We cover, in chronological order:

Having guests on the podcast – want to talk on the show? Contact us!

Keeping the kids safe around the house, and at what point do you start needing assistance? Joe’s getting a babysitter to come by the house for a little while during the day.

Controlling the computers from other rooms to troubleshoot for the kids, and the sense of wonder kids have for technology at this young age because they don’t take it for granted yet.

The iPhone, again. Sorry. I give my opinions after having it for a week.

Google Voice – setting up a new phone number and how to fit it into your life. Lifehacker has a good article about it.

Do people still memorize phone numbers? Don’t people just run off contact lists now? Well, no, because we’re teaching our kids to memorize our numbers.

Moving all my email to Gmail because of the superior spam filtering. Apple’s Mail filters aren’t cutting it anymore.

Trust issues with Google when it comes to archiving voice mail, text and everything else they archive. There’s a great book that Joe recommends called Googling Security: How Much Does Google Know About You?

Buying books, college textbooks and education expenses.

We had a great show, and we’d love to hear what you think about anything we covered this week!

My guest today was Scott Stratten, President of UnMarketing. He's widely-known for his viral video talents and is the unofficial Mayor of Twitterville.

In this podcast, Scott talks about:

His diverse marketing background and what "UnMarketing" is all about.

Whether it's possible to market something you could care less about.

What Twitter is to him, how he makes use of it and how he finds the time to Tweet as much as he does.

Tips on how to grow your Twitter followers

What he would do if Twitter ceased operations tomorrow. [Scott nearly has a heart attack during the portion of the show]

What he would do differently in business if he was given the power of a Do-Over and the scoop on BuildYourFollowing.com

Essentially, it uses the GPS (and possibly NFC) on other phones to feed your mobile devices with traffic reports. For instance, if your phone notices that a lot of other phones are clustered up ahead on the road, it can tell you that traffic is thick, and then suggest alternate routes.

<itunes:summary>This format is a departure from the usual way things go around here. After the Advertising Tax Talk and Crab Feast in Baltimore last week, a bunch of us decided to do a pub crawl.

In this PubCast, a bunch of buzzed affiliate marketers talk about the event, how to eat Maryland crabs, advertising tax and why we hate despise former NY Governor Eliot Spitzer.

The podcast runs a little shy of 10 minutes -- that's 10 minutes of your life that you'll never get back. But, listening to me and Shawn Collins pick on other is kind of funny, if I do say so myself.

[On a side note, it's amazing the strange looks one receives when busting out a Mac and a couple of head sets in the middle of a Baltimore bar. Just sayin'...]

In Affiliate ABCs #14 host Deborah Carney (a.k.a Loxly) interviews guest Cathy Stucker about her service that links bloggers (or webmasters) with other bloggers and writers appropriately named Blogger Link Up. BLU, as Cathy refers to it, is an email newsletter that currently has four ways for bloggers/webmasters to use it:

Request Guest Posts
Offer Guest Posts
Request Sources for Interviews
Offer Products for Review

There are other similar services, like Peter Shankman’s Help a Reporter Out, but BLU is more focused as a tool to create relationships between webmasters/bloggers and HARO is more focused on actual media connections. They are complimentary tools, and you probably want to subscribe to both.

As an affiliate looking for more content for your site, you can take advantage of BLU to make connections, and to get ideas also. You might see a guest blogger offering content that is in your niche but from an angle you didn’t consider or that you aren’t able to write effectively about.

One question I have been asked when talking about Blogger Link Up with people is they want to know why they shouldn’t just submit their articles to article directories (like ezinearticles, ideamarketers or any of the others) and the answer is simple, still submit your articles there, and go find artilces there, but use BLU to make personal contact with people so that you can get guest posts that are more targeted and offer your articles directly to blogs that really need your content so that you both benefit. It’s all about the personal touch and making direct connections.

The sources area is great for finding sources to quote for articles, and for finding people to interview for podcasts as well.

And the products for review is very valuable for affiliates to find things that are appropriate to their sites to obtain to review and put you in touch with merchants that are willing to give you items for contests or giveaways also.

Listen for tips from both Deborah on how she uses the service, and Cathy about why she started it, how she knows people are using it and where she hopes to take it in the future.
