Spider-Man is historically one of the most popular superheroes in history, and the films and shows that have been released in the Spider-Man universe have been highly rated among fans.

We are all getting excited for the Prime series Spider-Noir, out this May; Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day, out this July; and the animated trilogy finale Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, due to hit screens in June 2027, but according to Spider-Noir co-showrunner Oren Uziel, there are several more unannounced Spider-Man variant projects in the works.

Uziel explained in the new issue of SFX Magazine, which hits newsstands on April 22nd:

"I’m focused on Spider-Noir, but I know there are others in the works. I’ve talked a bit to the people working on them and I think they are very exciting. They’re following a little bit of that same formula [as Spider-Noir], that same idea of taking a genre and elevating it by putting a Spider-variant into it. It opens up a whole new world, and it’s just an extremely exciting opportunity."

Uziel didn't reference any specific projects in his interview, but he could be referencing one of the spin-offs that have been in development for a while. One of these is the Spider-Punk movie, which was first announced in 2025 with Daniel Kaluuya attached. There have been rumors for a while that a Spider-Gwen movie is also in development at Sony.

Ralph Fiennes played one of the biggest villains in literary/film history across the Harry Potter films, and as the casting announcements rolled out for the new HBO series, the role of Voldemort has been left unfilled.

Many speculated as to whether it meant Fiennes could be stepping back into the robes of the powerful wizard, seeing as how actor Warwick Davis is returning to play Professor Flitwick. It didn’t seem out of the question to assume, but Fiennes is setting the record straight.

During a recent appearance on The Claudia Winkleman Show, Fiennes was questioned about HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter series and the rumors surrounding who will take on the role of the Dark Lord. He explained:

“I remember being asked the question once we’d shot the total film series, would I reprise the part, and this was some years ago. I said, ‘Yes, I’d love to.' But then nothing’s happened and I think that ship has sailed. But I’ll tell you, Tilda Swinton was mentioned somewhere as being a contender, and I think she would be amazing.”

Swinton’s name has been among those rumored for the part alongside Cillian Murphy, though the Oppenheimer and Peaky Blinders star recently shut down the rumors. “I don’t know anything about that,” Murphy said on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast. “Also, it’s just really hard to follow anything Ralph Fiennes does. The man is an absolute acting legend, so good luck to whoever’s gonna fill those shoes.”

Fiennes had also previously endorsed Murphy for the role, telling Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live in December 2024, “Cillian is a fantastic actor. That’s a wonderful suggestion. I would be all in favor of Cillian. Yeah.”

So we will just have to wait and see who gets cast, and if they can fill the shoes of Ralph Fiennes. The first season of HBO’s Harry Potter series is set to premiere this Christmas.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is pulling off another big swing with Avengers: Doomsday, and after stepping away following Avengers: Endgame, Joe Russo and Anthony Russo are back in the director’s chair, and now we’ve got a clearer idea why.

It all comes down to one character they couldn’t walk away from, Steve Rogers. Joe Russo recently opened up about what brought them back into the MCU fold, and he said it was about picking up a thread they weren’t ready to leave behind.

"[Steve Rogers] was a character we spent a lot of time with over the years," Joe Russo told Fandango after CinemaCon's big Avengers: Doomsday trailer reveal.

"It just felt to us like the correct way for us to come back would be to continue that story of that character [and] to work with [Robert Downey Jr.] again, and to move the story forward.

“I think that's the thing that really excited all of us: we found a path forward that really was integral, really required both Chris and Robert for the story to be told."

That’s an interesting statement, especially considering how definitively Steve Rogers’ story seemed to wrap in Endgame. But, Marvel clearly isn’t done with him yet.

The Russos have a long history with Chris Evans, dating back to Captain America: The Winter Soldier, then Captain America: Civil War, and culminating in both Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. They helped shape Cap into one of the emotional anchors of the MCU, so if anyone’s going to bring him back in a meaningful way, it’s them.

And Marvel isn’t being subtle about it either. The first teaser for Doomsday puts Steve Rogers front and center, showing him back home, holding his child. Then in the CinemaCon footage we see he has a significant role, even reconnecting with Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth.

That suggests we’re getting more than a reflective epilogue for Cap. This sounds like a full-on return to action.

Of course, let’s not pretend passion was the only factor here. Marvel reportedly dropped a massive payday to bring the Russos back, with numbers floating around $80 million. They’re not talking about it publicly, but it’s hard to ignore that kind of incentive. Still, money alone doesn’t crack the story. If they’re back, it’s because they found something worth telling.

The cast for Doomsday is shaping up to be massive. Alongside Evans, you’ve got returning Avengers, newer heroes, and even legacy X-Men characters stepping into the mix.

All of this points to Avengers: Doomsday being one of Marvel’s biggest movie events yet, and anchoring it all around Steve Rogers again gives it a strong emotional core that longtime fans can latch onto.

Whether you’re excited about Cap’s return or a little skeptical about seeing him return, one thing is clear. The Russos didn’t come back just to revisit old ground. They’re aiming to push things forward, and if they pull it off, Doomsday could end up being something pretty awesome.

The Thomas Crown Affair is expected to follow in the footsteps of its predecessors, both the 1968 original and the sleek 1999 remake, which center on a wealthy, thrill-seeking mastermind who orchestrates an elaborate robbery, only to face off against an equally sharp investigator in a tense game of pursuit and attraction.

The movie stars Michael B. Jordan, Adria Arjona and Kenneth Branaugh.

The screenplay was written by Drew Pearce, with earlier drafts by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson, and the project is based on the original film by Alan Trustman, who also serves as executive producer. Charles Roven, the Oscar-winning producer behind The Dark Knight and Oppenheimer, is also on board.

The Thomas Crown Affair will be hitting theaters March of 2027.

It’s kind of crazy to think about now, but there was a time when comic book movies didn’t have Hollywood studios throwing money at them. They just had no interest in them and didn’t think they had a future.

With the Marvel Cinematic Universe dominating theaters and projects like Avengers: Doomsday on the horizon, Things have certainly changed and they are more of a safe bet. That wasn’t the case back in 2000 when X-Men was gearing up for release, though.

In fact, according to former chairman and CEO of Fox Filmed Entertainment, Bill Mechanic, the people at 20th Century Fox weren’t exactly confident in what Bryan Singer was making.

Mechanic, who was at Fox from 1996 to 2000, opened up about the studio’s reaction during an interview. What he described sounds almost unbelievable considering how things turned out.

“They saw it and thought it was a disaster—why would anybody make a Marvel comic into a movie?”

Yeah… that outlook aged interestingly.

At the time, Mechanic was already on his way out after a string of internal frustrations, and the negative reaction to X-Men didn’t help.

The film wasn’t viewed as a potential franchise starter or a cultural turning point. If anything, it was seen as a risky experiment based on material executives didn’t take seriously.

Of course, we all know what happened next. X-Men hit theaters and it blew up at the box office, and it helped reshape the entire industry. The film laid the groundwork for modern superhero storytelling and kicked off a franchise that would go on to pull in nearly $6 billion worldwide.

That success played a huge role in paving the way for everything that followed, including the rise of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Now, fast forward to today, and the X-Men are once again at the center of massive anticipation. Ever since The Walt Disney Company acquired 21st Century Fox in 2019, fans have been waiting to see mutants fully integrated into the MCU.

That moment is getting closer, with projects like Avengers: Doomsday expected to finally bring those worlds together in a big way.

Marvel isn’t stopping there either. A full X-Men reboot is already in development, with Jake Schreier, known for Thunderbolts, attached to direct. The film likely won’t arrive until after Avengers: Secret Wars, which is currently slated for December 2027, but it’s clearly a major priority moving forward.

And you can bet the mindset at Disney is very different from what Fox was thinking back in 2000.

After nearly 15 years steering one of the most powerful tech companies on the planet, Tim Cook is officially stepping down as CEO of Apple Inc..

The company confirmed that John Ternus, currently senior vice president of hardware engineering, will take over the top job starting September 1. Cook isn’t disappearing though, he’ll transition into the role of executive chairman of Apple’s board.

That new position will keep him very much in the mix, especially on the global stage. According to the announcement, Cook will continue engaging “with policymakers around the world.” In other words, he’s shifting from running Apple’s day-to-day operations to playing a more political and strategic role behind the scenes.

Apple also shared a public letter from Cook, where he reflected on his time with the company and gave a strong endorsement of his successor.

He wrote that Ternus has shown deep dedication to Apple over the past 25 years and said the company “will reach such incredible heights under his leadership” that “you will feel his impact in every bit of delight and discovery that grows out of the products and services to come.”

Cook’s run as CEO began in 2011, when Steve Jobs personally chose him to take over shortly before his passing. At the time, Cook had already built a reputation as Apple’s operational mastermind, transforming its supply chain into a global powerhouse. Under his leadership, Apple exploded in value, becoming a $4 trillion giant.

His tenure has been anything but smooth sailing. Taking over from Jobs was a massive challenge on its own, and Cook had to navigate ongoing political and economic pressure, especially during the Trump administrations.

He approached leadership differently, never trying to replicate Jobs’ product-first style or the design-driven vision of Jony Ive. Instead, Cook leaned into what he does best, operations, scale, and strategy. He stuck to Jobs’ advice and avoided asking, “What would Steve Jobs do?”

Even without that product-first identity, Cook oversaw some major releases that shaped modern Apple. Bigger-screen iPhones kicked off with the iPhone 6 Plus, and entirely new categories like the Apple Watch and AirPods became staples of everyday tech life.

Not everything landed the way Apple hoped. The Apple Vision Pro hasn’t yet lived up to its “spatial computer” ambition, especially at its steep price point. The long-rumored Apple Car never made it to the finish line, and augmented reality products remain more promise than reality for now.

One of Cook’s biggest impacts came from expanding Apple’s services ecosystem. Over the years, the company rolled out Apple TV, Apple Music, Apple News, and Apple Fitness+, all of which helped lock users deeper into Apple’s ecosystem. That strategy turned services into a major revenue stream and reshaped how people interact with Apple products daily.

The leadership shake-up doesn’t stop with Ternus. Johny Srouji, previously senior vice president of hardware technologies, has been promoted to chief hardware officer. Srouji played a key role in developing Apple’s custom silicon, starting with the A4 chip and leading to breakthroughs like the M1, which allowed Apple to move away from Intel and build some of the most powerful laptops on the market.

As for Ternus’s previous role, Tom Marieb will step in as the new senior vice president of hardware engineering. He’ll report directly to Srouji as Apple continues to double down on its in-house technology.

This is a huge shift for Apple. Cook’s era defined the company in ways that go far beyond products, and now all eyes are on Ternus to see how he shapes the next chapter.

Whether that means doubling down on hardware innovation or pushing into new territory, one thing’s clear, Apple is entering a brand-new phase.

A new leak tied to Spider-Man: Brand New Day has fans doing double takes, as it may offer the first glimpse of Sadie Sink stepping into the role of Jean Grey. The image also features Jon Bernthal’s Punisher right beside her.

This project has already had its fair share of leaks. A trailer surfaced online months ahead of schedule, along with promo art and an image of Tombstone gripping Spider-Man by the throat.

As for this new image, multiple sources and trusted social media insiders insist it’s legitimate. According to The Cosmic Circus insider Alex Perez, he’s seen an earlier version of this exact shot. That sighting led him to initially believe Sink might be playing Typhoid Mary instead. With this new context, the assumption has shifted.

What’s catching attention is Sink’s costume. The green and yellow look strongly resembles Jean Grey’s classic Marvel Girl outfit. That said, it seems unlikely she’ll fully suit up as Jean Grey until Marvel Studios rolls out its planned X-Men reboot in 2028.

It’s really interesting that Marvel is introducing Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and I’m curious to see how her story arc plays out and how it will set up what’s coming in the future.

So how do we know if this image is the real deal? The answer might come down to Sony Pictures’ reaction. If takedowns start hitting social media, that’s usually a strong sign. On the flip side, there’s always the possibility the studio is letting it circulate on purpose. Keeping the film in the spotlight without spending a dime on marketing isn’t exactly a bad strategy.

Leaks like this have become more common lately. There were even those “AI” images tied to Avengers: Doomsday floating around, featuring Doctor Doom and Steve Rogers, which later turned out to be legit after CinemaCon revealed Doom’s updated suit.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day picks up after the massive fallout of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Four years have passed, and Peter Parker is now completely on his own. With the world having forgotten him, he’s dedicated himself entirely to being Spider-Man. But that commitment comes at a cost.

As the pressure builds, Peter begins to experience a mysterious physical change that could threaten everything. At the same time, a surge in crime introduces a dangerous new enemy into the mix.

The film brings back Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, and adds Bernthal, Sink, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo to the lineup.

It’s directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, with a script from Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Producing duties fall to Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Rachel O’Connor.

Whether this leaked image is real or not, it’s doing exactly what leaks tend to do, getting fans talking and speculating about where the story is headed next.

Out of all the villains lurking in Gotham’s rogues gallery, Clayface getting a solo movie feels like a deep cut pick. Not exactly the first name that comes to mind when you think “spinoff potential.”

But, that unpredictability is exactly what makes this project so fascinating. DC Studios is clearly taking some swings right now, and if this first trailer is any indication, Clayface isn’t just another comic book movie, it’s something way stranger and darker.

The first trailer for Clayface, directed by James Watkins, leans hard into unsettling territory. Under the leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran, DC Studios is steering this project straight into body horror.

Think less traditional superhero action and more along the lines of something you’d expect from David Cronenberg. It’s creepy, unsettling, and kind of awesome.

The footage puts Tom Rhys Harries front and center as the tragic figure at the heart of it all. There’s a strong sense that this version of Clayface won’t just be a villain, he’s going to be something more layered, slowly pulling himself out from under Batman’s shadow to stand on his own.

There’s this haunting track playing throughout, paired with sharp, almost jarring cuts that hit like a record scratch every time the scene shifts.

Some glimpses hint at a happier past, while others dive straight into the horrific transformation, showing just how far things spiral. It creates a rhythm that keeps you locked in while everything onscreen gets more disturbing.

We also get a quick tease of Clayface’s iconic club fist attack, but it’s shown as a shadow. It’s just enough to hint at what’s coming without fully revealing the creature design. The full, grotesque version of the character is clearly being saved for later, and that restraint actually makes the trailer more effective.

The film also stars Naomi Ackie, with a script from Mike Flanagan, who’s known for weaving horror with strong emotional storytelling. That combination alone makes this feel like something different within the DC lineup.

Clayface hits theaters on October 23, and it already looks like it’s leaning all the way into its horror roots. I’m excited about this! With the script coming from Mike Flanagan, this is gonna have a great story!

A cool new clip has been released from the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, featuring Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) reteaming after their days as Defenders over at Netflix. In the video, shared by ComicBook, we get to see the pair taking down a group of guys in a warehouse that are from Wilson Fisk’s Anti-Vigilante Task Force.

Daredevil: Born Again will finally tell us what Jessica has been doing since Jessica Jones Season 3. Like all Marvel Netflix shows, this was actually set before Thanos’ snap, meaning it’s been nine years in-universe since we last saw her on-screen.

When we last saw Jessica, she had returned to helm Alias Investigations, and she was one of the few vigilantes to be widely embraced by New York.

There was also an exciting dynamic between Jessica and Mike Colter’s Luke Cage; the two have a child together in the comics. It will be thrilling to see how their relationship has developed in the MCU as well.

The first six episodes of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 are available on Disney+, and the final two episodes will be released on April 28th and May 5th. Check out the clip below:

DC Studios shared the first poster for Clayface, and it’s exactly as unsettling as fans were hoping. The image leans hard into full-on body horror, showing what looks like Matt Hagen mid-transformation, his face stretching and melting into something far from human.

It’s a creepy visual and it sets the tone for what’s shaping up to be a seriously dark entry in the DCU.

The film is being positioned as DC’s first R-rated horror project, and the premise makes it clear they’re not playing it safe.

According to the official synopsis, "Clayface tells the terrifying descent into hell of a promising Hollywood actor who has become a monster driven by revenge."

The movie digs even deeper into the psychological side of things. The story is described as, "An intense story that explores the loss of identity and humanity, the ravages of toxic love and the dark side of scientific ambition," which gives this a tragic, character-driven core beneath all the nightmare fuel.

The movie wasn’t part of the original DCU rollout back in 2023, but it found its way onto the slate as James Gunn looked to balance out bigger projects with smaller, more experimental films. While titles like The Authority and Swamp Thing hit delays, this one pushed forward and carved out its own lane.

The project originally was pitched by Mike Flanagan, who mapped out an early version of the story and wrote the script, but things evolved from there. The current version brings in writer Hossein Amini and director James Watkins, a pairing that leans heavily into grounded, intense storytelling.

Star Max Minghella previously shared his enthusiasm for the project, saying, "I'm really enjoying working on the movie. It's a tremendous collection of people making it. James Watkins is directing it. I've been a fan of his forever. He did a film called Eden Lake, and that was a movie that really affected me for quite a while when I first saw it."

He continued, "Hossein Amini is doing a pass on the script, who I actually produced a movie with and directed many years ago. We have a very personal connection.

“Rob Hardy is shooting it, and he's an extraordinary cinematographer who I've long admired. To get to play with these amazing people in the world of Gotham is very fun. I'm really enjoying it, and I hope people will like it when it comes out."

Eddie Marsan also weighed in on what audiences can expect, saying, "James is a wonderful director, and I think Tom is an incredible actor. You're going to see an amazing performance."

That “Tom” is Tom Rhys Harries, who’s stepping into the role of Matt Hagen. He’s joined by Marsan, Minghella, and Naomi Ackie, though details on their characters are still under wraps.

Right now, all eyes are on the trailer, which is expected to drop very soon. If DC sticks to its usual rollout timing, it could land within the next day. If the footage matches the energy of this poster, we’re in for something seriously intense.

Warner Bros. looks like it’s digging back into its vault of classic creature features, and this time it’s going big. A remake of the 1954 sci-fi horror staple Them! is in the works, and the latest update suggests the studio may be circling a fast-rising star to lead the charge.

The project has been developing for a while now, with Matt Reeves producing and Michael Giacchino stepping in as director. Giacchino, who made his directing debut with Werewolf by Night, has reportedly been meeting with writers as the film slowly moves closer to becoming a reality.

The original Them! is a full-on monster movie classic. It follows a terrifying chain reaction sparked by nuclear testing in the New Mexico desert, which leads to the creation of massive, flesh-hungry ants.

What starts as a strange local mystery quickly spirals into a nationwide threat, eventually leading to an intense showdown beneath Los Angeles. It’s one of those films that perfectly captured Cold War paranoia while delivering some seriously memorable creature chaos.

Giacchino’s involvement makes this remake even more interesting. While most fans know him for his Oscar-winning work on Up, his résumé of composing musical scores is packed with major franchises like Spider-Man: No Way Home, Star Trek, The Batman, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

He’s got a strong grasp on tone and scale, and he’s also expected to handle the score for Them! himself, much like he did with Werewolf by Night and other projects. That combination could give the film a distinct identity that leans into both horror and blockbuster spectacle.

According to insider DanielRPK, the filmmakers are reportedly eyeing Glen Powell for the lead role. Powell has been on a serious run lately with projects like Top Gun: Maverick, Twisters, and The Running Man, proving he can carry big, high-energy films.

That said, it’s important to keep expectations in check. As reported, “eyeing” doesn’t mean a deal is in place or even being negotiated yet. It simply means he’s on their radar.

Still, if Powell does end up signing on, it seems like it would be a great project for him. I’m actually pretty excited to see how this project comes together.

Fans have been waiting a long time to hear something solid about I Am Legend 2, and now there’s finally a real update worth getting excited about. After years of talk, rumors, and half-confirmed developments, the sequel to the 2007 post-apocalyptic hit is officially moving forward.

With Will Smith and Michael B. Jordan attached to star, the project has now taken a big step by locking in its director.

Filmmaker Steven Caple Jr. has confirmed that he’s directing I Am Legend 2 for Warner Bros., sharing the news during a press tour for his upcoming Netflix series Man on Fire.

Caple Jr. brings solid franchise experience to the table. He previously helmed Creed II and Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, so he has experience handling large-scale storytelling while still keeping characters at the center.

He also already has a working relationship with Michael B. Jordan, which should make their collaboration here even stronger.

The sequel was first announced back in 2022, but updates have been inconsistent until now. With a director confirmed, things are clearly starting to line up behind the scenes. Jordan will star alongside Smith, who led the original film as Robert Neville, the lone survivor navigating a virus-ravaged New York City.

One of the most interesting creative decisions is how the story will continue. Instead of following the theatrical ending of I Am Legend, where Neville dies, the sequel will build off the alternate ending.

That version reveals that the infected aren’t just mindless creatures, shifting the entire perspective of the story. It also lines up more closely with Richard Matheson’s original 1954 novel, opening the door for Neville’s journey to continue in a way that fans haven’t seen on screen before.

Writer Akiva Goldsman, who worked on the first film, is also back and has teased where things could go next. He explained, “This will start a few decades later than the first,” adding a glimpse of a world that’s changed dramatically over time.

He continued, “You see how the earth reclaims the world, and there’s something beautiful in the question of, as man steps away from being the primary tenant, what happens?”

That idea paints a pretty compelling picture. A reclaimed, overgrown New York City mixed with the evolving nature of the infected could give this sequel a very different tone while still staying rooted in what made the original memorable.

There’s still no release date locked in for I Am Legend 2, but for the first time in a while, this project feels like it’s actually moving forward.

Marvel Studios is gearing up to return to one of its most fascinating characters with VisionQuest, the upcoming Disney+ series that continues the story threads left hanging after WandaVision.

While fans might expect another dive into trippy realities and high-concept sci-fi, new details suggest something much more personal is at the heart of the show.

A recent report sheds light on the direction of VisionQuest, and it sounds like the series is leaning heavily into emotional territory, specifically exploring the complicated bond between fathers and sons.

During a Discord Q&A, scooper Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus offered insight into what audiences can expect. When asked about the story, Perez explained, “A fantastic story of an AI trying to humanize itself. But more than that, it’s a story of fathers and sons, and it’s really sentimental.”

