Do You Delete Old Email Addresses?

I have finally gotten used to the weekly, "Did you get my email?" phone calls from my mother. Predictably, every Sunday around late afternoon, she calls to tell me about something cute my nieces have done, or fill me in on the latest gossip about someone I went to high school with. "I wrote this in an email, didn't you read it?" she'd say. Of course, I had never received the email, and just assumed my less-than-tech-savvy mother was doing something wrong. This time though, I asked a question that I don't normally ask: "What email address are you sending it to?" She rattled off an address I hadn't even thought about for at least a year. Oops.

I logged into the old account and, lo and behold, amid a ton of spam in my inbox were a bunch of emails from Mom.

Most of you leave old social networking profiles online even if you don't use them, but what about old email addresses? Do you close old accounts when you open a new one?

A Mouse Pad and Weekly To-Do List in One

The Taking Care of Business mouse pad ($12) is a weekly calendar (the first page starts in January 2010) with space to write your to-do list in sections labeled "high priority" to "errands" and check boxes to keep track of progress. Each Monday, you get to start a fresh week with a new sheet!

This week: more drama on my favorite TV shows, cool new tips for the BlackBerry, and - this is super-exciting - the upcoming release of Super Mario Bros. for the Wii! Check out these stories and more of what you might have missed in this week's Week in Geek!

Arcade Fingerless Gloves: Totally Geeky or Geek Chic?

This is one pair of gloves I wouldn't call practical - but they're kind of cute. Though they won't keep your fingers warm in the Winter chill, the Snow Day Arcade Fingerless Gloves ($16) will keep your fingers free for texting and, presumably, video-game playing.

The gloves (hmm. . . can I call them gloves if they don't have fingers?) feature vintage video-game designs, like this Space Invaders-themed pair. They're cute, but are they cute enough to make up for cold fingers? What do you think?

Website of the Day: Filler-Item Finder

You know how great it is when you find exactly the item you were looking for on Amazon, but then realize you only have to spend a tiny more to get free super-saver shipping? You don't want to overspend, but you also can't think of anything else that you'd want to buy. This has happened to me many times when the amount I have to spend is less than five bucks. For these moments, there's Filler Item Finder.

Filler Item Finder scours Amazon for cheap items and gives you a list of things you can toss in your cart to save some dough on shipping, just by entering the amount you're still in need of.

Have an interesting website you want to share? To learn how to post your favorite websites to our Website of the Day group, read more.

First of all, join the Website of the Day group.

Click "New Post" under the website of the day tab at the top of the page.

Give your story a "Title."

Fill in the "Body" with a link to your favorite website and the reasons why you love it.

Type "Technology and Gadgets" in the Categories box

Add keyword(s) in the tag field with relevant tags (for example mine for this story was "Website of the Day").

Choose whether you want the post to be private or public.

Click "Create Post" to submit content.
