The season 5 of True Blood Premiere Review & Discussion

noreply@blogger.com (The Blues) — Mon, 11 Jun 2012 12:49:00 +0000

An often action-packed pleasure journey through the consequences of the past interval, the Actual Program interval 5 high level provides a thoroughly exciting, though issue, first follow up for the series’ new year.

Picking up where the insane Actual Program interval 4 complete staying, much of the high level follows Sookie (Anna Paquin) and buddies through the outcomes of their murderous trips. Certainly a need given the several cliffhangers and imperfect encounters that were staying from last interval, a familiar divided provides itself in the high level, where linking up decrease stops with some outcomes is juxtaposed with new, highly effective encounters for others.

As Sookie and Lafayette “take care” of Tara and Darlene, Expenses (Stephen Moyer) and Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) “take care” of Nan Flanagan and the Creature of the night Power, and Sam (Sam Trammell) and Alcide (Joe Manganiello) “take care” of Marcus and the load up, while Jerr (Ryan Kwanten) is throwing factors off with Bob Newlin (Michael McMillian) and Jessica is trying to “find” herself. Oh, and Russell Edgington (Denis O’Hare) is returning.

While personal and contingency tale lines are not fundamentally a bad feature, Real System once started as 1 tale with many areas. Now many experiences with their own personal components haze the story – each landscape symbolizes its own tale with its own figures (which hardly ever overlap).

Aside from this feature creating Real System a truly effective watching encounter (if you want to keep up with what exactly is going on), the deficit of fluidity amongst the series’ many tale lines creates it challenging to get an overall feeling of what exactly is actually happening in Bon Temperature.

That being said, for those able to absolutely understand carry of True Blood changeover from its preliminary story to its existing constructing, the period 5 elite is a combined bag of thoroughly pleasant moments and fascinating personality times.

With many of the best personality times coming from companies Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) and Terry (Todd Lowe), many of the other story lines existing a more increased psychological front side, which can often become wacky or foolish – while still staying pleasant.

Though teases of Russel Edgington and other upcoming difficulties were distributed throughout the elite, there is not really a obvious feeling of where Real System is going as the period advances. Having tested periods beyond the elite, it’s reasonable to say that some will be amazed to see what happens by show four. Of course, by now, this should be no shock for lovers of Real System.

Having knowledgeable past conditions of Gods and wizards, lovers of the sequence should be up to rate with how the sequence responds to outside people trying to get into the tale. Luckily, Real System period 5 seems to be trying to tell comprehensive stories using many of the series’ acquainted encounters. While several new figures are included throughout, their addition seems more natural and overall developments the characters’ tale perfectly.

By switching Terra (Rutina Wesley) into a creature of the night, it certainly provides the sequence with a way to keep her around. Furthermore, it allows the authors to tap into another side of the personality. Providing the abilities of a creature of the night to a lady who has mostly been misused by the world, it’ll be exciting to see how she takes to her new interest in the night.

Finally in contact with upon Terry Bellefleur’s army past, the come back of former platoon head Meat Devins (Scott Foley) provides an fascinating story for the generally silent personality. Though Devins’ release was hidden by a complicated release that just didn't even appear sensible to Terry (let alone the audience), the overall purpose of Devins was not made as clear as it probably should have been.

Trying to integrate so many individual story lines into a 60-minute tv sequence is very difficult – something Real System hopefully discovered from last period. So while the Real System period 5 elite is an pleasant selection of new and finishing story-arcs that, for those willing to give way to its quickened rate of storytelling, symbolizes that beginning of what very well could be a completely exciting period, that feeling could unfortunately change at any time.

Until true purpose of Real System period 5 is exposed, the most secure bet is to take it one show at the same time period, because who knows when the next 10-minutes legendary fairy war will break out.