That angle lines up with what was shown during the exclusive New York Comic-Con 2025 trailer. The footage reportedly follows Paul Bettany’s Vision wandering through a surreal digital landscape, coming face-to-face with remnants of Stark tech and, most notably, James Spader’s Ultron. Their connection looks like it will drive the narrative in a big way.

Ultron, Vision’s creator, seems to play both antagonist and twisted parental figure. In the trailer, Ultron delivers some haunting lines to Vision, saying:

“You’re a ghost haunting your own footsteps” and “Vision, you have all these tangled strings.” The dynamic gets even more layered when Ultron brings up Vision’s own child, Tommy Maximoff, played by Ruaridh Mollica. Watching him on a monitor, Ultron mockingly celebrates, “Mazel tov! It’s a boy!”

The first clip from The Mandalorian and Grogu has landed, and while it leans into Grogu being an adorable little menace, there’s actually a lot more going on under the surface.

Between the chaos, a captured warlord, and some interesting location hints, this footage is seems to be setting up something much bigger for the future of the franchise.

The clip was unveiled by Jon Favreau during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, giving fans their latest look at the next chapter of Din Djarin and Grogu’s story. While recent trailers confirmed Pedro Pascal’s Din is tracking down a mysterious Imperial warlord played by Jonny Coyne, this new footage adds a surprising twist. They’ve already caught him.

The scene itself plays things light. Grogu tries to help Din and Zeb escape from Imperial Remnant forces, and as expected, his version of “help” creates more problems than solutions. It’s fun, exciting, and clearly designed to get a wider audience hooked on the film’s charm. But underneath that humor is a pretty major reveal.

Din and Zeb aren’t chasing the warlord anymore. They’ve got him in custody. That detail alone shifts the perspective on what the story might actually be.

If the target has already been captured, then the real conflict likely comes from what happens next. And that’s where things get interesting.

The setting of the clip appears to match Adelphi, a known New Republic base in the Outer Rim. If that’s true, it supports the idea that the Empire isn’t just hiding in the shadows anymore. Up to now, the Empire has been playing the long game, operating quietly and letting New Republic leadership believe the threat had faded. A direct move against a major base would completely change that dynamic.

It also lines up with where the larger story is headed following Ahsoka Season 1. The return of Grand Admiral Thrawn already hinted that bigger conflicts are on the horizon. Thrawn isn’t the kind of strategist who sits back and waits, and his presence alone signals that the Empire is preparing to make serious moves again.

That puts The Mandalorian and Grogu in an interesting position. It’s being framed as a standalone adventure, but it’s clearly laying the groundwork for a much larger war.

There’s also a fun deeper cut here for longtime fans. The idea of the Empire launching a counterattack calls back to a line from the 2002 novel Destiny's Way by Walter Jon Williams. In that story, Imperial leader Gilad Pellaeon delivers a line that still sticks with fans: “The Empire will always strike back.”

The upcoming Masters of the Universe movie looks like something longtime fans of the franchise have been waiting decades to see.

See these cartoon accurate characters in action is really cool and, it’s clear this wasn’t going to be a loose reinterpretation. It looked and felt like the cartoon and toys I grew up with and were dropped onto the big screen.

Now, director Travis Knight is opening up about just how far that commitment goes and where the film draws the line between nostalgia and modern filmmaking.

Knight didn’t approach this reboot as a reinvention. Instead, he treated the original Filmation series as a creative compass. When the team hit a fork in the road, they kept circling back to what made the original so iconic.

As Knight explained: “Generally, I was always telling the guys like whenever we were at some kind of a crossroads, just go back to the source.

“Even though we take liberties for some of that stuff, and we want to make things look modern and cinematic, we always went back to the Filmation cartoon.

“So there are a lot of nods, the color palette, actually, when Adam transforms for the first time, we see the spirit of Grayskull right behind him.

“It’s kind of a blink and you’ll miss it moment, but it’s there. And like, I think that level of kind of devotion to the original source material is something you’ll find all throughout the whole movie,” Knight said.

That approach shows up everywhere. The color palette, the silhouettes, even tiny visual details are designed to trigger that nostalgic connection.

Fans who grew up with Prince Adam and Skeletor should feel right at home spotting those subtle callbacks.

One of the biggest wins so far has been the costume design. Characters like Skeletor, Man-At-Arms, Teela, and Trap Jaw all look like they walked out of the animated series, but with enough texture and realism to work in live-action.

Knight talked about that process, saying: “In some cases, we were pretty faithful to that stuff. In other cases, it didn’t kind of make sense for the overall design that we were bringing to the movie.

“You know, for instance, you can see with He-Man, there was a lot of debate going on in the art department, in the production design team, in the costume department, like, can we really have a guy with like, furry hot pants and furry boots? And we couldn’t do that,” Knight said.

They actually tried different directions before landing on something that worked.

“We thought about it for a moment, but then we explored like, okay, what if we go somewhere else? And then there was like a leather trousers moment where he looked like Jim Morrison.

“And so ultimately, we landed on something that was evocative of the original He-Man costume, but also just brought it to a modern era.

“So he’s got like a gladiator skirt instead of the furry knickers. It’s still got the same silhouette, but it’s just got a different prism attached to it.”

That’s a change that makes sense. The essence of He-Man is still there, but the updated design feels like it belongs in a big-budget fantasy film instead of a direct translation from ‘80s animation.

What’s becoming clear is that Masters of the Universe isn’t trying to distance itself from its roots. It’s embracing them, just with a modern lens. That balance could be exactly what the franchise needs to finally land a live-action version that clicks with both longtime fans and newcomers.

With the film set to hit theaters on June 5, 2026, we won’t have to wait much longer to see if this version of Eternia delivers on that promise.

If the numbers hold true, this upcoming MCU event film could end up as the most expensive production Marvel or Disney has ever put together, and that’s saying a lot considering the studio’s track record.

According to a new report, the cumulative budget for Avengers: Doomsday would make it the most expensive movie ever produced by Marvel Studios or Disney. That’s a huge claim, but the details paint a pretty wild picture.

On his YouTube show, John Campea shared what he’s been hearing behind the scenes, saying the film’s production budget is sitting around $400 million. That figure might not even include potential reshoots, which Marvel films are known for. On top of that, the studio is reportedly preparing to drop another $300 million just on marketing.

If those numbers are accurate, Marvel is looking at a total investment in the neighborhood of $700 million. That means the film would likely need to pull in at least $1.5 billion worldwide just to break even.

That sounds like a tall order, but history suggests it’s not out of reach. Both Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame pulled in massive global numbers, with Endgame alone becoming one of the highest-grossing films of all time.

The first trailer for Coyote vs. ACME is here, and it feels like a small miracle. After years of uncertainty and industry drama, the live-action/animation hybrid is officially heading to theaters on August 28.

Will Forte leads the human cast as Coyote’s lawyer, going up against John Cena as opposing counsel. The script from Samy Burch leans into the absurdity, blending legal drama with classic cartoon chaos. And yes, familiar faces like Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck pop up alongside some deeper-cut characters from the franchise.

As you know, the film was originally made for HBO Max and reportedly cost around $70 million to produce. Then in 2023, Warner Bros. shelved it entirely during a major shift in strategy under CEO David Zaslav.

It joined other canceled projects like Batgirl and Scoob! Holiday Haunt, sparking a lot of backlash since Coyote vs. ACME was already completely finished.

That decision didn’t sit right with a lot of people, and now we’re seeing that the movie actually looks like a blast. This movie should never should have been tossed aside in the first place.

The idea that Warner Bros. was ready to dump a film like this that actually looks good is kind of crazy, and now that it’s getting a real release, I hope it hits big at the box office just to prove how big of a mistake WB made.

Thankfully, 2025, Ketchup Entertainment stepped in and picked up the film for around $50 million, giving it a second life with a full theatrical rollout. It’s the kind of turnaround you don’t see very often, especially for a project that was essentially locked away.

Forte has stayed vocal about how much he believes in the project, and the trailer leans into the ridiculous premise while still treating the courtroom angle seriously enough to make it work. It looks like the kind of offbeat comedy that could really connect if audiences give it a shot.

There’s something satisfying about seeing a project survive this kind of situation and still make it to the big screen. Now it just needs to stick the landing when it finally hits theaters.

The long-awaited reboot of Highlander is shaping up to be something pretty wild, and fans of the original cult classic might want to brace themselves.

The film also has a lot of room to explore its mythology. Cavill is stepping into the role of Connor MacLeod, a character who has lived for centuries. Even though the story is set in the present day, that opens the door for sequences that jump across different time periods, showing how this immortal warrior evolved through history.

I love that Stahelski is shifting his focus to Highlander as it gives him a new sandbox to play in while still delivering the kind of action fans expect from him.

The cast backing this up also includes Russell Crowe, Karen Gillan, and Dave Bautista. If this reboot lands the way it’s aiming to, it could easily kick off a whole new franchise. Video game adaptations are on a serious roll right now. Between the breakout success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie and the massive fan response to Fallout and The Last of Us on TV, Hollywood has finally started to crack the code.

But, according to Paul W. S. Anderson, some filmmakers are still skipping a pretty crucial step when bringing games to the screen… actually playing them.

Anderson has been living in the video game movie trenches for decades. He’s directed films based on franchises like Resident Evil, Mortal Kombat, and Monster Hunter, so he knows what it’s like to translate interactive chaos into a cinematic experience, even if his films aren’t that great. And apparently, he’s stunned that some directors take on these projects without ever touching a controller.

Speaking on the Post Games podcast, Anderson said: "I think it's important for me to be a fan. You know, it always shocks me when directors give interviews and they're doing a video game movie and go, 'well, I never played the game.'

“Like, that's outrageous! You know, would you adapt War and Peace and say, 'you know, I never read the book: I've got the script, it's fine, I shot that, the book I'm not interested in.'"

He’s got a point. You wouldn’t adapt a novel without reading it, so why treat a game any differently?

For Anderson, it’s not just about knowing the plot. It’s about respecting the people who’ve poured hours into these worlds.

As he explained, he feels "like it's doing a disservice to the people who love the game and have invested many hours and days and months of their time into this world for you to ignore it."

What really matters to him is capturing what he calls the “aesthetic” and the overall feel of the experience.

He doesn’t just expect that commitment from himself. He makes it a rule on set. "I always make sure the production designers I work with play the game or watch playthroughs of the game, so they know what it looks like, and the director of photography knows how the camera moves," Anderson explained.

He added, "All of those things are present in my movies because they're present in the games that I've adapted. I make sure the entire crew are immersed with all of that as well, so if you're a fan of the game you really feel like the DNA of the game is built into the film you're watching. I think that buys you a lot of goodwill."

That idea of embedding the “DNA” of the game into the movie is interesting, especially when you look at the mixed reactions to the Resident Evil franchise over the years.

I’ve always thought Anderson’s 1995 Mortal Kombat nailed the arcade-style energy and camp of the source material. The Resident Evil movies, on the other hand, have sparked plenty of debate. They’re fun in a big, chaotic way, but they are very different from the game franchise. The films are their own thing.

Still, Anderson insists his guiding principles are simple… respect the IP and understand why people love playing it in the first place.

He pointed to one of the most iconic moments from the original Resident Evil game as a key inspiration. You know the one. The hallway. The window. The dogs.

"It was scary," Anderson recalled, "and I thought 'I have to make a scary movie because the game is scary' and that's one of the things it delivers to the audience, is those scares.

“That's why I couldn't do just a straight adaptation, because it wouldn't have scared anybody, because they'd have known exactly when the dog was going to jump through the window and they'd be prepared for the scares.

“I don't want to rob the audience of that, because that's part of the experience of playing the game that should be ported into the movie version."

That’s an interesting take. His argument is that copying the game beat for beat would actually hurt the experience because fans would see every scare coming. So instead, he tries to recreate the feeling rather than the exact sequence of events.

You could argue that you don’t need to play Resident Evil to know it should be scary, but at least Anderson is thinking about what players felt when they first experienced those moments.

Whether you love or hate Anderson’s films, you can’t say he doesn’t take the responsibility seriously.

If you thought the conversation around The Last of Us Part 3 had cooled off, think again. A new tease from Neil Druckmann has fans back in full speculation mode, and it doesn’t take much reading between the lines to see why people are getting excited.

It all started with a nostalgic Instagram post that feels like more than just a look back.

Druckmann, the co-creator of The Last of Us, shared some early concept sketches from 2003. The drawings show a rough version of what would eventually become Joel and Ellie’s journey. A man escorting a young girl across a fractured America. Even in its earliest form, the DNA is unmistakable.

Alongside the images, he wrote:

"Cleaning out the garage today and stumbled on my original sketches from 2003 for a game pitch about a man, his surrogate daughter, and a trek across a broken America. Been a wild journey. Grateful for every part of it, especially the few stops that remain on the road ahead."

Yeah… that last part, “the few stops that remain on the road ahead” has instantly become fuel for fans who already believe The Last of Us Part 3 is inevitable. It doesn’t sound like someone wrapping things up, it sounds like someone hinting there’s still more story left to tell.

Of course, context matters. It’s been six years since The Last of Us Part II dropped, and during that time, Druckmann hasn’t exactly committed to continuing the series.

In fact, back in May 2025, he suggested people shouldn’t count on another installment anytime soon while Naughty Dog focused on its next project, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

So what changed? Maybe nothing. Maybe everything.

Even with a relatively clean ending in Part II, the idea of a third chapter has always lingered. Naughty Dog has a habit of building trilogies. Just look at Crash Bandicoot, Jak and Daxter, and Uncharted. There’s also the massive success of the HBO adaptation, which only increases demand for more story in this world.

Fans definitely picked up on the tease right away. To be clear, there’s still no official announcement. This isn’t confirmation. It’s a vibe. But it’s a strong one.

Beyond the speculation, the sketches themselves are a cool reminder of how far the series has come. The early version of the protagonist looks rougher, almost like an action-heavy survivor with a torch in hand.

Another image shows a more refined, older version wearing a shirt and tie, with the girl now a teenager. It’s fascinating to see the evolution before Naughty Dog shifted toward the cinematic storytelling style they later perfected with Uncharted.

Break out the designer canteens, because Troop Beverly Hills is gearing up for a comeback. Cameron Diaz is officially developing a sequel to the beloved 1989 comedy, and she’s teaming up with Clea DuVall to bring it to life.

If you grew up with the Wilderness Girls, this one’s going to hit that sweet spot of nostalgia and curiosity. The project is currently in development at TriStar Pictures, with DuVall set to write and direct.

Instead of roughing it in the traditional sense, Phyllis leaned into what she knew best. Luxury, style, and confidence. She turned high-end life skills into unexpected tools for leadership, proving you don’t need to build a fire to keep a group together.

The film was inspired by real experiences from producer Ava Fries, and it was directed by Jeff Kanew, with a screenplay by Pamela Norris and Margaret Oberman. Its cast included Craig T. Nelson, Betty Thomas, Mary Gross, and early appearances from Jenny Lewis, Kellie Martin, Carla Gugino, and Tori Spelling.

The Soldier Boy actor Jensen Ackles sat down with Entertainment Tonight and spilled on what it was actually like filming with his Supernatural brothers Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins for The Boys’ final season.

Ackles admitted he went into it with a knot in his stomach. "I was nervous to have them on. Not in a bad way – I wanted them to do good. They're family to me.

“We spent almost two decades together… It's like watching your son go up to bat for the first time. That's how I felt. Of course they did great. We had a great time."

Sweet, right? Sure. But then he kept talking, and things took a dark turn: "It was disgusting, it was outrageous. I think there were multiple days where we looked at each other like, 'What are we doing?' But we're used to Kripke's universes, so it wasn't that shocking.

“Having us together, it was weird working on camera with them playing different characters than we're used to playing. That was a little tricky; it took us a few takes to shake that out."

Three Supernatural veterans, reunited on a super violent and graphic superhero show, staring at each other mid-scene wondering what their lives have become.

Padalecki previously teased at Creation Chicago that his role was "unlike" anything from his "past 25 years of this wild career."

Then there’s showrunner Eric Kripke, who created both Supernatural and The Boys, who clearly had the time of his life with it.

He told Entertainment Weekly, "They show up in episode 5. What I love about what they're doing is they're just such douchebags. It's great. I mean, Soldier Boy is no treat either, but they're just really not morally upstanding dudes. It's a blast to watch them play that. It was just so much fun."

Kripke built his career writing morally complicated men doing terrible things for complicated reasons, so when he says he loves how much of a douchebag someone is, take it as the seal of approval it is.

Selma Blair (Legally Blonde, American Crime Story, Hellboy) has signed on to star opposite Sean Patrick Flanery (Powder, The Boondock Saints) in Ethan Almighty – Ethan’s Law, an inspirational indie film written, directed and produced by Tané McClure.

Set to shoot in Kentucky in April, the film is based on the viral true story of Jeff Callaway and the rescue dog Ethan, whose miraculous survival inspired the world and led to meaningful changes to animal cruelty laws in Kentucky.

A standout talent from one of television’s most respected dramas is stepping into the DC universe, and the mystery surrounding his role is already pulling fans in.

Man of Tomorrow just added another intriguing piece to its growing cast, and while the details are locked tight, the speculation machine is working overtime.

Andre Royo, best known for his unforgettable performance as Bubbles in The Wire, is officially part of the upcoming DC film. The announcement came straight from James Gunn, who’s reuniting with the actor after more than a decade.

Gunn shared his excitement, saying, “After fifteen years, it’s great to be working with Andre again!”

That reunion goes back to their collaboration on the offbeat superhero film Super in 2010, and now they’re circling back on a much bigger stage.

Royo’s career has stayed consistently strong over the years, with appearances in shows like Law & Order and Empire, along with films such as To Leslie and Beautiful Boy. But for a lot of fans, he’ll always be tied to The Wire and the layered humanity he brought to Bubbles.

What makes this casting especially fun is that no one knows who he’s playing. That hasn’t stopped fans from throwing out theories.

One name that keeps popping up is J’onn J’onzz, better known as Martian Manhunter. It’s a character with deep roots in DC lore who hasn’t had much live-action screen time.

The most recent appearance came when Harry Lennix portrayed him briefly in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, released on March 18, 2021. Gunn has teased the character in the past, so the idea doesn’t feel far-fetched.

There’s always been something undeniably awesome about the introduction of Darth Maul in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.

From the moment he appeared, he felt different. He was more dangerous. calculated, and of course, there was that unforgettable double-bladed lightsaber reveal.

For years, fans have debated why Maul chose such a unique weapon, but now Star Wars has finally given us a clear answer in a new featurette, and it actually makes his entire role in the galaxy even more interesting.

The double-bladed lightsaber wasn’t just a flashy design choice. It stood out immediately when it first appeared in The Phantom Menace, even though the film held it back until the final duel.

The weapon itself actually has roots in earlier Star Wars comics, but Maul is the one who made it iconic. Even now, decades later, it remains one of the coolest and most recognizable lightsaber designs in the franchise.

According to recent canon developments in Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord Episodes 3 and 4, there’s a very practical and brutal reason behind it.

This weapon isn’t just two blades stuck together for style points. It’s essentially two fully functioning lightsabers combined into one, each powered by its own kyber crystal. And if needed, Maul can split them apart and dual-wield.

Over the years, we’ve seen others use similar weapons. Pong Krell wielded one during the Clone Wars after turning against the Jedi, and the Inquisitors under Darth Vader adopted their own spinning variations.

Even during the High Republic era, Jedi like Orla Jareni and Keeve Trennis experimented with similar designs. But none of them really captured the original intent behind it.

That’s where Maul comes in. The real reason he uses a double-bladed lightsaber is simple and deadly efficient. It’s designed for fighting multiple opponents at once.

This idea is reinforced in Maul – Shadow Lord when he takes on both Master Eeko-Dio Daki and Padawan Devon Izara in a single fight. One blade lets him attack, while the other keeps enemies at bay. It turns defense and offense into one continuous motion.

The choreography even leans into a staff-like fighting style. Think of a bo staff, constantly spinning, creating a perimeter that’s nearly impossible to penetrate. Maul’s weapon never feels still. It’s always in motion, unpredictable, and dangerous from every angle. Even when outnumbered, he controls the fight.

And that ties directly into why Darth Sidious trained him. Maul wasn’t meant to be a traditional Sith apprentice. He was built to be an assassin. A hunter. Someone who would track down Jedi in the shadows, striking when they were vulnerable.

His targets were often pairs like a Master and their Padawan. That’s exactly the kind of scenario where a double-bladed lightsaber gives him the edge.

It also explains a subtle detail from The Phantom Menace. When Maul first confronts Qui-Gon Jinn on Tatooine, he only uses a single blade. Qui-Gon is alone, so there’s no need to reveal his full weapon. But when he faces both Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan Kenobi on Naboo, that second blade ignites. Suddenly, the fight shifts completely.

All of this makes Maul’s weapon feel like a perfectly engineered tool of destruction, and in the hands of someone like Maul, it turns a two-on-one fight into something pretty awesome.

Johnny Knoxville seems determined to stick the landing by not sticking the landing at all. When the interviewer wished him her best on Jackass 5, Knoxville fired back with exactly the kind of energy fans expect:

“You hope it doesn’t go well at all! Should be a f*cking train wreck. That’s what you should hope for. I think we designed it that way.”

When initially announcing the film, he said: “Well a wang dang and hot damn doodle, we are starting the year off with a bang. We wanted to let you know that this summer Jackass is back!! We will see you in theatres June 26th. More to come but wanted you to hear it from us first!!”

The new film is set to hit theaters on June 26.

A trailer has been released for the crime comedy Idiots, featuring Dave Franco and O'Shea Jackson Jr. as rehab transporters, with Mason Thames, Kiernan Shipka, Nicholas Braun, and Peter Dinklage.

The film is directed and written by Macon Blair (The Toxic Avenger, The Lowdown) from a story by Blair and Alex Orr.

The synopsis reads: "When two unqualified bozos are hired to transfer a rich teen to rehab, their straightforward gig quickly spirals into dangerous mayhem. Dave Franco & O'Shea Jackson Jr are perfectly (mis)matched as Mark and Davis, the fumbling circumstantial chaperones in charge of transporting the increasingly psychotic Sheridan (a brilliant Mason Thames)."

This looks like a hilarious and wild ride. It premiered earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival to solid reviews.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe when through a strange transition phase, and now we’ve got a clearer picture of when things really started to shift from Kang to Doom.

