The shooter shows a cutscene of the protagonists running into what appears to be some shady business. They’re standing in an oriental quarter with bright neon lights everywhere, as the scene shifts focus to the natives.

A mob captures a guy that seems to be missing a part of his face and is showing to be metallic on the inside. They have business with the robot, as they exchange dialog in their native tongue. The robotic man is called a “Hollow Child” and seems to go through an identity crisis when it learns of its unknown metal roots. After that, things go wrong and team Western world chimes in with gunfire. Because that’s what English speaking army men in futuristic body armor do; they shoot things up.

Click here to view the embedded video.

The 5 minute long cutscene depicts a good example of the ethics and tensions Binary Domain will work with. It might remind some of Deus Ex: Human Revolution that also struggled with the morals of humans versus robotics. Binary Domain is coming out this week for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

Konami announced some more info for their properties NeverDead and Birds of Steel. The prior has released its first downloadable content (DLC) as NeverDead Expansion Pack Volume 1. This features a bunch of new content, such as a new character; pop star Nikki Summerfield. Additionally, players will get to enjoy new online capabilities, 3 new challenges in the Asylum level and 2 new outfits for Bryce Boltzmann. One of his characteristics is that he can detach his body parts, so the skins will get scattered with his limbs. In any case, this DLC pack is out now for Playstation 3 with a price tag of €4. Xbox 360 players can download it for 320 Microsoft Points.

NeverDead Expansion Pack Volume 2 will be available next week and will include even more online goodies, characters and challenges. It’s very similar to the first pack and will therefore also have the same price.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Konami has also released a new trailer for Gaijin Entertainment’s Birds of Steel. The video focuses on some of the graphical elements the game has to offer, as well as the game’s planes. There is a whole array of different aircraft roaming the skies and blowing stuff up. It also features large squadrons of planes as well as underlying naval units. As you can imagine, these two go to war and create havoc, such as large explosions and wing amputations. Birds of Steel is scheduled for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 15, 2012.

Namco Bandai has announced more info surrounding its third person shooter Inversion. A trailer was released that showed some gameplay footage from the Team Deathmatch multiplayer mode. A camp of blue humans takes on a pack of red not-so-humans in a heavily volcanic environment. The landscape is made mostly of grayish rocks with lava splurging all over it and an ominous voice dictating progress.

Click here to view the embedded video.

One of the features shown is a way to manipulate this lava into a ball in order to throw it at opponents. Additionally, the game takes a look at some of the differing weapon possibilities as well as the cover system that shows behind cover combat. The behind the shoulder camera seems rather shaky to create an effect of instability, especially when running. This might be to complement the unique physics used in Inversion. By using the Havok Destruction module, also known from Uncharted 3, this game displays a unique way to handle gravity and destructible environments. Throughout the trailer, debris floats away or gets relieved of gravitational pull. In particular, it seems to affect players that get their footing displaced, which might create some innovative gameplay.

The character in the trailer does strike a strong resemblance with inFamous protagonist Cole. Other than that, Namco Bandai is hoping to make a game like no one else has made before. Gravity and direction changing shooters have been attempted before with games like Prey, but the reception to it has been mixed. Prey’s sequel has since done away with the ground-breaking gameplay element.

Version 2 Games has released its debut title Smash ‘N Survive exclusively to the Sony Entertainment Network. It’s one of several vehicular combat titles to come out in recent times, along with Twisted Metal or Wheels of Destruction later this year.

The desaturated fire thing sure is popular these days.

The highly detailed and highly chaotic title will feature 30 concept cars with full customization possibilities. Players will take on 10 different destructible circuits in a singleplayer campaign, but will also be able to play together in multiplayer and splitscreen.

