Chitika – Ads for the right user, right time and right place? Really?

I signed up for Chitika a few years ago and to be honest, I just hadn’t done anything with it. I didn’t invest time in learning the setup or even exploring the advantages. I just signed up, set up a few referral buttons and let it go.

It wasn’t until I got a notice that I had received a payment from Chitika that I even thought about looking into it further – but hey, if someone is paying me, I’m thinking if I made money for doing absolutely NOTHING, I wonder what I could make with a little effort.

Chitika is an alternative to Google AdSense Contextual Pay-Per-Click Advertising. I run Chitika on a couple of my blogs. It performs best on product related blogs, but can achieve good results on blogs such as this on also.

Here is a snippet from the Chitika Publishers website that contains two stats that show Chitika is a respected Ads Publisher:

One of the greatest advantages to using Chitika is that you can use them on the same page as Google AdSense. This allows you to maximize the earning potential of your blog. Chitika tends to have a higher CPC than Google AdSense in alot of the areas I have used it in.

Since Chitika is still kinda sorta new to me, it will be a short while before I can give you much detail on profits – but I’d say $50 for absolutely NOTHING is something. What I can tell you however, is it is currently outperforming Google AdSense on two of my blogs and I’m only a few days into actually using it.

U.S. Authorities Shut Down Over 73,000 Blogs on Free Hosting Service

Many online professionals have warned against using free hosting to build your online presence. These warnings come for many reasons including the risk of losing your content.

In a recent sweep, a free WordPress blog hosting website called Blogetery.com that hosted around 73,000 blogs shut down July 9, 2010.

Blogetery was a free blog service hosted by BurstNet, Inc., a company that has been established in the web hosting arena for nearly 14 years.

Explaining the reason why it had to take down Blogetery’s server BurstNet told that it “was a critical matter brought to ~~our~~ [their] attention by law enforcement officials” and in that case they had very little choice but terminate the account. BurstNet further stated that Blogetery was terminated due to “history of abuse and ongoing abuse”.

When you’re looking at making money online, and you are using a free hosting service, in a way you are at the mercy of everyone else using that hosting service too. Don’t run that risk. Put your blog or website on a REAL hosting service that actually manages their business and protects their clients.

Facebook Hacked? Hijacked? Here’s the Fix

Is your Facebook account suddenly sending messages to your friends or posting strange messages on your wall that YOU did NOT post?

Chances are, you have been hacked or hijacked.

Just this morning a friend of mine had this message and response:

This might be a simple fix to that problem…

Strange messages likely appear because of fake apps.

These apps look and act like real ones, but are not. And since you have given them permission to access your Facebook info when you added the app they can do things like change your status, send messages to your friends, etc.

SOLUTION

Step 1: Remove apps you don’t use regularly

Step 2: Change your password

If the problem persists, the app that is causing the problem has not been removed – remove more and change your password again.

I run very few apps these days. Anytime an app requests access to my account, I opt out or cancel. It’s just not worth the hassle anymore to know who might have a crush on me, who is looking at my profile most often or which Disney Princess I might be.

Affiliate Marketing Is Not a Job – It’s a Way of Life

I’m often asked to provide information on working from home as if I could pull out a one page “how to” sheet that would detail everything I do, how I do it, what works and what doesn’t.

I think many people think it’s a matter of sitting down, spitting out a couple’a hundred words and then spending the remainder of my day basking in the sun on the deck with a mommy martini and a good book.

It doesn’t work like that – Although it would be nice if it did – at least one day a week.

Don’t get me wrong, I love what I do – but it’s definitely not for everyone. Sure, I’m able to work from home – work my hours around the schedules of my family, but there are many weeks that I work WAY over 40 hours.

There’s nothing about working from home that is “part-time” and there is certainly nothing “easy” about it.

When reviewing my stats, I see many people arrive here looking for easy jobs like data entry – that’s fine if that’s your thing, but that’s not what I do.

I am often asked how to tell a legitimate work at home offer versus a scam – in a nutshell, if you are signing up or applying for a job and it gets to a point where it asks for your credit card – It’s A Scam!

I have never, EVER paid money to make money. Unless you count the hosting fees, custom template designs and the occasional membership for forums I participate in.