According to Kevin Feige, Marvel didn’t really scramble to replace Kang after everything surrounding Jonathan Majors unfolded. The seeds for bringing in Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom were already being planted around the time Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania hit theaters.

That’s a pretty wild revelation considering how heavily Kang was being positioned as the next major threat across the MCU.

Feige opened up about the studio’s long-running conversations with Downey Jr., and it sounds like this wasn’t some last-minute pivot at all. He explained:

"There's nobody we're closer with than Robert. Ever since Endgame, we would see each other quite a lot. It was unspoken for a long time of 'What could we do and how could we do it?'"

That idea apparently lingered for years before something finally clicked.

"Years went by and we started thinking of this way to do it. I want to say early 2023 and we started saying, 'We actually think this could really work.' I went to his abode and pitched him this idea… He was very excited about it."

That early 2023 timeline lines up almost perfectly with the release of Quantumania, which introduced Kang as a full-on big screen villain.

The problem is, the reaction didn’t exactly match Marvel’s expectations. Fans weren’t thrilled with how quickly Kang was taken out in the film’s finale, and the overall reception to the movie was lukewarm at best.

Then things got a lot more complicated when majors was arrested in March 2023 and later convicted in December on charges tied to assault and harassment involving Grace Jabbari.

Marvel ultimately cut ties with the actor, despite having already mapped out major plans for him to lead Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.

At that point, the studio had a massive decision to make. Instead of recasting Kang or trying to stay the course, Marvel took a sharp turn. They went back to one of the biggest stars in the franchise’s history.

Downey Jr.’s return is already one of the most surprising moves Marvel has pulled off, especially since he isn’t coming back as Tony Stark. Instead, he’s stepping into the role of Victor Von Doom, one of Marvel’s most iconic villains. It’s certainly a big creative swing.

Doctor Doom is now set to play a major role in both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, positioning him as the new central threat of the saga. The character has already been teased, including a post-credits appearance tied to the Fantastic Four, and footage shown at CinemaCon confirmed that Downey Jr. will even be using an accent for the role.

With Avengers: Doomsday landing on December 18, Marvel’s future is starting to come into focus again. The Kang era didn’t fully materialize the way the studio planned, but according to Feige, the shift to Doctor Doom wasn’t just damage control. It was something they were already gearing up for.

The future of Star Wars is taking shape in an interesting way, and it looks like Lucasfilm is splitting its storytelling into two very different lanes.

On one side, you’ve got the intimate, boots-on-the-ground adventures of Din Djarin and Grogu. On the other, a much larger, more strategic narrative is forming with Ahsoka Tano at the center of it all.

With The Mandalorian and Grogu on the way and Ahsoka Season 2 in development, Jon Favreau has offered some insight into how these projects will complement each other while operating on completely different levels of the galaxy.

From what we’ve seen so far, The Mandalorian and Grogu isn’t trying to shake up the entire galaxy. The trailers point to a smaller-scale story, focused on character, action, and the kind of scrappy adventures that we’ve come to expect from The Mandalorian.

Favreau confirmed that approach while explaining where it fits in the larger timeline:

"Anybody who saw the sequels knows that there's a First Order coming in, like, 20 years from where we are now in the storyline. And then Ahsoka season 2 is coming out – which I've seen all of – and that's definitely more dealing with the larger [picture], a higher level.

“That's about the officers and we're the enlisted men – this is more of a ground-level experience of what's going on. You're seeing the backdrop – which, by the way, is what the first Star Wars started off as."

The Mandalorian has always been about the people caught in the middle of chaos, not the ones pulling the strings. It’s the perspective of bounty hunters, mercenaries, and survivors just trying to navigate a fractured galaxy.

Meanwhile, Ahsoka is stepping into a much bigger arena. Season 1 already hinted at major shifts with the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn and the growing presence of Imperial remnants.

Those threads are only going to expand as the story continues, especially with the Shadow Council quietly building something dangerous behind the scenes.

Favreau dug into that looming threat and how it reflects real-world history:

"If you look at the fall of empires, historically, a lot of the power brokers become warlords, and anybody with a standing army had power in the ancient world. We see that repeat itself in history.

“I guess what the Shadow Council alluded to is that they're starting to actually connect. It's not just insulated warlords anymore, and there's a larger scheme afoot. There's something going on and Thrawn is sort of the missing link that we began to allude to at the end of season 3."

That idea of scattered Imperial leaders uniting under a bigger plan feels like the bridge that leads directly into the rise of the First Order. If Favreau is right, Ahsoka Season 2 is where that transformation really starts to take shape.

The creative direction behind that shift falls heavily on Dave Filoni, who continues to be one of the key architects of this era of Star Wars. Favreau made it clear that Filoni is steering the ship when it comes to the bigger picture:

"Dave has grabbed the baton now with the Ahsoka show, and that's going to be taking the next step. There's a lot in that man's head and I know that he takes how it all connects very seriously.

“Now Dave is in his new position, he's been figuring out where things are moving forward after this. He's got a lot of responsibility there."

That’s a lot riding on one series, but if Season 1 was any indication, Ahsoka is built for it. It’s already weaving together threads from Rebels, The Clone Wars, and the post-Return of the Jedi timeline in a way that feels like it’s building toward something massive.

At the same time, The Mandalorian and Grogu sticking to a more personal story is a smart contrast. Not every story needs to reshape the galaxy to matter, and honestly, some of the best Star Wars moments happen far away from war rooms and grand strategy.

One show expands the mythos. The other reminds us why we care about the people living in it.

The Mandalorian and Grogu hits theaters on May 22, while Ahsoka Season 2 is still waiting on an official release date.

DC Studios shared the first image from it’s upcming film Clayface, and it features Tom Rhys Harries as Matt Hagen, smiling confidently on the cover of a magazine labeled “Rising star Matt Hagen.”

It’s clean, polished, and almost too normal. If you know anything about Clayface, that calm surface comes with a ticking clock. This version of Hagen is headed straight for a nightmare.

That context completely changes how you look at the photo. What seems like a simple celebrity snapshot turns into something ominous. We already know what’s coming for him.

Footage shown at CinemaCon leaned hard into that transformation. Hagen is seen lying in a hospital bed, his face wrapped in bandages after it had been savagely slashed up. Then things get worse. At one point, he literally wipes his entire face away.

That moment sets the tone for what DC Studios is building here. This movie is leaning fully into body horror, and from what was shown, it doesn’t hold back. The footage I saw is brutal, violent, and grotesque.

Max Minghella teased just how far the film is willing to push things, saying: "I think I can say safely it's going there. It's a proper movie. It's a really fantastic script."

That’s a strong vote of confidence, and it lines up with the tone DC Studios seems to be aiming for with this project. If they stick the landing, Clayface could end up being one of the most unique entries in the comic book genre.

Meanwhile, over in another corner of the DC universe, James Gunn is teasing what’s next. He shared a cryptic first look at Man of Tomorrow, a follow-up to Superman that’s already raising questions.

The image hints at a chess match, possibly involving Lex Luthor and Superman, which is interesting considering the two are expected to team up this time around. Even more intriguing is the logo, blending Superman’s iconic symbol with that of Brainiac.

DC Studios seems to be carving out a bold direction with these projects, and if Clayface delivers on its horror-driven promise, it could set a new tone for what these characters can be on screen.

After years of uncertainty and behind-the-scenes chaos, Coyote vs. ACME is finally stepping into the spotlight, and the first teaser proves this movie was absolutely worth saving. This is promoting a full trailer that is set to drop tomorrow.

The live-action/animation hybrid comedy takes one of the most iconic underdogs in cartoon history and throws him into a courtroom battle that feels just as chaotic as his endless chase for the Road Runner.

In the film, Wile E. Coyote is fed up with ACME’s consistently defective gadgets blowing up in his face, so he decides to take legal action. He hires a struggling human attorney who sees a real opportunity in the case.

Things get complicated when the lawyer realizes his former boss is representing ACME, turning the lawsuit into something personal. What follows is a mix of rivalry, unlikely friendship, and classic Looney Tunes-style disaster.

The teaser gives us a quick look at Will Forte in the lead role, setting the tone with a blend of dry humor and escalating absurdity. It’s only a minute long, but it already sells the idea that this movie leans into both the nostalgia of the original cartoons and a more grounded, character-driven story.

What’s crazy is how close this film came to disappearing completely. Development kicked off back in 2018, with a theatrical release originally planned for July 2023.

Then everything went sideways. Warner Bros. Discovery pulled the film from its schedule in April 2022, and by November 2023, the studio chose not to release it at all, opting instead for a $30 million tax write-off. It joined the same unfortunate pile as Batgirl and Scoob! Holiday Haunt.

That decision didn’t sit well with anyone. Filmmakers, fans, and even a congressman pushed back hard. Eventually, Warner Bros. allowed the creative team to shop the movie around, though it wasn’t exactly an easy process. For a while, it looked like Wile E. might never get his day in court.

Then came the turnaround. In March 2025, Ketchup Entertainment stepped in and acquired worldwide rights for around $50 million, giving the film a second shot at life.

Forte didn’t hold back his excitement about the save, saying, "I never thought it would happen so it just came out of nowhere, and I’m so thrilled, Thank you, Ketchup Entertainment, I’m so excited for people to see this movie. I’m gonna promote the crap out of it, just tell me what you want me to do, and I’ll go, I’ll do whatever — go to the top of Mount Everest, I’m there."

He had been just as vocal when the project was shelved, making it clear how much he believed in it: "My thoughts were that it’s f**ing bullsht," before adding, "It is such a delightful movie. It deserves so much better. I can’t tell you possibly why the decision was made to not release it, but it makes my blood boil."

Apple TV just dropped a teaser for the third season of Silo, and it’s not just another peek ahead, it’s a full-on rewind into the mystery that’s been hanging over the series since day one. If you’ve been following the twists and revelations, this next chapter looks like it’s finally ready to start answering the biggest questions.

“Before we can know why we’re here. Before we can know why everything is as it is. Before we can know how it all will end, we need to understand how it all began.”

So while we’re heading into the past, the present timeline isn’t slowing down either. Juliette’s survival comes with a heavy cost, and the silo itself is still on shaky ground after everything that’s happened. That mix of timelines could make for the most layered season yet.

Season 3 will run for ten episodes, kicking off July 3 with new episodes dropping every Friday through September 4. And if you’re worried about how long this story will stretch, there’s already an end in sight.

The series has been renewed for a fourth and final season, meaning the creators are steering toward a definitive conclusion.

Coming out of CinemaCon, Kevin Feige sat down with Entertainment Weekly and confirmed what many suspected. This story is pulling from some of Marvel’s most iconic comic arcs, particularly the kind that deal with universes smashing into each other and timelines crossing in chaotic ways.

He didn’t name specific runs, but fans familiar with Jonathan Hickman’s work can read between the lines.

"We're not talking too much about story, but I think people know that the story of Doomsday is inspired by a very famous comic run in which universes are colliding, and Earths encounter one another, and different timelines encounter one another," Feige mused. "And in movie speak, what that allows us to do is get different casts from different franchises."

That opens the door for something fans have been waiting years to see. Multiple Marvel worlds finally colliding on screen. We’re talking about the MCU’s Earth-616, the Fantastic Four’s Earth-828, and the X-Men’s Earth-10005 all intersecting in one massive event. it’s a full-blown multiversal collision.

For Feige, bringing the X-Men back into the fold hits on a personal level. He actually worked on the early X-Men films, which makes this moment feel like things have come full circle.

"I was a part of the first couple many, many, many, many, many years ago," Feige told the site. "Now that they're back home, we thought: We have to utilize them. Deadpool & Wolverine was our first opportunity to do that and touch upon it, and it just felt like an amazing opportunity to pit multiple universes against each other, but you care about all of them."

These aren’t just characters, they’re entire eras of Marvel storytelling colliding. Fans who grew up with the original X-Men films, alongside those invested in the Avengers and the upcoming Fantastic Four, are all being pulled into one shared narrative.

"Bringing them all together is what we have tasked the brothers with doing for us."

Of course, one of the more interesting rumors floating around involves Magneto apparently destroying New Jersey. It’s something Ian McKellen himself has hinted at in interviews, which made fans wonder if the legendary mutant is about to unleash total chaos on the Garden State.

Feige addressed that directly in a conversation with Joe Russo, and the response was… not exactly definitive. "Does he destroy New Jersey in the movie? I think he might've misspoke. I don't think he destroys New Jersey." Feige added, "There's a New Jersey presence,"

So, no outright confirmation of Magneto leveling the state, but also not a full denial. Classic Marvel secrecy.

Looking beyond Doomsday, Feige also teased how it connects to Avengers: Secret Wars, which is shaping up to be something massive in its own right. Fans expecting a direct continuation similar to Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame might want to adjust those expectations.

"People familiar with the comic stories see that they will relate. They relate in a very different way than Infinity War and Endgame. I think people are expecting a similar connection, and while one certainly does lead into the other, it's in a very different way. I will say that Secret Wars is as ambitious a project as we’ve ever embarked on."

Right now, Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on December 18, and it’s going to kick off a wild new chapter for the MCU. Between multiverse chaos, legacy characters returning, and a mystery involving Magneto and New Jersey, there’s plenty here to keep fans guessing.

The Broken Lizard crew is back in uniform, and it things look just as ridiculous as you’d hope from this franchise. Searchlight just dropped the first trailer for Super Troopers 3, and it leans hard into the same absurd comedy that made the original a cult favorite.

Whether that’s a good thing probably depends on how much maple syrup-fueled nonsense you’re willing to sign up for again.

Following Super Troopers from 2001 and Super Troopers 2 in 2018, this third entry throws the gang into another over-the-top situation that feels tailor-made for their brand of humor.

The story is exactly as unhinged as you’d expect. Farva’s somehow landed himself in a wildly exaggerated Indian engagement to Thorny’s sister, and naturally, everything spirals out of control from there.

Thorny isn’t exactly thrilled, so he starts scheming to sabotage the whole thing, while the rest of the crew gets tangled up in taking down a new drug ring. Because sure, why not pile that on too?

The official synopsis reads: “‘The mustache rides, again. Again.’ Everyone's favorite cops are back with the 3rd installment of the cult comedy classic from the Broken Lizard crew: Super Troopers 3.

“When Farva's wildly over-the-top Indian engagement to Thorny’s sister spirals into chaos, the Super Troopers must navigate Thorny's schemes to break up the relationship, while trying to crack a pernicious new drug ring. All to save the day & maybe the wedding itself."

The familiar faces are all back, including Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Erik Stolhanske, with Brian Cox returning as well.

They’re joined by a mix of newcomers like Marisa Coughlan, Nat Faxon, Chace Crawford, Andrew Dismukes, Hannah Simone, Iqbal Theba, Sakina Jaffrey, Lisa Gilroy, and Jon Rudnitsky.

Chandrasekhar is once again in the director’s chair, continuing his run with the franchise after helming the first two films along with projects like Puddle Cruiser, Beerfest, and The Dukes of Hazzard.

One by one, the family begins to transform into Deadites, turning what should’ve been a quiet gathering into something far more sinister. The emotional hook adds a layer to the chaos, especially as she realizes the vows she made might still carry weight even after death.

The film is directed by Sébastien Vaniček, who caught the attention of Sam Raimi with his 2024 horror debut Infested. The cast includes Souheila Yacoub (Dune: Part Two), Hunter Doohan (Wednesday), Luciane Buchanan (The Night Agent) Tandi Wright (Pearl), and George Pullar (It Only Takes a Night).

The franchise isn’t slowing down after this, with Evil Dead Wrath already set to follow in theaters on April 7, 2028.

Marvel fans might want to start clearing their July calendars, because it looks like Marvel Studios is gearing up for a big return to San Diego Comic-Con. AIf the latest report holds true, that comeback could come with a pretty wild implication… we might be waiting a lot longer than expected for the first full look at Avengers: Doomsday.

Marvel has built a reputation for completely owning Hall H whenever they show up. It’s never just a panel, it’s an event. Fans line up for days hoping to get inside, and historically, it’s paid off.

We’ve seen everything from the announcmnt of Iron Man, to the original Avengers lineup, to a surprise screening of Deadpool & Wolverine, to the reveal of Mahershala Ali stepping into Blade, which never evolved into anything, to the jaw-dropping moment when Robert Downey Jr. was announced to be returning to the MCU as Doctor Doom.

After sitting out last year’s convention, Marvel looks ready to make noise again. According to The Wrap, Marvel Studios isn’t just showing up to San Diego Comic-Con this year, they’re going all in.

The studio is expected to have a strong presence on the show floor and reclaim its traditional Saturday night Hall H panel on July 25. On top of that, they’ll also appear at D23 Expo just weeks later in August.

That kind of one-two punch has fans asking a big question… Are we really going to have to wait until SDCC for the full Avengers: Doomsday trailer?

Right now, that feels like the most obvious play. A massive Hall H crowd, a stacked cast possibly taking the stage, and the debut of the first full trailer would be classic Marvel. At the same time, there’s a strong argument that the studio could drop the trailer earlier and use Comic-Con for additional reveals instead.

There’s also a timing angle that makes things interesting. With Disney’s summer lineup, it wouldn’t be surprising if Marvel attaches the first trailer to The Mandalorian and Grogu toward the end of May. That would give the studio momentum heading into Comic-Con instead of holding everything back.

Still, Marvel has been very strategic lately. After debuting footage at CinemaCon, fans have been watching closely for any sign that the trailer is about to drop “soon.”

The longer they wait, the more attention it builds. Holding it until SDCC, especially if it stays exclusive to the room at first, would be a power move that keeps the entire fandom locked in.

And let’s be real, Avengers: Doomsday probably won’t be the only thing Marvel brings to the table. The timing of Comic-Con puts it just one week ahead of Spider-Man: Brand New Day hitting theaters, so there’s almost no chance that movie doesn’t get some kind of spotlight.

On top of that, Marvel could also carve out time for its Disney+ slate, including Vision Quest, new seasons of X-Men ’97, Eyes of Wakanda, and Marvel Zombies. Though with a project as massive as Avengers: Doomsday, it wouldn’t be shocking if that film dominates most of the conversation.

No matter how it plays out, Marvel Studios returning to San Diego Comic-Con is a big deal. This is the same event where they first laid out their ambitious plans back in 2006, and it’s clearly going to be a major stop on the road to their next Avengers event.

There’s a new journey back to Middle-earth on the horizon, and it sounds like a familiar face might be leading the way. Warner Bros. is developing The Lord of the Rings: Shadow of the Past, a film that digs into previously unexplored corners of Tolkien’s story while also moving the timeline forward.

Now, word is that Sean Astin is expected to return as Samwise Gamgee, and that alone is enough to get longtime fans paying attention.

The project has sparked a mix of excitement and hesitation across the fanbase, but the creative direction is very cool and interesting. Instead of retelling what we’ve already seen, this film pulls from sections of The Fellowship of the Ring that didn’t make it into The Lord of the Rings film trilogy.

Specifically, it covers Chapters III through VIII, meaning we’ll finally see characters and moments that were skipped before, including Tom Bombadil, Goldberry, and the eerie Barrow Wights.

The story isn’t just filling in gaps though. It also pushes forward. The official logline reads: "Fourteen years after the passing of Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin set out to retrace the first steps of their adventure. Meanwhile, Sam’s daughter, Elanor, has discovered a long-buried secret and is determined to uncover why the War of the Ring was very nearly lost before it even began.”

That setup gives the film a dual identity. It works as a continuation of the story while also weaving in events that happened before the War of the Ring fully unfolded. It’s a clever angle that could make the movie feel both nostalgic and fresh at the same time.

The script is being handled by Stephen Colbert and screenwriter Peter McGee, which might sound unexpected at first. But Colbert is famously one of the most passionate Tolkien fans out there, and he explained exactly what drew him to this slice of the story:

"The thing I found myself reading over and over again were the six chapters early on in ['The Fellowship of the Ring'] that ya’ll never developed into the first movie back in the day.

"It’s basically the chapter 'Three is Company' [Chapter III] through 'Fog on the Barrow-Downs' [Chapter VIII]." "And I thought, 'Oh, wait, maybe that could be its own story that could fit into the larger story. Could we make something that was completely faithful to the books while also being completely faithful to the movies that you guys had already made?'"

That balance between honoring the books and staying consistent with Peter Jackson’s films seems to be the guiding philosophy here.

As for the returning cast, Astin may not be alone. While nothing else is confirmed yet, it’s hard to imagine Sam retracing those steps without Merry and Pippin, originally played by Billy Boyd and Dominic Monaghan. If this really is a reunion story, fans are going to expect the full trio back together.

Meanwhile, this isn’t the only Middle-earth project in motion. The Hunt for Gollum is also in development with Andy Serkis stepping into the director’s chair. There are even rumblings that Anya Taylor-Joy is circling a role, though nothing is locked in yet.

Jackson, along with Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens, shared their excitement about expanding this world again:

Warner Bros. leadership is clearly committed to doing this right: “For over two-decades, moviegoers have embraced the Lord of the Rings film trilogy because of the undeniable devotion Peter, Fran and Philippa have shown towards protecting the legacy of Tolkien’s works, and to ensure audiences could experience the incredible world he created in a way that honors his literary vision.”

WBD film chiefs Pam Abdy and Michael De Luca added: “We are honored they have agreed be our partners on these two new films. With Andy coming aboard to direct Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum(*WT), we continue an important commitment to excellence that is a true hallmark of how we all want to venture ahead and further contribute to the Lord of the Rings cinematic”

Right now, Shadow of the Past feels like a fascinating gamble. It’s reaching into the past, pushing into the future, and possibly bringing back characters fans have loved for decades. If Astin really does return as Sam, that emotional connection could carry a lot of weight.

We have two Avengers movies headed our way this year and next, and just like the last two Avengers assemblies, these films promise to shake up the course of the MCU.

When Avengers: Infinity War was released in 2018, the scope and scale of the film, as well as the story’s repercussions, were unlike anything we’d seen in the Marvel universe.

But we hadn’t seen anything yet. When its follow up, Avengers: Endgame, was released in 2019, it was even bigger and more consequential. And that’s what Marvel boss Kevin Feige is asking fans to keep in mind as we head toward the release of Avengers: Doomsday.

