by the way, how do you like our new logo? i {love}! our dear graphic-designer-friend {corianne} created it for us! for a long time now, our clients have been using {the gemmers} as our namesake, and we seem to have become a bit of a quirky adjective…..so, our new name will be {the gemmers}. you’ll still be able to reach us by typing in {gemmer photography} into any search engine or webpage, but you’ll cease to see that advertised. soon, you’ll be find us via www.thegemmers.com and www.thegemmersblog.com! {happy dance}

we’ll be blogging those recent photoshoots soon, but if you’re just dying to see them, their select albums are up on our website! since everything is being reworked at the new website, we’re a little behind on the blogging end of things. we promise this year will be rockin’ though!

for all of those sweet families wanting to schedule lifestyle sessions, we’ll soon have a calendar on our new website. when you see that, the highlighted dates are the dates that are still open. we’re scaling back at our workload to keep our quality & commitment super high….so, you’ll see we have limited availability! so, if you have an idea of when you want to schedule your session, the sooner the better {smile}!

♥the gemmers

1. this lovely darling was {under the weather} on her wedding day, so instead of stressing out, she enjoyed her wedding to the fullest, but allowed herself plenty of rest in between photographs.

2. she is a model. for real. and, so…well, it made for some stunning images that i’m {so} impressed & inspired by!

3. they are totally {mad-as-can-be} in love with each other! and…it’s truly a thing of beauty.

so, if you find yourself stressed by the day-of wedding schedule, or perhaps you felt {foggy} on your wedding day as well…worry not. you can document that {dreamy} and {giddy} look in a {day after} session!

later…i’ll break down the budget for this session! but for starters…we wanted to make this session really relevant. since the bride & groom are both musicians, and the bride had told me that she’d always {dreamed} of doing a photoshoot with a piano, i started searching around {portland} to see if i could make her dream come true! enter: {martha, dear} from {immortal piano} company! ah! she is a true wonder! a soulful woman, who treats her {lovely} vintage pianos with such care as if to a child! one day, i thought, ‘i’ll just go into this shoppe, and ask them if there is any way that this idea could ever become a reality. i’ll never know if i don’t ask’. so, i walked into her shoppe on a warm, sunny day on a whim. doing things on a {whim} always brings about the most lovely little surprises into my life. noted: i should do this more often. martha was simply divine! she understood my vision immediately, and knew that the poor sweet piano she had been working on that was sadly beyond repair would be a perfect fit! it was like entrusting something she loved & spent time trying to heal…to a home where she knew its’ last days would be purposeful…that would immortalize its’ {lovely} craftmanship in a tangible, lasting way. okay. a bit dramatic, i know. but, truly….that is {exactly} what it felt like. martha was so touched by this session & the thought of this piano having a home & artistic purpose, that she offered to move it to our home…to await the move to the photoshoot location! {martha-we love love love you!}

and…one last {extremely} important mention! first of all, when you’re feeling under the weather on your wedding day, you can imagine that some of that dream of being exactly how you are…how you’ve always been, but simply radiant and shining…{to just yourself} might seem a bit dim in comparison to feeling your best. we wanted to make sure that elizabeth felt most herself…most radiant, and simply stunning! i can honestly say that i was breath-taken. kellen eason created this gloriously full & rich hairstyle…accentuating elizabeth’s fiery red hair, and yet making her look other-worldly…dreamy & soft! {ah} i couldn’t get over it!! the guys from the moving company were lounging outside, waiting on us to pack up and drive to the location of this photoshoot, and seriously….when elizabeth walked down our steps….those men were at attention, and i think i can say that they thought she was {glowing}. and…she was. our {favorite} makeup artist {nadia kingston} of {nadia artistry} was simply inspirational in her art! elizabeth’s makeup turned out both soft & dramatic…with the feeling of being from another time…{gasps} seriously, i was just so impressed! and, what they did….made this sweet bride feel like the most {lovely} woman in the world! i was utterly touched by her words to me recently, after she had received these edited images:

so, i’m sure this {lovely} couple looks familiar, right?! their engagement session was the hiking shoot with that {darling} love tent {smile}!

