Knowing where the traffic and the delays are can make your commute or road trip much more enjoyable. At one time netbooks were really popular, then along came tablets and the demand for netbooks has slowly been dying out, and now Toshiba has decided that they won’t be launching anymore new netbooks in the US.

Brad from Liliputing recently spoke to an executive from Toshiba and was told that the company has no plans to launch anymore netbooks in the US.

Flickr has today added new Group features to its photo sharing service, together with a Justified View, providing the ability to submit photos directly to Groups via the Uploadr and brand new API methods for developers.

Since Justified View was launched Flickr users have been requesting that the feature be added to Groups. Flickr has now listened to the masses and from today can now browse the 1.2 billion photos in Flickr groups in their new Justified View.

In a recent SEC filing it has been revealed that Apple’s new CEO, Tim Cook, has turned down a dividend worth $75 million US dollars, the details were revealed in a filing which announced that Apple plans to award a $2.65 a share quarterly dividend on restricted stock which is held by Apple employees.

The Apple CEO has decided that he does not want to receive the dividend on his restricted stock, which would be worth around $75 million to him.

We have all seen those fake apps in the Google Play apps store, one company behind some fake Angry Birds and fake Cut the Rope apps has been fined a total of £50,000 and ordered to refund £28,000 that they conned out of people using their fake apps.

What the company did was offer fake free apps through Google Play, and when a user downloaded the app the received a text, but what the users didn’t realize was they were being charged around £15 for the texts, this didn’t come to light until they got their mobile phone bill.

It looks like Asus may be about to launch a new version of their Asus Transformer Pad TF300 Android tablet in the US, as a version of the device, the Asus Transformer Pad TF300TL has appeared at the FCC.

What is interesting about this version, as opposed to the existing model which comes with WiFi only, the TF300TL appears to come with support for 850MHz and 1,900MHz frequencies support for HSPA 3G and 700MHz and 1,700MHz support for 4G LTE.

Following on from Toshiba’s announcement yesterday, unveiling their new AT300 Tegra 3 tablet running Google’s latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) operating system.

NVIDIA Says 30 Tegra 3 Smartphones Launching In 2012

We have already seen a couple of new smartphones launch with NVIDIA’s new quad core Tegra 3 processor, the HTC One X and the LG Optimus 4X, but it looks like we can expect to see quite a few more before the end of the year.

NVIDIA has announced that there will be around 30 Tegra 3 powered smartphones launched before the end of 2012, so that means there is another 28 to come that have yet to be announced.

Yesterday we heard that NVIDIA’s Icera Modem had been certified for use with AT&T, what this means is that we can expect a range of LTE smartphones to be launched with NVIDIA’s new Tegra 3 processor.

Google added the option for in app billing to its Google Play store last year, and now Google has added the ability for in app subscriptions, so basically you will now be able to pay a monthly or annual fee for subscriptions to things like magazines, games etc.

Apple has had this option available in their iOS app store for a while, and Google Play developers will now have another way to generate revenue from their apps with in app subscriptions.

HTC announced recently that they would not be releasing their bootloader unlock tool for the HTC One X on US mobile carrier AT&T, we recently heard that the HTC One X had been rooted.

Now the guys over at the XDA Developers have come up with their own unofficial bootloader unlock tool for the HTC One X on AT&T, you will need your device to be rooted to use the tool.

Guild Wars fans hoping to try their hand again at the new Guild Wars 2 beta this weekend. You will be disappointed to hear that the second planned beta weekend has has to be postponed until further notice, due to technical problems.

During the last beta weekend a number of issues where uncovered that needed to be corrected. To find the cause of the problem ArenaNet ran some stress tests and discovered it needed to install new hardware before another beta weekend could commence.

Samsung Galaxy S III To Land In Canada June 20th

The guys over at Mobile Syrup spotted the Galaxy S III in an advert for four networks in Canada, which include Bell, Telus, Rogers and Virgin Mobile with a launch date of the 20th of June.

Facebook recently announced that they were buying the company behind the photo sharing app Instagram in a deal which is worth $1 billion, and now Facebook has launched their own photo sharing application for Apple’s iOS devices called Facebook Camera.

Facebook has made it clear that Facebook Camera and Instagram are two separate apps with different features, and the Facebook camera app is designed to work like the Facebook Messages app.

Some of the new smartphones which have launched in the US recently have not used NVIDIA’s new quad core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor due to LTE compatibility.

Well it looks like that is about to change as NVIDIA has now announced that their Icera Radio module has been certified to use on AT&T’s LTE bands.

Peter Hauser has created a new concept for a smartwatch which connects directly to your iPhone smartphone and can provide you with alerts and updates as they come into your iPhone applications.

The difference between the cookoo and other smartwatchs which have been featured on Kickstarter and here on Geeky Gadgets. Is that the cookoo smartwatch is analog not digital or fitted with an e-ink screen. Watch the video after the jump to see the cookoo smartwatch concept explained.

Five New Nexus Devices Coming In November To Celebrate Android’s 5th Birthday?

We heard a previous rumor that Google intends to release up to five Nexus devices this fall, and now according to the guys over at Talk Android, Google will be releasing these five new Nexus devices in November to celebrate Android’s 5th Birthday.

The five Nexus Android devices will apparently launch on the 5th of November, which is Android 5th Birthday, and as we mentioned previously the devices are expected to run stock Android and will be from multiple manufacturers.

HTC One XL Headed To Germany In June

The HTC One XL is the international version of the HTC One X with an LTE radio, similar to the US version available with AT&T, and the device will launch in Germany next week.

The HTC One XL will be available with Vodafone, O2 and Deutsche Telekom in Germany in early June, and it will features the dual core Snapdragon S4 processor like the US version.

Google Found Not To Infringe On Oracle Patents With Android

Google and Oracle have been engaged in a court case for some time, with Oracle accusing Google and their Android operating system of infringing on various Oracle patents.

A jury has returned a verdict in the patent vase between the two companies, and after a week of deliberations, the Jury has found that Google’s Android OS did not infringe on the Oracle patents in question.

XCOM Reboot Delayed, Pushed Back In 2014 (video)

If you were hoping to enjoy playing the new XCOM reboot this year, that is currently under development by 2k Games and was first announced back in 2010. You going to be disappointed to learn that its now been pushed back to a launch sometime in 2014.

This is the second delay for the XCOM game which is a little worrying, and if all had gone to plan from the start the new reboot of the original XCOM would have been arriving in stores this month.

Android And iOS Account For More Than 80 Percent Of Smartphone Shipments

According to a recent report from IDC, both Google’s Android platform and Apple’s iOS platform now account for more than 80 percent of all smartphone shipments.

The report covers the first quarter of 2012, and Android and iOS made up a total of 82 percent of all smartphones combined for the period, Android is apparently top with a total of 89.8 million devices shipped as opposed to 35.1 devices from Apple.