While the introduction of Doctor Doom, and the return of Robert Downey Jr. in the role, is the current focus, Feige teased at CinemaCon that the second film, Avengers: Secret Wars is the most ambitious the studio has taken on.

He also made it clear that we shouldn’t think of the film as a simple wrap up to Doomsday, telling Fandango, “I think people are expecting a similar connection, and while one certainly does lead into the other, it’s in a very different way, and I will say that ‘Secret Wars’ is as ambitious a project as we’ve ever embarked on.”

While Feige is staying tight lipped about the whole two-film storyline, he did tell EW: “We’re not talking too much about story, but I think people know that the story of Doomsday is inspired by a very famous comic run in which universes are colliding, and Earths encounter one another, and different timelines encounter one another. And in movie speak, what that allows us to do is get different casts from different franchises.”

This is the most exciting part about these movies. Seeing the Avengers team up with the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and so many solo superheroes we’ve been waiting to get back to is going to be so awesome. And it sounds like the story is going to be even bigger and better than we had bargained for.

Avengers: Doomsday opens in theaters on December 18, 2026; Avengers: Secret Wars will follow on December 17, 2027.

Neon is ready to kick off the early summer movie season with something seriously unsettling. The studio just dropped the final trailer for Hokum, an Irish witch horror film that leans hard into eerie folklore and psychological dread.

We’ve already seen and couple of trailers for the film, but this one is one doubles down on the nightmare fuel. The film comes from Irish filmmaker Damian McCarthy, who made a strong impression with his previous projects including Caveat and Oddity.

The story centers on Ohm Bauman, played by Adam Scott, an American horror writer with Irish roots who travels to a remote part of Ireland to scatter his parents’ ashes.

What should be a quiet, reflective trip quickly turns into something far more sinister. His stay at a secluded inn comes with a warning that’s hard to ignore, especially when the staff start talking about a witch tied to one specific room.

Here’s the official synopsis: “When reclusive novelist Ohm Bauman (Scott) retreats to a remote Irish inn to scatter his parents’ ashes, the staff’s tales of an ancient witch haunting the honeymoon suite take hold of his mind. Soon, disturbing visions and a shocking disappearance draw him into a nightmarish confrontation with the most darkest corners of his past.”

The trailer makes it clear that things spiral fast. Scott leads a solid cast that includes David Wilmot, Austin Amelio, Florence Ordesh, Peter Coonan, Michael Patric, and Will O'Connell. The vibe feels intimate but intense, with the kind of creeping tension that builds before hitting you with something sharp.

McCarthy writes and directs here, and early reactions have been strong, calling it chilling, clever, and packed with some genuinely effective jump scares.

Hokum hits theaters across the U.S. on May 1st, 2026. If you’re into witch horror with a psychological edge and a moody Irish backdrop, this one looks like it might mess with your head in all the right ways.

The first season of Spider-Noir hasn’t even landed yet, but the creative team is already looking ahead and the future sounds a lot bigger, darker, and more dangerous.

Showrunner Oren Uziel is thinking beyond the streets of 1930s New York and hinting that a potential second season could throw the gritty Marvel hero straight into the turmoil of World War II.

Set to premiere on Prime Video, Spider-Noir drops viewers into 1933 New York City, a place drowning in crime, corruption, and economic hardship.

At the center is Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly, a worn-down private investigator who used to be something more. This isn’t a bright, hopeful Spider-Man story. It’s a character study wrapped in shadow, loss, and hard choices.

Uziel sees the show’s format as something flexible and expandable, built for long-term storytelling:

"One thing I love about the genre is that when you have a private detective, all it takes is a knock on the office door and a new client walks in… Whether it’s New York or a different setting,

“I really feel like this is a great jumping-off point to expand your story. Obviously, as time passes from 1933, we’re heading towards not just trouble in the financial markets in New York, but also a geopolitical struggle that would be an amazing canvas for any future storytelling."

That idea opens the door to a pretty cool story. Watching a noir-style Spider-Man navigate a world sliding toward global war could push the series into territory we haven’t really seen from Marvel before.

What makes this version of Spider-Man so interesting is where we meet him. Ben Reilly isn’t starting his journey. He’s already lived it and walked away.

The show picks up years after he gave up being a hero, with personal tragedy forcing him into a quieter, more cynical life. He spends his days trailing suspects and exposing secrets instead of saving the city.

Uziel describes him as "middle-aged," which immediately sets him apart from the usual Peter Parker audiences are used to seeing. This is a Spider-Man shaped by time, regret, and experience.

Even without the looming war, the setting itself brings plenty of tension. The Great Depression is crushing the city, organized crime is thriving, and the aftermath of Prohibition still lingers in every alley. Uziel said:

"It gives you so much built-in conflict and drama to work with. The city was going through extremely hard times…it’s fertile ground for a city in crisis, but a city that’s very much still alive."

And from what we’ve already seen, that chaos isn’t slowing down anytime soon. The trailer teased a lineup of classic villains, including Electro and Sandman, suggesting that Reilly’s quiet life won’t stay quiet for long.

Alongside Cage, the cast includes Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez, Abraham Popoola, Jack Huston, and Brendan Gleeson, bringing a strong ensemble into this smoky, dangerous world.

If Season 1 is about dragging a retired hero back into the fight, Season 2 could take that fight global. A Spider-Man story set against the backdrop of a world at war has the potential to be something truly unique.

Spider-Noir premieres May 27 on Prime Video, and if Uziel’s ideas take shape, this series might just evolve into one of the most unexpected corners of the Marvel universe.

Star Wars fans had every reason to believe Din Djarin and Grogu’s story would continue on Disney+ with The Mandalorian Season 4. That was the plan for a while, but things ended up shifting in a big way.

Instead of another season, Lucasfilm pivoted to the big screen with The Mandalorian and Grogu, and that change ended up reshaping the story a lot more than you might have expected.

That shift didn’t just change the format. It reshaped the entire story.

Jon Favreau had already mapped out a full season’s worth of scripts before the industry strikes hit pause on everything. But those scripts weren’t designed to stand alone. They were deeply tied into the larger Star Wars narrative, especially what’s coming next in Ahsoka.

Favreau explained: "You can't just take those scripts and turn them into a movie. There were a lot of characters, it assumed you'd watched the whole show, and it was teeing up what was happening moving into [the second season of ] Ahsoka. It was about Grand Admiral Thrawn and following the larger storyline [of this era of the Star Wars timeline]."

That gives a pretty clear picture of what Season 4 was shaping up to be. It wasn’t just another adventure-of-the-week run. It was building toward something bigger, pulling threads that connect directly to Ahsoka and the looming threat of Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Instead of adapting that into a movie, Favreau had to rethink everything from the ground up. "This is a completely different medium," he continued, "so I had to start from scratch, essentially.

“There were certain things I wanted to pursue, like the idea of Grogu being the Mandalorian's apprentice. As long as you understand the archetypes of this hardened warrior with their vulnerable young apprentice, you’ll know these characters well, even if you've never seen the show.

“But there's still a lot of Star Wars in there. You're going to see where things are going [in the wider universe], but that doesn't diminish from the experience of watching it as a standalone film."

That “start from scratch” approach is key. The movie isn’t just a longer episode. It’s designed so anyone can walk in without homework and still connect with Din and Grogu’s journey. At the same time, longtime fans won’t be left out. The wider galaxy is still moving forward in the background.

Meanwhile, Ahsoka is carrying a lot of that larger narrative weight. The first season closed with some major shifts. Ezra Bridger made his long-awaited return alongside Thrawn, while Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren ended up stranded on Peridea.

Those threads are clearly being saved for Season 2, which now seems to be picking up pieces that might have originally been seeded in The Mandalorian’s next season.

So while the Disney+ roadmap shifted, the story itself didn’t vanish. It just split into two paths. One cinematic, one streaming, both feeding into the same evolving timeline.

The Mandalorian and Grogu hits theaters on May 22, bringing Din and Grogu to the big screen for the first time. Ahsoka Season 2 is still on the horizon with no release date yet, but it’s shaping up to carry some serious narrative weight.

There’s a new superhero series gearing up for TV, but this one didn’t come out of the modern comic boom. It actually predates most of the heroes audiences know today.

The Phantom is officially being developed as a live-action TV series, with filmmaker Reginald Hudlin leading the charge. For fans of classic comics and pulp-style heroes, this is shaping up to be something worth keeping an eye on.

Hudlin, known for projects like Candy Cane Lane and the documentary Sidney, is set to direct and produce the series, which is currently in development at King Features. The studio has long held the rights to the character, and now they’re looking to bring him back into the spotlight in a big way.

The Phantom isn’t just another masked vigilante. Created by Lee Falk, the character first appeared nearly 90 years ago and is widely recognized as the first costumed superhero. Long before Batman or Iron Man suited up, there was “The Ghost Who Walks,” a jungle protector whose legend is built on legacy, myth, and generations of crime-fighting.

Even after all these decades, the character hasn’t faded away. In fact, The Phantom has seen a resurgence thanks to digital releases and new storytelling takes like the Phantom 2040 webcomic from Alex Segura, which reimagines the mythos for a modern audience. That mix of old-school heroism and updated storytelling could play a big role in shaping this new series.

The franchise itself has serious global reach, with over 29 million readers across regions like Europe, India, Australia, and Brazil. That kind of built-in fanbase gives the show a strong foundation right out of the gate.

On top of that, new comic books launched through Mad Cave Comics in 2025, with more stories planned in the coming years. There’s even an immersive entertainment experience tied to the brand reportedly on the way.

As for Hudlin’s involvement, beyond his film and TV work, he’s connected to the comic world. He’s written for Black Panther at Marvel and is a co-owner of Milestone Media, the company behind characters like Static Shock, who is also being developed for a feature film.

King Features president C.J. Kettler shared their enthusiasm for the project, saying: “The development of a live-action series for the iconic comic strip ‘The Phantom’ marks a pivotal expansion to meet the current cultural zeitgeist for this brand.

“By partnering with award-nominated director Reginald Hudlin, who possesses a deep reverence for the comic industry and source material itself, we are confident this adaptation will meet the high expectations of both longtime and new fans globally.”

If done right, The Phantom could stand apart from the crowded superhero field by leaning into its legacy-driven storytelling and pulp adventure roots.

Oscar Isaac played Marc Spector/Steven Grant aka Moon Knight in the limited Marvel series of the same name in 2022 to mixed reviews.

Despite some fans wanting to see the story continue, aside from a 2024 appearance on the animated series What If…?, the character was left by the wayside.

But chatter has remained wondering if he could reemerge and join some cool co-stars in a series or movie about the comic book crew Midnight Sons.

Isaac talked about the possibility in a recent interview on the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast, where he revealed that there were conversations about him returning as Marc Spector in a potential Midnight Sons project.

He talked about the opportunity to deeply and seriously explore the experiences and challenges of the character in Moon Knight, who was afflicted by DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder), saying:

“I mean, again, it’s a…there’s a very tonally…it’s really important, because we’re playing with real stuff,” he said. “It’s expressing something very real and challenging and difficult.”

Isaac’s comments come a few months after a rumor claiming he would have a “main role” in the Midnight Sons movie surfaced. During the podcast conversation, host Josh Horowitz also told the Golden Globe winner that he had been campaigning for Isaac’s Drive co-star, Ryan Gosling, to land the part of Ghost Rider for a few years now.

Isaac supported the fan-cast, saying, “Make it happen, fellas. I mean, it’s a no-brainer.” He also joked that his Moon Knight and Mahershala Ali’s Blade could sit behind Gosling’s Ghost Rider at the back of his bike and “hold him tight.” He then called for fans to make a fan poster of the same.

I think this trio would be a lot of fun to watch, so let’s make it happen!

Netflix has released a photo from season 3 of their hit drama Wednesday. The photo features the title character, played by Jenna Ortega, who is on an expedition to find her friend, standing in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, beside a motorcycle.

Thing (Victor Dorobantu), the sentient but disembodied hand who serves as a key member of the Addams family, sits atop the motorcycle, and Wednesday holds a piece of paper in her hands and looks off into the distance with her signature deadpan glare. “From Paris, with dread,” reads the photo caption.

Season 2 of Wednesday ended with Wednesday and Thing riding off in the sidecar of her uncle Fester’s (Fred Armisen) motorcycle to search for her friend and roommate Enid (Emma Myers), a werewolf who became stuck in her wolf form and ran into the wilderness.

Netflix has yet to release plot details of Season 3, but it seems possible that the hunt for Enid is the reason Wednesday ends up in France.

Production on Wednesday Season 3 began in February. New cast members include Eva Green as Aunt Ophelia, plus Winona Ryder, Lena Headey, Andrew McCarthy, James Lance, Chris Sarandon, Noah Taylor, Oscar Morgan and Kennedy Moyer in undisclosed roles. Along with Ortega, Myers, Armisen and Dorobantu.

The series stars Hunter Doohan, Joy Sunday, Georgie Farmer, Isaac Ordonez, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Luis Guzmán, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Joanna Lumley.

The series is based on characters created by Charles Addams. Alfred Gough and Miles Millar serve as showrunners while Tim Burton directs and all three executive produce.

If you’ve been counting the days until you can watch Project Hail Mary from your couch, it’s time to recalibrate those plans. This sci-fi spectacle isn’t heading to streaming anytime soon, and that’s very much by design.

Co-director Christopher Miller announced at CinemaCon Amazon MGM is extending the film’s theatrical run, keeping it locked on the big screen for the foreseeable future. The message is pretty clear: if you want to see Ryan Gosling team up with Rocky, you’ll need to grab a theater seat.

Miller shared later shared on X: “We announced yesterday that MGM is extending the exclusive theatrical window for Project Hail Mary, so it won’t be on streaming anytime soon.

“This is a movie that needs to be seen on a big screen – and with a full return to IMAX screens for one week only starting this weekend, make plans to see it in a theater now! Bring friends and loved ones. It’s an experience to share with others.”

Directed by Phil Lord and Miller, the film adapts Andy Weir’s bestselling novel and follows a middle school teacher unexpectedly thrown into a high-stakes space mission to save the sun. Along the way, he forms an unlikely alliance that’s already become a fan-favorite element of the story. Sandra Hüller also stars.

The gamble to keep it theatrical is paying off. Since its March release, Project Hail Mary has pulled in over $517 million worldwide, quickly turning into one of the year’s biggest hits. That kind of performance makes it a lot easier for studios to resist the urge to rush things to digital platforms.

For comparison, Scream 7 made its way to PVOD just 31 days after hitting theaters. That’s been the norm lately, with studios eager to cash in on at-home viewing while the buzz is still fresh. But Project Hail Mary is clearly taking a different path.

There’s also a bigger picture here. At this year’s CinemaCon, studios signaled a renewed focus on theatrical exclusivity. The return of Project Hail Mary to IMAX screens was part of that conversation, reinforcing the idea that some films benefit from a longer life in theaters.

Even industry leaders are backing that approach. Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison has committed to 45-day theatrical windows for future releases, while Universal Pictures is planning extended theatrical runs of five weekends in 2026 and seven weekends in 2027 before films move to home viewing.

Universal just dropped a bloody little holiday surprise at CinemaCon, giving fans their first taste of Violent Night 2 and confirming that this sequel isn’t dialing anything down.

If you thought the first movie went hard with its skull-cracking Santa, the follow-up looks ready to push things even further, while also bringing in a major new player… Kristen Bell as Mrs. Claus.

Director Tommy Wirkola already flipped the script on Santa Claus back in Violent Night, turning him into a grizzled, hammer-swinging force of nature played by David Harbour. He wasn’t just delivering presents, he was delivering beatdowns, all wrapped up in a twisted holiday spirit. Now, Harbour is back in the red suit, but things aren’t exactly merry this time around.

The footage we saw kicks off with a cheeky nod to “Big Nick Energy” before revealing the core conflict. Santa has somehow landed himself on his own Naughty list. The guy who judges everyone else has lost his way and forgotten what Christmas is supposed to mean.

Of course, that personal crisis doesn’t stop him from absolutely wrecking people. One fun moment shows Santa throwing punches with Cookie Cutter Brass Knuckles, which is exactly the kind of ridiculous, brutal creativity fans are hoping for.

Then comes the big reveal. Kristen Bell steps into the role of Mrs. Claus, and even from a brief glimpse, she looks like she’s going to shake things up in a big way because she goes all in the holiday ass kicking.

Pairing Bell with Harbour is a lot of fun, and if Santa’s lost his holiday spirit, Mrs. Claus might be the one who forces him to face it… or at least survive long enough to figure it out.

Bell isn’t the only newcomer either. AEW star MJF also appears in the footage. What’s especially interesting is the shift in tone. While the original film pulled a lot from Die Hard style action, this sequel is leaning into classic Western influences.

it’s a different kind of tone and showdown energy, likely with more standoffs, gritty fight sequences, and a slightly different rhythm to the violence. Don’t worry though, it’s still very much R-rated and not holding back.

Mix all of that together and Violent Night 2 is shaping up to be a bigger, meaner, and more offbeat continuation of what ended up being one of 2022’s most unexpected hits. Between Santa’s identity crisis, the arrival of Mrs. Claus, and a fresh genre twist, this one could end up being a seriously fun holiday ride.

Anime has no shortage of high-energy action and offbeat romantic comedies, but horror still feels like a rare find in the medium. That’s part of what makes Mononoke: The Movie – Chapter 3: The Serpent God such an exciting release.

This series has carved out its own creepy corner of anime, and now it’s gearing up to bring everything to a close with one final, unsettling chapter.

The upcoming film hits theaters in Japan on May 29th, closing out the trilogy that follows the mysterious Medicine Seller. The character first appeared in the 2007 anime from Toei Animation, which ran for just 12 episodes but left a lasting impression thanks to its strange tone and unforgettable visual style.

Years later, the story picked back up with Mononoke The Movie: Phantom in the Rain, followed by Mononoke The Movie: The Ashes of Rage, each building on the series’ supernatural world.

Now the third film looks ready to push things even further. The trailer leans hard into the franchise’s signature aesthetic, blending traditional Japanese art influences with a surreal, almost dreamlike approach to animation. It’s the kind of look that instantly sets Mononoke apart from anything else in anime, and it only adds to the uneasy atmosphere.

Along with the trailer, an official synopsis sheds light on the story’s final arc: “After two major incidents involving supernatural beings—a deadly battle between a medicine seller (Hiroshi Kamiya) wielding a demon-slaying sword and a parasol, followed by a decisive battle with a fire rat—peace seemed to have finally returned to the Ooku (women’s quarters of the Edo Castle).

“However, the medicine seller sensed the lingering presence of “something” and remained vigilant. Around this time, Sachiko (Atsumi Tanezaki), the wife of the Emperor (Miyu Irino), who rules the world, gave birth to a long-awaited son, but the joy was short-lived, as she died despite the hopes and prayers of those around her.”

Things only spiral further from there: “Sachiko, who had hoped to change her superficial marital relationship with the Emperor by giving birth to an heir, finds herself caught up in a terrifying conspiracy that threatens to overturn the very existence of the Ooku.

“The irreparable sacrifices, the utterly unrewarded regret, and the anger with nowhere to go began to transform into vengeful spirits. Mizorogi Hokuto (Tsuda Kenjiro), the priest of the “Omizu-sama” deity worshipped within the Ooku (women’s quarters of the Edo Castle), watched the events unfold with a solemn expression.”

Mononoke has always leaned into psychological horror as much as supernatural terror, and this final entry looks like it’s bringing both to a boiling point. The series doesn’t rely on cheap scares. Instead, it builds dread through tragedy, unresolved emotions, and spirits born from human suffering.

What really makes this franchise stand out, though, is its visual style. The art style feels closer to a moving painting than a traditional anime, packed with bold colors and layered textures that give every scene a surreal edge.

For fans who haven’t jumped in yet, the original series and the first film are currently streaming on Netflix, making it easy to catch up before the finale arrives.

I went into Lee Cronin’s The Mummy fired up! A horror movie from Lee Cronin playing in the sandbox of ancient mythology and monsters? Yeah, that’s absolutely my kind of thing!

The trailers teased something eerie and different, something that might twist the classic Mummy concept into a fresh nightmare. But what I got wasn’t really a Mummy movie at all. It felt like something else entirely wearing a blood-drenched disguise.

In the film, a journalist’s daughter vanishes in the desert, only to return years later in a way that should be emotional but quickly spirals into something disturbing. That hook had me locked in early.

The cast, including Jack Reynor, Laia Costa, and May Calamawy, does what they can to sell the situation. There’s an attempt to ground the horror in family trauma, but it never fully clicks. It just kind of drifts from scene to scene without pulling you in.

Here’s the thing, this movie plays way more like a possession flick than anything tied to Egyptian horror. Honestly, it feels like it’s trying to live in the same chaotic, blood-soaked world as Evil Dead Rise.

This time around though, it just doesn’t hit the same. Instead of feeling intense and unhinged, it comes off like a watered-down echo of something we’ve already seen done better.

That doesn’t mean it’s a total mess visually. Cronin still knows how to shoot a horror movie. There are some genuinely cool shots and moments of disturbing imagery that show he’s got a strong eye for this kind of storytelling.

The atmosphere works in bursts. You can see the vision he’s chasing. The problem is the story underneath all of that style just isn’t doing the heavy lifting it needs to.

The narrative is painfully familiar. We’ve seen this possession setup so many times that it starts to feel like you’re just waiting for each predictable beat to check itself off a list.

There’s nothing here that really redefines the genre or even gives it a fun twist. It just kind of exists, going through the motions while tossing in some mummy flavor that never really sticks.

The film definitely goes hard in the body horror and over-the-top gore department. If you like your horror messy, aggressive, and a little unhinged, there’s stuff here that’ll work for you.

But none of that matters if the story doesn’t hold up, and this one just doesn’t. The script feels thin, the characters make stupid decisions, and there’s a huge lack of basic logic that pulls you right out of it.

The biggest example is the core premise itself. There’s no believable reason this child would be sent straight back home with her after being locked away in a sarcophagus for several years!

Forget the supernatural element, they found a young girl alive in this thing, who they would assume has gone through physical and mental trauma. She would have been sent to a rehabilitation center where Katie would undergo psychiatric care and physical therapy.

