Comparing Education

I missed most of the Iowa Republican debate today. I got home in time to see a really crabby moderator and Fred Thompson snub one another.

When the topic of education came up, I was disappointed by the reactions of every candidate and I found the solutions to be both vague and lame.

CNN followed up the debate with statistics of international education, specifically Sweden and Canada. Can a United States education be comprable to the education of another country? For instance, in New York City, a passing grade is 65. In Saskatchewan, Canada, a passing grade is 50. That's a huge difference. How is educational success measured? Do they take population into account?

The United States has a population of 301,139,947 people. Canada's population is
33,390,141. Sweden only has 9,031,088 people.

I think our educational system is flawed. I think a lot of it comes down to underpaid faculty, but I don't really see how Canada and Sweden serve as models of success in terms of education. You can fit Canada and Sweden's population into the United States seven times.

Current TV Currently Sucks

I'm hanging an ornament on my Christmas tree tonight with the TV blaring in the background and I hear someone choking. I peek my head around the tree to witness some moron on TV demonstrating waterboarding techniques. Why? Why would anyone do this? Because it's "educational." I don't find it educational, but I'm sure all the aspiring terrorists around the world do. Good job Current TV! Idiots...

It's not something I had to go looking for, but it was something inescapable. MSNBC played it, CNN played it, I don't know whether Fox News showed it or not. Regardless, the media pimped it out every American who has mixed-feelings on waterboarding. The media, once again, has hit an all-time low.

So I started thinking, well Current TV, who are these people? I mean, look at this guy choking on water. He looks like he's a few french fries short of a Happy Meal. Nobody will take Current TV seriously. They're not even a blip on the radar, right? Ahem...Current TV is an Emmy award winning independent media company led by former U.S. Vice President Al Gore..." Shock, shock, horror.

Apparently, Gore and his buddy were "disenchanted" with networks like CNN and they
decided to create a "viewer-generated channel aimed at young people."

Well isn't that special? You'll get to watch Britney Spears have a meltdown, read letters from stalkers, watch people fall (because it's funny!) and check out waterboarding demonstrations.You can do all of this on Current TV! Americans wonder why kids are so impressionable, screwed up, and doing poorly in school? Add this to the growing list of reasons...

Now, what amazes me is that "family values" Tipper Gore hasn't shot her husband for this project. Remember how Tipper Gore freaked out when she heard her 11 year old daughter playing a Prince song? Tipper was so horrified that she helped form the Parents Music Resource Center (they're responsible for those cute little parental advisory stickers on CD's and silly edited versions of songs).

Well since Current TV is led by Al Gore, the content should be relatively safe for younger viewers, right?

Hmm...maybe not. What, no parental advisory sticker?

When you provide aid and comfort to the enemy, it's called treason. Michael Ratner of all people should know this.

See Article III. Section 3, Mr. Ratner!

Section 3. Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.

The Congress shall have power to declare the punishment of treason, but no attainder of treason shall work corruption of blood, or forfeiture except during the life of the person attainted.

There's a number of things that bother me about Michael Ratner and the Center for Constitutional Rights. First, I won't refer to the Center for Constitutional Rights as "CCR." Whenever I hear "CCR" I think of Creedence Clearwater Revival. Whether this acronym was a catchy way for Ratner and his aging commie buddies to get other bald weirdos to remember his organization's name, who knows! But I'm not taking the bait.

Secondly, Danny Glover. Doesn't Danny Glover know how to use Google? I sympathize with Danny Glover's frustration, but I really think he flipped out after September 11th. Mr. Glover should acknowledge that the members of the Center for Constitutional Rights have just as much of a shady past as the politicians he bashes. Instead of appearing in one of their commercials, I think he should have done his homework first.

After all, the Ratner family really isn't any better than the Bush family. As a matter of fact, they're worse. If Danny Glover wasn't successful and he was just a random guy living in Brooklyn, he might feel differently about the Ratner family. Especially if he was a member of one of the families who were thrown out on their asses after Bruce Ratner, brother of attorney Michael Ratner, forced them into selling their home. How could Michael Ratner, the attorney who stands for human rights and civil liberties, stand by and watch his brother do this to AMERICANS?

