Do You Have More Than One Cell Phone?

It always amazes me at how many gadgets women can stuff in their purses (I'm just as guilty as the next person). But, what shocks me even more is how many people have more than one cell phone! Right now, I just have one on the go, but I have lots of friends who have a cell phone for work and one for personal use. And then there are those who have two different handsets - one for going out or everyday use - that they regularly swap their SIM card between.

Now most of you said you have more than one camera, so do you have more than one cell phone (that are in use) as well? And if you do use two or more, do you actually keep them on you?

Make Your Fourth of July Geeky and Eco Friendly!

I'm counting the minutes until the grill gets fired up for my family's annual Fourth of July barbecue! Grilling is one of my favorite pastimes, especially since I'm an apartment dweller, but as I discovered earlier this year, that doesn't have to stop me from enjoying a nicely grilled meal. If you're having a celebration this weekend and don't have a patio to park a barbecue, no worries - the George Foreman Indoor/Outdoor grill is here to save you. I know I've mentioned this item before, but it's totally worthy of another spot here. Plus, when used with the Digital Barbeque Thermometer, you'll have perfectly cooked steaks every time.

However, if you will be outdoors this weekend, try to connect with nature and go solar. Not only do Ikea and Amazon have plenty of stylish solar powered hanging and yard lights to keep you partying into the night, but if you invest in a Solio, you can power tunes from your iPod or MP3 player all day long via your eco-friendly DIY Cardboard Speakers.

Is Turning Off Your BlackBerry the Key to Happiness?

Oh, Gwyneth Paltrow. The Oscar winner recently made some comments about how much she loved Spain and how different it was from the US, citing their enjoyment of life more - and attributing it to a lack of cell phone connectivity.

She said:

"They aren't running around as much as in New York. They enjoy time with the family. They don't always have their BlackBerry on."

So . . . the key to happiness is letting your BlackBerry die and not recharging it right away?

Maybe she meant not having it always attached to your head (which gets awkward in intimate situations anyway), but I don't think that my level of happiness would shoot up if I turned my cell phone off.

What do you make of Ms. Paltrow's quote?

How to Use Google Sites to Back Up Travel Docs

I love to travel, which means I'm always on the lookout for any new, interesting and helpful travel tips. So when I caught this amazing tip in this month's issue of Budget Travel, I was all over it.

There's plenty of ways that Google can be used for travel planning, and now there's another way Google can help you while you're on the go: use Google Sites to store all your travel documents, like scans of passports and ID's, itineraries, and conformation numbers for easy access anywhere in the world. This is a lifesaver if you lose your wallet or important documents abroad and need to get back home. Since Google Sites allows you to password protect your website, you can rest assured that no one can get a hold of your private docs - as long as you use a good (and complicated) password that is!
