I've had the same old interior pieces for a really long time, but I thought that about 10 years later is about time to actually buy some new pieces. I think that I'm just going to stick to some slipcovers for the couch and sectionals, but also try and come up with all kinds of other decorations. It's quite a huge task because I'm doing this all by myself instead of hiring a decorator or getting anyone else to help me out.

But I am asking some of my friends who have done recent renovations some advice. When I was talking to one of my friends, she told me about how she and her husband had just had some Sears vinyl siding put on their house and loved it. So that's something that I'm thinking about too.

Right now, though, I'm going to focus on the interior of my home, especially the rooms that any visitors to my house see. That's the parts that I'm most concerned about updating first. I just really want to bring my home into this century, even if it has to be a little bit at a time.

I love our new neighborhood. When we were looking for our new house and found it in a neighborhood that was very small and had not been fully built, I was a little worried. I wanted to be in a large neighborhood with a pool and lots of houses so that my kids would make a lot of friends. I also wanted to make friends myself. I have always dreamed of living in a neighborhood where I could walk next door and ask a neighbor for a cup of sugar or ask them to keep my kids in an emergency. So far, I think this will be that type of neighborhood. It has not been fully built, but our neighbors told us that the builder is moving pretty rapidly. I just moved into a new place and have been struggling to keep up with all my bills.

I thought that my new place was a great deal because it was bigger and cheaper than my old place, but I didn’t take some important things into consideration. My old apartment included cable, internet, and phone in my rent and this one does not. I didn’t factor those things into my decision. I also didn’t realize that my utility bill would be a lot higher than it was at my old place. This apartment has really high ceilings so it has been really hard to keep it cool, or get it warm. I didn’t know that I would be able to afford to get cable, and I was really bummed about my bad decision. I've never been to Hawaii but I dream about it often. My wife has lived in Hawaii and also has family there so she vows to take me to Hawaii someday. My children have seen commercials for the new Disney Vacations resort in Hawaii and we all have talked about going to Hawaii next year. Missing Summers in The Pool

As the weather cools down outside I am starting to miss summertime swims in the pool with my wife and kids.

When the weather starts to warm up outside we all start to get ready for swimming by stocking up on pool supplies and accessories like bathing suits, floating rafts and new pool filters. Last year we thought about putting a new diving board in, but we decided to wait a few more years before we invested the money into that.

For now, with winter well on it's way I am thinking about getting the diving board installed in time for next summer because time is precious and we can get started on making family memories with a new diving board as soon as the weather warms up. Why wait? If we can afford it, I am going to make it a priority.

For now, we are simply maintaining the pool through the winter and keeping it stable until summer comes around again.

Bringing Modern Charm to Our Home

I've thought for a while that our home could really use some modern updates.

First off, one of the things that I was worried about was updating our bathrooms and our kitchen. Now that we've handled all of that, we're worrying about other parts. One thing that I knew I could count on was finding some really cute ideas for actually decorating our spaces from some of my favorite interior design blogs. I love looking through them anyway but once we started remodeling our home, I really started following them faithfully.

I thought that one thing I could try out in our living room is color blocking. The trend is really big in fashion right now and of course interior design is following in the footsteps. Plus, while I was online drawing some style inspiration for our living room, I ran across some info on Sears Home PRO and after I showed the info to my wife, I decided to use them to get our siding redone.

I used some brightly colored prints up against a coordinating color for an accent wall as a way of color blocking. I thought that it would be a fun punch of color and it definitely lived up to my hope of that!