It's not rocket science. The Center for Constitutional Rights doesn't give a damn about Americans. On the other hand, they really don't care about the treatment of detainees at Guantanamo either. The Center for Constitutional Rights doesn't want to uphold the Constitution. They're out to destroy this country. They are the folks who are pushing the Constitution through the paper shredder. They hate America and everything it stands for. If they didn't, they wouldn't give aid and comfort to our enemies. Yes, enemies. The people who pose a threat to my life, your life, and the lives of every American = enemies. These radical attorneys want to watch the United States crumble and they want to make sure that the name of their organization is attached to whatever lawsuit, Islamic terror suspect, country, etc... that brings America to its knees. It's just another line to add to their radical resumes.

Here are a couple of quotes made by Michael Ratner to support this theory:

In a 1998 article titled Immoral Bounty for Assata, Ratner expresses opposition to cop-killer Assata Shakur's extradition. He's also quoted as saying:

"If there is a place terrorists can call home, it is the United States. Its history is hardly honorable."

Additionally, In a 2002 interview, Michael Ratner was quoted as saying:

"I don't usually take cases where I disagree with the politics of the people involved."

So, Ratner agrees with the politics of people that want to kill Americans?

I'd like to add: I do not think a person or an organization is anti-American for trying to uphold the Constitution. I do, however, find organizations that defend and aid Islamo-facists offensive, disgusting, anti-American, and guilty of treason.

If you don't like the way this country has been run under the Bush administration, you vote power-hungry people like Bush out office. You elect a candidate who will represent "we the people." You don't run into the arms of the enemy.

Michael Ratner and the Center for Consitutional Rights are not heroic. In fact, I'd argue that since their practice started, they've endangered more lives than the War on Terror has thus far. This is an organization that bends the truth and the law so much and so often, that they've lost touch with reality. It appears that they've inadvertently become everything they oppose.

Operative working for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed Claims Torture

This is so predictable. The CIA interrogation tapes, which were destroyed five years ago are coming back to haunt America.

Days after learning about the CIA videotapes, Majid Khan, a Guantanamo detainee who is an alleged terrorist that worked for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, claims he was tortured in 2003. His attorneys are from the Center for Constitutional Rights.

I learned the Constitution was written by and for "we the people," of America not "we the people of a different country that want to kill you." So obviously, I'm quite confused by what Michael Ratner's goal is here. But I'm not an attorney, I'm not Majid Khan, and I'm certainly not Danny Glover (who needs to buy a vowel and solve the puzzle). Maybe I'm not supposed to understand what's going on here.

What I do know:

Americans should treat others the way we treat our own. If you come to this country on good terms and you're a good person, you should be treated as such. If you come to this country on a mission to hurt or injure people, you should be be treated as a criminal and/or murderer.

Now that the CIA has admitted to destroying tapes of interrogations which took place in 2002, we have another piece of propaghanda which will further divide America. We have politicians struggling to define the word torture, which almost makes Bill Clinton look sane when he asked for "sex" to be defined.

Everything is upside down.

Thirty four of our fifty states permit capital punishment. So it's safe to say that we have no problems killing our own wackos. But waterboarding foreigners who illegally come here to kill us? That's inhumane! C'mon, give me a break.

CNN Obsessed With Hacker Threat

For two weeks straight CNN seemed hell-bent on showing the world how to knock out 1/3 of America's power. Thanks CNN, I'm glad you brought this to our attention 5 years after Al Queda attempted to conduct such attacks on utilities.

Now, according to CNN, "About 140 foreign intelligence organizations are trying to hack into the computer networks of the U.S. government and U.S. companies." Like Americans don't have enough stuff to worry about.

CNN's reporting has become a crapademic. Larry King figured out how to check his e-mail this month, Anderson Cooper begs for V-mail every day, I mean, it's like CNN just figured out that the internet exists. Yeah, it sounds ridiculous, but it only sounds as ridiculous as everything CNN reports.

