Hey Gang! A new behind the scenes featurette for James Cameron’s Avatar popped up online recently that features actor Stephen Lang as he talks in depth about his character Colonel Quaritch. He discusses who he is and his relationship with the main character Jake. There is a good amount of great new footage implemented in this video and I think this is the best and most revealing Avatar promo video so far. Just to be safe I am also going to say that there probably some spoilers.

Check out the new Avatar behind the scenes video below and tell us what you think!

I came across a list over at AV Club of what they say is the top 30 TV shows of the last decade. I thought this would make for some great conversation with all of you.

I pretty much agreed with most of the shows that were put on the list, but I would move many of them around. I just think some of these shows are better than others and deserve to be higher in rank. I definitely agree with the number one spot for best TV show of the last decade… The Wire, which is seriously one of the best shows ever to be made.

Personally Dexter and Battlestar Galactica would have been in my top 10, I would have also added HBO’s Carnival to the list. I loved that show and was pissed it got pulled off the air before there was closure.

These are the same guys that made the Sequels That Bombed Chart.

When comic books first started being published they were not taken seriously at all. Who would have thought after all these years that comic books would become one of Hollywoods main sources for the stories they decide to adapt into a film? It all started with Richard Donner’s classic, Superman.

The comic book movies started out strong, but then all of a sudden it seems like Hollywood wasn’t taking the comic’s that they were turning into films seriously. They were going into production with crappy scripts, directs and actors. It wasn’t until recently that they realized that comic book films had the potential to be absolutely incredible if they actually put some time, effort and talent into creating them. In 2008, the universally acclaimed The Dark Knight became the first superhero movie to gross over one billion dollars worldwide. Finally Hollywood got it right!

Now all of a sudden everyone wants to be a part of that comic book geek community. Proof of that is how big the San Diego Comic-Con has become.

Brian S- How did you get into acting? Any inspirations? Any advise for people trying
to get their foot in the door?

Alana Curry- I actually started out as a dancer doing ballet and tap, so I was always performing on stage productions. Then in high school I started
modeling and then booked some commercials. I was hooked, it was so much
fun I decided to focus my efforts on acting instead of dance. It worked in my favor, feel blessed to have kept busing working as an actress in film / tv ever since. I do remember when i first arrived in LA I was a little overwhelmed to say the least. I went on many auditions before I booked my first job. I learned many things including that this is a business where you get rejected 95% of the time. You have to learn to handle rejection gracefully and not take things personally.

Brian S- So when you’re not acting what’s your favorite things to do? Activities?

Alana Curry- Well get ready I really enjoy alot of things lol. I love concerts, shows, live performances, movies, music, fine dining, shopping and traveling. On an average day you can catch me at spinning class, laying out at the beach and hanging out with my dog & two cats, something I truly cherish.

Brian S- What do you prefer the most, film or television gigs?

Alana Curry- It’s hard because i really love both and they are so different. I worked on all kinds of projects- horror movies, soap operas, sitcoms, action thrillers… There are positives and negatives to all. In the words of my friend Director Tim Sullivan: “Shooting a movie is like going to war”. Which is true it can be long hours, working thru the nite, dealing with weather elements and such, but after spending countless hours and energy for weeks or even months with the cast and the crew there is a bond there that you have created something wonderful together and there is such satisfaction gained when seeing your work on the big screen. Being part of a television show can be equally as rewarding because you can develop a character over longer periods of time. There is a feeling of family working week after week with the same people, and a steadiness that i really enjoy from television.

Brian S- Ok,let’s get serious, kinda! So you’re in the upcoming Mike Nichols thriller ‘Breadcrumbs’, what can you tell us about it, release date(theatrical or dvd) and your character in the film?