The movie ignores reality just to force the horror into place instead of letting it grow naturally. That kind of situation should’ve been explored in a much more grounded and disturbing way, maybe in a controlled environment where the horror could really build. Instead, the movie leans into convenience over logic, and it hurts the whole experience.

Now yeah, if you’re in it purely for gore and body horror, there’s stuff here for you. The movie goes hard with the violence, especially in ways that might make some viewers squirm. But shock value only goes so far.

If the story and characters don’t connect, all that chaos starts to feel empty, and that’s exactly where this lands for me. I wasn’t invested, so the madness didn’t mean much.

Another thing that didn’t land is the tone. There are moments where it feels like it wants that dark humor edge, something Cronin handled really well before, but here it just feels off.

The humor doesn’t blend with the rest of the film, and the result is something that feels uneven. It’s like the movie isn’t sure what kind of experience it wants to be, and that confusion carries all the way through.

Then there’s the third act, which should be where everything goes wild and pulls you to the edge of your seat. Instead, I found myself checking out. It tries to escalate into something intense and chaotic, but it never grabbed me.

It felt like the same ending we’ve seen in countless possession movies, just louder and messier. More noise doesn’t always mean more excitement.

Walking out of this, I couldn’t help but feel disappointed. I really wanted this to be something unique, something that reimagined the Mummy in a cool and terrifying way.

Instead, it felt like a mashup of horror tropes that never fully commits to its own identity. It’s not scary, not memorable, and definitely not the reinvention it wants to be.

Honestly, I’d have rather seen Cronin go all-in on another Evil Dead movie. At least there, this kind of energy actually works.

Chucky isn’t done causing chaos. After the Chucky TV series wrapped up its three-season run, there’s been a lot of curiosity about where the killer doll would pop up next. Now we’ve got an answer, and it sounds like things are about to get a lot more sinister on the big screen.

Franchise mastermind Don Mancini has confirmed he’s currently writing a brand-new Child’s Play movie, and this one is aiming straight for theaters.

This update comes after Jennifer Tilly teased that “more Chucky is in the works,” sparking speculation about whether we’d see another series or a feature film. Mancini cleared that up during an appearance at Steel City Con in Pennsylvania, where he dropped some exciting details about the direction of the next chapter.

The new film is set to channel the tone of Curse of Chucky, the 2013 installment that took the franchise back to its horror roots. That movie initially felt like a reset before cleverly reconnecting itself to the larger story, and it leaned much harder into scares compared to the more comedic energy of Bride of Chucky and Seed of Chucky. Fans who’ve been craving a darker, creepier Chucky are probably going to like where this is headed.

Mancini, who also directed Cult of Chucky, has always been meticulous about continuity. Every project he’s been involved with exists within one connected timeline, and that won’t change here.

This new movie is expected to tie directly into the events of the TV series as well as the previous films, keeping that long-running narrative intact.

It’s also worth noting that while there was a remake of Child’s Play released a few years back, Mancini wasn’t involved in that version, and it exists completely outside his established universe.

According to reports, the goal with this upcoming film is to make the franchise scary again. The tone is said to echo not just Curse of Chucky, but also the first two original films that helped define the franchise’s horror identity, an unlike the recent TV run, this story is being crafted specifically for a theatrical experience, which should give it a bigger, more intense presence.

At this point, there are eight Child’s Play/Chucky movies if you count the remake, though only seven of those fall within Mancini’s continuity. This new project would push the saga forward as the ninth film overall, and the next chapter in the long-running timeline fans have been following for decades.

Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord isn’t just bringing back one of Star Wars’ most intense villains, it’s reworking how his power feels on screen in a way that’s honestly kind of wild. We’ve seen a lot of lightsabers over the years, but this series is doing something different.

The show already looks striking, with lightsabers that don’t have that usual clean, polished glow. Instead, these blades lash out like they’ve got a temper of their own.

They flicker, spit, and ripple like unstable fire, carving through scenes like living energy rather than controlled beams. It fits perfectly with Maul and the Inquisitors, who have never exactly been known for restraint. Everything about the visual design leans into chaos, and it works.

But the real kicker comes from the sound design, which somehow pushes things even further. According to supervising sound editor David W. Collins, the team added something unexpected into the mix. Not just generic effects, but actual human intensity baked right into the weapon.

Sam Witwer, the actor who has defined Maul’s animated voice for years is now part of the lightsaber itself. His screams, specifically, are layered into the sound of Maul’s blade. So every clash, every swing, every violent burst of energy carries a bit of that raw, unhinged energy straight from the actor.

It’s a bizarre but cool idea, that makes a strange kind of sense. Maul isn’t a calm, calculating Sith in the traditional sense. He’s volatile, obsessive, and constantly simmering. Letting his rage bleed directly into the sound of his weapon feels like a natural extension of that character.

The reveal came from a featurette that dives into the making of the series, where Collins breaks down how the soundscape came together. The footage also shows Witwer going all in, physically acting out movements for reference.

Lucasfilm made it clear this wasn’t motion capture, just visual guidance for the animators, but it’s still pretty entertaining to see Witwer fully commit to the role, even throwing on Maul-style tattoos during the process.

That level of dedication isn’t surprising if you’ve followed Witwer’s history with the character. He’s spent years shaping Maul into something far more layered than his original live-action appearance.

Now, with Shadow Lord, he’s literally embedded into the character in a new way. Not just the voice, but the fury itself.

It’s a small detail, but it says a lot about the creative direction of the show. Shadow Lord isn’t trying to play things safe. It’s pushing style, sound, and character all at once, making Maul feel more intense than ever.

The idea that his lightsaber is screaming along with him is exactly the kind of unhinged energy this character thrives on.

Few lines in modern blockbuster history have stuck in fans’ minds quite like “Somehow, Palpatine has returned.” Love it or hate it, it became one of the most talked-about moments in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and now Oscar Isaac is finally shedding light on how it all came together.

Isaac, who played Resistance pilot Poe Dameron across the sequel trilogy, recently sat down with Josh Horowitz on Happy Sad Confused and got candid about the infamous bit of dialogue that sparked years of debate among Star Wars fans.

According to Isaac, the line wasn’t part of some long-planned narrative thread. It came together late in the game during additional filming.

He explained, “Yeah, those were reshoots. We had to do reshoots. When I look at it now, I’m like, ‘The wig’s pretty good.’ I had already cut my hair and everything.

“Those are like surgical strikes where you come in and try to make sense of it all while they’re scrambling to get everything done. That line was a new addition right at the end.”

That last-minute scramble might explain why the line landed the way it did. The Rise of Skywalker already had a lot riding on it, tasked with wrapping up the entire Skywalker saga while juggling shifting creative decisions. Isaac’s comments hint at a production trying to pull all the threads together under pressure.

It’s kind of wild to realize that such a pivotal moment came together so late in the process. Isaac describing the production rushing to piece things together gives the scene a completely different context.

The Rise of Skywalker builds its entire conflict around Palpatine being back, yet the explanation never really lands in a satisfying way. Instead, the film throws out a quick acknowledgment through Poe, almost as if it knows the audience is asking the same question.

The intention may have been to hand things off to a more detailed explanation from Beaumont Kin, but what actually sticks is Poe’s reaction. That bit of frustration ends up doing more of the heavy lifting than the exposition itself.

What’s interesting is how much of the franchise has since tried to fill in those gaps. Over the last several years, multiple Star Wars stories have circled back to the idea, adding layers that weren’t there before. Star Wars: The Bad Batch leans into it with Project Necromancer, laying groundwork for how something like Palpatine’s return could even happen.

The Mandalorian touches on similar ideas, pulling Grogu into the mix because of his connection to midi-chlorians and their potential use. It’s a clear effort from Lucasfilm to tie everything together across the timeline, but revisiting it this often also puts a spotlight on how unclear it felt when audiences first heard that line.

In the end, bringing Palpatine back was one of the worst creative choices that J.J. Abrams could’ve made for Star Wars.

Even with the mixed reception, Isaac approached the moment with full commitment. He said, “There was a lot of movement and flux throughout the whole process.

“Had you asked me at that moment if I thought that was going to be the one that everyone would remember… I wouldn’t have known. But hey man, I committed to the exasperation!”

Looking back, it’s clear the actor understands the unexpected legacy of the line, even if it wasn’t meant to become such a lightning rod for criticism.

Isaac also took a moment to reflect on the earlier days of the sequel trilogy, especially working on Star Wars: The Force Awakens. That experience, for him, still stands as the high point of the journey.

“My favorite part was the experience of doing the first one,” he stated. “It was so wild. There was so much excitement, and everything was new.”

He continued, “The singularity of that thing was amazing; getting to meet JJ, becoming close with him, John, and Daisy, and reuniting with Adam because he had done Llewyn Davis with me. It was all just such an exciting moment.”

That sense of discovery clearly left a lasting impression, even as the trilogy evolved in unexpected and disappointing ways.

A failing actor writes the ultimate underdog story and must fight for his chance to play the role of a lifetime - Rocky Balboa.

The movie stars Anthony Ippolito (The Offer) as a young Sylvester Stallone, and it’s looking to capture the grit, desperation, and determination that launched one of cinema’s greatest underdog stories.

According to the logline, “The film tells the true story of Sylvester Stallone and his unshakable belief that he wasn’t just meant to write Rocky, he was meant to be Rocky Balboa.”

I Play Rocky is being directed by Peter Farrelly, the filmmaker behind Green Book, and is currently in production. Alongside Ippolito, the cast includes Stephan James as Carl Weathers, who originally brought Rocky’s rival Apollo Creed to life, as well as AnnaSophia Robb, Matt Dillon, P.J. Byrne, Tracy Letts, and Jay Duplass.

The movie comes to theaters November 20th, 2026

James Gunn just confirmed that cameras are rolling on Man of Tomorrow, the follow-up to Superman, and along with that announcement came a simple but intriguing first set photo. It doesn’t show any characters, explosions, or costumes… but it might be hinting at something even more interesting.

Gunn shared the update with a short message, “From the set of #ManofTomorrow. Shooting now,” but the image itself has sparked a wave of speculation.

Sitting on a table is a chessboard, placed next to a visitor badge tied to the VanKull Department of Corrections. That little detail suggests that Lex Luthor is behind bars when this story kicks off. But the real question is… who’s sitting across from him?

The chessboard is what’s really grabbing attention. Fans are already connecting the dots and wondering if Superman himself might be paying Luthor a visit. Not for a fight, but for something more strategic. A battle of intellect instead of fists.

That kind of face-off has roots in the comics, including Superman: Son of Kal-El Annual #1, which featured a similar setup between the two characters.

That issue even included a memorable exchange that feels very in line with what Gunn could be setting up here: “Imagine what we could have done as a team, Lex.”

“I’d be lying if I said the thought hadn’t crossed my mind. Lex Luthor and Superman. Together. An infinite mind and an infinite reach.”

It’s easy to imagine a scene like that playing out in Man of Tomorrow, especially if Luthor is operating from a prison cell while still pulling strings.

This next chapter in the DCU isn’t being labeled as a straight-up sequel, and Gunn has been clear about that from the start. Instead, it’s a continuation that expands the scope of the world.

Man of Tomorrow brings back David Corenswet as Kal-El and Nicholas Hoult as Luthor, while introducing a much bigger threat in the form of Brainiac, played by Lars Eidinger.

Brainiac’s arrival marks his first appearance on the big screen, and his connection to Krypton could have massive consequences for the DCU. His history with the destruction of Superman’s home world, along with the Bottle City of Kandor, opens the door for deeper cosmic storytelling.

It also puts other characters into play. Milly Alcock’s Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, could be directly impacted given her past with Krypton. On top of that, Aaron Pierre is set to return as John Stewart, tying into the upcoming Lanterns series and expanding the universe even further.

There’s also a wildcard casting that has fans guessing. Adria Arjona has joined the film, and it set to take on the role of Maxima.

The film is set to be released on July 9, 2027.

Marvel took a gamble nearly two decades ago on their vision for the superhero cinematic universe that we all know today as the MCU. They hired Robert Downey Jr. as the leader of the Avengers, and their choice ended up being the right one.

After Iron Man’s demise in the culminating event film Avengers: Endgame, Downey was out of the picture… until it was announced at Comic-Con 2024 that he would be returning- this time as the villain Doctor Doom in the upcoming movie Avengers: Doomsday.

Kevin Feige explained to Entertainment Weekly last week at Cinema Con, "We never lost touch with Downey" since he left the MCU. "He is ingrained in the fabric of the MCU for obvious reasons, and we would talk about when and how and if there could be a return."

He went on to talk about the point in time the architects at Marvel decided to bring Downey back, stating, "At the time, [Downey] was on his way to winning the Academy Award for Oppenheimer and there was every story about 'the greatest actor in the world,' and we thought, 'This could be it. Let's do it,'" Feige continued.

"It's our universe. It's a multiverse. We can do whatever the heck we want. He played the most iconic hero. Let's have him play the most iconic villain."

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, who helmed some of the biggest Marvel movies for the studio over the years, the new film Avengers: Doomsday will feature heroes from three distinct universes on a deadly collision course as they face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered.

The Russos also talked to the outlet, teasing the power that Doom packs. "Certainly with Doom, it's the problem in the extreme in that his power is so immense and so beyond. But that really liberates us all on a creative level, artistic level, to figure out where the complexities and the vulnerabilities are in the character," Anthony Russo says.

"They may have seemingly unlimited physical power, but there is something inside them where they are vulnerable, where they are exposed, where [there are] places that they need to protect even more intently than their physical selves. So I think the real fun of the storytelling is in that zone there."

Downey isn’t the only actor to return to the fold after a hiatus. He is joined in the upcoming film by Chris Evans, who will return as Steve Rogers. Previously released teasers highlighted Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the Thing/Ben Grimm, Ian McKellen as Magneto, James Marsden as Cyclops, Patrick Stewart as Professor Xavier, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Winston Duke as M'Baku, and Tenoch Huerta Mejia as Namor.

Footage screened in Vegas for CinemaCon (that hasn't been released online) highlighted Simu Liu as Shang-Chi battling Channing Tatum as Gambit; Rebecca Romijn's shapeshifting Mystique fighting Florence Pugh's Yelena; and a meeting between the Fantastic Four (including Pedro Pascal's Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby's Sue Storm, and Joseph Quinn's Johnny Storm), Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), and Scott Lang (Paul Rudd).

Fans of witchy romance and family curses finally have something exciting to look forward to. Warner Bros. has dropped the first teaser for Practical Magic 2, giving us a long-awaited glimpse at the return of the Owens sisters.

After years of hope for a sequel to the 1998 cult favorite, Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are back, and this time the magic feels heavier, darker, and a lot more dangerous.

The film picks up with Sally and Gillian Owens still dealing with the generational curse that has haunted their family for centuries.

Love has always come at a cost, and from the look of this teaser, that price hasn’t gotten any easier to pay. Instead, it’s pulling them into something deeper, forcing them to confront secrets that have lingered far too long.

The teaser opens with Sally’s voice setting the tone, pulling us right back into their eerie world: “I’m sure you’ve heard of the Owens family — the ones from Massachusetts, the ones their neighbors whisper are witches.”

That line reconnects the audience with the mythology that made the original film such a fan favorite. But things quickly take a turn when a mysterious character played by Lee Pace enters the picture. Sally doesn’t sugarcoat what it means to be close to them, warning him, “Everyone we love dies.”

Gillian, staying true to her sharp edge, follows it up with, “A really horrible death…It’s not great for the Tinder bio.”

That mix of dark humor and emotional weight is exactly what fans loved the first time around, and it looks like the sequel is leaning into it hard. There’s a sense that while the sisters have learned to live with the curse, they’re no longer willing to accept it.

The teaser is set to Harry Nilsson’s “Coconut Song,” and it also gives us a look at the next generation. Joey King and Maisie Williams play Sally’s daughters, who now find themselves entangled in the same dangerous legacy. The curse evolving, and it’s coming for them.

One of the teaser’s best exchanges captures the tension between the sisters. Sitting on a train with Pace’s character, Gillian tries to reassure everyone, saying, “Everything’s going to be okay.”

Sally immediately fires back, “Everything’s going to be okay? Just like it was when we had to bury a corpse under a rose bush? That kind of fine, or different?”

It’s a great reminder that their past is anything but normal, and whatever comes next won’t be either.

This time around, the film is directed by Susanne Bier, taking over from Griffin Dunne, who helmed the original adaptation of Alice Hoffman’s novel. The script comes from returning writer Akiva Goldsman, working alongside Succession writer Georgia Pritchett.

The cast also brings back familiar faces like Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing, while adding new energy with Xolo Maridueña and Solly McLeod.

After years in development, we finally have a first real look at director Duncan Jones’ Rogue Trooper. The UK comic powerhouse 2000 AD has released a teaser trailer for the long-anticipated animated adaptation, and while it’s brief, it’s enough to show that something pretty cool is taking shape.

This in Jones’ first project since Mute hit Netflix back in 2018. This time around, he’s diving back into sci-fi territory with a fully animated feature built entirely using Unreal Engine 5.

That technical ambition is a big reason this one has taken so long to get here. Producer Stuart Fenegan explained, "figuring out a new way of making a CG movie takes a while."

Based on the classic British comic created by Gerry Finley-Day and Dave Gibbons, the story centers on Rogue, played by Aneurin Barnard, a genetically engineered blue-skinned soldier known as a Genetic Infantryman.

He’s the lone survivor of a catastrophic mission and is on a relentless hunt for the Traitor General who sold out his squad. But Rogue isn’t exactly alone. His fallen teammates live on in a unique way, their personalities embedded into his gear.

Gunnar, voiced by Jack Lowden, is stored in his gun. Helm, voiced by Daryl McCormack, lives in his helmet. Bagman, voiced by Reece Shearsmith, rides along in his backpack. It’s a strange but awesome concept that fans of the comic have loved for years.

The cast also includes Hayley Atwell, Diane Morgan, Alice Lowe, Asa Butterfield, and Sean Bean.

Jones has had a personal connection to this story for a long time, and it actually shaped how he sees the characters. He shared:

"Rogue Trooper was always the one that felt most appealing to me. It’s funny, when I was in school, I was a big fan of Plato’s Republic and the tripartite division of the soul between the head, the stomach, and the heart.

“And I always read Rogue Trooper thinking of that division of the soul, with the characters of Bagman, Gunnar and Helm. And when we started making the film, I finally had the opportunity to talk to the authors and ask them if that had been in their thinking. Obviously, it wasn’t. [Laughs.] It wasn’t at all! but it meant something to me."

That perspective adds a cool layer to the concept. Even if it wasn’t intentional, it gives Rogue’s relationship with his squadmates a deeper emotional edge.

Jones is no stranger to sci-fi storytelling, having directed Moon, Source Code, and Warcraft, and you can feel that experience bleeding into this project already. The teaser doesn’t reveal much, but the visual style and tone suggest something gritty, strange, and very much in line with the comic’s DNA.

Right now, Rogue Trooper is still looking for distribution, so there’s no release date locked in yet. But after all this time, it’s just good to see some actual. If this teaser is any indication, this could end up being a pretty awesome adaptation.

I’m definitely ready to see more.

Alex Garland’s A24 Elden Ring movie is finally starting to really come together. What once sounded like an odd mix of prestige filmmaking and punishing fantasy gaming is now moving forward with serious momentum.

A24 has confirmed that Elden Ring will begin filming this spring, with a theatrical release set for March 3, 2028. This film project is a big swing for the studio, especially with a project rooted in one of the most atmospheric and cryptic video games ever made.

The adaptation is being helmed by Alex Garland, the filmmaker behind Ex Machina and Annihilation, which already gives us a pretty clear idea of the tone we might be in for.

Elden Ring exploded onto the scene in 2022 as a defining entry in the “soulslike” genre. Built on the foundation laid by Demon’s Souls and expanded through titles like Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Sekiro, the game drops players into the hauntingly beautiful Lands Between.

It’s a fractured world where the Elden Ring, once a symbol of order, has been shattered by Queen Marika. Her demigod children now wage war over its fragments, while exiled warriors known as Tarnished return to claim power and reshape the realm.

Translating that kind of layered, player-driven storytelling into a film isn’t exactly straightforward. The game thrives on ambiguity, environmental storytelling, and letting players piece things together at their own pace. Whether Garland leans into that mystery or reshapes it into something more traditional is the big question.

The production itself is aiming big. The film will be shot for IMAX, so A24 isn’t holding back when it comes to scale.

Producing are Peter Rice, Andrew Macdonald, and Allon Reich, alongside Vince Gerardis and George R. R. Martin. Martin played a key role in shaping the original game’s lore, working with Hidetaka Miyazaki during development.

The Lands Between are heading to the big screen, and it’s going to be fascinating to see how this strange and haunting world evolves into a cinematic experience.

After the massive success of Deadpool and Wolverine, it’s only a matter of time before we see the Merc with a Mouth back in action. But, if you’re expecting another solo spotlight for Wade Wilson, you might want to adjust those expectations a bit.

Ryan Reynolds recently opened up about where things stand with a potential fourth film, and it sounds like the early gears are already turning.

"I have some stuff kind of written," Reynolds said in an interview with Today, which is enough to get fans paying attention, especially after the last movie shattered expectations at the box office.

What’s more interesting is the direction he’s hinting at. "I think he’s a supporting character. He’s a guy that is great in a group," Reynolds added. This interesting shift for the character is something he has shared before.

Reynolds “was adamant he wouldn’t be doing a solo Deadpool movie following 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine.” The plan reportedly centers on a movie that includes “three or four” X-Men characters, while letting Deadpool stir the pot from the sidelines.

There’s something interesting about how certain movies age into relevance. A story that once felt like a quirky animated adventure suddenly hits a lot harder decades later. That’s exactly where FernGully: The Last Rainforest finds itself right now, as Amazon MGM Studios gears up to bring the classic back as a live-action film.

The new take on FernGully will be written and directed by Marielle Heller, who’s steadily built a reputation for character-driven storytelling with a lot of heart. Some of her films include Nightbitch, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, and The Diary of a Teenage Girl.

Heller is dusting off this old IP and is crafting her own script, and I imagine it will lean into something more grounded while still embracing the fantasy elements of the story.