True Blood is like baby doll with Kristin Bauer van Straten design

noreply@blogger.com (The Blues) — Mon, 11 Jun 2012 12:34:00 +0000

Outfit developer Audrey Fisher gets plenty of hot material to work with salad wearing the figures on HBO's hit sequence "True Blood."

"I have to design all these incredible fantasy scenes," she says, "and things like the beautiful turn-of-the-century outfit Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) wears in a flashback create a lot of drama and excitement and intensity in our department."

Fisher likes salad wearing Pam because there is a lot of permission in how she designed the character with designer Mike Ball.

"Pam's got certain eras she really loves the designs from. She considers herself like a Barbie doll and considers her clothes like costumes. At Fangtasia we've had a Lara Croft outfit, a biker bitch outfit, a Barbarella outfit, a black widow outfit. It's fun for us to come up with a theme for each outfit. ... I imagine Pam has shoppers in New York, Paris and L.A. sending her cutting-edge things because she is a diva. It helps to have that imagined back story."

Fisher explains some of her preferred Pam looks, which she discovers everywhere from an L.A. shop known as Syren Fashion and the Beverly Middle to classic locations and music shops:

"That's a latex dress from a really wonderful store in L.A. called Syren that I work with a lot. They have an incredible line of latex fashion and designers, and this is one of their staples that I customized and added latex gloves to match. It was featured in an exhibit on the little black dress at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. It's a very elegant dress that happens to be made out of rubber. It's so very Pam, and getting it on is not easy. The trick is lube. You have to lube yourself up and slide*into it and use lube to keep it shiny. Kristin's figure is a dream to costume, and we have so much fun. She will put anything on and we'll just work it out. She is pretty fearless."

"This is a Brian Lichtenberg dress. I saw these dresses in a window at the store in the Beverly Center. It's red and glittery and one shoulder and incredible. I just immediately thought of Pam with that crazy shoulder. We call it her Lady Gaga outfit. The juxtaposition of this crazy dress in Sookie's grandma's house was really funny. We also used a crystal collar and cuff customized by Marianna's Designer Jewelry to match the red of the dress. She's got a store in downtown L.A. She's amazing, and I've worked with her for years."

"This is a Chanel knockoff that I found in a consignment store for when Pam is trying to be a good vampire. Pam wears an Upper East Side ladylike suit that looks very proper when she is trying to pretend, and it's usually pink because that's hilarious. She was being forced to do a pro-vampire ad and doing it terribly, so this was the perfect choice."

"This is another Syren piece. It's a really beautiful purple satin and black latex corset with a black latex skirt and black latex gloves. There's a little lace 1880s-looking top underneath by a wonderful company called Heavy Red that makes beautiful corsets, steampunk (think the 2011 movie 'Sucker Punch') and goth. This outfit was designed to replicate the silhouette from the turn of the century to provide a bridge from the turn of the century look to the current look. Pam has a look that she likes and it works even 100 years later."

"This red one is so good! It is a vintage North Beach Leather dress. North Beach is a really well-known line from the '80s. I was a teenager in the '80s and for me it's such an epic look. Cindy Crawford and Christy Turlington and Claudia Schiffer all did ads. This Glamazon look is imprinted on my mind. I wanted a very special outfit for this episode -- especially arch and bitchy and fabulous. I got in my head that I wanted a North Beach look, and I got it on eBay and it fit her like a glove. It was magical like Cinderella's slipper and she looks fantastic, like Donna Mills. It's completely over-the-top '80s and I'm so proud to be able to rock the North Beach Leather on the show because I am such a fan. I also love her giant hair and amazing makeup. Kristin is our 'True Blood' Barbie doll that we get to play with."

Xbox SmartGlass Review for Video game industry

noreply@blogger.com (The Blues) — Tue, 05 Jun 2012 09:27:00 +0000

Tablets to keep winning graphics and computing power, gaming companies are rethinking how to integrate the devices into their overall strategy.

But industry experts say it's still a long way to go before the tablet is used as a console - on par with the Xbox or PlayStation - mostly upscale AAA games like Assassins Creed or Gears of War.

