So… the globalisation 3.0 term is taken from the book “The World Is Flat” by Thomas L. Friedman.
In this episode we discussed the globalisation of individuals. We also discussed the return on investment VS return on meaning/involvement.

Anyway, one of the big paradoxes in business is that, usually, things don’t work out because of a cultural mismatch of values. Erich suggests that we leave the stereotypical values out and get to the real “value fingerprint” of people, in their own lives.

Geek Army Knife #6 – “what Orwell didn’t predict” – with Sanjay Khanna

So Sanjay of Khanna Research was our mystery person to be interviewed for the Geek Army Knife #6. He met Stephanie and Bryan Rieger in Vancouver after he had worked with Nokia writing a thought paper on the future of play. The connection they shared was a mutual interest in mobile games. In the paper for Nokia, Sanjay talked about stress and anxiety increasing. As a response, the Nokia team commissioned Future Platforms in United Kingdom to develop a mobile toy called “Twitchr”. Twitchr is a casual game that Sanjay thinks is quite calming to play.

The reason this podcast episode is called “what Orwell didn’t predict” is that Mr. Orwell forgot to predict the rise of business/marketing/PR in his essay called “politics and the english language”.

Which is what is changing the world so drastically these days – Sanjay also comes with the notion that we will be having a reversal of stereotypes – which is quite interesting stuff =) – We talk about sustainability, economical resources and nothing less than the future of the world.

Geek Army Knife #5 – Talking to Stephanie Rieger about “all the m’s”

So we have had the pleasure of having a Mobile User Experience designer on our incredibly useful podcast - none other than the fantastic Stephanie Rieger.

We talked to Stephanie about the context of devices, about transiding from web to mobile, about “all the m’s” and how she believes that instead of replacing the things we know from the internet, the mobile is going to enhance them.

We also touch a bit on the digital divide…good stuff for proper tech enthusiasts =)

As for the sound quality, I want to try out some hardware changes here, but I haven’t had the time…

Easily putting it, forgetting about it. Actually I didn’t forget, I changed the times, from 2pm to 20h. Of course, everyone else was still ok’ed to 2pm, but when it’s me doing the actual recording it’s a big no-no.

So, what else can I say? I’m really really sorry… I was completely mind set to 20h. I just hope we can re-schedule soon.

Is consisting of a conversation with a person – ( any person really that can help us make this really useful) – which often results in a lot of giggles and a couple of really good tips about web and geek and army knifes…

The team

Henriette Weber Andersen was born in Helsingør, Denmark, more than 20 ( but less than 30 ) years ago and have always had a very hard time compromising herself to any extend. She has a background in various communities ( especially in music, IT, females and theater) starting from having been a catalysator to optative.net – whereas now focus on her own projects at Toothless Tiger. She works with community consultancy and community marketing – then she has a reputation of being THE scandinavian creative wildcat when it comes to projects and web apps.. .MIAUUV.

Duarte Velez Grilo was born in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1980. Since then, he grew up a bit. ~~He’s trying to finish his never ending software engineering course, with relative sucess.~~ He’s currently globe trotting the world, helping your mobile service provider charge you better. He also claims to be the first podcaster in Portugal, which we hope will help this podcast. He’s done a bit of everything, from construction work to roadie in an obscure electro-rock concert.
