Balik Pulau Township

Balik Pulau is one of the oldest township in Penang. It was founded long time ago and I am not sure with the history there. Last time, Balik Pulau people used to say it was very very far from town and even I live at Bayan Lepas, my grandma also said that Balik Pulau is far! But since now the transportation was improved, I feel that Balik Pulau is not far from my house anymore.

I went to Balik Pulau recently by the bus 401 for FREE! Why FREE because I had subscribed the Rapid Bus prepaid card for RM35/month. It's a worth one and you can travel unlimited in the Penang Island. There are Balik Pulau New Town which near the Balik Pulau Rapid Bus Terminal.

At Balik Pulau there are two chinese schools, one is Chong Teik Primary School and another is Sacret Heart High School. Both schools are quite near and just need to walk around 5 minutes can reach each other. Chong Teik Primary School is quite large and it's a standard size for primary students, good enough to have various activities there! Whereas for Sacred Heart is a bit small if for secondary school, the space is not really sufficient for those students!

There are Balik Pulau old town, it's only a few distance away from the Bus Terminal. I walked there and search for the famous Laksa, but it was too bad the business had ended. So end up walked around the old town and snapped some photos.

I was walking around the old town of Balik Pulau. The special one at there was the car park is at the middle of the road and it seems to be created a virtual road divider. This type of road arrangement is some sort similar like Ipoh Old Town.

When you first arrived at Balik Pulau Old Town, you will see a pretty small roundabout before you enter to the Balik Pulau new township. Turn left you can go Sungai Pinang, a place which under the district of Balik Pulau. While you straight forward can go to Balik Pulau new township or the way back to Air Itam and also go to Pondok Upeh. Balik Pulau is not a hill side, it is just like a valley which you need to travel before you can reach there!

Moo Cow Frozen Yogurt

Nowadays Malaysians are getting crazy about the desserts from Taiwan or anywhere else. This year I can say the food trend were leading by the bubble teas or frozen yogurt. More and more frozen yogurt stores opening in nationwide! Mostly was started in KL and keep on spreading the outlets to Penang, Ipoh or Johor Bahru!

Moo Cow Frozen Yogurt was founded from Malaysia I think! Hmm... It was like Tutti Frutti, Kiwi Berry or Fruuze which served the customer frozen yogurt. Frozen Yogurt is now a trend of having healthy desserts compare to tea or coffee. It was made up from the fruit yogurt and it taste nice which frozen with the ice, just like ice cream!

The interior design of the shop was so unique and nice! It was like staying at the farm. Even the tables and chairs are also designed from the concept of farm cow! The whole shop mostly designed with the brown wood and match with the unique lighting! They used the cute farming pictures as the background in shop so I can say that this shop design concept can be compared with Charlie Brown's Cafe which located in Straits Quay!

I feel that the frozen yogurt in Moo Cow is more worth compare to Kiwi Berry or Tutti Frutti. Since the price of having a standard size of frozen yogurt had fixed at RM 9.90 / RM 10.90, if you add any topping just have to top up RM 1.00 for each topping. It doesn't depend on weighing and the toppings that they served were quite a lot and tasty!

I was there having some cam whoring photos as requested by my friends. I feel quite weird and funny when taking those photos! I was like the desserts recommend person recently. I had introduced Kiwi Berry, Chatime, La Kaffa, 6Celcious and yet so far in my previous blog post! So now this is Moo Cow's turn! xD I didn't consider any earnings from there, just like volunteer helping only!

We were having some chit chat there while enjoying the frozen yogurt! Some of my friends were doing some funny action in the shop and captured some photos as the souvenir! Cool. Lastly we had the group photos together before we leave the shop! Moo Cow I like it...

Yes it's Moo Cow. There are some description about Moo Cow and how frozen yogurt develop in our country Malaysia! Moo Cow had developed well in Malaysia as now they already have the 10 outlets in KL and Penang, I believe soon they will spread out until nationwide in Malaysia! Farewell Gathering May 2012

The month of May is the farewell month for us. Most of the previous SPM 2011 candidates just like me already started the college life or sixth form life to continue in our further studies. Last Saturday I attended my friend You Loong, Ze Heng and Yee Shin's farewell. Three of them are going to leave us for outstation to continue their studies.