I think it's safe to say that Americans are quite aware of the dangers imposed by hackers. Why does CNN have to remind their viewers every day? This media fear-fueled fiasco they call a news network is the reason their ratings are so low.

The two false tales of celebrated American heroes reveal a distorted narrative which was deliberately obscured and twisted to rally pro-war support in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Private Jessica Lynch, who was applauded for her bravery and rescued by American soldiers in 2003 revealed that her "story" was an elaborate lie. She did not roll around shooting at the enemy until she ran out of ammunition, as we were lead to believe, and despite the details which were reported by the media - Jessica was not shot and stabbed by attackers.

Truth be told, Jessica Lynch's humvee was struck by a rocket-propelled grenade and she never had a chance to fire at anyone because her weapon jammed.

"I am still confused as to why they chose to lie and tried to make me a legend," Lynch said, "The story of the little girl Rambo from the hills who went down fighting is not true," Lynch said. "The bottom line is, the American people are capable of determining their own ideals for heroes, and they don't need to be told elaborate lies."

A year later, 27 year old Sgt. Pat Tillman was killed in Afghanistan. The original story lead the American public to believe that Tillman was killed engaging in a fight with the enemy.

The soldier was awarded the military's 3rd highest award, the silver star, despite the fact that a few officers came forward to dispute the cause of Tillman's death, which they claimed was caused by friendly fire. These men were silenced by top military officials.

While these stories inspire Americans and glorify patriotism, the truth must be told: every soldier is a hero. Nevertheless, these fictionalized depictions diminish the heroic actions of every soldier fighting this war.

Everyone's a Racist in Gangsterized America

Nobel-winning biologist James D. Watson, who played a vital role in the discovery of the double-helix structure of DNA, told the NY Times he was:

"inherently gloomy about the prospect of Africa because all our social policies are based on the fact that their intelligence is the same as ours, whereas all the testing says not really."

I placed emphasis on the word "ours" in Watson's quote. I did this because "ours" clearly does not imply 'white race'. I'm sorry... but everything in this society does not come down to black and white (although the media would lead us to believe differently).

Watson is a scientist. We're not supposed to understand him or agree with him. His interest is in world-wide IQ estimates and the measure of intelligence between people of different cultural backgrounds, not offending black people. His recent statement is not psycho-babble that can be attributed to his age, nor is it Jerry Lewis syndrome. Here's an excerpt from his book DNA: The Secret of Life:

"Racism is not implicit to eugenics--good genes, the ones eugenics seeks to promote, can in principle belong to people of any race. Starting with Galton, however, whose account of his African expedition had confirmed prejudices about "inferior races," the prominent practitioners of eugenics tended to be racists who used eugenics to provide a "scientific" justification for racist views. Henry Goddard, of Kallikak family fame, conducted IQ tests on immigrants at Ellis Island in 1913 and found as many as 80 percent of potential new Americans to be certifiably feebleminded. The IQ tests he carried out during World War I for thc U.S. Army reached a similar conclusion: 45 percent of foreign-born draftees had a mental age of less than eight (only 1 percent of native-born draftees fell into this category). That the tests were biased--they were, after all, carried out in English--was not taken to be relevant: racists had the ammunition they required, and eugenics would be pressed into the service of the cause."

As he referenced the continent of Africa in his statement to the Times, he also made a reference to Africa in his book. Once again, he was clearly making reference to AFRICA, not Bob the black guy in Texas or Betty the Black Woman in the UK. AFRICA, the continent. The people who live in that continent.

There is no scientific proof that Africans are inferior to anyone, but stastical studies have shown that people who live in AFRICA display poor IQ scores compared with other continents. Bushmen with an average IQ level of 54? You don't say!

Do I think Richard Lynn's research and James Watson's quote lean towards controversial? Absolutely. Do I find their statements newsworthy? Uh, no. Not unless they can support their findings. Until then? Who cares what they say or think? Seriously!

You know, I had to laugh when I read this, it's that absurd. I love how CNN attempts to reinforce the idea that Watson's comment is offensive:

"The British government's skills minister, David Lammy, who is black, called the comments "deeply offensive."

