Greater Bridgeport Bar Association Scholarship Requirements:

• Be a permanent resident of one of the 9 towns in the Greater Bridgeport Area: Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Milford, Monroe, Shelton, Stratford, Trumbull or Westport
• Have graduated (or will graduate) from a 4-year college or university
• Have been accepted into a law school accredited by the American Bar Association, and plans to enter the first year at that law school at the beginning of the next semester.
• Demonstrate strong academic achievement (GPA of 2.7 or higher)
• Show a sincere interest in community and/or extracurricular activities

To begin the online scholarship application process, please visit the scholarship page on the website of the fund manager, The Fairfield County Community Foundation. From this link simply click “apply now”, complete your personal scholarship profile, check your eligibility for the GBBA Scholarship and click “apply” to start the application.

The deadline for submission for scholarship applications is March 31, 2012.

This final proposal would require lawyers to complete 36 hours of continuing legal education classes within a three year reporting period, six of these hours must be dedicated to legal ethics/professionalism. The exemption for lawyers who are 65 years of age and older and have been practicing for more than 10 years  has been removed from the proposal.
