These are beautiful examples!

I'm fumbling through the new CS6 features and am disheartened by the lack of training materials. How did you add texture, reflections and lighting effects to your text? I've been poking through the Geometry options, etc... and I'm not finding much beyond the options available in previous versions.

Obviously, your texture maps from Photoshop layers/objects are coming from a PS layer, but in your first example (the Adobe logo) are the material options mostly coming from Illustrator?

Yes, the Wall-e was fully created in After Effects, just orienting textures in 3D space and pre-compositing pieces. Ray-tracing means that the everything is rendered with more accuracy compared to the old Classic 3D render engine. So you can have better depth of field, more accurate shadows and reflections....

was the wall-e animation created fully in after effects? I'm a compositor, but a beginner when it comes to working in 3D (modeling and animation) so I was also wondering what raytracing means. thanks, -ryan
