.