We met everyone at New World Park and had the farewell dinner at Mizi Bistro. Guys and girls around 10 persons were gathered at there, having dinner, chit chatting, playing together for the last time. Quite fun when get the chance to meet back my previous friends and share the previous moments together! I very appreciate the farewell dinner that organized by Missyanda. Thanks!

#1 You Loong and Ze Heng both were my classmates on last year in 5SB4. They were my good friends since I was in Form 1. The good brothers that I can say! You Loong is leaving to Negeri Sembilan on 28th May to continue his studies on Matriculation Program whereas Ze Heng is leaving to Kampar, Perak on 20th May to continue his studies in University Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR). So I wish all the best to both of them! =)

We were playing the game of "Be socializing while having dinner" which means put everyone phones on the table and restricted anyone to touch his/her phone, if he/she do so he/she is going to pay for the dinner! Pretty cool right? But at last everyone won, because nobody was touching his/her phone, we were enjoying chit chat with each others!

Some food that I ordered that night. Sorry for the blur pictures! I had ordered a set meal which cost only RM 25 and you can get a mushroom soup, course meal which is some sort like fried fish with the special sauce, too bad I already forgotten what is the name and also the free flow of ice cream with one drink. Quite worth it and the set meal can really served you into full!

Before we left each other, we had the photos shooting at the restaurant. The photos effect not very nice because there was not enough of brightness for my camera! Too bad.

The better version from my friend YouLoong. We are always the big group family! The best friends forever!

After the dinner, we went to Gurney Paragon for some desserts! It was Saturday night and the Gurney Drive was crowded with people and vehicles. I also made my first time being at Gurney Paragon at night, I was so surprised and glad to see the night view at Gurney Paragon! It was like a open stage for the LIVE band to perform at the centre whereas those audiences can simply sit down and witness for the performances! Cool, it was like Penang Times Square!

We had the Moo Cow Frozen Yogurt there and enjoying the photo session inside the Moo Cow outlet too. It was cool condition inside and the shop design was unique and nice! I will blog more about it in the following blog post! Stay tuned. Posted by GenYong 19.05.2012

A Wonderful Teluk Bahang Trip

It was happened on last Friday also, cool I wondered how come last Friday I was so active in outing! Hahaa. However I need to thank you Rapid Penang for providing me the opportunity to travel Teluk Bahang for my first time there! I went to Teluk Bahang after my Gurney Plaza random shopping, it was the hot afternoon which sun shines brightly on the sky!

It takes up me about 2 hours of time to travel there. But from Gurney Plaza to there which I hop on the bus 101 it takes me 30 minutes to reach the national park at Teluk Bahang. On the road I was sitting on the bus and enjoy looking on the nice scenery of seaview! As well I took photos along my trip to Teluk Bahang.

Yes that's me on the bus! My expression was weird due to the hot weather and the sun shines brightly to my face! Along the trip to Teluk Bahang, there was a lot crooked road to Batu Ferringhi. It was quite exciting when sitting on the bus, seems like sitting on roller coaster! xD Along the way to Teluk Bahang, I had travel along those hotels in Batu Ferringhi such as Lone Pine, Golden Sands, Hard Rock, Park Royal and many more!

Yes here I come! Finally I had arrived at Teluk Bahang National Park. The bus stopped in front of the entrance and the driver showed me the way to National Park. It was free of charge and I just have some random visit to the seaside. I like the sea jetty there which built by the fishermen there! It looks pretty cool.

These are some random shots before I walked on the jetty and out to the sea. The scenery there was so nice and of course the seaside there was clean and fresh. The sea water was much better compare to Gurney Drive or Queensbay... It looks so clear and clean. Really a nice place!

Yup! I was standing on the jetty which covered to the front part of the sea. The feeling was so cool when I was standing on top of the sea and looking around. I was very careful and take care of my belongings to prevent any of them fall into sea!

