From tall trees on slopes or in the forest valley, these people climb and risk their lives to harvest honey. Communities hand-in-hand with the Sumbawa Forest Honey Network (JMHS - Jaringan Madu Hutan Sumbawa), with assistance from the Indonesian Forest Honey Network (JMHI - Jaringan Madu Hutan Indonesia), have changed their methods of honey processing from a squeezing method to a filtering method to maintain the quality of the honey. On the harvesting side, they are practicing sustainable harvesting methods. Since then, buyer from all level of area and company recognize JMHS as a trusted source of high quality forest honey. At the regency level, the Regent proudly supports this effort to make forest honey as the icon for Sumbawa and Honey Day initiatives. Mereka tidak mendapat perlindungan apa apa dari pemerintah DKI dan harus bertahan karena bingung harus pindah kemana. Apa yang pemerintah DKI lakukan ini jelas sebuah pelanggaran HAM keras dan merupakan sebuah tindakan kejahatan atas nilai kemanusian yang juga menjadi dasar negara ini berdiri. Pemerintah semestinya WAJIB MENJAMIN dan MELINDUNGI HAK HIDUP seluruh warga negaranya tanpa terkecuali. Untuk itu, pemerintah DKI Jakarta harus bertanggung jawab atas seluruh pelanggaran HAM dan kejahatan yang telah terjadi di Taman BMW, serta segera memenuhi seluruh kebutuhan para korban baik tempat tinggal (papan), pangan, kesehatan, pendidikan, atau singkat nya seluruh kebutuhan dasar hidup para korban. The Social Development Department of the World Bank is taking the lead to build a greater understanding of how climate change affects people's lives and communities around the world, especially in developing countries, and of what can be done to reduce their vulnerability and build climate resilience. Transcript of the Call for Submission Video: English; Chinese; Español; Français Vulnerability Exposed: Social Dimensions of Climate Change is a competition of 2-5 minute documentaries that highlight the social aspects of climate change as experienced and/or observed by the film-makers. This short-documentary contest is a follow-up to our landmark March 2008 International Workshop on the Social Dimensions of Climate Change (read the story about the Workshop). We hope to receive submissions which creatively showcase the implications of climate change for conflict, migration, urban space, rural institutions, drylands, social policy, indigenous peoples, gender, governance, forests and/or human rights. There are two award categories: 1) Social Dimensions of Climate Change Award (general category) and 2) Young Voices of Climate Change Award (youth category). The general category is open to everyone; the youth category is open to entries submitted by filmmakers who are under 24 years old. Award winners will be chosen through a combination of public voting and a judging panel. The film with the most public votes in each theme category will receive honorable mention. The Award Winners will receive an all expenses paid trip to Washington, DC for a screening of their film and will have the opportunity to attend a series of networking and learning events organized by the Social Development Department of the World Bank in December, 2008. For us all who use it as an essential vehicle to share what we think, imagine, dream, know or believe we know, paper is a wonderful tool that we want to be able to continue using ... but not at the expense of people and the environment. As people who live in this reality, we are aware of the serious injustices and inequalities - social and environmental – arising from the world production and consumption of paper. In addition to the destruction of forests for making paper, now forests and grasslands are being replaced by vast monoculture tree plantations, destroying communities, water, soil and all life. Both the destruction of forests and the installation of monoculture tree plantations – occupying food-producing land – bring about enormous damage to the local population, who see their