What were you expecting? A nice cuddly new page? Not sure if even the best freerunner can outrun a bullet.

Recently I just finished a few games on my Kindle Fire.
Majesty: The Fantasy (fun port of an old real-time strategy).

And the RPG Symphony of Eternity. It’s a fun move-based Japanese Role-playing game. The fights can get boring after you’ve killed them 1000 times but I kept switching my characters and focus to build up their stats. That adds some fun when you go dungeon killing. I did a few of the extra battles after completing the games (once complete you open up new doors) but decided to stop and start a new JRPG instead.

I have also been playing Sentinel 3: Homeworld, another real-time strategy; but I lost my saved games so now I have to start over. It’s a fun sci-fi game so I don’t mind really.

All of the games were fun and cheap, my two highest criteria.

By accident, Connor’s desire for Samantha Chase saved the brothers. But will Connor and Sidney be able to stay alive by lust alone? I’m not even sure myself.

This week I’ve been trying to setup a better Gene Gardens mobile option. But since I’m using Comicpress theme with WordPress, can anyone recommend any good mobile plug-ins that won’t cost me $10+ a month? The monthly fees can kill it for me since I’ve got a few sites. That $10 adds up fast, and there isn’t any money coming in yet to the webcomic. Add that to all the other costs and it could break the bank.

I’m using a trial on http://www.daddysgirlscomic.com for mobo but after a year it also costs $10 a month so that can’t last.

I’m thinking about doing some video reviews on the various tools used to create comics but is anyone interested?

I hope you’re enjoying the story so far. If there is one rule about Gene Gardens, there are no rules. Or should I say, there are no rules that can’t be broken.

This week I’ve found a new pen by Noodler’s Ink. It’s called the Ahab Flex. Very cool pen. It’s a $20 fountain pen with a flex nib. It doesn’t use regular india ink like some of my other special fountain pens for cartooning, but those have leaking issues. I’m hoping this will work well enough for my traveling and cartooning.

Until next week when I try to find more characters to kill…

Man…I’m still coughing. This virus has left my family with cabin fever. I think we’re going to go bat crazy when we’re finally all well. I cannot wait.

One of my favorite creator (writer/artist) is Terry Moore. I first heard about him while I was editing Mat Nastos’ Bite Me, Fanboy film. I hadn’t been actively reading comics in the mid-late 90′s so I totally missed the Strangers In Paradise fever.
I didn’t get back into comic books heavily until about 2003-04, so it took a bit of catching up. After picking up the first hardcover collection I fell in love with Terry’s art. Just beautiful. Reminds me a little of another favorite of mine, Jamie Hernandez from Love & Rockets fame. I have tried some of the Marvel books that he wrote, but it’s just not the same. I like Terry when he’s writer and artist. Now they’ve just released the complete gigantic volume of ECHO by Terry Moore. Totally worth the few bucks that it costs. You could kill someone with this huge book.

Hope you’re enjoying Gene Gardens so far. The roller-coaster ride has started so strap in and keep your hands inside. You don’t want them to get cut off on the way down.

Thanks for hanging in there. I’ve been working to get my slice-of-life humor strip http://www.daddysgirlscomic.com up and running. It’s over 50 strips now but I feel like it’s just getting started. Since Gene Gardens is Wednesday update (and as much as I can get done in a week), I’ll be doing Daddy’s Girls on the other days. Hoping to have Mon, Tues, Thurs, and Friday updates.

I’m scripting the next chapter of Gene Gardens but going back to all my original scripts to make sure I don’t leave any threads hanging. And boy…are there some threads coming. Shocked myself. I hope you like everything that is coming up and what I have planned. I appreciate each and every comment. Even some of the spam comments are pretty funny…keep em coming.

Some books I’m looking forward to…

Have you read The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins? The book didn’t strike me as something that would interest me, but the movie trailer does look good.

I’d love to hear some reviews of what you think. As you can tell with Gene Gardens, I’m a huge fan of science fiction that could come true and based on today’s knowledge of what is possible.
