On Monday we saw some leaked photos of a new version of Samsung’s flagship Android smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S4, the new device will be called the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active and it is designed to be resistant to both dust and water.

We had previously thought that the Samsung Galaxy S4 active would have the same hardware as the Galaxy S4, although now it would appear that the device will have different specifications.

We have been hearing quite a lot about the new LG Optimus G2 over the last few weeks and now it would appear that the handset will come with LTE-A or LTE Advanced, and a photo of a prototype Optimus G2 has appeared online.

The LG Optimus G2 is rumored to come with a 5.2 inch full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, the handset will also feature a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with a clock speed of 1.9GHz.

The LG Optimus F3 was announced earlier in the year, and now it looks like the device is headed to US mobile carrier Sprint, as a photo of the handset with Sprint apps has appeared online.

The LG Optimus F3 will come with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, and it features a 4 inch WVGA display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, the handset will be powered by a dual core processor.

Due to the microgravity in space and a little downtime that NASA allows the ISS astronauts, ISS Astronaut Chris Hadfield has created a whole new type of game called space darts.

Sony Pictures was in the running to produce the Assassin’s Creed movie, but it will not be the first time Ubisoft has ventured into the movie making business and will follow on from the likes of the Prince of Persia movie, which received mix reviews.

It looks like AT&T has decided to allow all video chat apps to work on their mobile network by the end of the year, the news comes after the recent Google Hangout app’s video capabilities would not work on AT&T, and AT&T had suggested that they need to work with Google to allow pre-loaded apps to work on their network.

AT&T has now given another statement to The Verge, which confirms that they are working to allow all video apps to work over cellular on their network by the end of the year.

18 year old student Eesha Khare has invented a cellphone charger that is capable of charging a mobile phone in around 30 seconds, the student won a Young Scientist Award and also $50,000 in prize money which she will use when she goes to Harvard in the fall.

The device is a supercapacitor that is capable of charging a mobile phone battery in around 20 to 30 seconds, and the technology could also be used for other devices such as charging automobile batteries.

The Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Solid State Physics and the Karlsruhe Institute for Technology set a new record for wireless communication speed, sending 40 Gbits/s at 240 GHz over a kilometer. For a world society so deeply “jacked in”, this means that the current trend of increasingly quicker and more stable wireless internet is set to continue.

To put into perspective just how fast that is, at 40 Gbits/s you could download an entire Bluray DVD in under a second with plenty of bandwidth left to spare. The fact that such a connection is possible wirelessly makes the idea of faster broadband connections in more rural areas a real possibility.

Stephen King Forcing a Return to Bookstores

Stephen King, the wildly successful American writer, is refusing to publish an ebook version of his new book Joyland. The book is set to be released on June 4^th, and King specifically went out of his way to acquire the digital rights to the book so he could prevent an ebook version from being distributed.

King has said he’ll probably allow an ebook in the future, but for now he wants readers to take the time to go out and get a physical copy. He hasn’t said so, but it seems like King is hoping to push people into supporting their local bookstores. The writer certainly doesn’t have an issue with ebooks, as many of his works have digital copies available for ebook users. He was actually one of the first authors to embrace ebooks, releasing Riding the Bullet back in 2000.

Tomorrow, Tuesday May 21^st, Microsoft will be unveiling the Xbox that will compete with the PS4 (and arguably the Wii U) for the next generation of console supremacy. Last time, Sony fumbled with the launch of its Playstation 3 and all but drove console gamers into the embracing arms of Microsoft’s Xbox 360. Microsoft has held its dominance in the console war between the two companies throughout this generation largely due to this head start and is looking to retain its title.

So what’s going to be the main focus of the reveal? A new graphics processor that makes everything look life-like? A terabyte of internal memory? Actually, the focus is likely to end up on the non-gaming aspects of the console much like the Playstation 4’s emphasis has been.

Asus Zenbook Infinity Teased Ahead of Computex 2013

Asus has announced that it will be launching a new Asus Zenbook Infinity ultrabook at the upcoming Computex 2013 which runs from June 4th -8th in Taipei.

The new Asus Zenbook Infinity has been designed to be lighter and slimmer than previous models, losing 14 percent of its bulk and measuring just 15.5mm in thickness.

Aston Martin has unveiled a new Aston Martin CC100 Speedster concept to celebrate their centenary, but unfortunately no plans have been announced to put the Aston Martin CC100 speedster concept into production.

The Aston Martin CC100 Speedster is equipped with a 6.0-liter V12 engine which is capable of propelling the car from 0-60 in less than 4 seconds. Watch the video after the jump to learn more about the CC100 Speedster Concept and see it in action.

Jolla’s First Smartphone

Jolla has just showed off its first smartphone, which will cost about four hundred Euros – the equivalent of $510. It’ll sport a 4.5-inch display, 8-megapixel camera, 16 gigs of internal storage, a microSD slot, and a dual core processor. It’ll run the company’s Sailfish OS, but will be compatible with Android apps. However the company hasn’t said just how compatible it’ll be nor how these Android apps will be acquired by users.

For those who may not know, Jolla is a small start-up company based in Finland that’s continuing the N9 work abandoned by Nokia. It’s made up of the directors and core professionals of the N9 project who left Nokia and formed Jolla back in 2011.

Samsung To Show Off 13.3 inch WQXGA+ Notebook Display This Week

Samsung will show off a number of new displays at Display Week 2013 this week, the show takes place in Vancouver between the 21st and 23rd of May, and Samsung has announced that they will be showing off a new 13.3 inch notebook display.

This new 13.3 inch notebook display with feature a resolution of 3,200 x 1800 pixels, and this WQXGA+ display is capable of delivering 30 percent greater power savings than existing notebook displays.

Tumblr Users Abandoning Ship

In case you hadn’t already heard, Yahoo just announced it’ll be buying Tumblr for $1.1 billion. According to WordPress founder Matt Mullenweg, Tumblr users are bailing by the thousands. People are constantly switching between Tumblr and WordPress, but the usual rate of about 500 an hour has spiked to 72,000.

Granted, that’s a number of individual posts, not entire blogs, but it’s still quite the number. Although don’t count Tumblr and Yahoo out yet. The same thing happened when Instagram was acquired by Facebook, but it’s still alive and kicking.

In the last week a rumours has been circulating suggesting that Apple is testing 1.5 inch OLED screen displays, read to be used in its new Apple smartwatch.

The Japanese blog Macotakara has reported that Taiwanese newspaper Economic Times has reported about rumors surrounding Apple’s smartwatch, and that Apple has indeed started testing 1.5 inch screens.

Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 Pre-orders Start Shipping

The Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 will launch on Verizon this Thursday the 23rd of May, the handset recently went up for pre-order and now it looks like Verizon has started shipping out the handset to customers who pre-ordered the device.

Verizon normally uses two day shipping, so it is possible that some of the people who pre-ordered their Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 may get theirs a little earlier than Thursday.

Samsung are working on a number of different versions of their Galaxy S4 smartphone, one of those is the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active and now it looks like we have some actual photos of the handset.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active will come with a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor clocked at 1.9Ghz it will also feature an Adreno 320 GPU plus a 5 inch display
