Lowell’s Freedom Festival is the place to be May 30. Plenty of food and activities including amusement ride provided by Miracle Amusements and live music by the Celtic band Ceol Leinn at 6:15 p.m. and Coming Up Brass at 8 p.m.

Maple Springs Farm has something for the whole family. In May people come from all around to pick their own fresh strawberries in May. Then from June to July it’s time for big juicy blackberries. When late summer comes the berry fields close, but the farm’s market sells corn, tomatoes and other vegetables. Come mid-September pumpkins, gourds and muscadines go on sale, plus hayrides and a corn maze through October.

The farm’s hours vary based on season so be sure to call ahead for exact times.

The Gastonia Farmer’s Market is a great place to get fresh locally grown produce. The market is made up of an association of farmer’s from Gaston, Cleveland, Lincoln, and Catawba counties who all grow the majority of their produce. The market is open Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, April through November, 8 AM - 12 PM.

I am personally a big fan of Farmer’s Markets, because they support the local economy and because it makes quality, affordable produce at your finger tips, and everybody enjoys saving some money!

The shrimp was wonderful. When the waiter came by to check if we needed anything, I only wanted more! My husband took me for my birthday and I had a great time. The children’s menu even had something on it for my ultra picky 14 month old. I have never had a bad experience at Red Lobster and i see it being my number one for years to come.

Ruby Tuesday a Restaurant with Great Salad Bar

I usually like eating out as a family but Ruby Tuesday was a real disappointment. We were a group of 5, My husband our 14 month old and I along with my brother-in-law and his fiance. We asked for non-smoking and they sat us in a spot so close to smoking I could taste it. When we asked to move they put us at a round table in the middle of the floor, my daughter’s highchair was very much in the way of other people but I had no where to move her. The food was okay ( nothing to rave about), but my daughter’s food was tough and tasteless, we ended up feeding her at home. I do not think I will eat there again as a family, I may try it as a date night thing, but I doubt it.

Gastonia soon to offer wireless downtown

According the Gaston Gazette, the city of Gastonia plans to spend $40,000.00 over the next 2 to 3 months to offer free Wi-Fi connectivity in the downtown area. The service is to be near 4G cellular quality and is a part of a much larger effort to attract businesses and people back into downtown.

Pops in the Park - Biggerstaff Park, Dallas
