Future. We write the year 3300. Our galaxy is invaded by dominators, the combat robots that lost control under influence of Klissan technologies. The player becomes a ranger, selects a race, and gets a space ship and necessary equipment. Since that moment he finds himself in a

real world of rangers which does not exist in any other computer game where he can engage in all possible types of activities: fight in the space or the hyperspace, buy and sell goods, accomplish government tasks, liberate planets from dominators in 3D battles and, of course, play text quests each

of them being a separate game. It is impossible to foresee the development of events. The game may finish with a victory of either side or last endlessly. Everything depends on actions of the player and dwellers of this live and developing world where you can live a life of a wicked pirate as well as that

of a glorious hero able to make out the origins of dominators onset and put an end to this bloody war.

Setting:

Space Rangers 2 is set in the year 3300. Sentient combat robots known as Dominators are attacking the five civilizations of the Coalition: the humans, the Maloqs, the Pelengs, the Faeyans, and the Gaalians. There are three Dominator types, each at war with each other: the Blazeroids, the Kelleroids, and the Terranoids. The player begins the game as a trainee member of the Space Rangers – a corps of pilots charged with defending the galaxy from the Dominators.

Gameplay:

Space Rangers 2 combines multiple gameplay modes. Space travel takes place in a third-person perspective turn-based 2D engine. The game also includes a 3D real-time strategy engine for planetary battles, with the option to control units within the RTS engine to play the battles as third-person shooters. The game also features an arcade shoot 'em up mode, and text-based missions that include interactive fiction and logic puzzle elements. The player character can gain experience points and improve skills, and the player character's ship can be upgraded as the player earns more cash. Sources of income for the player character include trading, piracy, completing missions for various factions, mining, and deploying research probes.

2. Mount image "crimson skies.nrg" in DeamonTools or favorite alternative
3. Run the patch "CrmSk102.exe"
4. From the crack archive, copy "Crimson.exe" to your install directory, renaming or replacing the original exe of that same name.

PLEASE NOTE this game is old by some standards. It runs beautifully on my own machine (Windows XP, AMD single core processor, ATI graphics card) but attempting to run it with hardware acceleration on certain of my friends' machines who use Vista, multi-core CPU's, or Nvidia cards has often resulted in crashing at startup. I have no idea which of these elements may be causing the problem, as they all use a similar setup.
Thankfully the game includes a software renderer so that it may be run regardless of graphics acceleration hardware, and when using this my friends have had more success. However, it is limited to 640x480 resolution and is just generally ugly.
Don't let the risk of compatibility issues dissuade you though - this is quite possibly the greatest arcade-style flight action game of all time, both multiplayer and in story mode, though its mouse support is lacking when compared to more recent titles. Enjoy!

How to change your name:
Double click on file stryder.ini, you will see Name=Fakoykas just replace Fakoykas with your name.

When you close the game an error message appears, just ignore it, it doesn't affect your game.