For anyone who grew up with the 1992 film, FernGully had a surprisingly sharp environmental message wrapped in a colorful fantasy world.

The story follows a rainforest inhabited by fairies, where one of them accidentally shrinks a human logger down to their size. What starts as a fish-out-of-water scenario quickly turns into a fight to save the forest from destruction, led by both corporate greed and a literal pollution monster named Hexxus.

A lot of fans feel like James Cameron’s Avatar franchise was inspired by this movie as it carries many of the same themes.

The original cast includes Robin Williams, who delivered an unforgettable performance as Batty Koda, complete with the chaotic “Batty Rap” that still lives rent-free in fans’ heads.

Tim Curry brought menace and theatrical flair to Hexxus, while Christian Slater and Samantha Mathis grounded the human and fairy perspectives.

There was even some real-world drama tied to Williams at the time, as he was also voicing the Genie in Aladdin, which led to a bit of a tug-of-war over his involvement in competing animated projects.

Music also played a huge role in the film. Contributions from Elton John, Raffi, Sheena Easton, Curry, Williams, Johnny Clegg, and a track written by Jimmy Buffett gave the movie a unique sound.

When The Mandalorian and Grogu arrives in theaters, it’s stepping into some pretty high-stakes territory. That raises a big question… How do you make a movie that works for longtime fans while still welcoming people who’ve never watched a single episode?

Jon Favreau has been thinking a lot about that balance, and his answer is more interesting than you might expect.

Speaking with io9 and other press in Los Angeles, Favreau explained that figuring out the story wasn’t a straightforward process. Instead, it became a kind of creative push and pull between what they already had and what a theatrical experience demands.

“I think it’s a back-and-forth conversation,” Favreau said. “On the one hand, here’s the paint set you have. What could you do with it? So part of it is being inspired by what you have available to you and taking the limitations away from what it was [as a TV show].

“But it’s also a new challenge. We haven’t had this challenge since the beginning of season one, where people weren’t seeing Star Wars on Disney+. There were films in the movie theater. How do you engage? How do you connect with the audience in a way that’s meaningful but also something we’re excited about? What do we want to do?”

That mindset led to a story designed to land somewhere in the middle. It aims to reward fans who’ve followed Din Djarin and Grogu from the start, while also functioning as a fresh entry point for newcomers.

Favreau says the shift from episodic storytelling to a two-hour movie changed everything about how the story came together.

“Having a two-hour format completely reframes [things],” Favreau continued. “Because we were getting ready to do season four, and that’s different because that’s like, ‘Oh, people have seen everything up to this point. Where do you go from here?’

"This is like season one, episode one. Somebody might have seen everything Star Wars, and you gotta make it good for them because those are your people. That’s you. That’s me. But you also want to always have an outstretched hand to somebody new who may not have seen it before.

“You don’t want to be exclusionary. You want to bring the next generation in, and hopefully you could speak to both. Here? A two-hour format [is a] totally different trajectory and form. So I think the form informed the story more than the story informed the form.”

Favreau is essentially saying that the decision to make a movie helped shape what kind of story they told, rather than the story naturally demanding a theatrical format. It’s an approach that could go either way.

On one hand, it opens the door to a more accessible, streamlined adventure. On the other, it raises the question of whether the story will feel as big as a Star Wars movie should.

Favreau also hinted that audiences haven’t seen everything yet, even if the marketing has already shown quite a bit.

“We already showed you a lot, so I don’t want to open up the Christmas present too much,” he said. “But then we also knew that… if you knew everything, you’re peeking a little early. So there’s a lot to it.”

Whether The Mandalorian and Grogu sticks the landing or not, it’s going to be fascinating to see how this experiment plays out. Bridging the gap between streaming storytelling and blockbuster filmmaking isn’t easy, especially in a galaxy as beloved as this one.

Gotham is getting another imposing presence, and it sounds like he’s bringing some serious old-school authority with him. According to Deadline, Charles Dance is in talks to join The Batman: Part II, stepping into the ever-expanding world that Robert Pattinson and director Matt Reeves are building.

If the deal goes through, Dance will be adding a whole new layer of tension to Gotham’s already fragile power structure. According to sources, Dance would most likely play Charles Dent, the father of Harvey Dent, Gotham’s district attorney.

That puts him right at the center of a family that comic fans know doesn’t exactly have a smooth future. Harvey Dent is said to be played by Sebastian Stan, with Scarlett Johansson reportedly taking on the role of Dent’s wife. Nothing has been officially confirmed yet, and DC Studios hasn’t commented, but the pieces are lining up in a pretty interesting way.

DC Studios has had a rough time casting this role. They’ve already gone through actors like Stellen Skarsgard, Viggo Mortensen, Robert DeNiro, and Daniel Craig.

The film will once again be written and directed by Reeves, with DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran producing alongside Dylan Clark. Pattinson returns as Bruce Wayne, continuing the darker, grounded take on the character that made the first film stand out.

If Dance signs on, it’s hard not to see why he’d be a perfect fit. Fans still remember his commanding performance as Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones, where he played one of the most calculating and intimidating figures in Westeros.

Bringing that same energy into Gotham, especially as the patriarch of the Dent family, could create some intense dynamics both politically and personally.

Dance has stayed busy lately, appearing in projects like Frankenstein from Guillermo del Toro, where he played Dr. Frankenstein’s father, as well as the Peacock series Day of the Jackal.

With the Dent family entering the picture, The Batman: Part II is shaping up to dig even deeper into Gotham’s corruption and legacy power struggles. The sequel to The Batman is gearing up to begin production in the spring, with a theatrical release set for October 1, 2027.

During Disney’s CinemaCon presentation, it was confirmed that the Russo Brothers are bringing Avengers: Endgame back to theaters with new footage. At the time, details were kept under wraps, but now Joe Russo has finally opened up about what’s being added and how it ties into the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Speaking at the Sands Film Festival in St Andrews, Scotland, Russo dropped some pretty exciting details about what audiences will experience when the film returns to theaters on September 25.

“It’s critically important to re-release the movie, and, in fact, we’ll be re-releasing the film with footage that is set in the Doomsday story that we have added to Avengers: Endgame.”

This isn’t just bonus material or a few deleted scenes. The new footage is directly connected to the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, effectively turning Endgame into something bigger than it already was.

“It’s an opportunity to create a bridge from Endgame to Doomsday in a very unique way, and because the movie was so successful, we have an opportunity to re-release it.

“You don’t always get the chance to re-release because it costs money, so the fact that we can enhance the story of Doomsday by bridging it to Endgame and these characters that we worked with for years that we love so much, and continue their story: It’s a really unique opportunity.”

Russo went even further, calling this updated version of the film a “critical companion story” and a “setup for what you’re gonna watch in December when you see Avengers Doomsday.”

That’s a pretty wild concept. A re-release that actually moves the larger MCU narrative forward instead of just celebrating nostalgia.

For context, Avengers: Endgame wrapped up Phase Three of the Marvel Universe and pulled in over $2.799 billion worldwide. It centered on Josh Brolin’s Thanos and the Avengers’ desperate attempt to undo the devastation he caused. It also closed the book on several major characters, including Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark.

But in true Marvel fashion, nothing stays finished forever. Downey Jr. is set to return to the MCU, this time as the villain Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday. Russo shared how that unexpected twist came together:

“Downey started contemplating his return about 2 years ago, maybe 2.5 years ago,” Joe said.

“I was at dinner with him in New York, and he had mentioned to me that he was thinking about this, and the concept was for him to play the ultimate villain. He played the ultimate hero, and now he’s going to play the ultimate villain. I thought it was a very clever idea.”

According to Russo, it took reconnecting with longtime Marvel writer Stephen McFeely to finally crack the story in a way that made Doom’s introduction work within the larger arc.

Looking ahead, Russo made it clear that the next phase of Avengers films will lean heavily into serialized storytelling, much like the comics that inspired them.

“Serialized storytelling is the goal here,” he said. “That’s the fun, that’s the mission, alongside making movies that bring people together. I’d argue there are very few movie companies in history that have brought people together the way that Marvel movies have, fostering a sense of community in a theater.”

He continued: “The ultimate reward is fostering community at a time where community is in short supply.”

It’s an interesting move, turning a re-release into essential viewing. If this lands the way Russo is describing, fans won’t just be revisiting Endgame, they’ll be stepping into the next chapter of the MCU.

After decades away from live-action films, Rick Moranis is stepping back into the spotlight, and honestly, it feels a little surreal.

At CinemaCon 2026, we got out first real taste of Spaceballs: The New One, the long-awaited follow-up to Spaceballs, and one of the biggest highlights was seeing Moranis back in character as Dark Helmet.

The actor, now 72, is returning to the role of Lone Starr's father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate, and if that sentence still makes sense to you, you're exactly the audience this sequel is aiming for.

This marks Moranis’ first live-action film in over 20 years, making his return even more special for longtime fans of the original Mel Brooks comedy.

Before the big presentation, Moranis caught up with Daphne Zuniga, who’s also back as Queen Vespa, and the two shared what it felt like stepping back into this ridiculous universe after nearly four decades.

"Most of the time, certainly in the beginning when I was in costume and on the set, I would look at Bill or Daphne and go, 'I don't believe this. How is this possible 39 years later?'" Moranis recalled.

"Especially with Bill, who came along with a son this time," he continued, referring to Lewis Pullman.

Pullman is joining the comedic chaos as Starburst, the son of Queen Vespa and Lone Starr, played once again by Bill Pullman. That generational crossover adds a fun twist, and it sounds like the cast felt that energy on set.

Zuniga shared the same excitement about returning, saying, "I was just like, 'How am I so lucky?' It's great to work in this business, and sometimes you do things and they're great or they are alright, but this was like a dream. Just a dream to go, at this point in my life, to be able to go play and be silly."

That sense of play carried into the filming process, especially under director Josh Greenbaum. "We would do a take and then Josh Greenbaum, our director, would go, 'We're going again, just try saying this and try saying that.'" It was like play and improve. The camera would keep rolling. It was just fun, creatively fun," she said.

The sequel, officially titled Spaceballs: The New One, is set to hit theaters on April 23, 2027, courtesy of Amazon MGM Studios. Plot details are still tightly guarded, with the studio joking that the story is protected by “an industrial-strength Schwartz shield.”

Even so, we got an exciting peek at footage and it pokes fun at everything from Star Wars to Avatar to Harry Potter. There’s even a desert sequence that echoes Star Wars: The Force Awakens, complete with wandering explorers and a character frozen in carbonite like Han Solo.

And in true Spaceballs fashion, one moment has Dark Helmet standing at a urinal next to a Na’vi. So, nothing is off-limits.

After 40 years of sci-fi evolution, there’s a lot of material to parody, and it sounds like this sequel is going all in. If the cast’s enthusiasm is anything to go by, Spaceballs: The New One is sure to pull off something rare: a comedy sequel that feels worth the wait.

Now the real question is whether the Schwartz is still strong with this one.

Paramount came out swinging at CinemaCon with a first look at Heart of the Beast, a rugged survival thriller that throws Brad Pitt into one of his most intense roles yet.

The film reunites Pitt with director David Ayer, marking their first collaboration since Fury, and it looks like they’ve traded tanks for something far more primal this time around.

Set against the brutal backdrop of the Alaskan wilderness, Heart of the Beast follows a former Army Special Forces soldier played by Pitt, who finds himself stranded after a devastating plane crash.

He isn’t alone, though. At his side is his retired combat dog, and together they’re forced into a relentless fight to stay alive in a landscape that doesn’t care if they make it out.

In the footage we saw, Pitt’s character is pushed to his limits as he fends off bears, wolves, and whatever else the wild throws at him, all while carrying out what’s described as “one last mission” for survival alongside his loyal dog companion. It’s gritty, raw, and doesn’t look like it’s pulling any punches.

From what I saw, this looks like a savage yet heartfelt survival story that is going to keep audiences on the edge of their seat. This looks like a great that pack an emotional punch.

There’s a strong emotional thread running through it, especially in the bond between the soldier and his dog. That relationship looks like it’s going to be the core of the story, grounding all the chaos in something personal and human.

The script comes from Cameron Alexander, who also serves as an executive producer. The cast includes J.K. Simmons and Anna Lambe.

Paramount confirmed the film is set for a fall release, though they’re keeping the exact date under wraps for now.

Heart of the Beast isn’t just another survival movie. It’s shaping up to be a brutal, emotional ride that leans hard into both the physical and psychological toll of staying alive when everything is trying to take you down.

A new Marvel movie reumor is making the rounds that Avengers: Secret Wars could bring back one of the franchise’s most beloved space adventurers, and honestly, it lines up a little too well with what we’ve been hearing for a while.

According to scooper MTTSH, Star-Lord, played by Chris Pratt, is expected to make his return in Secret Wars. If that ends up being true, it would mark the first time we’ve seen Peter Quill since Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 closed out his most recent chapter.

That film didn’t exactly leave things unresolved. It literally promised us more. The closing title card made it clear: “the mighty Star-Lord will return.” Since then, though, Marvel has kept quiet about when and where that comeback would happen.

It also fits with the larger picture Marvel Studios seems to be building. Avengers: Doomsday is already shaping up to be packed with characters, but everything we’re hearing suggests Secret Wars is where things go completely off the rails, and it will change everything.

Pratt himself hasn’t confirmed anything concrete, but he hasn’t exactly ruled it out either. When asked about a possible return, he said:

"Yes and no. Everything is fluid at Marvel. They take things a step at a time. I'm happy to do anything they want, and I personally have a really strong vision of what I would want him to do. I think it's f*cking great. I've made my pitch. I'm down to contribute any way I can to setting up the next 10 years of storytelling."

There was also talk not too long ago about a standalone Star-Lord project spinning out of Guardians Vol. 3. That idea picked up traction before fading out, likely tied to James Gunn stepping away from Marvel to take over at DC Studios. Without Gunn steering that corner of the universe, plans are sure to have shifted behind the scenes.

Meanwhile, the Guardians themselves have already evolved. By the end of Guardians Vol. 3, Rocket Raccoon had stepped up as the new leader, with a fresh lineup forming around him. Whether that team crosses paths with Quill again or shows up elsewhere in the MCU is still a big question mark.

As for the bigger picture, Marvel’s timeline has gone through some reshuffling. Avengers: Doomsday is currently set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026, while Avengers: Secret Wars is slated for December 17, 2027.

Horror fans were more than ready for Evil Dead Rise director Lee Cronin to keep the blood-soaked momentum going with another installment. Instead, he made a move that might surprise a lot of people.

Rather than sticking with a proven hit, Cronin chose to step away and gamble on something completely different… a new take on The Mummy. That decision says a lot about the kind of filmmaker he wants to be.

Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise wasn’t just another entry in the long-running franchise. It hit hard with audiences, pulling in $147 million on a $14 million budget and re-energizing the series in a big way.

Starring Lily Sullivan and Alyssa Sutherland, the film followed two estranged sisters dealing with a demonic nightmare unleashed by that infamous book. It was brutal, emotional, and exactly what fans wanted.

Naturally, the studio wasted no time lining up more chaos with Evil Dead Burn and Evil Dead Wrath, set to be directed by Sebastian Vanicek and Francis Gallupi. Cronin could’ve easily stayed in that world.

But he didn’t want easy. Cronin explained:

"The risk was not making a sequel to my last movie, because that was really easy for me to do. I said no, ultimately, because I wanted to do something else, and I like to take a risk and gamble.

“The other risk factor is there's brilliant movies called The Mummy but they've also been there since the '30s. It's not just about Brendan Fraser, 25 years ago, but there's a risk because modern culture probably looks at those movies that way.

"Maybe the Tom Cruise one wasn't necessarily as well received, although I really enjoyed that film, but for me, the risk was breaking the mould in terms of what people will expect. It's going to definitely surprise people, but when you make a movie, you have to take a risk, because it might be your last chance to make something, and repeating a trick is a sin to me."

Instead of playing it safe with a guaranteed hit, Cronin is diving headfirst into a franchise that carries a lot of baggage and expectations. From the classic Universal monster era to the beloved Brendan Fraser adventure films and even the more recent Tom Cruise reboot attempt, The Mummy has had a long complicated legacy.

Cronin’s version is going in a darker, more personal direction. The story centers on a journalist, played by Jack Reynor, and his wife, played by Lai Costa, whose young daughter vanishes in the desert. Years later, she suddenly returns, but something is very wrong.

The setup leans heavily into eerie family horror, which lines up nicely with the emotional core that made Evil Dead Rise hit so hard. It just didn’t work as weel with this one.

Cronin wasn’t trying to recreate past versions of The Mummy. He wanted to reshape it into something more unsettling and intimate, which might be what the franchise needs, but the execution didn’t quite land with audeinces.

There’s always risk in stepping away from something that works, especially when fans are asking for more. But Cronin seems fully aware of that and is embracing it.

Jake Schreier is on a roll lately, with the success of the Netflix series Beef, and the Marvel movie Thunderbolts.

After making the show Beef, Schreier was anxious to bring star Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead, Minari, Invincible) with him to his next project, and he cast Yeun in the role of Bob aka The Sentry in Thunderbolts*.

But after a scheduling conflict, Yeun had to depart the film, and the role was recast with Lewis Pullman, who did a fantastic job.

Yeun has previously said that he's open to playing another Marvel character if the opportunity presents itself, and Schreier has seemingly hinted that he might have a role for the actor in the upcoming X-Men reboot, which he is set to helm.

Shreier recently told Movieweb.com, "I love Steven very dearly, and he's one of the very best actors that we have, so, I mean, I would never not be looking for places to [cast him] —but no specifics."

No casting has been revealed for the X-Men reboot, but it will be interesting to see who will play these iconic characters. Schreier recently revealed that his Thunderbolts* scribes Sonny Lee Sung Jin (Beef) and Joanna Calo (The Bear) have joined the film to write a new draft of Michael Lesslie's script.

During CinemaCon, Disney surprised us with footage from an awesome and intense new film titled Whalefall, and this is a movie that you won’t want to miss! It looks so good!

The film is described as The Martian meets 127 Hours, centering on a scuba diver in search of his deceased father’s remains who gets swallowed by an 80-foot, 60-ton sperm whale and has only one hour to escape before his oxygen runs out.

After giving up on life, the young man is surprised to find a reason to live in the most dangerous and unlikely of places.

Josh Brolin (The Goonies, Avengers: Endgame, Dune) stars alongside Austin Abrams (Euphoria, Wolfs) in the film, which is an adaptation of the Daniel Kraus novel Whalefall, with Brian Duffield (Love and Monsters, No One Will Save You) directing.

There’s some disappointing news coming out of Netflix, especially for fans of sports dramas. The film project Perfect, which was set to tell the incredible true story of Olympic gymnast Kerri Strug, has officially been scrapped.

The project hit a major roadblock after Millie Bobby Brown exited the film, and it looks like that was enough for Netflix to pull the plug entirely.

Brown was attached to play Strug, the Olympic hero who became a defining figure of the 1996 Summer Games. According to sources, her departure stemmed from creative differences with producers.

While neither Netflix nor Brown’s team offered any comment, the fallout clearly had a ripple effect that the production couldn’t recover from.

This one had a strong creative team behind it. Gia Coppola was originally set to direct before stepping away earlier this year, with Cate Shortland coming in as her replacement. The script came from Ronnie Sandahl, and the film was gearing up to begin production this summer. Instead, it’s now been shelved completely.

The story at the center of Perfect is one that sports fans know by heart. Strug was part of the legendary “Magnificent Seven,” the U.S. women’s gymnastics team that took gold in Atlanta.

Her final vault, performed on an injured ankle, became one of the most unforgettable moments in Olympic history. The image of her sticking the landing, only for her ankle to give out moments later, and then being carried off by her coach Béla Károlyi, is burned into sports history.

It sucks that the project was cancelled. This is the kind of real-life story that feels tailor-made for a compelling film. And honestly, it’s surprising Netflix didn’t try to recast the role and keep things moving. There are plenty of more talented actresses who could’ve stepped in and brought Strug’s story to life.

Even with this setback, Netflix and Brown are still very much in business together. The streamer is gearing up for Enola Holmes 3, which is expected to arrive sometime this year. Brown also has other projects in development with Netflix, including Just Picture It and Nineteen Steps, the latter based on her own novel.

Of course, both Netflix and Brown are coming off the massive success of Stranger Things, which wrapped its run with a record-breaking final season in December.

Still, it’s hard not to feel like Perfect was a missed opportunity, especially with a recasting possibility.

Quiver Distribution just released the trailer and it does what action trailers are supposed to do and it’s filled with action, moral compromise, and a ticking clock.

Lily, played by Canadian stuntwoman and martial artist Orphée Ladouceur-Nguyen, gets a call from a mysterious voice that makes her an offer she can't refuse.

Her husband has been kidnapped. The price of his return? She has to assassinate a string of high-level criminals while unraveling a web of corruption that goes deeper than anyone expected.

The cast rounds out with Tim Rozon, Mitra Suri, Alain Moussi, and Lisa Berry. Ladouceur-Nguyen herself is worth paying attention to here. Casting an actual stuntwoman in the lead of a stunt-heavy film is a solid move. The action sequences in the trailer carry a physicality that's harder to fake when you're working with someone who has spent years building that skill set.

The film comes from writer-director James Mark, a stuntman-turned-filmmaker who has been building out a filmography in this exact lane. Kill Order, On the Ropes, Enhanced, Control, Fight Another Day, and now this.

He isn't reinventing anything here, and he probably knows that, but this is a filmmaker who understands action choreography from the ground up and keeps making scrappy, committed genre films without a lot of fuss.

Is this movie going to change your life? Almost certainly not. But if you're the kind of person who watches a trailer and thinks, "yeah, I'll watch a woman methodically dismantle an organized crime syndicate on a Friday night," this one seems to know exactly what it's trying to be, and it's trying to be that with some real conviction.

It looks like the world of The Lands Between is starting to take physical shape. A new video leak tied to the upcoming live-action Elden Ring movie has surfaced online, and it might give us our first real glimpse at one of the game’s most iconic locations.

A content creator named Throxtv reportedly stumbled across what appears to be part of the film’s set, believed to be located somewhere in England.