He's black AND he's offended? What if he were white, yellow, pink, brown, or purple & offended? Would CNN care that he was "deeply offended?"
See, this is what kills me -- the media. The way the press spins everything that occurs in our society. If you want to point fingers at things that are offensive, look how the media covered the Jena 6. Yes, the Jena 6 deserved public attention. But when is enough enough?

This isn't a crime the occured over the summer, as Rev. Al Sharpton said:

"These nooses were hung over a year ago sir. So I know that the wheels of justice turn slow, but they seem to be at a standstill," said Sharpton. "That's why we're seeing nooses all over America."

The media chokes us with Jena 6 coverage and the next thing you know, there ARE nooses everywhere. Remember how you first came to learn of the Jena 6? Think about the context of the news coverage: Blackwater, Jena 6, dangerous illegal aliens, Blackwater, Jena 6, Iraq, Jena 6.... Hatred fuels hatred. Hatred fuels ignorance. Hate, fear, hate, fear.

Everytime I read about George Soros funded advocacy groups, I feel violently ill. It's a gamed market and somehow Soros is exempt from antitrust laws, campaign finances laws, and reality.

A Message to Parents

I am so sick of hearing that music, television, and shoot 'em up games are to blame for today's messed up youth. It's not the Marilyn Mason song on your kid's iPod that drove him nuts. It's not the principal who gave little Johnny detention. You can't sue the trench coat manufacturers either, okay? It's you! As a parent, you suck. You failed your kid and now they're studying Columbine footage on YouTube while you're zoned into "America's Got Talent."

Parents forget that their kids are still kids: teens and pre-teens are left alone on their computers (the technological babysitter) for hours while mom and/or dad are oblivious to their internet hobbies.

FYI - You're always going to find something that you don't like on your kid's social networking "pages" but if you see something disturbing, do something about it!

I remember reading about this kid last year, a fourteen year old who attracted the attention of the secret service because her Myspace page read "kill Bush." The page depicted the president with daggers through his hand.

Understandably, the parents were outraged but their rage was somehow misdirected. Instead of expressing anger and concern over their child's moronic behavior, they lashed out at the Secret Service for questioning their kid at school. Uhh, hello!

The teen deleted her psychotic Bush threats, quickly replacing them with anti-war quotes and pictures. Maybe it's just me, but I think I'd pull the plug for a while if the secret service showed up on my doorstep for my 8th grader. Ya' think?

Today I hear, about Asa Coon, the fourteen year old who shot up his Cleveland high school and I can't say I'm surprised! The kid appeared to have mental health issues (past suicide attempts, violent behavior, juvenille detention centers) and he slipped through the cracks.

In days leading up to the shooting, Asa made several threats to fellow students (who didn't take him seriously). It makes you wonder, are threats like this so common that teenagers tend to ignore them? If so, why?

Paulites Want to Tie Me to a Burning Cross

Alright, maybe the blog title was a little extreme, but it got your attention. Didn't it?

I received an email today from a Paulite. I've been accused of smearing Ron Paul's name with 'obvious lies.' Of course I found the comment laughable - everything I've said about Ron Paul in previous posts is true. When I link back to an article, I usually weigh the credibility of that article before linking. In other words, I don't post random crap.

It is a fact that Ron Paul is supported by white supremacists. I'm sick of hearing that he doesn't cater to special interest groups. If you truly feel that Ron Paul isn't bought by any special interest group or corporation - look again.

Why am I pointing out the obvious? Because it's not obvious to a lot of people who support Ron Paul! I find it amusing that some of the the people who have commented with indifference to white supremacists supporting Paul classify themselves as "Rednecks."

The Media Doesn't Matter to Media Matters

On Sept. 7, 2006 a Newsday article written by Glenn Thrush described a curious relationship between Hillary Rodham Clinton and David Brock of MediaMatters.org

Sure the Don Imus/Media Matters thing is old news, but doesn't anyone see a recurring pattern? Any radio or TV personality that bashes Hillary is suddenly exposed on MediaMatters as a racist. What's that about? Yes, every person that Media Matters has 'exposed' has said something negative about Hillary. Coincidence? Pfft.