A nice scenery view there. It's a long distance from the seaside to the end of the jetty, I didn't walk until the end because I was afraid. I was not confirm whether the structure of jetty is stable or not, if not stable I will fall into sea then! xD. There were a lot of fisherman ships or fish boats there. I think this is also a place for all the fishermen in Teluk Bahang to gather!

I missed the beautiful scenery there. It's a good place to have the portrait shot there too, especially for those couples who are planning to have a series of couple shots. Nice and Natural! I was first time there and really get attracted by the beautiful scenery, it's located at the top north of Penang Island!

After visited the National Park, I walked out from there which is the Teluk Bahang fishing village. All the residents there were friendly to guide those tourists in visiting their place and also sent us the warm welcome. The road there was straight and low traffic, it's a nice and peace place to stay and visit!

Before I leave that place, I took some memorable photos to show that I been there before! However, it's really a nice place and you can put yourself in natural if you're living there! I hope one day I can own myself a house near Teluk Bahang so I can always visit to Penang National Park! =)

it's by the sea, coming soon in this year! It's located at Batu Ferringhi which plays the role to become a luxury seaside resort too. Will check it out when it is open! 6Celcious Tea and Snacks

From previous post, I had mentioned about the 6Celcious tea right? Here is the some introduction about this brand! 6Celcious was found in Malaysia I think it's from KL but until now I just saw it opened in Penang Gurney Plaza. 6Celcious served drinks such like tea, coffee and also snacks, it is a good place to have tea time!

I visited 6Celcious last Friday while I was walking around in Gurney Plaza. This store is located at the 6th floor of Gurney Plaza which sharing the same floor with Big Apple Donuts, Subway, CoolBlog and Old Town. The concept store is not big but it can be the comfortable place for you to have the good tea time!

What's the special one can be found in 6Celcious? Since I was first time visit, I had chosen the original brand from 6 Celcious. That was the Cincau Roasted Milk Tea. Cincau means Grass Jelly in some other tea outlets such as Chatime... Well, the drink taste nice and special because it contains of the icy stuffs which like a ice ball inside the drink!

The concept store's design was so cool and fully coloured with the theme of purple and pink. Looks similar like Chatime's concept. Anyway, inside the store there were a lot of privileges for students, workers in Gurney Plaza or office workers. Which means student with student card can get 10% discount from the drinks, office workers can get the FREE Delivery drinks and many more!

When you get bored of drinking Chatime, actually you can change the taste to 6Celcious and try out their special one! There is a drinks ranking for your reference! The first one is the most popular one and it taste nice! I can rate it as 7/10 and it was only cost me RM 5.90 for regular size + 10% discount so total only RM 5.30! Worth it... Now you can check out their deals about the set which teas come with snacks too!

Drinks in Gurney Plaza

Yo guys, I think I had settle down from my working life and started my study life again in college! College life was fun and I really can enjoy the moments of study! For the 1st semester, my college Friday does not have classes unless there are any replacement. So I was back to my secondary school Chung Ling High School to take a look and meet up my previous friends who studied in Form 6 as I posted on previous post!

After that I went to Gurney Plaza just for random movie but too bad my friend suddenly got things to do so I just cancelled it. So what I do in Gurney Plaza? Just hang out around, walk around for nothing! xD. I went to visit my previous colleagues in Chatime, chit chatting with them for nearly an hour. Cool!

As I took my camera along I will snap here and there, so I just walked around at Gurney Plaza and checked out their retailers shops. I found that Gurney Plaza seems to be more interesting than Queensbay Mall. The management of Gurney Plaza was good and they keep on maintaining the shopping mall and attract a lot of shoppers shop at there!

In Gurney Plaza there was a lot of desserts stores such as Chatime, ShareTea, 6Celcious, Meet Fresh, CoolBlog and many more... This few years the trend had changed from donuts to bubble tea and even to frozen yogurt now! Well, nowadays people used to spend up more to get dessert after a meal. New Look in Chung Ling

Hello everyone, I am back and I hope I can update my blog more frequently starting from now! Anyway, college life is really a big different from high school life! What's that differences? High School life was full of laughters, fun, noise and many more... High School we used to be naughty, hanged out around and so on made funny actions in school compound. These were all become the previous memories...

