Hello,
I guess I'm stupider (if that's a word). I am using wordpress 2.81, my url is creationsbywomen.com/petsox, Pink Orchid theme, and Role Manager and User Community plugins. I can't for the life of me find the "Polls" tab or anything in the sidebar within wp-admin. I have tried deleting and re-installing the plugin twice with no success.

Can you please be more specific as how you were able to fix your problem as you indicated above? mjmitchie said he fixed it but doesn't say how.

I just found another plugin, 'WP Tuner' that is giving me the same error message when I try and update its settings. I'm thinking at this point it is something todo with WP and not the plugins. I'll let you know how it goes with the re-install.

Once I'm employed again I'll make sure and contribute, great app from what I've seen so far!

BTW, I even tried deleting the plugins directory and re-installing the plugins.

Yep, tried that already. It almost appears that it isn't getting access to the database. Is it using a different method of accessing the database during updates than it is when you initially load the record in the wp_options table?

Not sure if this matters but I'm seeing a couple of other things with WP like the Plugins aren't being displayed in the dashboard main screen. Once 'loading...' goes away it doesn't display anything. They also take forever to load once I click on Plugins in the...

Hi Lester,
I am the developer of the plugin Linus was talking about. I took a closer look at you plugin and found the reason why calling the get_most_viewed function corrupts the comment section. Obviously you are changing the global variable $post inside of your functions. While using these functions in your widget does not have any effect on the comments, it is realy messy when someone uses these functions somewhere else.

I made some small modifications on your coding and everything worked ...

Thanks! Was wondering though if there were more variables than 'both' that might work to display just the post title? I'm working with WP_Stats that can be displayed within the blog, so using something like <?php get_mostcommented(); ?>

Read through the topic and tried the header.php and footer.php fix. Looked at source aswell, everything seems in place.

Problem: Nothing happens when I push vote, if I push again, it says my last request is being processed.

sorry, I feel so stupid. I sorted it out now.

In one of the custom widgets (from Janek), I did a get_most_viewed() function call from your plugin, so naturally, once removed, everything works fine.

I guess it is not ok to mix function calls from plugins that easily? Still, it is a bit weird.

I'm very pleased because I like both plugins.

I'm wondering if there's a way to use url paths / links as votes / or to target preselected answers.

What I want to do is promote a poll via an email newsletter.
Form code/ajax in most email readers is a no-no for anti-spam/junk/security settings so I thought to recreate the poll in basic html without <form> tags, but code the individual answers as links.

What I want to happen next is for the link to point to (ideally) a poll results page (as if the user had submitted their vote directly from...

no, no usage of WP-SuperCache.

I installed on another blog (with another theme), both plugs, your WP-postviews AND janeks MCW, and now they both work together, witch is nice. Strange enough, it doesn't matter if I changed to the default theme on the other blog. it still messes with the comments.

I must have scripted on the side somewhere? I don't know?

Erm, I don't remember changing the style of the plugins for verion upgrade. Check the readme.html, the link is there.

Hey, yes I'm sure you are right that it's a conflict between the plugin and my theme.

Problem is I have no idea what to look for in the .css ... and I realise that you are busy, so you don't have the time to hold my hands.

So, is there a place I can just download an older version of Poll, because I know it worked before?!?

Yeah - I see that now. If I modify class-phpmailer.php the changes are reflected in the error message I get from WP-email.

That looks like a problem with your theme to me rather than the plugin, check your poll-style.css or your Poll template in WP-Admin -> Polls -> Polls Template. Or you want to switch to the default theme.