I actually wrote MediaMatters.org about a week ago. I wanted to see if I could somewhow disturb their Bill O'Reilly circle-jerk to bring attention to a media comment that I found VERY offensive. The comment was made by Glenn Beck a little over a month ago.

Before I go any further, I should say that I like Beck. I don't agree with everything the guy says, but I find him entertaining and he has some interesting segments. But like all of these media darlings, he appears to have an over-inflated ego. For some reason I think that adds to the the entertainment value. That's my opinion, of course.

Now, I know that Media Matters has had it out for Beck in the past. But Beck's segment "The New Rosa Parks?," which aired on Aug. 30, 2007, pissed me off. I mean, really pissed me off. This was something for people to REALLY complain about. Nothing, not a peep.

So, I'm not going to take Beck's words out of context, which MediaMatters seems to be good at. No, I'll leave that to them.

Okay, on this show:

Beck compares illegal alien Elvira Arellano to the Civil Rights hero Rosa Parks. Are you shaking your head in confusion and disgust? Let me recap: Illegal alien criminal with three felony charges = Civil Rights hero? WOW!

If you clicked on the transcript, you've only seen a partial transcription of the segment. Over the past week, I don't know why, the transcript has been edited. For instance, after Beck says:

"Unfortunately, I believe it actually has a chance to work and Elvira may just end up being the Rosa Parks of illegal immigration," he originally said (and it was sarcastic): "Sorry Mrs. Parks." Nice way to mock a dead civil rights hero, huh? At present, that little quip has been removed from the transcription. The video clip on Youtube has magically disappeared too.

Now this was Media Matters' moment to really capture something offensive, unpatriotic, and uhh...well, you be the judge. No...they weren't interested. That was fine with me - but it showed me something: The Media doesn't matter to MediaMatters. They're not a watchdog group. They do a lot of barking, indeed, but it's always at Hillary's command.

I'll continue to question the Clinton-Brock Alliance. I'll continue to keep my eye on MediaMatters. They're so predictable, really. Anyone that utters a bad word about Hillary today - will be smeared tomorrow.

In the meantime, I find it ironic that the guy running MediaMatters.org has admitted to telling lies, blackmailing Jane Mayer and Jill Abramson, and confessing that he 'had' "journalistic carelessness, ideological bias, and a misdirected quest for acceptance by a political movement."

The only way a liar can mobilize their career is through lies. David Brock is a "phony soldier" of gangsterized America. He's Hillary Clinton's toy soldier. Yes, she co-founded Media Matters. Let's watch him lie about that too.

Hillary Clinton: I Smell Bullshit

1. Hillary is against the free press....at least it looks that way

2. Did anyone get the $5000 baby bribe? I didn't get it. I mean, she's pro-abortion. Fine. Pro abortion = no babies. No babies = no bonds. Hmm... I smell a joke here! Sorry Hillary, I don't accept cheques that bounce.

3. She flip-flops on Iraq. Uh, she was for the war before she was against it, wasn't she? CNN, 2004: "Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton said she is not sorry she voted for a resolution authorizing President Bush to take military action in Iraq..."

4. Everytime I turn on the TV I see Bill Clinton defending his wife from those bad bad words those men said about her. If anyone's going to ruin her campaign, it'll be Bill. He talks about her stances on important issues more than she does.

5. She loses things more often than a nine year old without pockets. In 1994 she mysteriously lost all billing records (under subpoena) related to McDougal's savings and loans. She amazingly found them two years later in the White House. In January 2006, she failed to report $721,895 in campaign contributions from Peter Franklin Paul. Oops!

Ron Paul: David Koresh exercised his "Constitutional Rights"

I guess this shouldn't surprise most people. Afterall, Ron Paul is the man who gave a passionate defense of David Koresh in 1994.

"The community of faith that once lived at Mount Carmel in Waco, Texas, believed the promise of free society."