Last Friday I had visited back to my secondary school Chung Ling High School. Everything there had changed, changed to be more high standard in facilities, outlook and many things! It suits to be the international institution now! Really a good one.

From the new outlook, I get attracted to visit back my previous school. Somebody in early of the year still sharing on facebook said that Chung Ling High School is really a "Clean" school, why clean? Because yellow in Malaysia nowadays already become the famous "Bersih 2.0" theme colour. It was cool!

I was glad to see that the new school board of directors spent a lot of money on upgrading the school facilities. Although we no longer studying there, our hope is for our school can be better and nicer! The environment inside the school has improved a lot since last year. More trees growing, more facilities to use, more teachers and students studying there! That's the ChungLing big family! =)

Overall I can say that my high school had turned to be more awesome than last time! When I came to in front of the school hall, guess what I saw? I saw a unique things for both in front of the school hall. After I heard from my friend said those are the Feng Shui stuffs in order to make ChungLing turn more rich. Vogue for Virtue 2012

Vogue for Virtue is the annual event for Queensbay Mall during the month of April. V is the theme! This event was also known as a charity fashion show that open to all the Malaysian especially Penangites to have their chance participating in modeling contest. This was also a major event for Queensbay Mall, every year the same place that's happening there!

On 21st April 2012, there was a charity fashion show took place in the Central Zone of Queensbay Mall! There were a few Malaysia popular celebrities like Amber Chia, Carmen Soo, Steve Yap, Hanson Lee and many more. From my opinion I think this charity fashion show is the way to show out the love or caring we had to the community and also to those who need!

Besides that there were some model search auditions which provided the platform for Penang handsome boys or pretty girls to perform themselves in modeling contest. From that on, they did the brands modeling fashion show on that day. Quite a number of retailing brands had sponsored in this event such as Jefferson, Poh Kong, Mirror, Padini, Springfield and many more!

I went to witness the show while I was having break time. When I was there the show is almost ended and it's the time to announce for winners. They whole central zone of Queensbay Mall were crowded of people since that day was also a Sunday, everyone came out and shopping! I would like to congratulate the winner for both categories which is male and female category!

Malaysia Popular Model Celebrities Amber Chia was there announced the winner for male category and given the award to the winner! I don't know his name but he was so handsome and many girls were mad on looking him and keep on screaming! The atmosphere there was quite high and everyone cheers when the winner has been announced!

At last before the ceremony ended, every participants had come out to show the congratulations to both winners of the year. Every participants were dressing nice and no wonder the judges said that it was hard to decide who is the winner. Although the winners has announced, every participants was showing their fully support to both winners and some of them promised to come back and participate in next year!

Yes, the group photo of the day! All the model search contestants had come out to have the group photo. In the event you could see there were a lot of pro photographers holding their DSLR with the multiple zoom lens and some cool gadgets. I was just standing at the back and snapped some random photos that's quite enough for myself! =) At least I can get something for my blog post.

After the event had ended, everyone grabs the chance to have a photo with Amber Chia. I didn't get involved in it and was just looking them for the photos. So as well, I just did some random shots on Amber Chia. I can say that Amber Chia is still looking young although she already had one son! Cadbury Chocolate Fair @ Queensbay Mall

This was happened long time ago, around 1 month I think. Cadbury Chocolate is a well known chocolate in Malaysia which themed in purple colour. I like chocolates and I was glad to see that this chocolate had happened in Queensbay Mall. This was happened while I was working at Chatime last month! Let's take a look on the chocolate fair and see what's special inside.

Cadbury chocolate themed the exhibition as Share The Happiness which encourage more consumers living in happiness via eating their chocolates. I like the design of the overall exhibition site, especially the chocolate tree and also the flying airplane in the middle of the hall. It really bring much happiness for everyone of course included me!

I think this exhibition was prepared with a lot of efforts from the organizer. It's really a big project to set up the exhibition site, besides the chocolate trees, flying airplane, there were also a chocolate fountain, cadbury mascot, games section, projection screening and many more... It was like a chocolate wonderland!