The launch trailer shows off some of the extensive weaponry that can be added to vehicles, as well as the carnage they unleash. Some notable features include a huge buzz saw mounted on the front bumper, lightning, lasers, sonic weapons and more lush exploits. It has a strong vibe of classics like Vigilante 8.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Further on, it also displays its different game modes, such as Plant the Bomb or a Team Derby mode that is reminiscent of another classic: Destruction Derby. These modes are rather self-explanatory, but it will be intriguing to see how the Territory Control mode will work with vehicles.

At the end, an ominous Repulsor weapon is briefly shown blowing away the competition. This might be a pivotal item to acquire in the game. Smash ‘N Survive is available right now on the European network for £9.99/€12.99. Car violence only gets it a moderate rating of ages 7 and up, because killing cars is not that traumatizing.

Nintendo has made a ton of announcements recently. One of them is the release date for the sequel to Inazuma Eleven. European crowds will get to enjoy the newest in football-RPG this March 16, 2012 on the good old fashioned Nintendo DS.

Inazuma Eleven 2 adapts the lucrative Pokémon formula in more ways than one and thus will release in Firestorm and Blizzard format. Both sides will include unique gameplay and characters, with over 150 different people, teams, skills and actions in each version. In all, there will be in excess of 1500 players to meet and recruit to the line-up.

Gameplay will be divided in two parts, one of them being the story-driven section of the game and the other being the soccer matches. By using the stylus, players will be able to control the pitch by manipulating their players, put pressure on the opponent and strike for goals. The story follows goalkeeper Mark Evans and his squad as they try to defeat the ominous Alius Academy and even ultimately try to save the world. Who knew that a bunch of kids playing soccer could save us all?

Multiplayer options will allow players to trade unique content and connect up to 4 players with self-created squads. It will even be able for people with the original Inazuma Eleven to participate. All this separate content and focus on connectivity is even more derived from Pokémon, but we all know that formula works like a charm for the big N.

Games are expensive, but smartphones are even more expensive. That’s why games on smartphones are often cheap, but free games are even cheaper. Don’t Fry The Frog is a new drawing game for all known Apple smart devices. It involves a multitude of touch controls to guide gameplay and uses that to increase the score multiplier for the game. Players can kill 5 different kinds of flies and level up to increase their gaming experience. Additionally, new abilities can be unlocked by earning fly pennies and purchasing things from the Hopshop. It’s all quite topical.

For those that want to brag about their zapping skills, developer Blacktorch Games has also included social integration. Facebook and Twitter shout-outs are possible to pass on high scores. Blacktorch focuses on iOs games to create polished games that they can produce and release to gamers swiftly. You can download Don’t Fry The Frog for free on the App Store here.

Hothead Games, makers of such titles as Deathspank, have created a game for that other format: Android. Sea Stars is a colorful sidescroller that uses one finger to guide a sea creature on. Players can nab coins and other doodads, while avoiding obstacles and nasty prickly things. Releasing the touchscreen makes the swimmer jump up and perform a cute stunt out of the water.

Just in case there are any Korean readers. We got your back.

Gameplay is said to be infinite and players can unlock a set of new characters and levels to play in. Additionally, the game has been localized for Chinese, Korean and Swedish users, although it’s probably a pretty universally understandable title. Sea Stars is also available for free on the Android Market here.

If you’ve been playing Battlefield 3 online since it’s release, you’ve no doubt noticed a huge amount of annoying bugs and glitches. From the extreme damage you’ll suddenly take from dropping down a few feet to the weird deaths happening immediately after spawning, it’s pretty tough to deny that Battlefield 3 is far from a perfectly tested and optimized game.

EA and DICE’s responses to the issues have been fairly weak and poorly planned. After installing representatives on popular forums and sites like Reddit in an attempt to appease the community, the developer ignored most of the advice they received and continued pumping out DLC rather than a much needed bug fix. Today, it appears that DICE is changing their focus and working on the bugs.

At Battlelog, the official blog of the series, EA announced that it’s aware of the issues and that it’s implemented a series of fixes and patches for gamers. The total list of bugs and fixes is hundreds-long and fairly uninteresting, but for most gamers it has one meaning: you’ll no longer be playing a fundamentally broken game.