rights violated, their environment destroyed and their way of life irremediably affected. The destructive cycle is continued with pulp production, in which fewer and increasingly larger companies take possession of land where they plant trees, of water that their trees and mills consume and contaminate, of political power acquired through their billion dollar investments, and of the environment that they destroy in the regions where they are installed. To destruction are added inequities. The enormous volume of paper produced from this pulp feeds a “world market” centred on rich and powerful peoples’ consumption. The average figures (that hide enormous inequalities on a national level), show that consumption per capita is more than ten times higher in the countries of the North than in those of the South. To inequity is added excessive consumption. Only as an example it is enough to see the mountains of paper and cardboard growing night after night in the streets of New York to understand that most of the pulp production does not end up as books, newspapers or journals, but simply as trash. In general terms, at least half the pulp produced goes to the production of paper and cardboard for wrapping and packaging, most of it totally unnecessary. We do not want to have anything to do with paper produced in this way. We do not want to become accomplices to the social and environmental destruction this implies. We do not trust certification schemes that have given their seal of “sustainability” to these same monoculture plantations whose impacts we know so well. This situation has already reached intolerable limits and its solution requires policies discouraging unnecessary consumption, promoting a rational and socially appropriate use of paper, ensuring an equitable use among countries and within countries, facilitating the development of diversified models on a smaller scale for the production of pulp, respecting both people and the environment. The above is perfectly feasible and no technical limitations of any kind exist to prevent it from becoming a reality. The only and real obstacle is the economic interest of large companies, whose objective is to continue making profits by imposing an increasingly large and unlimited consumption of paper. The time has come to tell them that this is enough. We are therefore appealing to those, who like us want to be able to continue communicating through this marvellous material called paper, to join in this struggle for a socially and environmentally clean paper. This symposium widens the scope and pays special attention to concrete experiences from Africa, Asia, Latin America and South-Eastern Europe. E.g., it provides insights into: - Radio Work with Refugees in Tanzania; - World Migration Day Radio Campaign; - Media Integration Policies in Canada, Germany and the US; - Media Monitoring in South Africa; - Minority Media Assistance in (South-)Eastern Europe; - Communication Strategies of Burmese and Zimbabwean Exile Media; - Internet Sphere of Turkish and Russian Migrants in Germany. FFD sampai saat ini masih menjadi satu-satunya festival film khusus film dokumenter di Indonesia dengan kompetisi film dokumenter sebagai salah satu program utama, selain program-program pemutaran, diskusi, workshop, masterclass, schooldoc, dan lain-lain. Selama penyelenggaraannya, Kompetisi FFD telah diikuti lebih dari 300 filmmaker dari seluruh Indonesia, dengan para juri dari dalam dan luar negeri. Kompetisi FFD 2008 tampil dengan format baru yang diharapkan dapat semakin memajukan perkembangan film dokumenter di Indonesia, dengan kategori: LENGTH DOCUMENTARY(Kompetisi Film Panjang Dokumenter Indonesia), SHORT DOCUMENTARY(Kompetisi Film Pendek Dokumenter Indonesia), dan Kompetisi Film Dokumenter Pelajar. Kompetisi FFD terbuka untuk umum, tanpa biaya pendaftaran. Penerimaan karya akan dimulai 17 Juni sampai 30 Oktober 2008. Kompetisi FFD akan memilih masing-masing 10 film finalis untuk setiap kategori yang akan ditampilkan dalam