A community of faith? Children were molested, weapons were stockpiled, and the brainwashed community were treated like slaves. Koresh took Kiri Jewell as one of his 20 brides when she was only 10 years old. But Ron Paul felt this was Koresh's Constitutional right. In reference to the way the events of Waco went down, Ron Paul said:

"A lot of Americans fear that they too might be attacked by federal swat teams for exercising their constitutional rights, or merely for wanting to be left alone."

Polygamy and pedophilia are Constitutional rights? Of course Koresh wanted to be alone! Uh, what's wrong with Ron Paul?!? I can go on forever...

You can watch their videos on YouTube, you can read their blogs, but it only takes a moment to realize that most "Ron Paulites" aren't the sharpest crayons in the box.

A North Carolina "Ron Paulite" recently posted an ad for a meetup in Charlotte and sought after people to support, I quote, their "Ron Paul Halloween Idear." This "idear" involves defacing public property in an effort to support Ron Paul.

The abundance of Ron Paulites and their ignorant posts on YouTube, political blogs, and message boards, paints these folks as delusional and cult-ish. Ron Paul is a presidential candidate, but his supporters appear to be Branch Davidian-like. It's very frightening!

Our FDA on Vibrio Vulnificus

See, the FDA knows that harvesting seafood (specifically oysters from the Gulf Coast) kills Americans each year. They provide the ammunition to restaurant owners and every time a patron eats contaminated seafood, the FDA pulls the trigger. The doctors are baffled when they see these illnesses because they're uninformed. There's no education campaign. We can point the finger back and forth between the hospital and the restaurant all day - it all comes down to the FDA. They have a job to do and they're not doing it.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, "Between 1988 and 1995, CDC received reports of over 300 V. vulnificus infections from the Gulf Coast states, where the majority of cases occur," and they ADMIT that "there is no national surveillance system for V. vulnificus." The Gulf Coast is a breeding ground for Vibrio Vulnificus and the FDA does nothing to protect Americans from it's dangers.

In 2003, the state of California completely banned raw oysters. In 2006, Washington State banned raw oysters, due to several Vibrio parahaemolyticus illnesses reported in less than a week.

The Center of Science in the Public Interest has written many letters to the FDA concerning Vibrio Vulnificus. In 2000, they wrote the Commissioner Henney of the FDA this letter requesting a "performance standard of nondetectable levels for Vibrio Vulnificus in molluscan shellfish intended for raw consumption." The FDA has done nothing of the kind, nor have they responded to CSPI.

Maybe you don't eat oysters. Maybe you're wondering how any of this effects you. The Center for Disease Control acknowledged that approximately 22 Katrina survivor's contracted Vibrio Vulnificus wading through Vulnificus contaminated water. They didn't eat anything...Get it?

Swimming or placing any part of your body (especially if you have an open wound) in Gulf Coast waters isn't safe anymore. Allow me to remind you, that "More than 21 cents of every dollar spent by consumers goes for products FDA regulates. This amounts to more than $1.4 trillion a year."

So the question is, what do you do when the FDA doesn't spend a dime of that money to educate and protect American people from something so serious? You get angry and you take action! Write to government officials, write to the commissioner of the FDA, write letters to the media! Get your voice and concerns heard.

The Gangster Run FDA

"More than 21 cents of every dollar spent by consumers goes for products FDA regulates. This amounts to more than $1.4 trillion a year." This quote was taken from the Food and Drug Administration's website. It's my opinion that the FDA are nothing more than American Gangsters. They lie, they cheat, and they steal the lives of Americans every day.

The average American knows someone that's experienced negative reactions to medication or food, or they themselves have had a medication-related illness or a foodborne illness. How did you get sick? Who's responsible? There's a good chance the fault lies within the FDA.

Here's My story:

In 2001, I lost one of my parent's to a foodborne illness. The doctor's were boggled. They had no idea what these ailments were. They claimed they'd never seen anything like it. As a result, the infection got worse and I actually ended up burying one of my parent's.

About a week before the death, a team of doctor's finally figured out what the cause of the illness was: contaminated seafood. But by then, it was too late. The infection was too severe and it spread throughout the body.