Alana Curry- Breadcrumbs was a blast to make. Talk about bonding with the cast and crew… we were secluded in the Hamptons for a month… not a bad location eh? We shot nights in a giant house in the woods so it created a very spooky feeling. Just walking around the set in the middle of the nite – in the middle of the woods- listening to all the sounds would give me the creeps sometimes. I play a character appropriately named “Vanity” lol. The story is about a group of actors going out to the woods to shoot a movie. So basically its a movie in a movie. There’s a director, there’s a makeup artist, the PA, the new actors, the veteran actress, the diva (that’s me). But soon we learn we are not alone in the woods and the real story takes off from there. Horror fans are gonna love this one!

Brian S- You have ‘Dahmer Vs. Gacy’ coming out in 2010 and when I think ‘Dahmer Vs. Gacy’ I think Alana Curry! Just kidding or am I? But seriously i’ve seen the two movies based on the two killers and now they have been paired up like a Freddy Vs. Jason match. Tell us about this flick and the character you play. I know funny man Harland Williams is in it so how’d he end up in a movie like this? Oh and drummer Steven Adler (from Guns N Roses, i’ve watched him on Dr. Drew, what’s his role in this cool killer flick? Just wondering!

Alana Curry- Dahmer vs Gacy has got it all- the gore, the killers, and best the comedy and you are right indeed– We are blessed to have a cast of some very funny actors. The storyline is that two of the most notorious killers of all time have been cloned and then get loose! I play a crazy fan of the serial killers- you know one of those real wack jobs that would write the killers in prison and praise their every crazy move– yep that me! haha…

Brian S- Ok, now to 2001 Maniacs: Field Of Screams and one i’m really looking forward to! What can you tell us about this highly anticipated cool sequel to Tim Sullivan’s 2001 Maniacs?

Alana Curry- Well i am really looking forward to this too! I recently did my ADR sessions and saw some of the footage and it looks awesome! I cant say a lot about the storyline but this is going to be a real treat to watch.

Brian S- You play a character named “Bristol Bush” in which only Tim Sullivan and Chris Kobin could come up with, what can you tell us about “Bristol Bush”?

Alana Curry- Well Bristol is kind of a lovable snob. She can be cold with her words but has a lot of warmth to her also. She is part of the unlucky group that runs into the Maniacs this time around.

Brian S- How’d it feel working with a cool horror legend like Bill Moseley who has replaced Robert Englund as “Mayor Buckman” in this chapter?

Alana Curry- It is hard for an actor to step into a role that another actor has already created– but not for Bill. He took and made it his own effortlessly. He kept everyone on set laughing and plays an amazing
Mayor Buckman! im sure the fans will be very pleased.

Brian S- What’s your funnest memory from this film? Or worst memory, I heard the skeeters were terrible!

Alana Curry- Well I have very good memories from this shoot. We had a lot of fun on this one. We shot in Iowa in the middle of a field which was set up to look like a big carnival. I remember one evening we had to shut down for a couple hours because there was a tornado warning. the sky turned light and the winds & rain picked up. The actors gathered in one trailer and waited till it passed. I guess it happens all the time in the midwest but to little ol me from LA it was a little scary. The biggest challenge besides the elements were the BUGS! Everyone was drenching themselves in insect repellent non stop we all stank like bug spray.

Brian S- How was it working with a cool guy like Tim Sullivan and the Maniac cast?

Alana Curry- The cast was a good blend of personalities, we all collaborated well together and made a fun time out it. It was nice to work with Christa again- this is third film we’ve done together. (Alana and Christa
Campbell both appear in ‘Revamped’ & the David Carradine film ”Blizhniy Boy the Ultimate Fighter”) As for Tim, he is one of the most relaxed, genuine, kind people i have met in this crazy industry. As a director, he is the actors dream- hes supportive, creative, has a great sense of humor, hes open to hearing ideas, and he has a calming quality about him that kept this set running very smoothly despite the hectic schedule. I hope I get to work with him again.

Brian S- Ok, Alana are there any questions you’d like to ask me or the fans out there? Yes, i’m putting you on the spot but this is how I roll.

Alana Curry- Fans of Horror movies are a very special bunch which is why there are so many horror movies made today and its such a successful genre. So thank YOU for your support- Us actors appreciate it more than you know!

