Yep the goopy portion is the drier part — I've found that it's easier to smudge with this over the liquidy portion.

As for the La Mer, OMG YES it's so worth the money! I actually wrote a post about it a while back: http://www.geekinheels.com/2012/02/07/cool-tool-tuesdays-la-mer-the-powder-and-the-powder-brush.html

First - love the makeup tutorial. I stumbled upon your blog after a google on sleep training (I have a little boy who's 4 months old!). I use MAC's liquidlast liner also but I apply using their brush. I like how your eyes look though and want to try your technique! Just a few questions: Why do you use the part near the handle, the "goopy" part? I'm presuming this is the drier portion and not the liquidy portion near the end of the brush.

What do you think of La Mer powder? I'm using Shiseido transclucent powder right now but am thinking of upgrading. Worth the money or overrated?

On a side note - like you, we have an inter-racial Asian marriage, my husband's Korean and I'm Chinese and we're both fluent in our respective languages. Unfortunately, I don't think our little boy is going to speak anything but English (and Spanish, bc of his nanny) and I'm super impressed that Claire speaks Korean!

Hello,

I would like to offer you a link to a letter written by the heads of 22 European pediatric agencies to the American Academy of Pediatrics.

In essence, there are no health benefits to circumcision - the 85% of men worldwide who are intact do not suffer daily for their burden of having a foreskin - and the AAP suffers from severe cultural bias that warp it's findings.

http://pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/early/2013/03/12/peds.2012-2896.abstract

I hope that this helps you with your decision to keep your son intact.

If you want it more succinctly, this head of the UK medical establishment's comments may be of interest:

Seriously, this question has been asked repeatedly and I'm so tired explaining to you westerners one by one so be grateful you're the last guy I'd explain it to. Now check the ancient paintigs of China, Japan, Korea- heck even places with darker skinned people like Thailand and Malaysia. Thousand years ago paintings that existed before westerners came to Asia in their "vini, vidi, vici" belief, would show you beautiful girls with white-skin or lifht color skin.
This is because in farming world- people who are of noble born or rich are not required to work under the sun and thus manage to retain lighter skin color.
This may surprise westerners themselves- but before industrial reform, when places like England still depends on their farming and agricultural business... Even on those places, they consider "tanned" skin to be beneath those of upper-class level. Why? Because only peasants spend time under the sun.
Look at european paintings of their ancient royals- none of them are painted with tanned skins. So yes, the mentality existed in Europe too before the age of conquest.
After the age of conquest- white people see those who has tans as "worldly", so rich ad upper class because they can travel around the world(thus spend more time under the sun compared to their unlucky peers who stay at home). This is the start of tanned skin era, suddenly it's prized by westerners.
And thus you have white people trying to gain those tanned skin look, as if they're trying to be black or mixed with black.
Crystal clear?
