Tech Radar are reporting that Sony is set to release a new version of its Vaio P in October.

Although the Sony Vaio P hasn’t been the success that Sony wanted, mostly due to its high price, Sony intend to release an updated version in October.

The New version will see faster boot times, presumably it will come with Windows 7, other specifications are pretty much limited, it is expected to cost the same as current models, so you may be better off check out the Sony Vaio W, which is the companies first netbook.

We have seen tons of different USB drives here at geeky gadgets, and now it looks like some of the mainstream manufacturers are starting to incorporate USB drives into their products, the first being Calvin Klein with a pair of sunglasses featuring a built in USB drive.

The Calvin Klein USB Sunglasses will feature a hidden USB drive in one of the arms of the sunglasses, the arm can be detached and then plugged into your PC or Mac to retrieve your data.

The Calvin Klein USB Sunglasses will come with 4GB of storage and will go on sale in October for $199, I am surprised that they haven’t released these earlier ready for summer.

Datawind, the guys who brought us the Pocket Surfer, has just launched a netbook, the Datawind Ubisurfer Netbook.

The specifications on the Datawind Ubisurfer Netbook aren’t too impressive, with a 1GB SSD, 128 MB of RAM, a 7 inch screen with an 800 x 480 resolution, a built in microphone and speakers plus an SD card slot and 3 USB ports.

What is interesting about the Datawind Ubisurfer Netbook is that it comes with free Internet access, for £159.99 about $260.

Basically you get a total of 30 hours of free Internet access for a 12 month period after that you can add another 12 months of Internet access for £29.99 about $50.

On top of that you can choose an unlimited Internet plan for an additional £5.00 per month, plus it has reasonable roaming charges if you use it in Europe of just 5p per minute.

It is a shame the specifications aren’t better, I would have bought one of these for travelling as it costs me a small fortune whilst using my mobile broadband abroad.

Vacuum cleaners are usually pretty boring, well it seems that Toshiba and Electrolux have teamed up to produce a stylish looking vacuum cleaner, the Toshiba Escargot VC-Z100L Vacuum Cleaner.

As the name suggests, the design of the Escargot VC-Z100L was inspired by a snail, and in at 2.1kg about 4.6lbs, it has a 50 watt high suction powered motor and is designed to be ultra portable.

I know vacuum cleaners aren’t the usual type of gadget that we feature on geeky gadgets, but this ones does look pretty cool, it looks like they will only be available in Japan for around $113.

Why someone hasn’t thought of this idea before, I don’t know, the simplest ideas are always the best, the Split Ring Key.

The Split Ring Key is basically a key, with a key ring built in, and it is being sold as a blank key so you can take it to your locksmith and get it cut.

This is a brilliant idea, if you want one they are available for $7.00 each from Amron Experimental, and the company is also selling a 30% stake in the patent design, I can see some big key manufacturer or locksmiths buying into this as it is a great idea.

We have seen our fair share of annoying alarm clocks here at geeky gadgets, but I think this one may just be the most annoying so far, the Mosquito Alarm Clock.

Rather than being woken up to soothing music, or a loud alarm, when the alarm on the Mosquito Alarm Clock goes off it will sound like a buzzing mosquito ready to attack, this would definitely get me out of bed in the morning.

Getac has launched a new rugged notebook which they are claiming is the smallest and lightest business rugged notebook, the Getac 9213 Rugged Notebook.

The Getac 9213 Rugged Notebook comes with an Intel Core 2 Duo Penryn processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM with the option to upgrade to up to 3GB, it features a 13.3 inch WXGA LCD display, and a choice of either 160GB or 250GB SATA hard drive.

On top of that there is a 1.3 megapixel web camera, a memory card reader, Bluetooth, Ethernet, and optional 3G connectivity, it also has a built in fingerprint scanner.

The Getac 9213 Rugged Notebook features a magnesium alloy chassis and case and the HDD and LCD are shock mounted.

Prices start at $1,799 and it is available now from Getac.

The World’s Fastest Remote Controlled Car

We have seen quite a few remote controlled toys and gadgets here at geeky gadgets, but none as fast as this one, the World’s fastest remote controlled car.

The World’s fastest remote controlled car. was created by Nic Case, and it has just broken the World record, managing to travel at a massive 161 MPH.

The car features an 11 horsepower remote controlled motor and a 12 cell battery pack which would normally be found in remote controlled airplanes.

The case for the car was handmade from carbon fiber, and it was designed to be aerodynamic, and it features an all wheel drive system for increased traction.

I have to admit this is pretty impressive, if anyone finds a video of it in action let us know.