I was glad to have the chance took photos with the cadbury mascot... The mascot was so cute and attractive, there was many children grabbing the chance to take photos with it!

The organizer also provided some family games for those family to participate on it and also some games for children like customizing their own chocolate, taking photos in the cadbury wonderland or tasting for the fruit chocolate instantly at the exhibition site. I went there while I was having break time and bought some chocolates back to Chatime and taste it too! This Cadbury Chocolate Fair really awesome, I like it... do you like chocolates? The new journey begins

Yo guys and all my favorable blog readers, how are you lately? Sorry for not updating my blog for around a month of time! Why I no blog for a month? Some facts were I was busy with my job in Chatime, and also nothing special to blog about too! Soon and soon it turns me become more and more lazy! Now, I had enroll myself in PSDC to continue my tertiary education so I think I need to spend some time and revive my blog again! =)

Yes my new beginning of journey! That's my college life, PSDC here I come! I am going to the School2Work... Joining them for the Diploma of Engineering course, I am taking Mechatronics Engineering for my course.

This is my student ID... my name and my group! I am the 21st batch student in PSDC which attended in April intake. As well as I am also the last one in my group according to the alphabetically order, but doesn't matter I used to it while I was in primary and secondary... xD this is my special name! I love it.

Everyone was sitting and ready for the orientation briefing in the auditorium hall. I like the campus because it was green enough and it's pretty cool... All the lecturers there were friendly and keen to help us! The campus environment is nice and green, of course I love it very much! =)

PSDC! I will be here starting from now until September 2014. I hope that in the 2.5 years, I can achieve my dream towards the success! I give myself a target to do well in college and also learn as much as I can in PSDC! =) Posted by GenYong 03.05.2012

it's La Kaffa Ipoh

La Kaffa coffee is a well known coffee like Starbucks or Coffee Bean that originated from Taiwan. It was manufactured by the La Kaffa International which founded in the year 2004 starting with the brand of Chatime. I think everyone knows Chatime of course in Malaysia, but for La Kaffa that's still strange to most Malaysians.

By the way, La Kaffa is 80% focusing on coffee whereas 20% on tea which directly inverse with Chatime! Recently in the month of March, my boss had opened a new kiosk concept outlet at Ipoh which was also the 2nd outlet in Malaysia. Coming soon in the month of May, there will have another outlet in Penang too! Hints for you... Queensbay Mall!

This is the view of La Kaffa coffee kiosk in AEON Station 18, Ipoh. It was nice and the working place for us were quite suitable. It was located near the Popular Bookstore and also nearby the AEON departmental store at the 1st floor.

Here are some photos about the brand of La Kaffa in AEON Station 18, Ipoh. The top 6 brand recommend were Tiramisu Late, Quartet Iced Coffee, Sea Salt Coffee, Oreo Cocoa Frappe, Strawberry Smoothie and also Earl Grey Pearl Milk Tea. Especially Quartet Iced Coffee, it required a lot of steps making it. The sea salt series such as Sea Salt Coffee and Sea Salt Rose are the special one in Malaysia!

This is the menu for La Kaffa coffee.. they are divided into 7 categories such as Hot Coffee, Sea Salt Coffee, Frappe Series, Iced Coffee, Latte Coffee, Double Chocolate and also the Fresh Iced Tea series... In the iced tea series, I was specially recommended the white grape iced tea and also the mulberry iced tea, both of them are the best taste among all the iced tea...

Here are some gadgets to make a better coffee, La Kaffa. The water boiling machine by the Freser together with the coffee holders to make out the fresh coffee straight from the La Kaffa coffee bean. As I know that coffee bean are mostly imported from Brazil or Italy. We are using the Italy one, for the type of coffee I think it should be the arabica one... not sure with that!

A cup of cappucino that we done for ourselves... not really nice but just for fun! Making a nice coffee is so cool and fun... so are you interested to become a coffee barista too??

Chatime, Queensbay Mall

I had worked at Chatime, Queensbay Mall for one month and a few days since 2nd February 2012. I was glad to work there and now was like addicted on the tea there! Chatime is a well known international bubble tea brand from Taiwan. It was started from Taiwan and franchise over 10 countries such as Australia, Philipines, USA, Thailand, Hong Kong, China and many more places!

