Day One of Conferences is officially over. Greenville, Blackburn, Webster, Principia, Fontbonne, and Eureka all brought their “A” games to Forest Park for a day of competition. The first two rounds of singles and the first round of doubles were facing off today. After some skeptical weather as well as some skeptical line calls, the day came to a close with 3 individuals making their way to the final round, which will be played tomorrow. Number two singles: Jessie Harling, Number 3 singles: Jamie Harling, and Number six singles: Brittney Headreack, will fight for the title of Champion. Number 3 singles: Megan Troupe and Number 5 singles Avery Cole will be vying for third place. Number one single: Mandy Mandgold placed fifth. Some crazy and intense tennis was played today and I am so proud of all the girls. Tomorrow the truth will be revealed. The Finals and the Doubles matches will start up again bright and early tomorrow morning. Keep your fingers crossed for good weather (although the Lady Panthers will “make it rain” and bring the thunder with their smokin’ serves”.)

Dear Lady Panther Fans,

I apologize for the inconvenience and no Twitter updates today. I had an unfortunate incident with my phone and some water. For all those waiting to hear the outcome of today’s match against Rend Lake, here it is…

Greenville slaughtered Rend Lake 8-1. The team we played was quite vocal to say the least. There were some screams and squeals but Greenville didn’t let it affect their game play.

Number 3 singles: Jamie Harling 7-5 6-1 GC

Number 4 singles: Avery Cole  6-3 6-4 GC

Number 1 doubles: Kim and Mandy 8-5 GC

Number 2 doubles: Jess and Megan 8-2 GC

Number 3 doubles: Kristin and Jamie 8-2 GC

There is also a match tomorrow at Blackburn…. Hopefully the Tweets will be back up and running.

On Monday April 5^th, after a long Easter Weekend, the girls had to come back for a critical match against Principia. There were some insanely close matches and the points seemed to last forever. Greenville ended up losing to Prin, 4-5.

Here is the toss up: Greenville defeated Westminster, Westminster defeated Principia, and Principia defeated Greenville. This just proves that these teams are very evenly matched. The outcome of the conference matches will be pivotal. Who will come out on top?

The annual Lady Panther tournament has come and gone. It was a cold couple of days to say the least. Blackburn and Rend Lake made their way to the Ville to face off for the Championship title. On Friday the single matches went on. The girls played best two out of three sets with a super tiebreaker for the third. By the end of day one, Jessie Harling, Avery Cole, and Jamie Harling had fought their way into the finals.  After some tough matches, Jessie took first beating Rend Lake6-1 6-1 along with Jamie beating a fellow teammate 7-6 (7-1) 6-1. Avery Cole finished strong receiving Second place.

The doubles competed in the sub zero temperatures. There was a lot of cuddling to keep warm off the courts but on the courts was a different story. The doubles played a round robin to determine the winner. Doubles teams Kim and Mandy, Jessie and Troupe, and Kristin and Jamie all made it to the finals. Jessie and Troupe defeated Rend Lake 6-4, 6-1 for the title! Jamie and Kristin also won a victory against Rend Lake 6-0, 6-1. Kim and Mandy played an intense match (filled with manly screaming and questionable line calls) against Rend Lake and ended up taking second place, 3-6, 6-2, (9-11). Congratulations to all the girls who got to play in the Lady Panther Invitational.

Another conference match at the Ville is over! We went into today feeling confident and ready to start off strong after a full week of playing. The girls came ready for an awesome match, but it didn’t go exactly as planned. Who knew tennis could be played with so many lobs? Webster lobbed every single ball and it made for a long, slow, and frustrating match. We now know what we need to work on… we need to dominate those lobs!