In the footage shared on social media, you can clearly see a large-scale recreation that strongly resembles the Church of Marika. The set features crumbling stone walls, a weathered, ancient atmosphere, and at the center stands a statue that looks strikingly similar to Queen Marika the Eternal herself.

The videos didn’t take long to spread, and once they did, the reaction was immediate. Fans of the game quickly began breaking down every detail, comparing the set design to in-game locations.

From what’s visible, the level of accuracy is pretty impressive. It’s pretty cool seeing the the location of this epic game being brought to life! It looks very accurate. But, as epected its gettiing mixed reactions from frans.

This adaptation is being written and directed by Alex Garland, which alone has people curious about how the story will be handled. Garland has a strong track record when it comes to atmospheric and thought-provoking storytelling, so expectations are high even though we still don’t know what narrative direction the film will take.

Personally, there’s one storyline that feels like a perfect fit for Garland’s style. The tale of Vyke the Dragonspear would be an awesome choice. It’s a tragic and layered arc that could translate incredibly well to film. It’s the kind of story that leans into character, downfall, and myth, all things Garland tends to handle really well.

At this point, there’s still no official release date, and details are being kept tightly under wraps. But with a set like this already built and seemingly ready to go, it feels like production could ramp up soon.

For now, this leak is the closest thing we’ve got to stepping into this live-action version of Elden Ring, and if this is any indication of what’s coming, it might end up looking pretty damn cool.

We’ve all watched Mario lose a life and instantly jumped back into the action without a second thought, but this animated comedy sketch flips that familiar moment into something hilariously uncomfortable by asking a question nobody really wanted answered.

Instead of a clean reset, the video lingers on the aftermath, where a couple of baffled enemies are stuck dealing with the reality of what they’ve just done to the world’s most famous plumber, and it quickly spirals into dark, absurd comedy.

It turns a simple defeat into an awkward, almost existential cleanup job. It’s weird, a little messed up, and exactly the kind of offbeat humor that makes you rethink all those countless extra lives you burned through as a kid.

During the WB presentation today at CinemaCon 2026 we were able to have a first look at J.J. Abrams’ The Great Beyond, which he wrote and directed. I knew nothing going into this and now I am intrigued. Check out the video and let us know what you think.

Plot details haven’t been shared, but according to reports, the story centers on “an author of popular fantasy novels who reveals that the mythical world he’s known for creating is actually real, sending the lead character (Powell) on a quest.”

During their big CinemaCon presentation, Universal Pictures shared the first footage from director Robert Eggers’ Werwulf, which stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson. This movie looks unlike any werewolf movie we’ve seen before, and this is our reaction to what we witnessed.

Werwulf marks Eggers’ return to Focus Features after the massive success of Nosferatu. He’s sticking close to the genre that has become his signature with another dark tale, co-written with his The Northman writing partner Sjón.

As the title suggests, this is a full-on werewolf movie set in 13th century England. Story details are still under wraps, but the script is described as containing “dialogue that was true to the time period and has translations and annotations for those uninitiated to Old English.”

Werwulf is slated to release on Christmas Day 2026

Academy Award winner Gwyneth Paltrow (Shakespeare In love, Iron Man) has found her next film role in the movie adaptation of Belle Burden’s hit book “Strangers: A Memoir of Marriage.”

Netflix landed rights to the memoir this week in a heated six-way auction. UTA brokered the deal for Burden, whose New York Times bestseller captivated the country this year with a devastating and candid look at the dissolution of a marriage.

Producer Stacey Sher is on board to handle the project, with acclaimed screenwriter Heidi Schreck set to adapt the script. Paltrow will star and executive produce.

Burden is an immigration attorney and the granddaughter of society matriarch Babe Paley. Her memoir kicks off six years ago, when Burden sat “safe and secure with her family at their house on Martha’s Vineyard, navigating the early days of the pandemic together — building fires in the late afternoons, drinking whisky sours, making roast chicken.

Then, with no warning or explanation, her husband of 20 years announced that he was leaving her. Overnight, her caring, steady partner became a man she hardly recognized.” The larger work, per publisher The Dial Press, “revisits her marriage, searching for clues that her husband was not who she always thought he was.

As she examines her relationship through a new lens, she reckons with her own family history and the lessons she intuited about how a woman is expected to behave in the face of betrayal.”

During the WB presentation today at CinemaCon 2026 we were graced with a full clip from the upcoming Mortal Kombat II.

This was the most Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat clip that you could think of. Granted, the movie was made more for cool visuals not story and it does not let you down as far as that goes. Check out the video and enjoy.

In the film, Johnny Cage joins Earthrealm’s champions as they square off against the ruthless Shao Khan. If you know the games, you already understand the stakes. If you don’t, let’s just say the fate of an entire realm hangs in the balance.

CinemaCon audiences just got their first look at The Social Reckoning, the long-awaited follow-up to The Social Network, and it sounds like Aaron Sorkin isn’t revisiting familiar ground just for nostalgia.

This sequel is aiming straight at the fallout of Facebook’s global influence, and from the footage shown, it leans hard into thriller territory with real-world stakes.

Sony brought the project to the annual convention with a strong cast lineup that includes Mikey Madison, Jeremy Allen White, Bill Burr, and Jeremy Strong stepping into the role of Mark Zuckerberg. It’s a mix that feels unexpected but interesting, especially with Sorkin in the driver’s seat.

The film shifts focus to events years after Facebook’s creation, diving into the whistleblower story of Frances Haugen. Madison plays Haugen, a young engineer who teams up with White’s Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz to expose internal truths about the company.

According to Sony executive Sanford Panitch, the movie plays as a “thriller,” framing the story as a David versus Goliath battle against a tech empire that has grown far beyond its origins.

Sorkin made it clear why he felt compelled to return to this world, telling the CinemaCon crowd, “There isn’t a life that Facebook’s algorithm hasn’t touched, and that influence has shaped everything. So it’s time to say more.”

The footage shown leans into that idea. Haugen’s conversations with Horwitz reveal a company fully aware of the damage its platform could cause, especially to younger users. The trailer also touches on the spread of misinformation and how it fed into real-world political violence, raising the stakes far beyond what we saw in the original film.

And then there’s Zuckerberg. Jeremy Strong’s take on the Facebook founder was one of the most talked-about elements coming out of the presentation. With a distinct look and controlled delivery, his version of Zuckerberg feels less like a coding prodigy and more like a powerful figure used to being in control.

In one tense exchange, Bill Burr’s character calls him out for a “firehose of bad information you are injecting into the atmosphere.”

Strong’s Zuckerberg fires back with: “When I say ‘no,’ that’s the end of the debate. I’m not two years out of a dorm room anymore, take a look around!”

That dynamic gives teases a sharper edge for the film, positioning Zuckerberg as a looming presence rather than the scrappy outsider we saw before.

That said, Strong’s casting might be the biggest question mark. He’s an incredible actor, no doubt, but seeing him as Zuckerberg feels a little off. He comes across older than the real-life figure at this stage of the story, and there’s something slightly awkward in how he embodies the role. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s definitely something that stands out.

Still, everything else about The Social Reckoning sounds like it’s hitting the right notes. The subject matter is timely, the cast is loaded with talent, and Sorkin clearly has more to say about the ripple effects of social media on modern life.

The film is set to hit theaters on October 9. Whether it lives up to the legacy of The Social Network remains to be seen, but it’s a story about consequences, and it’s stepping into much darker territory this time around.

If you’ve ever wondered what a courtroom run by a completely scatterbrained Muppet might look like, Judge Boing Boing has you covered.

The web series, dreamed up by legendary puppeteers Frank Oz and Bill Barretta, leans fully into playful chaos with a judge who barely seems to understand what’s happening and a staff that somehow keeps things moving anyway.

“Welcome to Judge Boing Boing’s court!”

The show is a collection of short, offbeat videos centered on an absent-minded judge whose rulings feel like they could go off the rails at any moment. It’s goofy, a little unpredictable, and very much in the spirit of classic Muppet-style humor where the characters drive the comedy.

The project came together in a surprisingly loose, almost accidental way. While promoting the documentary Muppet Guys Talking in New York City, Oz and Barretta found themselves riffing during downtime, and something clicked. Barretta recalled how the whole thing started from a random bit that spiraled into something bigger:

“I think we were at your apartment waiting to go to the next place where we were going to do some press…somebody asked me something, and I went into the Ed Wynn character for some dumb reason, and I don’t know why, but I started I responded that way.

“And then somebody else, I think you started asking me other questions, and it just was stupid and silly, but I don’t remember how it became a judge.”

That improvisational spark is baked into the DNA of the series. It’s just two seasoned performers following a ridiculous idea wherever it leads.

Production eventually landed on Stage 15 at MGM Studios in 2025, giving the project a proper stage while still keeping its scrappy, playful energy intact. The result is a show that feels both polished and spontaneous at the same time.

Judge Boing Boing is about letting comedy breathe. There’s no heavy premise or deep mythology to track. It’s just a bizarre courtroom, a confused judge, and a team trying to make sense of it all.

For fans of Oz and Barretta, it’s a fun reminder of what happens when talented puppeteers are given space to just mess around and follow their instincts.

NEON came out swinging at this year’s CinemaCon with a first look at its upcoming psychological thriller A Place In Hell, and it looks like a brutal showdown powered by two incredible leads.

Michelle Williams and Daisy Edgar-Jones square off in a story that leans hard into ambition, rivalry, and the kind of tension that tears things apart.

The film is written and directed by Chloe Domont, who previously delivered the intense relationship drama Fair Play, and she’s clearly sticking with characters who don’t hold back when things get ugly.

The footage screened for for us sees Williams play a ruthless criminal defense attorney who’s right on the edge of making partner. Everything she’s worked toward starts slipping when Edgar-Jones steps in as a younger, sharper replacement.

What starts as professional friction spirals into something much more dangerous as they’re forced to work the same complicated case.

There’s a moment in the footage where everything shifts and it defines the whole movie’s energy. Edgar-Jones’ character is pushed past her limit ans she grips a metal pipe and delivers the threat, “I’m not just going to replace you .. I am going to destroy your f–king life.” “It’s you or me.”

This isn’t just office politics. The dynamic between Williams and Edgar-Jones looks incredibly intense. It’s not just about career survival, who gets to come out on top when everything is on the line. Domont seems to be dialing up the psychological pressure, turning a legal drama into something far more volatile.

NEON has locked in a Christmas Day release, planting A Place In Hell right in the middle of awards season. Based on this early footage, it’s aiming to be one of those character-driven thrillers that gets people talking.

With A Place In Hell, NEON is clearly to lean into intense, character-driven storytelling with a sharp edge. It looks like a great film that is going to feature fierce performances from its lead stars.

If you thought Liquid Death couldn’t get any weirder after its music-streaming urn stunt, think again. The offbeat beverage brand has now teamed up with Pit Viper to create something hilariously unnecessary yet strangely perfect.

They’ve introduced UV-protective performance sunglasses designed specifically for dead people, because apparently even the afterlife comes with harsh lighting conditions.

The concept leans fully into the absurd, imagining a world where the deceased need proper eye protection so they can safely “see the light” without frying their ghostly retinas, all while looking like they’re ready to headline a heavy metal tour.

It’s exactly the kind of chaotic marketing energy you’d expect from Liquid Death, blending dark humor with over-the-top branding in a way that just works.

Whether you see it as a clever gag or just enjoy the ridiculousness, one thing’s clear: even in the afterlife, style matters.

Directed by Craig Gillespie, the film sees Milly Alcock stepping fully into the spotlight as Kara Zor-El after teasing fans with her appearance at the end of Superman (2025), directed by James Gunn. This time, it’s her story, and it looks like it’s going to be a wild adventure.

The story draws inspiration from Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, and it looks like the film is keeping that same emotional backbone. Kara agrees to help Ruthye track down Krem, partly to help her new friend, and partly because she’s got her own reasons to settle the score.

The movie is set to hit theaters on June 26.

Lionsgate has released an extensive video ahead of the prequel The Hunger Games: Sunrise On the Reaping, that dives into the history of The Hunger Games film franchise.

It’s an extensive video that is sure to delight fans, but the final minute is the most intriguing. It gives us a first look at the younger version of some of the beloved characters from the movies, including Elle Fanning as Effie Trinket, Kieran Culkin as Caesar Flickerman, Jesse Plemons as Plutarch Heavensbee, Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Beetee Latier, Ralph Fiennes as President Coriolanus Snow, Lili Taylor as Mags Flanagan, Joseph Zada as Haymitch Abernathy and Maya Hawke as Wiress.

The cast also includes Glenn Close as Drusilla Sickle, Mckenna Grace as Maysilee Donner, Billy Porter as Magno Stift, Ben Wang as Wyatt Callow, Whitney Peak as Lenore Dove Baird and Iris Apatow as Proserpina Trinket.

The next chapter of the killer animatronic saga, Five Nights at Freddy’s, is starting to take shape, and it sounds like the creative team might be getting a bit of a shake-up.

While the first two films in the series came directly from the mind of the game’s creator, the upcoming third installment may be bringing in a new group of writers to steer the story.

During a recent convention appearance, Skeet Ulrich, who plays Henry Emily in the films, shared a small update on where things stand with the next movie in the franchise.

According to him, the script for the third movie is still early in development and the studio has reportedly hired new writers to work on it.

Ulrich spoke about the project while appearing at Monster Mania Con and hinted that his character and the franchise’s central villain may play a bigger role this time around.

"There's supposedly a lot of Henry Emily and William Afton. But to be honest, they're writing it now. They've just hired the writers, so they're... it's too early for me to say."

The first two films were written by the video game series creator Scott Cawthon and directed by Emma Tammi. Those movies turned into major box office hits despite critics being far less enthusiastic.

The first film currently sits at a 33% score on Rotten Tomatoes from critics, though audiences were much more forgiving, giving it an 86% rating.

The sequel followed a similar path. It pulled in strong ticket sales but critics were even harsher, landing the movie at a 16% score while audiences still showed up and gave it an 83%.

Bringing in a new writing team could be an attempt to push the next installment toward stronger critical reception while still keeping the fan-friendly energy that helped the first two movies succeed at the box office.

Even if new writers are involved, it seems likely that Cawthon will still receive some kind of writing credit given his role as the franchise creator.

Personally, part of the fun of these movies is that they ignore a lot of typical cinematic expectations and just lean into being spooky entertainment aimed at younger horror fans. They feel like creepy campfire stories built around killer animatronics, and that weird charm is part of why audiences keep coming back.

I enjoyed the films! There pretty much exactly what I expected to see from the franchise, and it’s fun and playful horror.

The first movie arrived in 2023, with the sequel landing in 2025. If the production schedule follows that same rhythm, fans will probably see Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 hit theaters sometime in late 2027. There’s also a chance this third film could wrap up the current story, though nothing official has been confirmed yet.

Either way, it looks like Freddy Fazbear and his nightmare crew aren’t done haunting theaters just yet.

I haven’t seen much conversation around Green Arrow making his way into the new DCU, but a familiar face from the past has stepped forward with some interest.

Smallville alum Justin Hartley has shared that he’d be more than happy to suit up again as Oliver Queen, though he’s hoping the look gets a modern upgrade if it happens.

Back in its run, Smallville didn’t just focus on Clark Kent’s journey. It also gave fans a live-action taste of an early Justice League lineup. The team featured Bart Allen as The Flash, Oliver Queen as Green Arrow, Clark Kent as Superman, Arthur Curry as Aquaman, and Victor Stone as Cyborg.

At the time, that was a huge deal for DC fans. Seeing even a proto-version of the Justice League on TV in 2007 felt like something special, even if it looks a bit modest compared to what we’ve seen since with massive superhero team-ups on the big screen.

There had been hope that the story might continue in an animated revival of Smallville, but that project hasn’t come together as expected. As it stands, it doesn’t look like those versions of the characters are returning anytime soon.

Hartley, meanwhile, has stayed plenty busy since hanging up the bow. He found major success with roles in This Is Us and Tracker, showing a completely different side of his range. But it turns out he hasn’t closed the door on the superhero world.

While appearing on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Hartley opened up about the idea of stepping back into Oliver Queen’s boots, saying:

"I would love to play a superhero again; I would love that."

He also expanded on how his perspective has changed since his Smallville days:

"You know, there are so many interesting ones that have been portrayed, and there are so many interesting ones that haven't yet been portrayed.

“What I think would be really cool, though, now that I'm older, I have different life experiences, and I would approach it differently, and I think it would be a different story. I'd like to jump back into that Green Arrow suit on."

Fans online have already started rallying behind the idea, but Hartley does have one condition before he locks in. He’s ready for a wardrobe refresh:

"Maybe not that exact suit, but something a little hipper."

That’s fair. Superhero suits have come a long way since the CW days. Hartley also teased how a return could explore a more seasoned version of Oliver Queen:

"I think you'd find him in a different place, and you could tell different stories. He's been through stuff, and I think it would be interesting. Yeah, I would love that."

After Smallville, DC TV quickly pivoted into Arrow, which built its own universe with shows like The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow, eventually forming the Arrowverse.

That version of Green Arrow, played by Stephen Amell, became iconic in its own right. But now, with DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn steering a brand-new cinematic universe, there’s an opportunity to reintroduce the Emerald Archer in a fresh way.

Gunn has made it clear he’s a fan of the character, and there’s talk that Green Arrow could factor into future DCU plans. Bringing Hartley’s back is a sgretch, but seeing him as an older, more experienced Oliver Queen could be a fun twist, especially for longtime fans who grew up watching Smallville.

Chancs are, when they do bring this character back, Gunn will start from scratch with a whole new and younger actor in the role.

There’s a lot to love about the recently released film Project Hail Mary. It’s got big ideas, heart, and it tells the story of one of the best unlikely friendships.

But, one of the film’s other interesting ideas barely got any screen time at all, and I think the story might be strong enough to carry its own movie, like a companion film.

I’m talking about Eva Stratt’s story.

While Ryland Grace, played by Ryan Gosling, is out in deep space trying to save humanity, there’s an entirely different kind of chaos unfolding back on Earth. It’s something that feels less like sci-fi adventure and more like a tense, globe-spanning political thriller.

In the novel there’s a subplot about the desperate measures humanity takes to buy time, including a plan to detonate a nuclear explosion in Antarctica. It’s the kind of extreme decision that shows just how messed up things get, but we don’t know any of this happened in the movie, and Eva Stratt is at the center of it all.

In the movie, Stratt, played by Sandra Hüller, is the one who’s leading the charge on Project Hail Mary. She pulls together the world’s best minds, makes impossible calls, and pushes forward no matter who she has to step over to get results. She’s not written as a traditional hero, and that’s what makes her so compelling.

But after Grace launches into space, things on Earth don’t exactly hold together.

As directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller revealed, governments eventually turn on Stratt. The same people who backed her when the mission was humanity’s best hope end up dragging her into court and sentencing her to life in prison.

Because in the version of the story that exists just under the surface, Stratt doesn’t stay locked up. She manages to escape, and I just think this whole subplot would make for a great film!

You’ve got a world slowly falling apart as the sun continues to dim. Nations that once cooperated are now scrambling to survive.

Political alliances fracture, resources run thin, and fear starts driving drastic decisions. In the middle of all that, the architect of humanity’s last hope is branded a criminal and thrown behind bars, and then she breaks out.

That setup has everything you want in a high-stakes thriller. You could follow Stratt as she navigates a collapsing global order, dodging authorities, leveraging old connections, and trying to keep what’s left of the mission alive. She’s not just running from the law, she’s racing against extinction.

It flips the tone of Project Hail Mary in a really cool way.

Out in space, Grace’s story is about discovery, cooperation, and hope. Back on Earth, Stratt’s story would be about survival, sacrifice, and the cost of doing what needs to be done when the world turns against you. Two sides of the same coin, happening at the same time.

The tension of the story would come from political maneuvering, backroom deals, prison breaks, and the constant pressure of a ticking clock as Earth edges closer to disaster. Think something in the vein of a smart, character-driven thriller, but with the added weight that failure means the end of everything.

She’s decisive, morally complex, and willing to cross lines that most people wouldn’t. A companion film could really dig into the consequences of Stratt’s choices. Did she go too far? Did she save humanity at the cost of her own humanity? And when the world turns on her, does she regret any of it? Or does she double down?

There’s also a fascinating contrast to explore between how history would view her versus what she’s actually doing in the moment. Public enemy. War criminal. Savior. All of those labels could be thrown at her depending on who’s telling the story.

Meanwhile, somewhere out there, Grace is still fighting to bring back a solution.

That parallel storytelling could make for something really special. You’d have audiences watching two completely different battles unfold, one in the silence of space and one in the chaos of Earth, both tied together by the same mission.

It’s the kind of idea that feels too good to leave as a hidden detail.

If Project Hail Mary has proven anything, it’s that audiences are all in on this world. Expanding it with a grounded, intense companion film centered on Stratt wouldn’t just make sense, it could elevate the entire story even more.

The Horrified board game series is diving back into the world of Dungeons & Dragons, and this time it’s heading straight into one of the franchise’s most chilling settings.

GamesRadar+ has revealed Horrified: Dungeons & Dragons – Ravenloft, a new entry that blends the cooperative monster-hunting gameplay fans already love with the gothic horror of Ravenloft.

If you’ve played Horrified before, you know the deal. Players work together, moving across the board, collecting items, and figuring out how to take down unique monsters. T

his version leans hard into Ravenloft’s creepy lore, throwing players up against four dangerous threats. That includes the legendary vampire Count Strahd von Zarovich, along with the eerie Carrionette, the witch Baba Lysaga and her walking hut, and the sinister Gulthias Tree.

Each enemy comes with its own win conditions, and they aren’t messing around. One wrong move can take out innocent bystanders, who you’ll also need to protect and escort to safety while juggling everything else.

The D&D flavor goes deeper with character classes. Building on the previous Horrified: Dungeons & Dragons release, this version introduces five new options including Ranger, Druid, Sorcerer, Paladin, and Warlock. Each class uses a d20 roll to trigger abilities, adding a layer of unpredictability that keeps every turn interesting.

One of the more interesting aspects is how flexible the system is. You can mix these monsters with those from earlier Horrified games, including the previous D&D crossover, which opens the door for some wild combinations if you’re looking to crank up the challenge.