We reported a few months ago that Night of the Living Dead was going to get a CGI 3D reboot from first time feature director Zebediah de Soto. This will happen without the involvement of George Romero, which might be a good thing cause I think he may have lost his touch. Personally I think the project could end up being pretty cool, I’m a huge zombie fan and I am interested to see what the style turns out like.

Bloody-Disgusting recently talked to actress Danielle Harris who revealed that both Mos Def and Bill Moseley have joined the voice cast of Zeb de Soto’s Night of the Living Dead: Origins 3D. Moseley will be playing Johnny, the same role he took on in Tom Savini’s 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead. Joseph Pilato, Mike Diskint and Helen Cooper also star.

On the story front, De Soto, who wrote the script with David R. Schwartz, wants to update the tale partially by bringing out the characters’ backstories and make what he called “an American-style anime.”

To read more about how they plan on accomplishing this film with new technology that that the filmmaker is inventing, click here.

I’m excited to see this new CGI technology in zombified action, it’s obvious they are using Night of the Living Dead because it’s well known title — it’s better for marketing purposes, which is probably why they didn’t go with something more original. Even though we’ve seen Night of the Living Dead done to death, we haven’t seen it in 3D CGI.

What do you all think about this new zombie project?

When the second full trailer popped up for Percy Jackson & the Olympians, I thought it would only have a scene or two more footage than the Full International Trailer. I was wrong, and I’m extremely happy I was. The new trailer is packed with more than 30 seconds of eye popping action.

The film stars Logan Lerman(3:10 to Yuma/Gamer) in the title role. In the new trailer, we get our first look at Sean Bean as Zeus and Catherine Keener as Percy’s mother. But we get a little less of Uma Thurman as the sexiest Medusa I’ve ever seen. The film also stars Rosario Dawson, Pierce Brosnan, Erica Cerra(Eureka), and Tropic Thunder’s Brandon T. Jackson and Steve Coogan.

Directed by Chris Columbus(Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone & Chamber of Secrets), and based on Rick Riordin’s novel, Percy Jackson & the Olympians is set in the 21st century, where the gods of Mount Olympus and assorted monsters have walked out of the pages of high school student Percy Jackson’s Greek mythology texts and into his life. And they’re not happy: Zeus’ lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect. Even more troubling is the sudden disappearance of Percy’s mother. As Percy finds himself caught between angry and battling gods, he and his friends embark on a cross-country adventure to catch the true lightning thief, save Percy’s mom, and unravel a mystery more powerful than the gods themselves.

The only aspect I don’t like about the new trailer, is the slightly spoilerish declaration that is included in the trailer. They give a much bigger hint to it in the beginning of the trailer, but give the full on reveal when Percy realizes, “I’m Poseidon’s son!” Well, it may be not be that big of a secret. But rejoice in the fact that Kevin McKidd(Rome/Grey Anatomy) will be taking up the trident in the film.

Percy Jackson & The Olympians hits theaters Feb. 12th.

There’s a water battle at the end that looks pretty freaking amazing. Check out the Trailer and let us know what you think!

We got our first look at Dominic Sena’s Supernatural thriller Season of the Witch last month when Lionsgate released a little teaser trailer. There wasn’t much revealed in the first trailer, and I wasn’t really that impressed with what I saw. There is now a full trailer that you can watch, which gives us a much better idea of what you can expect from the film.

The movie stars Nicolas Cage as a knight in the 14th century as he and his partner played by Ron Perlman, transports a girl suspected of being the witch behind the Black Plague to an abbey of monks trained in exorcising demons.

A beleaguered church, deeming sorcery the culprit of the plague, commands the two knights to transport an accused witch (Claire Foy) to a remote abbey, where monks will perform a ritual in hopes of ending the pestilence. A priest (Stephen Campbell Moore), a grieving knight (Ulrich Thomsen), an itinerant swindler (Stephen Graham) and a headstrong youth who can only dream of becoming a knight (Robert Sheehan) join a mission troubled by mythically hostile wilderness and fierce contention over the fate of the girl. When the embattled party arrives at the abbey, a horrific discovery jeopardizes the knight’s pledge to ensure the girl fair treatment, and pits them against an inexplicably powerful and destructive force.