I am working at Chatime, Queensbay Mall which was the 2nd outlet in Malaysia that opened on December 2010. Many people thought that all Chatime in Malaysia was under the same boss, but actually it doesn't means that. For Queensbay Mall and Gurney Plaza one were under my boss and directly franchise from Taiwan! So it was some sort different from Chatime Malaysia.

Previously on 8th March 2012, we had worked on the 350 cups of drinks to delivery based on the orders from Dell Asia Pacific company for their functions. It was pretty cool to do all the 350 cups in a few hours time. It was fun and exciting but yet also tiring after that! I was glad to work there and enjoy the working moments until the end of April! Foyi Camp 2011

Hello everyone, I was so missed all of you here! Recently I was quite busy and packed with my working life. Well, today I off from the work and having my car practical, I can drive soon! =) Anyway, today let me review back December moments that I had in Foyi Camp.

Foyi Camp actually was organized by Penang Foyi Association which is one of the buddhist association in the town! I knew this association through my Leo Club previously and I had involved myself in few activities that organized by them! Their activities were awesome and yet I could learn many things from there too!

Foyi Children Camp was organized to the 13th, means 13 years already! It will happen on the end of year middle of the December. The camp are welcoming the children 9-12 years old to join with us, learn with us about the knowledge of buddha!

All the children were having their first lunch at there! See how they eat politely and before that they will pray and greet the words before they starting eating! Cool. All the children were quite good and of course they were friendly and active involving in every activities!

This camp last for 3 days 2 nights, I was there involving as the volunteer instructor to take care of the children! I still remember my team was the No.4 team and our team name called 孝敬礼仪 which means we have to respect everyone and being polite in the community!

There in the evening, all the children were lining up and wait for their turns to bath. Well, I really respect on them because the toilet was not really nice to have bath! I can't stand for the smell, but no choice because this is the primary school! 3 days there still okay la! =)

On the Day 2, the organizer were arranging everyone having the group photo! This year the T shirt was matching Blue and Purple, instructors were all Purple whereas the participants were all light blue! All the children there were so cute and friendly! Quite fun spending my 3 days with them!

Here come to the last night of the camp! It's the wonderful night and also the performances night for all the participants. Well, as the instructors like us also involved in teaching them for dancing, acting or singing and at last performing with them also! That night, all the parents were welcomed by the organizer to witness their kids' performances! I liked that night very much and it was really fun, full of laughters and sweats too! =)

For the end of the night, we were having the group photo for each group with all the participants. Here come to the end of our job and also the last night of the camp. It was quite fun for 3 days camp and I learnt a lot of skills on solving the problems, get rid with all the kids around! =)

Here come the Day 3 and also the last day for all the kids here! Everyone was going to say goodbye and going home soon! There you can see everyone was busy taking signatures from us and of course the big boss Chin Lai, he was the camp captain!

Everyone was there sitting on the floor waiting for the closing ceremony to be completed! The last chance singing the camp song, last chance hearing Eric's voice (the MC), last chance to talk with us and many more.. But I hope that next year I could join this camp again and being an instructor again to have fun with all the kids there! MYAstro CNY Carnival 2012 (Penang)

On 30th January 2012, I had visited to Khoo Kongsi. During Chinese New Year visit to heritage sites anything? Actually my KL aunt had requested me to buy the MyAstro Happy Dragon stuffs for them. I went there by rapid bus in the earlier morning and arrived there around 9am. When I was there, the queue line was quite long outside the Khoo Kongsi.

Everyone was lining up outside the Khoo clan, outside means just beside the road. I was quite familiar with the place because I was always been there in the year of 2009 when I was involved in the Heritage Heboh program by Anak-anak Kota. Wait there around few hours to get into the building until the event started on 12pm.

That time around 10am the astro company workers had arrived to the place, everyone was standing in the position and continue lining up in the entrance of the Khoo Clan. I am the 50th person on that time, can't believe that I can get 50th out of 288 persons. Cool! Most of the people lining up there were adults who haven't back to work after the spring holidays, I seldom saw any students skipped the school and lining up to buy the Happy Dragon stuffs!