In Entertainment, Entertainment Expo, which began in Los Angeles on Monday, Microsoft unveiled a new feature that will bring to the Xbox, called Smart Glass. The feature allows Xbox games, movies and TV shows with tablets and smartphones to be integrated. He will be with all of Apple tablets and phones, and Android devices, and those working with the Windows operating system, and allow tablets as part of the overall gaming experience used.

Video game industry consultant Jason Della Rocca, founder of Perimeter Partners, said that most of the games on tablets similar to those on smart phones: they are casual games that are usually free, and not take advantage of graphics processors of the higher end tablets.

He said most of the editions of tablets hardcore games greatly reduced and limited to allow the players to buy armor and weapons for use in a multiplayer version of the game, instead of providing a complete version of the game

He believes the players will soon be demanding.

“Having a full experience on your big screen, and some crappy just little branded thing, just to say you have something on the iPad, I think we’re getting past that point,” Della Rocca said.

It is expected that there will be games hardcore many more that are designed for tablets that the Xbox should be made to compete with the iPad.

But despite the technological advances of tablets, he believes it is still a market for game consoles and games are developed for them.

Yannis Mallat, CEO of Ubisoft Montreal, said he still sees, smartphones and tablets as a companion for consoles that allow players to be fully on their games all the time.

He said compressed video games in the hands of those who have not put in possession of a console. But all this is potentially a new market for game companies, he believes he is the wrong step to deliver the same experience of a game like Assassins Creed AAA, in a tablet.

“I see the hard-core gamers still pretty much on the console HD experience, unless there is some benefit to playing that on the tablet. The technological gap is slightly closing. Does that mean I want to have the exact same experience, the same hard-core HD AAA experience on the iPad? Maybe not the exact same one. Maybe a different one.”

He added having games on a mobile device can expose Ubisoft to a large audience that may not be familiar with its games.

“From 300 million gamers to 2 billion (players on smartphones or tablet), if we can (get) even a small percentage of those newcomers, we’ll be very successful,” he said.

Will Cory Booker surrogate the latest gaffe-prone of Obama?

noreply@blogger.com (The Blues) — Tue, 22 May 2012 01:37:00 +0000

In Newark, NJ, Mayor Cory Booker marked on the long list of political stand-ins for both President Barack Obama and Republican Mitt Romney, who have turned off completely, addressed a message in a presidential election for his gaffes, which attract attention.

A donor Obama, Booker campaign forced President damage control mode over the weekend, when he made his attack on the regime of Romney to a private equity firm "disgusting" called. It did not take long for the Republicans to the commentary on Mark, and to try for the Democratic mayor to clean up the mess caused by the release, where a YouTube video in which he said it was fair to do for Obama caused his professional past Romney campaign theme.

Obama weighed in Monday as the dust-up on social networking sites, called Booker a "great mayor," but insisted that he continue to talk about the experiences made by Romney at Bain Capital.

"It's important to recognize this issue is not a distraction," the president said. "It's part of the debate we are having in this election."

The result pleased the Republicans, while causing headaches for Obama, illustrates the difficulty for a presidential candidate in control of his message to the era of YouTube and Twitter. He also raised questions about how campaigns should be held accountable for what their supporters _ as a "substitute" in the political-speech known _ or say or do.

"Maintaining message discipline with surrogates has always been a challenge of the modern campaign. In the era of social media it is an exercise in futility," said Chris Lehane, a spokesman for Democrat Al Gore's 2000 presidential bid. "Most surrogates are significant people in their own right with their own views, own constituencies and own press corps, and are used to speaking for themselves and not conditioned to the idea that whatever they say or do will become attached to a presidential candidate."

His effort to soften the blow of his comments Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press" didn't seem to satisfy Obama's team. Campaign strategist David Axelrod told MSNBC a day later that Booker was wrong and Romney's experience at Bain "speaks to an economic theory that isn't the right economic theory for the country."