The game comes from designer Peter Lee, who has built a solid reputation with D&D-themed board games like Lords of Waterdeep and Castle Ravenloft. So yeah, he knows his way around this world.

The timing also lines up with a bigger push from Wizards of the Coast, which is currently leaning into what it’s calling a “Season of Horror.” That includes the upcoming Ravenloft sourcebook, adding even more lore, subclasses, and nightmare fuel to the setting.

Kara Kenna, Franchise Creative Director at Wizards of the Coast, explained the thinking behind this return:

"We’re always looking for new ways for players to immerse themselves in the worlds of D&D. Since its introduction in 1983, Ravenloft has been a beloved campaign setting.”

Being able to continue our collaboration with Ravensburger by bringing the rich characters and lore from the Domains of Dread through the mists and into Horrified’s narrative-driven adventure and cooperative gameplay felt natural.

Last year’s Horrified: Dungeons & Dragons was already a hit thanks to how it used the d20 mechanic to keep gameplay dynamic. This new Ravenloft version looks like it’s doubling down on that idea with more classes, more monsters, and a setting that’s perfect for tense, cooperative play.

Whether you’re a longtime fan of Dungeons & Dragons or just someone who enjoys a good monster-filled board game night, this one looks like it’ll be a blast. And at $34.99 through Target, it’s a pretty easy addition to your shelf if gothic horror and dice rolls are your thing.

If you’re into animated fantasy adventures with humor, charm, and just a bit of heart, Love & Gold is absolutely worth putting on your radar. This award-winning short takes a simple setup and spins it into something surprisingly engaging, blending dungeon-crawling chaos with character-driven storytelling that sticks the landing.

The story drops us right at the tail end of two separate treasure hunts. Two rival thieves, Rayden and Robin, have been chasing the same legendary prize, a massive gem left behind by a long-dead king and queen.

Neither of them shows up with any intention of sharing. That tension is baked in from the start, and it makes every interaction between them feel like it could snap at any second.

Of course, this isn’t just a race to grab loot and run. The dungeon has other plans. The ancient rulers who hid the treasure clearly weren’t interested in rewarding greed, and it quickly becomes obvious that brute force or selfish thinking won’t get either thief very far. If they want to make it out alive, they’re going to have to work together… whether they like it or not.

The plot itself is clean and easy to follow, but that’s part of what makes it work so well. There’s no wasted space. It’s all about watching these two characters clash, adapt, and slowly shift their priorities as the traps close in around them. Sure, you can probably guess where things are heading, but the film still manages to make the journey feel earned.

Rayden comes across as someone who’s had things go his way more often than not. He’s confident, capable, and maybe a little too comfortable taking the easy path.

Robin, on the other hand, is harder to read. She’s sharper, more guarded, and far less willing to trust anyone. At the same time, she isn’t exactly trustworthy herself, and her choices end up putting both of them in danger more than once. That push and pull between them gives the short its edge.

What really sells it, though, is how well everything is executed. The animation looks fantastic, with expressive characters and a lively fantasy setting that feels full of energy.

The comedic timing hits consistently, keeping things light even when the stakes ramp up. And somehow, in the middle of all the traps and double-crosses, the film finds just enough emotional grounding to make you care about what happens next.

By the time it wraps up, Love & Gold leans into its theme without feeling heavy-handed. It knows exactly what kind of story it is and doesn’t try to overcomplicate things.

The short was created by Connor Van Dyke and produced by Jaysen Duckworth at the BYU Center for Animation, and it went on to win Best Animation at the 2026 National Student Emmys. I initially saw it at the FilmQuest Film Festival.

At the end of the day, it’s a quick, entertaining watch with strong characters, great visuals, and a story that lands with just the right amount of heart. Honestly, it might even outshine a good chunk of what’s sitting in your streaming queue.

Going into By His Hand, I was expecting a dark indie thriller, and it delivered an intense and unsettling story. This is the kind of film that creeps into your head and drags you into a warped emotional space. If you’re into psychological thrillers that lean heavy on mood, dread, and character trauma, this one delivers.

Right from the opening, the film throws you into a disturbing cult scenario that feels completely off-kilter. There’s no easing into it. You’re just there, witnessing something uncomfortable and intense as a manipulative cult leader exerts control over his followers through a twisted test of strength.

That sequence sets the tone for the rest of the film. I felt uneasy almost immediately, like something was wrong and only getting worse, and it does get worse, just in a slow, creeping way that builds tension instead of exploding all at once.

From there, the story shifts into what feels like a desperate escape mission wrapped in a road trip from hell. Emma and Sam’s journey out of that world becomes the emotional core, but it’s never simple or clean.

Every stop along the way introduces strange, unpredictable characters who add to the tension rather than relieve it. There’s this constant feeling that nowhere is safe, and that sense of dread never really lets up. Even in quieter moments, I felt like something bad was right around the corner.

What really pulled me in is how personal the film feels. It doesn’t try to preach or hand you easy answers about religion or control. Instead, it focuses on how people are shaped by those environments and how hard it is to break free from them.

Emma’s struggle isn’t just about escaping a physical place, it’s about untangling who she is after a lifetime of manipulation. That internal battle hits just as hard as the external danger chasing her down.

Speaking of danger, Fowler is a seriously unhinged antagonist. The guy isn’t just chasing Emma and Sam, he’s unraveling as he does it. Every time he’s on screen, there’s this chaotic energy that makes you uneasy because you don’t know what he’s going to do next. It adds a layer of unpredictability that keeps the tension high throughout the film.

I also have to give credit to how well this was put together as a low-budget indie project. The Utah setting adds a raw, isolated vibe that works perfectly for the story. It feels real, almost too real at times, like you’re watching something you shouldn’t be seeing.

Honestly, this is the kind of story I’m glad I experienced on screen because living anything close to this would in real life would be a complete nightmare.

As for how the film closed out, I was bracing myself for something even darker, but the film surprised me. It still fits the tone, but there’s a sense of release that I didn’t expect.

After everything the characters go through, that shift actually felt earned. It gave me a moment to breathe after being dragged through such a heavy experience.

The film also marks the feature debut for Taylor Paur, who directs and co-writes alongside Ethan Paur, with Conor Paur producing. You can feel a clear sense of vision driving the entire project.

Even with its indie scale, the direction feels confident and focused, especially in how it builds tension and leans into discomfort. The Paurs don’t try to overcomplicate things, they let the story and characters breathe while keeping that constant sense of unease alive.

There’s a rawness to their storytelling that works in the film’s favor, making everything feel more personal and grounded.

On the performance side, the cast really locks in and sells the emotional weight of the story. Ryann Bailey carries a lot of the film as Emma, and she brings a vulnerability that makes her journey. You feel every ounce of fear, confusion, and determination.

Chase Ramsey plays off that energy well as Sam, giving the character a quiet tension that fits perfectly. Then you’ve got Steve Luna and Forrie J. Smith, who help round out the world with performances that feel authentic and lived-in.

By His Hand isn’t an easy watch due to the subject matter, but if you’re looking for something intense, thought-provoking, and a little twisted, it’s definitely worth checking out.

In The Mandalorian and Grogu, the story picks up after the fall of the Galactic Empire, during a time when Imperial warlords remain scattered across the galaxy.

The New Republic, striving to protect the achievements of the Rebellion, enlists the help of Din Djarin, a legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter, and his young apprentice Grogu, an infant of Yoda’s species, to tackle these lingering threats and restore order.

The film explores Djarin’s evolution from a lone bounty hunter to a hero working for the greater good. Following the events of the third season of The Mandalorian, Djarin has agreed to work with the New Republic, combining his bounty hunter skills with a moral mission to do what is right.

The movie also features Djarin unmasked, allowing audiences to see Pedro Pascal’s full portrayal of the character, a decision made to balance story continuity with character development.

Grogu continues to play a central role, with his emotive presence brought to life through animatronics, puppetry, and visual effects. The film emphasizes the bond between mentor and apprentice as they navigate dangerous missions and confront remnants of the Empire.

Additional characters include Colonel Ward, played by Sigourney Weaver, who fought in the Rebellion, and other returning figures from the Mandalorian series and broader Star Wars universe.

The next chapter of the Turtles’ animated comeback is gearing up to raise the stakes in a fun way. Fans already knew Shredder was coming into play after the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem post-credits tease, but now there’s another major threat entering the mix. And if you know your a fan of the franchise, you’re gonna love this.

When Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem hit theaters in 2023, it brought a fresh, energetic take on the heroes in a half shell and ended up being both a critical hit and a box office win.

The story followed the brothers as they took down Superfly and his crew, setting up a bigger world and more dangerous enemies lurking around the corner.

At CinemaCon 2026, Paramount Pictures shared a bit more on what’s next. Producers Seth Rogen, James Weaver, and Evan Goldberg shared a video message confirming that Krang will be joining Shredder in the sequel. That means the Turtles aren’t just dealing with one legendary villain, they’re facing a full-on alliance.

Krang has always been one of the strangest and most memorable villains in TMNT lore. The brain-like alien from Dimension X, part of the Utrom species, has popped up across multiple versions of the franchise.

He made his mark in the 1987 animated series, returned in the 2012 reboot, showed up in live-action form in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, and most recently appeared in Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie.

There’s also an interesting thread connecting him to the first film. In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, Maya Rudolph voiced Cynthia Utrom, a figure tied to the Techno Cosmic Research Institute who ends up bringing Shredder into the picture.

Whether she’s secretly Krang in disguise or just another Utrom is still a mystery, but it definitely feels like something the sequel could explore.

Then there’s Shredder, also known as Oroku Saki, the armored warrior who leads the Foot Clan. He’s been a constant presence across nearly every TMNT adaptation, and for good reason.

He’s the Turtles’ most personal and dangerous enemy. When paired with Krang, the threat level jumps considerably. These two have a long history of teaming up, usually with one goal in mind: wipe out the Turtles.

The sequel will once again be directed by Jeff Rowe and brings back the core voice cast, including Micah Abbey as Donatello, Shamon Brown Jr. as Michelangelo, Nicolas Cantu as Leonardo, and Brady Noon as Raphael.

With Krang entering the picture and Shredder already on the board, this sequel is shaping up to be a much bigger, more chaotic showdown for the turtles.

The next chapter in the Star Wars galaxy is officially kicking into gear. Tickets for The Mandalorian and Grogu are now on sale, and Lucasfilm is clearly in full hype mode with a fresh TV spot, a wave of slick new posters, and some cool insight into just how big this movie is going to feel on the big screen.

This marks the first Star Wars theatrical release since The Rise of Skywalker, and the studio ramping things up in a big way. The latest footage debuted during Disney’s CinemaCon presentation, giving fans in attendance a taste of what’s coming. Beyond the visuals, Jon Favreau dropped some interesting details while speaking in Las Vegas, including confirmation that more than 40 minutes of the film was shot in an expanded IMAX ratio.

Speaking to MovieWeb, Favreau explained: "A lot of what Star Wars was about, too, is about family and about growth. But you need the fun, exciting backdrop. And that backdrop was inspired by the 'Flash Gordon' space opera, pulp storytelling.

“And also, we had this scale to do it. Now, we can do that kind of stuff. There's the head of the creature that we use for example in the movie, but we needed interactivity."

"So to have that, and to have to build on a stage that was tall enough for IMAX, big enough to fill with so that we could go underwater, it's those moments that inspire you.

“You saw things. If you watch the animated shows, you kind of see what it is. But can we do something that hasn't been done before in Star Wars while still making it feel like Star Wars? It's harder than you think."

That ambition really comes through in everything we’ve seen so far. There’s a clear push to blend the grounded, character-driven storytelling of The Mandalorian series with a larger, more cinematic scope.

It’s not just about bringing these characters to theaters, it’s about making the experience feel worthy of the big screen.

After a few years away from theaters, Star Wars feels like it’s finding its rhythm again. Between the ticket sales launch, new footage, and eye-catching marketing rollout, excitement is definitely building. If Lucasfilm keeps this energy going, fans are going to be all in by the time opening night hits.

It’s about protecting everything the Rebellion fought for.

The long-awaited Call of Duty movie just took a big step forward, and it made its presence known in a big way at CinemaCon. Paramount rolled out a sizzle reel of game footage to hype live-action adaptation of the massively popular video game franchise, giving us a first taste of what’s in the works.

Peter Berg and producer Rob Kostich introduced the footage through a pre-taped segment, offering a glimpse into their vision for bringing Call of Duty to the big screen. While the reel leaned heavily on footage pulled from the games themselves, it still managed to generate excitement, especially with The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army” blasting through the presentation of action packed footage.

Kostich said that this project wasn’t something they rushed into. He said they only moved forward “with “the right leadership, someone who cares about the IP as much as we do, and in David Ellison we found that partnership.”

Berg, who co-wrote the script with Taylor Sheridan, spoke about his personal connection to the material. He explained that he feels “deeply connected to the special operations community” and wants to bring that world to life with full “authenticity,” while also delivering a film that has “really big scope.”

Details on the story are still being kept under wraps, so for now, fans are left speculating about which elements from the franchise might make their way into the film. Considering the series has spanned modern warfare, historical conflicts, and even futuristic combat, there’s no shortage of directions they could take.

Paramount is teaming up with Activision to develop and produce the film, with a theatrical release date locked in for June 30, 2028. Sheridan and David Glasser are also on board as producers.

For a franchise that’s dominated the gaming world since its launch in 2003, the numbers speak for themselves. Call of Duty has held the title of the best-selling video game series in the U.S. for 16 straight years, with over 500 million copies sold globally. That’s a massive audience, and now the goal is to translate that success into a cinematic experience that actually delivers.

It’s still early days, but this first tease shows that the people behind the film are taking it seriously. If Berg and his team can balance authenticity with the explosive action fans expect, this could finally be the Call of Duty adaptation that gets it right.

CinemaCon got an unexpected jolt of West Coast energy when Snoop Dogg stepped onstage to celebrate his upcoming biopic, joined by Jonathan Daviss, who’s set to play the hip-hop icon on the big screen.

The untitled film, will be directed by Craig Brewer, has been in the works for a while, but now it’s officially gearing up to roll cameras.

Snoop opened Universal Pictures’ presentation with an easygoing vibe, clearly excited about what’s coming. While fans hoping for major reveals might have to wait a bit longer, Snoop kept things real about where the project stands.

“I wish I could give you more details” on the project, Snoop said. But there were not many, yet. It starts filming in LA this summer. “We’ll be back at CinemaCon next year with a trailer,” he promised.

Snoop also treated the crowd to a quick live performance, running through snippets of classics like “Gin and Juice” and “Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang,” backed by DJ Green Lantern. It was part preview, part celebration, and exactly the kind of moment you’d expect from a legend who knows how to work a room.

The film will track the rise of Calvin Broadus Jr., who became Snoop Doggy Dogg before eventually shortening the name to Snoop Dogg.

His debut album Doggystyle, created with Dr. Dre under Death Row Records in 1993, kicked off a career that has stretched across music, film, television, and beyond. From Grammy nominations to mainstream TV appearances on The Voice and even Olympic coverage with NBC, Snoop has built a career that goes way beyond rap.

Donna Langley, chair of NBCUniversal Entertainment, also joined him onstage and gave a hint at the film’s tone, describing it as “the spiritual cousin of Straight Outta Compton,” referencing the acclaimed 2015 biopic directed by F. Gary Gray.

Daviss, best known for playing Pope Heyward in Outer Banks, is stepping into a major spotlight with this role. He’s also appeared in Netflix’s Do Revenge alongside Sophie Turner, Maya Hawke, and Austin Abrams, as well as projects like Age of Summer and Edge of the World. Taking on a figure as iconic as Snoop is a big swing, but it is sure to be a breakout moment for him.

This biopic has actually been on the radar for a few years now. The project was first announced earlier in development as part of Snoop Dogg’s growing partnership with NBCUniversal, but updates had been pretty quiet until now.

At the time, it was positioned as a major step in bringing Snoop’s life story to the screen, with the intention of exploring his rise through the hip-hop world and his expansion into mainstream entertainment.

While things seemed to move slowly behind the scenes, this latest CinemaCon appearance confirms that the film is finally picking up real momentum and heading into production.

The film is being produced by Snoop Dogg along with Brian Grazer, with Death Row Pictures backing the project as part of its overall deal with NBCUniversal Entertainment & Studios.

A great trailer has been released for the upcoming post-apocalyptic thriller, The Dog Stars. The film features a fantastic cast that includes Jacob Elordi, Josh Brolin, and Margaret Qualley, with Guy Pearce, Benedict Wong, and Allison Janney.

This is the latest film from director Ridley Scott, who has made so many classics in his career, including, but not limited to, Alien, The Martian, Gladiator, Matchstick Men, Blade Runner, and The Last Duel.

The screenplay is written by Mark L. Smith (Vacancy, The Revenant, Twisters), adapted from the novel of the same name written by Peter Heller.

The synopsis reads: “Set in Colorado after the world's population has been ravaged by a pandemic, a man lives a lonesome existence in an airplane hangar with his dog and a door gunman he has befriended.

“When a mysterious transmission comes through on the radio while he is flying his old Cessna, it sparks a hunt for the provenance of the sound.”

This looks really interesting, and with Scott’s track record, this will probably end up being a great watch. Check out the trailer below, and watch The Dog Stars in theatres nationwide on August 28th.

Marvel just debuted the first full trailer for Avengers: Doomsday at CinemaCon, and it was awesome! While earlier teases zoomed in on specific characters, this footage opens things up across the board, giving fans a chaotic and thrilling glimpse of what’s coming next in the MCU.

But, the spotlight belongs to Robert Downey Jr. and his chilling transformation into Victor von Doom. From multiversal chaos to brutal power plays, there’s a lot packed into this trailer. Here’s everything Marvel revealed about Doom.

The footage kicks off with narration that comes straight from Doom, setting the tone with a looming threat: “Something is coming. Something we may not be able to deter.”

That line frames Doom in a really interesting way. Instead of a straightforward villain, he feels more like someone trying to stop an inevitable collapse. If the story leans into incursions, those universe-destroying collisions we’ve seen hinted at before, it makes sense that Doom might see himself as the only one capable of fixing things… even if that means reshaping reality to his liking.

That idea lines up with one of the bigger theories and rumors that have been making the rounds. Doom could be a survivor of a destroyed universe, someone who watched everything fall apart and now refuses to let it happen again.

It’s a motivation that echoes Thanos, but with its own twisted logic. He isn’t just out for domination, he might genuinely believe he’s saving existence.

There’s also been a lot of curiosity about how Downey would differentiate Doom from Tony Stark, and it sounds like he’s going all in.

He’s using an accent, though descriptions vary and there’s a shakespearian tone to it with Doom’s Eastern European roots in Latveria. That accent creates distance between the two characters, and makes it clear that this isn’t just a Stark variant wearing a different suit.

The footage I saw also offers a quick look at Doom’s face, and it isn’t pretty. He’s described as being visibly scarred, suggesting Marvel is leaning into a more severe interpretation of the character’s disfigurement.

That adds another layer to his persona, especially when paired with his iconic mask, which is a heavy, angular design that sticks close to the classic comic look.

Then there’s the big epic moment that made everyone’s jaw drop. Doom goes head-to-head with Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth, who seems to be stepping into a leadership role among the heroes. The God of Thunder goes full on attack mode with Stormbreaker in hand as he jumps in the air looking to bring his weapon down on Doom’s head using his full strength, and when it lands, Doom just catches it… with two fingers. No strain. No effort. Just stops it cold.

That’s a wild statement about his power. Thor has taken down cosmic-level threats before, and Stormbreaker is the same weapon that nearly killed Thanos. For Doom to brush that off like it’s nothing makes it clear we’re dealing with something else entirely.

Between his intellect, advanced tech, and likely magical abilities, he’s shaping up to be one of the most dangerous villains the MCU has ever introduced, and Thor knows it.

He delivers what’s described as the emotional core of the trailer with this monologue: “I have fought with many warriors in my time. They were far stronger than any of us combined and they died.

“They died facing enemies and threats that scared me far less than this one. Everything that we sacrificed will be for nothing if we do not stand together. If you return, you will return as brothers and sisters, but mark my words, we’re going to need a miracle.”

That’s a heavy statement, especially coming from someone who’s gone toe-to-toe with Thanos. If Doom rattles Thor this much, things are about to get very real.

The trailer also teases some wild matchups and returns, including hints of Avengers clashing with X-Men, Gambit fighting Shang-Chi, and Yelena Belova facing off against Mystique disguised as herself. There’s even a glimpse of Steve Rogers hold Mjolnir again, which was so awesome to see!

All signs point to Avengers: Doomsday setting the stage for something huge, especially with Avengers: Secret Wars on the horizon. Doom is centerpiece of the MCU’s next saga, and if this footage is anything to go by, he’s going to win… at least for now.

Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026. Buckle up.

Avengers: Doomsday has officially locked in the return of Kathryn Newton, who has confirmed she’s stepping back into the role of Cassie Lang, following her debut in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

She made the announcement in a pretty fun, very Marvel way. Newton, who recently appeared in Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, took to Instagram to reveal her return.

Instead of a simple post, she showed off a miniature director’s chair with her name on it, playing into Marvel’s ongoing cast reveal theme. It was a clever little tease that instantly got fans talking.

“And it’s tiny because Cassie Lang gets tiny,” Newton said in the video. “She’s small, but sometimes she’s big. It depends what’s happening.”

Newton also casually placed her Avengers cap on the chair before stepping out of her trailer, where a full hair and makeup crew was ready to get her camera-ready. It’s a quick glimpse, but it makes it clear she’s already in the thick of production.

Cassie won’t be going into this chaos alone. Her on-screen dad Scott Lang is also back, with Paul Rudd returning to the role. The film itself is shaping up to be one of Marvel’s biggest Marvel movie events yet, pulling together characters from across multiple corners of the MCU and beyond.

We’re talking about a lineup that includes Robert Downey Jr., Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Vanessa Kirby as Susan Storm, Florence Pugh as Yelena, Tenoch Huerta as Namor, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Letitia Wright as Black Panther, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Thing, and Kelsey Grammer as Beast.

For Cassie Lang, this could be a major step forward. Quantumania set her up as a next-gen hero, and Avengers: Doomsday might be where she really proves herself alongside Marvel’s biggest names.

The film is currently set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026.
