Just as expected earlier, after Apples announcement of the iPhone SDK, SUN also unveiled their plans to release iPhone compatible version of Java VM, making it possible to run Java apps.

Java VM will be based on Java Micro Edition, which is a version of java designed for mobile phones, PDA??s and other portables. Even though Apple didn??t express any interest in enabling Java, but SUN said they will make it so themselves.

Java would be useful not only for small apps, or games, but also for enterprise applications.??Once our JVM is on the phone, we anticipate that a large number of Java applications would run on the phone,?? Klein said.

Chris Silva, research analyst said that bringing JVM to iPhone could increase devices security.

After SDK??s release SUN experts analyzed it and decided that there is nothing that would prevent Java working on the iPhone. According to Klein, Sun plans to release Java SE and JavaFX technologies.

??It??s a new platform for us. We might be able to bring additional technologies onto the iPhone and the iTouch,?? Klein said.

On top of the slowdown in sales, one analyst is also pointing out that Apple??s ten-million quota for 2008 probably won??t happen, and especially not without a 3G iPhone release. The same analyst says that the 3G iPhone will likely include many new and updated features: ??Apple is likely to offer a faster processor in the devices, along with more onboard memory, which will also increase speed, downloading/uploading rates and browsing experience.??

Additionally, he expects features like voice or video capture, GPS, and more.

Tomorrow Apple is to unveil its software roadmap for outside developers who are interested in developing applications for iPhones.

??Please join us to learn about the iPhone software roadmap, including the iPhone SDK (software developer kit) and some exciting new enterprise features,?? read an invitation to tomorrows event held in Apples HQ in Cupertino, California.

Gartner analyst Van Baker thinks that Apple is more supportive of large developers instead of letting small developers to play with iPhone.

??I think Apple is going to keep a pretty tight rein on this because the last thing they want is some fly-by-night guy writing an iPhone program that breaks it,?? Baker told AFP.

Other main expectation is that apple will make iPhone more compatible with business applications such as Exchange.

Apple wants to let developers tinker with iPhone software while simultaneously protecting against viruses and other malicious code.

Jobs is on record saying he expects iPhones to be ??a highly visible target?? for malevolent software wizards. He said that Apple might take a lesson from Nokia, which is not allowing outside applications onto some of their new mobile telephone models unless the software has a ??digital signature?? from a known developer.

No doubt there will be lots of news from today??s upcoming Apple iPhone SDK event, so if you need to get a bite to eat, but don??t want to spend too much time away from such pressing matters there??s now an easy and ??Quik?? solution!

GetQuik, a provider of restaurant order automation technology and services, today unveiled GetQuik for iPhone, a mobile ordering web application for Apple iPhone users that allows customers to skip long restaurant lines by ordering their favorite food from their iPhone. ??We think the iPhone is an ideal mobile food ordering platform,?? said Ken Ryu, GetQuik founder and CEO. ??We designed the iPhone web application with the goal of minimizing clicks and key-strokes to provide a fast and convenient ordering experience.??

The GetQuik for iPhone service, which launched today as a public beta, operates on the iPhone??s Safari browser. After Apple releases its iPhone SDK to developers, GetQuik plans to update GetQuik for iPhone to operate as a native application. GetQuik also plans to provide customers the ability to search, view and order from a restaurant??s complete menu directly from their iPhone.

How GetQuik Works

GetQuik simplifies restaurant ordering with its online ordering technology that enables customers to order from their favorite restaurants via the web, mobile phones or widgets.

To use the service, customers simply register for a free user account at http://www.GetQuik.com. Once registered, a user can create and save favorite menu items and meals from participating restaurants. These favorites can later be accessed from the iPhone web application.

Registered GetQuik users can access the iPhone application at http://iphone.getquik.com.