At the same time, bought a gay Republican National Committee ads on Twitter alerted comment Booker, and launched an "I'm with Cory" petition, which refers to a video signatories to it.

Almost everyone who speaks on behalf of a candidate, is a substitute is called, if they greedily close advisor, television experts and donors to make their views known. Some carve substitutes closely related to the conversation campaign. Those who are not quick on the spot.

This is what happened Romney strategist Eric Fehr flux told CNN in March that the campaign "hit a reset button" when Romney was the Republican candidate.

"It's almost like an Etch A Sketch," Fehrnstrom said, referring to the children's toy. "You can kind of shake it up, and we start all over again."

The remark, which immediately went viral on the Internet seemed a story that has long campaigned _ Romney, former governor of Massachusetts is a shapeshifter who can not be trusted as a true conservative increase. Campaign advisers insisted Fehr spoke about the current logistics of running a general election and not the foundations of Romney. But the Democrats took the time to attack Romney anyway.

_ The celebrities often useful to get attention and money to attract a candidate _ can also cause headaches for campaigns.

Talk show host Bill Maher, the $ 1,000,000 at a Political Action Committee supports Ultra helped Obama, a post written on Monday on Twitter, "referring cult" the Mormon faith than Romney. The Obama campaign said Romney's religion should not be part of the campaign.

Maher has also sparked controversy last month when he used an expletive to his HBO program, argued that Romney's wife, Ann, has not worked outside the home. Republicans called Obama to distance himself from Maher and stated that PAC super, priorities for action in the United States should be money to give glory.

This dust-up was similar to others since last month when Obama supported Hilary Rosen, Ann Romney said, "had never worked a day in his life." The Obama campaign quickly condemned the comments and tried to distance themselves, even if Rose plays no role in the campaign. The Obama team fears the lack of a strong rejection of the remarks roses, both the voters and turn signals that the attacks on the wives were acceptable.

Romney campaign had its own problems with a surrogate glory, as Ted Nugent, a rock music star, made provocative remarks about Obama.

Nugent met with Secret Service representatives after a speech to the National Rifle Association in which he referred to Obama's "evil, America-hating administration" and urged voters to "chop their heads off in November." Nugent added, "If Obama is elected, I will either be dead or in jail."
Romney's campaign, which sought and publicized Nugent's endorsement, distanced itself from his comments. "Divisive language is offensive no matter what side of the political aisle it comes from," Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul said. "Mitt Romney believes everyone needs to be civil."
That wasn't enough for Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who called on Romney to "condemn Nugent's violent and hateful rhetoric immediately."

Super PAC, to raise and spend unlimited amounts of money that can and should be supported by law from coordinating with candidates, they were banned emerged as a kind of compensation and continued to remain complicated efforts for campaigns on the message.

Romney was forced to resign and for an advertising campaign is planning a conservative __ Super Pac this controversial relationship of Obama with his former pastor, Reverend Jeremiah Wright to answer. Joe Ricketts, the founder of TD Ameritrade was billionaire Securites, with a weight of 10 million contribution to the effort, but said after it became public, and he would not participate in these efforts.

Is Britney Spears wearing underwear?

noreply@blogger.com (The Blues) — Sun, 18 Sep 2011 15:08:00 +0000

We're starting to think that Britney Spears wants us to see her precious area after being the culprit of one too many commando-gone-wrong scenarios, and it looks like she hasn't learned her lesson.

Before you start putting together a panty fund to cover this girl's kooka, Spears was actually wearing underwear this time!

That's a start.

Brit-Brit was photographed getting into a car wearing a short green dress after leaving her U.K. tour party at the Sanctum Hotel, when we got our little surprise.