we {heart} these two! they are so {head-over-heels} in love! it makes our job easy! so, i figured i’d start with one of my favorite images….

i {loooooooove} vintage rings! why would anyone want the same ‘ole ring every other girl in the world has, right? i’m not about the ‘bling’…just the aesthetic. and, it sure saves money, girls!! if you’re in town….check out {gilt} off of nw 23rd!  isn’t elizabeth’s ring {swoon-worthy}?  it’s that one right there↓ {smile}!

elizabeth’s grandmother lent her that pearl necklace…so {lovely}.

bet you’d never guess that elizabeth was sick, would you?! bless her heart! and her {stephen} doted on her like a proper husband even before they said {i do}! it was the most touching thing to watch! and…i must say, she simply {glowed} when he was around!

if you’re totally {swooning} over that side-veil….then you must know that her incredibly talented sister made that for her!!! sooooo {lovely}!

↑ when i was editing that image on the above left, i noticed that the leaves in the bokeh made a perfect heart above them….so, i decided to get a little creative…i kind of {love} it! {smile} what do you think?!

elizabeth’s sister also took care of her flowers and bouquets! i, for one, was totally impressed! if you want her name and contact information, you ladies who are planning weddings right now, just let me know!!! she worked some vintage magic with her flower arrangements!!! and…i {love} the feather in the boutonniere! ↓

good-looking group of men, eh?? {smile}! this one ↓ is my {favvvvvvvvorite}!!!!

these ladies all look like models! ah!!! {gorgeous}!

again…the masterpieces you’ll see at the reception including decor, style, and arrangement were courtesy of elizabeth’s sister again! sheesh!! she’s amazing, right?! i’d {love} to work with her in the future! in any case, i was totally in love with their {theme}…a country vintage ho-down reception!! oh.my.goodness! all the bluegrass music playing was either on my ipod on in my itunes wishlist! {smile}! i’m just that type of girl! they had corndogs, popcorn, and other autumn treats for their guests to eat! and….it was {so} interesting to see, but nearly {all} of her guests were in {ho-down} clothes…flannel, plaid, jeans, braids, soooooo cute!

also, they’re a bit of an artsy couple, so they gave their guests all the opportunity to draw and color on their tables! the guests were clever and wrote on sweet messages, or drew pictures for them with well-wishes on the side….even the kids got involved! and….my favorite part is that they toasted with {doughnuts}! not just any kind of doughnuts….some sort of {so-delicious-that-my-face-almost-fell-off-kind-of-delicious-doughnut}!!!! the bride and groom played this game (which i’ve never seen before….kudos for making your wedding your own, libby & stephen…when your photographer is inspired, you’ll always get amazing shots!) where they couldn’t use their hands, but had to see who could finish eating their doughnut first! {so} fun to watch!! kind of like bobbing for apples, but different {smile}! stephen won {smile}! they were so playful and sweet!! and, then the wedding party did the same thing! {love} those photographs!!

okay…enough about me raving…you’ll {love} this wedding for sure!!

okay…had to stop you again {smile}! but, seriously….{love} that they decorated with family-owned vintage quilts all over their reception hall….and did you notice those pies!? they had a silent pie auction that would go towards their honeymoon! how creative, right?! i {love} that idea!

absolutely {dying-with-love} over this garland!! it was made with the fabric squares you see on a ring at a furniture store! i believe her sister picked up some of their old, outdated styles, and just folded them over twine!! how clever that girl is!! i love, love, love it!

that little {dear}, and her father were {sooooo} sweet! couldn’t help myself but post this photograph in the lineup of all the other amazing wedding photographs! i just love it that much!! that little baby stole my heart a bit! {smile}!

and, it wouldn’t be a country vintage ho-down kind of wedding if they didn’t do a ho-down, right?! {smile}! they had someone come and teach the guests to do a traditional ho-down; kind of like a type of square-dance! {sooooooo} much fun!