At the time, I was 21 years old. I was angry at the doctors. I was angry at the restauraunt. I was insanely hostile and defiant when the death certificate read the cause of death was "natural causes." There wasn't a thing natural about this death.

I wanted to know why the seafood was contaminated. I couldn't understand why the medical specialists couldn't match the symptoms to an illness. I didn't grasp how this death was listed as "natural causes."

You're probably wondering what the FDA has to do with any of this. Well, I feel the FDA holds full responsability.

First: The hospital reported the foodborne illness to the Centers for Disease Control, and the NY State Dept. of Health, who filed a report which, we were told, was sent to the FDA because the FDA is responsible for non-meat products. My family was informed that an inspection had taken place, nevertheless, the death was listed as a natural causes death, despite the fact that an Infectious Disease Physician visited the hospital room three times per week. According to all records, nobody in New York State contracted Vibrio Vulnificus in 2001.

Second: The hospital told us that this illness was Vibrio Vulnificus. They took photographs of the infection as it surfaced to the skin, and labeled these photos as V. Vulnificus. They gave us a photocopy of the photographs weeks later, as they appeared in a published medical journal. Once again, I'm reminding you that they listed the death as natural causes.

Third: A few weeks after the funeral, I called the restuaruant that served the seafood. I was told that they obtained their seafood from Texas. All of their seafood was domestic from Gulf Coast waters.

Fourth: I contacted an attorney. He quickly lost interest since we did not have an autopsy performed. I contacted a second attorney. He told us the inspection report came back clean. He also told us that the hospital insisted that they "couldn't be sure it was a Vulnificus related death" and AMAZINGLY all records that indicated it WAS a vulnificus related death disappeared from hospital records our lawyer ordered. Talk about foul play! All we had was a photocopy from an untitled Medical Journal.

Fifth: While we didn't like the lax (and later unethical) treatment provided by the hospital, nor did we understand how the restaurant could serve infectious food, we realized it all came down to the FDA. As far as I'm concerned, the FDA are murderers.

Presidential Pork: Bush Promises to Veto Children's Health Benefit Extension

How does George W. Bush sleep at night? For 5 1/2 years, Bush lead the United States for without a single veto. All of that changed in July, 2006 when Bush issued his first veto.

Now, on Sept. 20, the NY Times reported Bush's promise for his fourth veto: the S-Chip Program Expansion.

After facing public and congressional scrutiny, Bush argued that: "Members of Congress are putting health coverage for poor children at risk so they score political points in Washington" (USA Today, 9/21).

The program closes on Sept. 30, and today the battle begins: Republicans are backing the Democrats on the children's health benefit extension.

For those Americans that stand behind Bush on his decision, consider this for one moment:

On Sept. 26, The Bush Administration just proposed spending $190 billion for the Iraq War in 2008. You can read more about this in the Boston Herald. This breaks down to $36,000 per minute! $36,000 is $16,000 more than a poor American family of four makes in one year.

So while the average American may think "this expansion isn't about poor kids, this is about middle class children from two income families," take a look at the PBS program: Insuring the Children. According to their research, "45 percent of all children in the United States are receiving some form of public medical assistance."

This is about providing basic healthcare to children who need it. Our children. American children. How can our president deny them health coverage?

NY Senator lashes out against Eliot Sptizer's license plan

New York Senator Andrew Lanza has introduced a new bill today which ensures that only legal US citizens and NY state residents can obtain a New York State issued Driver's License.

This proposal follows a "wrongheaded decision" made by Governor Eliot Spitzer, who recently announced that a New York State Driver's Licenses will be granted to any immigrant with a valid passport, regardless of their citizenship status.

"Governor Spitzer’s new, ill-advised policy will open the flood gates and allow increased instances of fraudulent issuances of licenses throughout the State," Lanza said in a press release statement.

Providing illegal aliens state-issued driver's licenses is clearly a recipe for disaster. Kudos to Lanza for trying to preserve a sense of safety--something that's stolen from New Yorkers on a daily basis.