Sena also directed Whiteout, Swordfish, and Gone in Sixty Seconds. All of his flicks have been pretty mediocre, but fun. I’m not expecting too much from this one.
Mia Wasikowska(Alice In Wonderland/Defiance) and Michael Fassbender(Inglourious Basterds/300) are in negotiations to star in BBC/Focus Feature’s big-screen adaptation of Charlotte Bronte’s classic novel Jane Eyre.

The film is being directed by Cary Fukunaga(Sin nombre) from a script by Moira Buffini. The project is a period piece but will play up the gothic elements of the story. The iconic piece of English literature has been the subject of numerous previous adaptations… and many book reports.

In the role Ellen Page was originally attached to some time ago, Wasikowska would take on the title character of Jane, a demure governess who discovers her surly employer Rochester (Fassbender) is harboring a dark secret.

We’ll see soon enough how well Wasikowska does as a leading lady, when she stars opposite Johnny Depp in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. I thought she did a fantastic job in Defiance. Fassbender has been consistently amazing and transformative in all his roles. He will next be seen in Neil Marshall’s Centurion, as well as opposite Josh Brolin in Jonah Hex.

Ruby Films’ Alison Owen and Paul Trijbits are producing Jane Eyre, with aims to begin shooting next year.

What do you think of Wasikowska and Fassbender taking on the roles of Jane and Rochester?

In case you need a bigger brush up, here’s the Cliffsnotes Book Summary for Jane Eyre:

When Jane returns to Thornfield, the houseguests have left. Rochester tells Jane he will soon marry Blanche, so she and Adèle will need to leave Thornfield. In the middle of this charade, Jane reveals her love for him, and the two end up engaged. Jane is happy to be marrying the man she loves, but during the month before the wedding she is plagued by strange dreams of a destroyed Thornfield and a wailing infant. Two nights before the wedding, a frightening, dark-haired woman enters her room and rips her wedding veil in two. Although Jane is certain this woman didn’t look like Grace Poole, Rochester assures her it must have been the bizarre servant. The morning of the wedding finally arrives. Jane and Rochester stand at the altar, taking their vows, when suddenly a strange man announces there’s an impediment to the marriage: Rochester is already married to a woman named Bertha Antoinetta Mason. Rochester rushes the wedding party back to Thornfield, where they find his insane and repulsive wife locked in a room on the third story. Grace Poole is the woman’s keeper, but Bertha was responsible for the strange laughter and violence at Thornfield. Rochester tries to convince Jane to become his mistress and move with him to a pleasure villa in the south of France.

It happened, the Twilight fanatics came out in full force on opening night. Summit Entertainment has announced that The Twilight Saga: New Moon has broken box office records, earning over $26.27 million in midnight screenings from 3,514 theaters.

The previous records were held by Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince with $22.2 million, and Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, which earned $18.4 million for the midnight showings. Also, Summit’s re-release of the original Twilight on Thursday night on 2,057 screens resulted in $1.3 million in ticket sales.

I’m pretty sure that Twilight will take the number one spot at the box-office this weekend.

5. The Blind Side – 9 million – This movie looks like it may be the best of the five. Sadly, heartwarming sports stories sometimes don’t draw guys, and the girls are all about the mighty Edward this weekend.

4. A Christmas Carol – 11 million - This movie will make more next weekend than this weekend. It’s a mortal lock.

3. Planet 51 - 16 million – I don’t know about this animated stuff this weekend. This movie may fall flat.

2. 2012 – 32 million – Seriously, this movie is all action, and not much substance (well, that’s what I heard!). So after a big opening weekend, and with other curious moviegoers waiting another week to see it because of the holiday, this movie will take a huge drop from its week one rake.

1. New Moon – 70 million – Look, my wife sees fewer than 15 movies a year on the big screen, but tonight, at midnight, even though my 3-year old son just had his tonsils removed a few hours ago, she is heading off to the movies to see this movie. So don’t be surprised if this movie makes closer to 80 million or more. I just think that with next week being Thanksgiving (when more people are willing to wait a few extra days to see a movie) we might see this film make a more conservative number.