While it’s a little later than we would have liked, and certainly a follow up to a series of annoying and somewhat arrogant shuns to the gaming community, it’s good to see EA and DICE finally take a more proactive approach to their own community. You can view the entire list of fixes here at EA’s Battlefield blog, as well as a very rough schedule on the latest patch’s release date.

Yes, you read that right – it’s a mod for the original Half-Life, and not its mega-popular sequel. Cry of Fear is a survival horror mod for the original Half-Life that’s been in development since 2008, and it’s just recently been released to the public.

You can check out the mod here on ModDB, and see how immensely popular it’s turning out to be amongst hardcore Half-Life fans. Almost fifteen years after its release, one of the gaming world’s biggest releases still has a pretty solid fan base, and a huge amount of current players. Over fifteen thousand people have downloaded Cry of Fear in the two days since its official release.

Other Half-Life mods are still fairly popular, such as Sven Co-op and the monster-themed Natural Selection. Given the versatility of the game’s engine and some of the awesome graphics people are managing to extract from it, it’s no surprise that some modders are opting for the old school option instead of creating their content using the Half-Life 2 engine exclusively.

SpikySnail Games has announced that it’s bringing The Splatters to Xbox Live Arcade this spring. This physics puzzle game can best be described as a mix of LocoRoco and arcade stunts. Players take a set of weird fluids and try to perform as many crazy antics with them as they can. The game is said to remain as open-ended as possible, leaving level completion up to the imagination.

Gameplay will thrive on skill and determination. Progress will see new elements appear in the puzzles with additional creatures, liquids, stunts and explosions. One of these implementations will be a ‘Flip’ mechanic, which alters the direction of the physics applied in the puzzle.

Stringing together stunts and making a play as creative as possible is rewarded in multiple ways. For one, more flourishing moves will get higher scores and receive cheering adorations from crowds. Additionally, an in-game “Splatter TV” feature will allow players to record their best runs and share them with the world. For those that played EA’s Burnout Crash last year; the arcade style flash and instant gratification look a bit similar to that title.

SpikySnail Games is one of the rare indie development teams to hail from Israel. The Splatters is their first release and has already garnered attention from the indie scene. They were heralded finalists at the Independent Games Festifal (IGF), Indie Game Challenge and PAX 10.

THQ is continuing its use of the WWE license. This time the publisher has recreated the classic arcade game Wrestlefest for iPad and iPhone devices. The wrestling title is completely recreated for the modern touchscreens and can be operated with simulated arcade buttons. Its adapted graphics are now more cartoon-based with added effects and brighter colors, but still retains the 2D sprite charm.

Writers have come up with an entirely new storyline for the game. Just like in WWE 12, this brawler will feature the Road to WrestleMania, which tracks the progress of a player’s athlete. Many current superstars have been added to the line-up, but WWE Wrestlefest will also contain WWE legends. Stone Cold, John Cena and the late “Macho Man” Randy Savage are but some of the names in the current line-up. Superstars like CM Punk, Triple H and that pasty Irish bloke Sheamus will get added post-release in the planned downloadable content program.

WWE Wrestlefest will include a select amount of playing styles, such as Royal Rumble, Tag Team, Gauntlet and Steel Cage in all the well-known arenas of the WWE brand. Later DLC will also unlock the Survivor Series mode. A small feature reel has been sent out by THQ, which we’ll post below.

Newly dubbed “core games” vice president Danny Bilson stated: “The game’s arcade-style play, combined with present day WWE content and hints of nostalgia, is a perfect fit for the […] iPhone and iPad.” WWE Wrestlefest is available right now in the App store at $2.99 for iPhone and $3.99 for iPad. While it’s currently exclusive, development is said to take place for every major platform, including an Android port. These transitions are still booked to come out this year.