Even though the star can't seem to get ladylike etiquette down, let's focus on the positive notes at least her undies weren't see-through and she didn't opt for a merkin like some other usual pantie-less characters.

difficult pregnancy from Nancy Grace

noreply@blogger.com (The Blues) — Sun, 18 Sep 2011 10:17:00 +0000

Nancy Grace had a difficult pregnancy; it's probably got more to do with her advanced age than with the concept of what comes around goes around, but you never know. Nancy's twins, John David and Lucy Elizabeth, were born prematurely on November 4.

Nancy suffered from pulmonary edema at the end of her term. In layman's terms, that's when your body keeps retaining fluids until your lungs fill up and you drown. It's often caused by blood clots.

This past weekend Nancy started retaining fluid and having trouble breathing; by Sunday morning she was headed back in to the hospital for treatment.

Nancy's husband, David Linch, says she's "doing pretty doggone good" now that she's properly medicated.

The twins are likewise doing well, both having been weaned from feeding tubes and now nursing from bottles. They're said to be out of danger from their low birth weight, and Nancy is expected to be released by week's end.

We wish the happy new family much happiness. Especially the mama.

The tragic die Amy Winehouse overcome young addict

noreply@blogger.com (The Blues) — Thu, 18 Aug 2011 07:17:00 +0000

Some are alcoholics, some are drug addicts and some depend on both. Connecting them is a deep desire to overcome his demons and the progress of a clean life, with the help of a dedicated project recovery basement in Halifax. Today the father of Amy Winehouse tragic, Mitch, the Ministry of Interior lobby for greater investment in the rehabilitation of young people. Only residential juvenile unit of Britain closed last year due to lack of funds. In Halifax, a carefully crafted program of recovery comes with a limited budget for old users who know the young people as obstacles in front of Amy. In the last few years have seen an increase in the number of girls attending. We found some in Halifax and another specialized unit in Derby. Among them is Claire Binns, 29, who seems out of place alongside other participants in the basement of the project, whose years of substance abuse on their faces says. Claire's story bears a striking resemblance to Amy - except for one crucial factor. While Amy died at 27, Claire's life began to change for the better at the same age. After becoming an alcoholic at 14 and move to hard drugs, Claire realizes that could have followed the same path.

I don’t ever wanna drink again… I just ooh i just need a friend, They tried to make me go to rehab but i said ‘no, no, no’ Amy Whinehouse

Claire says: "I always believed I would be dead by 33 if I continued the way I was.

"Various attempts at treatment failed. I found the NHS services too clinical and out of touch. Whenever I ended up in hospital I was treated like a binge drinker and discharged as soon as possible when clearly there was something more serious going on.

"Now things have changed so drastically I can hardly believe it.

"Thanks to the Basement Project I haven't taken drink or drugs for 15 months.

"I'm gutted about what happened to Amy but if her dad can improve services for young addicts in her memory, hopefully some good will come of it."

Claire's life began spiraling out of control when he started drinking 14 years.

From two gallons of cider a day moved to one-liter bottles of vodka and eventually drugs such as cocaine, LSD and ecstasy.

Claire says: "From 14 I was drinking heavily. I'd meet friends and knock back two bottles of cheap cider.

"Naturally my education suffered because I was so badly behaved. I started using LSD, ecstasy and inhaling gas from pressurised canisters. Later I drank spirits like vodka when I could afford them."

Between the ages of 18 and 24 who were 35 cases of drunkenness and disorder in their criminal record.

Claire's biggest regret is turning to violence to his terminally ill mother, who died when her daughter was 25 years with problems.

She says: "Mum had lung cancer and I looked after her as it progressed.

"She paid me £50 a week for helping with her care and I'd spend every penny on drink.

"One day after boozing I smacked her on the face and pushed her over. There is no excuse. When sober I'm a really nice person but alcohol made me evil.

"What hurts most is that Mum will never see me clean. She will never see what I've made of myself."

Claire eventually hit rock bottom when a cocktail of drugs and alcohol landed her in intensive care. She remembers being deeply affected by a visit from her grandmother.