Let me know what you think. Give me your top five predictions! Or just your New Moon prediction will be fine. I am not trying to get you to lock in with a long-term commitment.

Thanks,

EMH

We were just sent a link to some awesome concept art for this movie featuring some great looking character designs by artist Stephen Martiniere with soldiers decked out in different kinds of armor, and the heroine of the story Alyss Heart. Martiniere has worked on concept art for films such as Red Planet, the Star Wars Prequels, and I, Robot.

Check it out and tell us what you think!

These first four characters are identified by a card suit, Club, Diamond, Heart and Spade. This refers to their class in the heirarchy of Wonderland.

It looks like Dustin Hoffman won’t be returning to reprise his role as Bernie Focker in the third installment of the Meet The Parents franchise, tentatively titled Little Fockers.

Laura Dern, Jessica Alba and Harvey Keitel are the latest actors to join Little Fockers, which reunites most of the main cast from the first two films, with Ben Stiller, Teri Polo, Robert De Niro, Blythe Danner and Owen Wilson confirmed to reprise their roles.

But for those of you looking forward to seeing Hoffman and Barbra Streisand reunite as Ben Stiller’s parents, you may have to resort to popping Meet The Fockers back in the DVD player. Sources tell EW that there has been strife between Hoffman and the studio over the size of the part, the scheduling of the days on set and other difficulties.

Hoffman had tentatively agreed to appear in what was to be a very funny cameo at the end of the film. That seems to have now fallen apart, due to either salary issues or scheduling problems, or both. The studio, Universal, declined to comment. Hoffman’s rep didn’t immediately return EW’s call for comment.

Barbra Streisand was to have a prominent role in the new sequel as Stiller’s mother, Roz Focker. She hasn’t signed on officially at this point, and with Hoffman’s involvement in turmoil, it remains to be seen how it will affect production(if at all).

Little Fockers won’t pickup right where Meet The Fockers(2004) left off, but rather true to the time between the films, some 5 or 6 years later. Dern’s casting confirmed rumors(and what the title suggests) that Stiller and Polo’s characters Gaylord Focker and Pamela Byrnes gave birth to twins, as Dern will play the headmistress of the elementary school that the Fockers’ kids attend.

Meet The Parents and Meet The Fockers director Jay Roach will be producing the film, scripted by Larry Stuckey and recently rewritten by John Hamburg, who wrote the first two films and directed and wrote this year’s I Love You Man. Paul Weitz(About A Boy/American Pie) will be taking over to direct.

Little Fockers is set to hit theaters on July 30th, 2010.

I love everyone who is returning and that has been added to the cast. I’m looking forward to seeing what Weitz can bring to the franchise. I feel that the first film was head and shoulders above the sequel though — it really dragged on too long, despite the comedic brilliance of Hoffman in place. But that’s just me. Besides, if his role was gonna be limited to a small cameo… is it that big of a deal?

What do you think of Dustin Hoffman not returning for LITTLE FOCKERS?

Twi-Hards really turned out in full force at the movie theaters last night to watch New Moon, they pretty much took over the theaters. I heard it was insane! My wife went to see the movie last night with some friends, and she told me that not only were there a ton of teenage girls, but women up into the ages of 65 years old were standing in line decked out in Twilight crowns, T-shirts, and bags. Teenage girls were showing up in full on footed pajamas, you know the kind parents put there babies in, only for teenagers? Yeah, I don’t get it either. At the Burbank AMC there were about 9 full lines waiting to get into sold out shows. Apparently all the guys were at the Buffalo Wild Wings Bar next to the megaplex theater getting drunk before the movie.

My wife said the movie was really good though. Much, much, better than the first film. I’ve heard from others that it was even better than the book. She then proceeded to tell me that she thinks I would like it. That has yet to be seen.

So we want to know what you thought about the movie The Twilight Saga: New Moon.