puncak festival di bulan Desember. Para finalis juga berhak untuk ikut dalam program Master Class Film Dokumenter Indonesia atau program-program FFD yang lain. Sebagai salah satu standar minimum internasional untuk perlindungan, penghormatan dan pemenuhan HAM Masyarakat Adat, Deklarasi ini menegaskan hak-hak kolektif Masyarakat Adat untuk menentukan nasibsendiri,hak atas tanah, wilayah dan sumber daya alam, hak atas identitas budaya dan kekayaan intelektual, hak untuk menentukan keputusan bebas, didahulukan dan diinformasikan (free, prior and informed consent - FPIC), dan hak untuk menentukan model dan bentuk-bentuk pembangunan yang sesuai bagi mereka sendiri. Masyarakat Adat di Indonesia bersama-sama merayakan kemenangan ini sebagai kemenangan Masyarakat Adat se-dunia. Deklarasi ini akan menjadi instrumen penting untuk membangun kesadaran sosial secara lebih luas tentang Hak-Hak Masyarakat Adat, sekaligus mendorong Pemerintah untuk mencerna situasi Masyarakat Adat di Indonesia yang sudah lama menderita, mengalami diskriminasi dan marjinalisasi, serta terabaikan dari proses-proses keadilan. Deklarasi ini akan menjadi instrumen untuk memperkuat Hak-Hak Masyarakat Adat di Indonesia. Deklarasi PBB tentang Hak-Hak Masyarakat Adat ini telah diperjuangkan selama 23 tahun, sampai akhirnya disahkan oleh badan tertinggi PBB yakni Sidang Umum. Bagi Aliansi Masyarakat Adat Nusantara (AMAN), juga bagi organisasi-organisasi Masyarakat Adat lainnya dari seluruh dunia yang sudah berjuang di PBB, pengesahan Deklarasi ini merupakan tonggak bersejarah menuju perlindungan dan pemenuhan Hak-Hak Masyarakat Adat di dunia. Walaupun proses pembuatan draft dan pembahasan isi Deklarasi ini sudah dimulai tahun 1994, Kelompok Kerja Draft Deklarasi baru berhasil menyelesaikan tugasnya dan menyerahkan hasilnya ke Komisi PBB tentang HAM pada bulan Februari 2006. Pada tanggal 29 Juni 2006, dalam sidang pertama Dewan HAM PBB di Jenewa Deklarasi ini secara resmi diadopsi oleh Dewan HAM dengan suara mendukung 30 negara, abstein 12 negara dan tidak mendukung 2 negara (Kanada, Rusia). Deklarasi ini kemudian dibahas dan disahkan dalam Sidang Umum PBB di New York pada tanggal 13 September 2007 dengan suara mendukung 144 negara, abstein 11 negara dan tidak mendukung 4 negara (Kanada, AS, Australia, Selandia Baru), serta tidak hadir 30 negara. Indonesia adalah salah satu negara anggota PBB yang konsisten memberikan suara mendukung dan ikut menjadi penandatangan dalam pengesahan Deklarasi ini di Sidang Dewan HAM dan Sidang Umum PBB. Dalam perjalanan mencapai pengesahan tersebut, terjalin kerjasama dan pengertian yang lebih baik di negara-negara anggota PBB tentang apa yang menjadi aspirasi dan tuntutan Masyarakat Adat. Untuk Masyarakat Adat di Indonesia yang memiliki populasi 70-an juta jiwa, pengesahan Deklarasi PBB ini secara signifikan menandai : * Penegasan bahwa Masyarakat Adat memiliki hak-hak kolektif dan individu yang sejalan dengan Hukum Internasional Hak Asasi Manusia. * Terbangunnya standar minimum internasional bagi perlindungan, penghormatan dan pemenuhan Hak Asasi Masyarakat Adat dan kebebasan fundamental. * Adanya ukuran untuk menilai hukum, kebijakan dan program-program yang telah ada terkait dengan Masyarakat Adat, sehingga kemudian dapat membangun yang baru, di semua level dan arena. * Bahwa badan-badan, dana-dana dan program-program PBB di tingkat global, regional dan lokal akan mengacu pada Deklarasi ini, serta memastikan bahwa Deklarasi ini akan menjadi pedoman utama dalam pekerjaan-pekerjaan mereka yang berdampak pada Masyarakat Adat. * Bahwa Deklarasi ini merupakan Kerangka Kerja dan Dasar bagi kerja-kerja Permanent Forum PBB untuk Issue-Issue Masyarakat Adat. * Bahwa Deklarasi ini akan menjadi dasar bagi kemitraan antara MasyarPeringatan Hari Internasional Masyarakat Adat Se-Dunia 9 Agustus 2008 Jadikan Deklarasi PBB Tentang Hak-Hak Masyarakat Adat sebagai Dokumen Hidup, Dasar Pengakuan, Perlindungan dan Pemenuhan Hak-Hak...<br/> <br/> [[ This is a content summary only.
