There are many reasons I want to blog about church history. There are many more reasons we must know church history and I pray in good time we might take a examine them together.

However if I am to have a church history blog I must blog so today I make a start of it, with a brief squib about the day.

July 29th, 2008

July 29th 2008 is the 441st anniversary of the coronation of James the VI of Scotland. 441 years ago the “Great Tyrant and Pervert” gained his throne and began to have his fill of folly as it were.

James Stewart is an interesting character study for the student of church history, he was a pivotal figure in the history of England, the Reformation and set the stage for the English Civil War and the great Oliver Cromwell.

So on the anniversary of James coronation I point you to two of messages from Joe Morecraft to acquaint you with the man behind the Authorized Version of the Bible, the “Great Tyrant and Pervert” of the English Reformation.