Claire says: "I had sunk so low I went on a binge. After lots of drink and drugs I swallowed several anti-depressants.

"I have a vague memory of being violently ill then waking up in hospital.

"During a visit from my granny I remember her talking to me, which made me feel really different. I knew I had to change.

"I'd end up dead if I didn't."

Claire says: "I honestly didn't think this would work. I'd tried giving up alcohol before and didn't get anywhere. The Basement Project is run like a big family and the staff are former addicts so they know what you're going through. They told me the truth of the situation - if I kept drinking I would die.

"During recovery I couldn't imagine life without another drink.

"But I've been dry for 15 months and I can imagine the next 40 years without a drop."

In September Claire begins a degree course in Criminology at the University of Huddersfield. She is now a Basement Project community recovery champion, lending a hand to promote the scheme to other young men and women who badly need its services.

Claire says: "I feel extremely lucky.

"I know there are a lot of young people struggling and they don't have a Basement in their town. Hopefully Mitch Winehouse's campaign will change that.

"Meanwhile I'd advise them to investigate all the drug treatment facilities in their area.

"Put in that bit of extra effort to get clean - it isn't easy. And don't give up.

"There is a much better life waiting around the corner."

emergency petition from Casey Anthony's from jail

noreply@blogger.com (The Blues) — Thu, 18 Aug 2011 07:03:00 +0000

Casey Anthony's defense filed an emergency petition Wednesday with the District Court of Appeals Fifth, asking the justices to overturn an order requiring the probation report in Orlando. Chief Judge Belvin Perry ruled last week Anthony has until August 26 to inform the State Department of Corrections office in Orlando one year of probation. Anthony has been in hiding since he was acquitted on charges of manslaughter in the death of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee.

The petition indicates that Anthony had already served the sentence of probation, handed down by Circuit Judge Stan Strickland, pleading guilty in a case of check fraud in 2010 while awaiting his murder trial.

Perry's ruling is an "illegal sentence" and "thecourt lacks jurisdiction and would violate double jeopardy by resentencing thedefendant to an increased sentence," the petition states.

Strickland sentenced Anthony to time served in jail, 412 days, and one year of probation, which would begin after she was released from incarceration. When Strickland's ruling was recorded by a clerk, however, it stated the probation term would begin immediately, the petition notes. Anthony began her probation while in jail pending other charges and her sentence was terminated after one year by the Department of Corrections, according to the document. Strickland amended his order to reflect that Anthony serve her probation after she was released from jail following the murder trial, according to the document. The order was upheld by Perry.

Are unprovoked shark attacks becoming more common?

noreply@blogger.com (The Blues) — Wed, 17 Aug 2011 15:35:00 +0000

Sharks have again made the headlines for all the wrong reasons. On Tuesday a British man, Ian Redmond, was fatally attacked by a shark while he was snorkelling in the Seychelles in the Indian Ocean. It was the second fatal attack by a shark in the area this month. But are shark attacks becoming more common, and are more swimmers and bathers dying as a result?According to the International Shark Attack File (ISAF), a program run by marine biologists at the Florida Museum of Natural History, the number of unprovoked shark attacks has grown at a steady pace over the past century with each decade having more attacks than the previous. For example, in the 1900s there were, worldwide, around 20 recorded unprovoked attacks by sharks on people. That steadily climbed to around 100 by the 1940s, passing 500 by the 1990s. By the 2000s the figure had surpassed 650.

But in many respects, this data is misleading. The ISAF is the best current data set for shark attacks we have, yet by its curators' own admission, this rising tally of recorded unprovoked attacks does not actually mean that sharks have in any way gained a greater taste for humans, or are attacking them at a greater rate. That is because the media and scientists paid far less attention to shark attacks in the past than they do now.In 1916, people along the coast of New Jersey, US were gripped by panic as a spate of shark attacks occurred in quick succession between July 1 and July 12.The national media descended on the area to report the attacks, which killed four people and injured another. Scholars to this day debate which shark species was responsible, with a bull shark or great white being most often blamed. But those attacks created an exceptional media storm. Most attacks went unreported and data about them was not systematically and objectively collated. The ISAFs own records show a dip in the number of attacks occurring during the 1970s and 80s. But that, says the ISAF, is more likely due to the fact that the organisation itself didn't keep as complete records as it did before and since.Other factors have changed too, and must be taken into account. The human population has grown rapidly in the past century, meaning many more people are taking to the water, and engaging in recreational activities for longer periods that put them in closer proximity to sharks.Florida has the most unprovoked shark attacks recorded anywhere in the world. The state's increase in shark attacks, from a handful in 1900-10 to around 190 in 2000-10, mirrors almost exactly the decade by decade increase in the numbers of human residents, from 1 million to more than 16 million today.California, Japan and Hawaii show a similar trend. In Australia, there are no more attacks today than there were in the 1920s, 40s or 50s, and actually far less than in the 1930s or 1960s, despite the human population rising from 4 million to more than 18 million.

Another interesting statistic is that while recorded attacks have steadily climbed each decade, the proportion of people dying as a result has fallen consistently across the same period. In the 1900s, 0.6% of unproved shark attacks on people proved fatal. By the 1960s that had fallen below 0.2% and today less than 0.1% of victims die as a result of an unprovoked attack. There are likely to be many reasons for this decline; modern surfboards and diving gear get bitten rather than their owners, while victims reach vastly improved medical facilities much sooner.Even identifying which sharks are most likely to attack is notoriously difficult.Great white sharks get the most blame. This species, one of the largest of the predatory rather than filter-feeding sharks, has been recorded attacking unprovoked 182 people, killing 65.Tiger and bull sharks, a species that can frequent fresh and salt water, have similar statistics, both having attacked around 60 people, each species killing around 25.

But victims or onlookers are rarely able to accurately identify which shark species actually attacked, which is unsurprising given the stress of any attack and the speed at which it happens. That means even these statistics must be treated with caution. They are likely to be skewed toward more easily identifiable species, such as great whites, tiger, hammerheads and nurse sharks. But a range of species have also attacked people, including sandtiger sharks, blacktip sharks, narrowtooths, blues, shortfin makos and even wobbegong sharks.Tooth remains are seldom found in wounds, and according to the ISAF even trained professionals find it difficult to tell which species caused a particular bite, especially among the requiem shark species belonging to the genus Carcharhinus, which include bull sharks, oceanic whitetips and many others implicated in attacks. If more of these sharks were accurately identified after an attack, then species such as hammerheads would get pushed down the list of those which attack people most often."Nonetheless," says the ISAF, "the white, tiger and bull sharks are the 'big three' in the shark attack world because they are large species that are capable of inflicting serious injuries to a victim, are commonly found in areas where humans enter the water, and have teeth designed to shear rather than hold."However, overall, the tally against each species remains small, especially relative to the large number of interactions significant numbers of individual sharks have with swimmers and divers.Sharks, it seems, are not attacking people at a greater rate than in the past. It's just that more people are getting into the water with sharks. And the more frequently we do so, the greater the likelihood that attacks will happen.

Anne Hathaway spits rhymes Lil Wayne-style on 'Conan'

noreply@blogger.com (The Blues) — Wed, 17 Aug 2011 15:27:00 +0000

Last night on Conan, Anne Hathaway proved she’s got Weezy’s swagger down pat (call her s–t Patricia?) by throwing down a rap about her frustration with the guerrilla cameramen stalking the Dark Knight Rises set in Pittsburgh.

“With all the stuff that’s been going on with Batman, the paparazzi attention’s been a little intense. So I actually wrote a rap song about it,” Hathaway told Conan O’Brien. “It’s in the style of Lil Wayne.”
Hathaway then proceeded to spit verses in true throaty, straight-faced Lil Wayne form — and then quickly snapped out of it, finishing off the performance with a dazzling smile and a ladylike giggle.

Redmond's wife, Gemma Houghton, 27, whom he had married just two weeks ago, was sunbathing at the time. She ran for help, screaming: "That's my husband!" the paper reported.

Beachgoers who witnessed the gory attack were appalled.

"I saw a swimmer who was missing a huge chunk of flesh from his left leg - so much so that I could see the bone of his thigh," one tourist told The Telegraph.

"He was sickeningly pale, but still had flippers on both feet," the tourist said.

Witnesses who were in a boat when Redmond was attacked him out of the water, but later died at a local hospital because he had lost much blood, the newspaper said.

Redmond's death was the second fatal shark attack reported on the beach of Anse Lazio on Praslin. Nicolas François Virolle French tourist, 36, was killed August 2, The Guardian reported.

With the man-eating or eating human flesh is still lurking in the waters off the coast of Praslin, authorities banned swimming at Anse Lazio and closed all the beaches nearby, reports said.

Shark Specialists of South Africa also hopes to reach the island to hunt the sea monster or monsters.

"My boobs. They're not bad, by the way. I'm not complaining about them."

She went on to say:

"I believe that every woman is entitled to fight to preserve her youth. But not by becoming overly surgified by celebrity dermatologists.

"It's like the uniform of a generation. And it's not necessarily beautiful. It's not wrinkled-looking, but it's not beautiful."

Meanwhile, Gwyneth now puts boob jobs in a different category to vanity-led Hollywood surgery, saying that compared to Botox and the like it's completely acceptable.

She told German OK magazine:

"I still refuse to use silicone, Botox or other of those gimmicks out of pure vanity.

Elvis Presley offers something for everyone?

noreply@blogger.com (The Blues) — Tue, 16 Aug 2011 15:16:00 +0000

What Elvis Presley makes people flock to Graceland the day of his death, year after year to hold candlelight vigils? Why celebrate his death, apparently over his birth?

On this day 34 years ago, King was found collapsed on the floor of the bathroom, dead of an apparent heart attack at age 42. The role played by drug use in his latest death has been debated for decades, with the common knowledge that the years of abuse led to many medical problems that contributed to his death.

Today marks the end of “Elvis Week,” the 7-day celebration/memorial service held at his long-time home of Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee. The culmination of the week was last night’s candlelight vigil, where fans were “invited to walk up the driveway to Elvis’ gravesite and back down carrying a candle in quiet remembrance. Free admission. No tickets or reservations. Gates remain open until all who wish to participate in the procession have done so, which typically takes until the early morning hours of August 16, the anniversary date of Elvis’ passing.”

Last night, the crowd reached 15,000 to 20,000 people strong and lasted until dawn. People came from all over the world including Japan, England and Germany, to lay flowers and other tokens in his grave.

Why Elvis still have much power over our national consciousness? Why do not we let him go, as we have let so many other icons really rest in peace? Jon Pareles Critic had this to say about the 25th anniversary of his death:

Twenty-five years after he died of a drug overdose in his bathroom at Graceland, on Aug. 16, 1977, he is still a charismatic figure, as widely recognized as a president or a Coca-Cola logo. And he is still ripe for admiration and exploitation.

Elvis remains an archetype as a musician and a celebrity, as an idol of almost religious proportions and a punch line, as a success story and a cautionary tale, as a touchstone for performers and a cash cow for recording companies.

Elvis offers something for everyone? For those old enough to have lived through its rise and eventual downfall, which has been elevated to a religious icon? For the younger generation could hardly remember when he died, is a fascinating story - a true American tragedy?

Is it just revered as the first U.S. mega-star?

Whatever it is, people really care about Elvis and the day of his death is basically a national day of commemoration. He is a top trend on Twitter and tweets are rolling in by the hundreds every few minutes.