Inside the Khoo Kongsi, everything had ready with the exhibition booths, games booth and even the stage also decorated with banners and Happy Dragon. It was so awesome and efficient to those people working on this after the CNY Cultural Celebration had just happened on the passed night. There were so tidy and neat! Nice one.

There was quite a lot of early birds came to line up to get themselves for buying the limited edition happy dragon stuffs too. For this carnival, Penang was the last stop for the Astro team so everyone was here rushing to buy the limited edition stuffs back! I was the one too, but I was not buying for myself, it's for my cousins! Lining up under the hot sun was quite tough, luckily I brought along my cap! There you can see even aunties uncles also came to line up for buying those stuffs!'

Before the crowds start buying for the T shirts and Happy Dragon Mascot, the officers had walked around to show us the sizes of the T shirts and of course they distributed the tickets coupons for everyone. So that means each person can just buy once for one item. Somehow I cooperate with the people there call somebody to buy the shirt for me since he only want to buy the mascot. That's the way!

Both mother and daughter were looking for the size of T shirt and deciding which size to take. You know why? Once you had make the decision, no change were allowed on that moments, so no regrets! That day there were two sizes available for adults, S and M sizes only. There was the tickets that I get from the officers, so once you get this tickets you can't even lost it, because they were based on this tickets to sell you those stuffs!

Lining up under the hot sun for hours was so tough, but for the purpose to buy those stuffs! I had overcome the toughness. Anyway, I had spent over RM 100 to buy those stuffs for my cousins. Cool, 3 shirts each cost RM25, 2 mascots each cost RM 28.80. Only in the morning, Astro can earn over RM 15K as my calculation! However, there was quite lot games prepared for everyone and of course together with the plenty of prizes waiting people to win! The Gurney New Spot

Here I coming back from work, today I am getting the day off. Recently when I was day off, I had visited to the Penang mot crowded places that's Gurney Drive. I went there for no purpose, just some simple visiting and do some windows shopping and meeting some friends there!

Well, as you know Gurney Drive had added a new member besides G Hotel or Gurney Plaza. The new member is Gurney Paragon which officially opened on 16th January 2012 by the Hunza Group Chairman together with the Penang Chief Minister. This building was actually renovated from the old heritage building calling St. Jo's. I will blog more about this in the following blog post!

Anyway, Gurney Plaza still is the best shopping hotspot in Penang! Every weekends you will see the crowds there and also the traffic there were so congested! Sometimes there will have a lot of signature events like Star Concerts, Exhibition Fair and many more featured events there! Gurney Plaza is now slightly renovated with the new look inside and outside too! 5th and 6th floor was having the new tenants which mostly food outlets, such as OldTown, Subway, CoolBlog, 6Celcius and many more.

I am now working at Chatime Queensbay Mall, tell you something here. The Chatime Queensbay Mall and Gurney Plaza were managed by the same boss, that's my boss! So next time if you feeling there are some deals promotions from Chatime Malaysia were not available at this both outlets. I love Chatime very much since I went KL and get recommended by my cousins. Guang Ming Daily CNY Celebrations P2

Continue from previous blog post, Guang Ming Daily CNY Celebrations really awesome! There was also having the local chinese food like hakka, hokkien or cantonese traditional food. Since it was CNY, many people took the chance to taste on the different kind of food!

Besides that, there were selling a lot of stuffs too. Like cosmetics items, unique artistic small stuffs, souvenirs and some CNY items too. Those booths were suborganized by the Kaka arts workshop, a community arts association which famous in KL. I think this was a good way to show people more about Malaysia local arts.

There was a paper cutting section from a china sifu. This was not a simple paper cutting, it needs a lot of time and efforts cutting out the shapes. Those shapes were so complicated and it mixed with some chinese characters too. Those graphics were all created by this pro paper cutter. Since it was CNY season on that time, many people were there observing the steps that this sifu doing his paper cutting. It was so cool... really not an easy job!

The lighting CNY decorations inside the temple were decorated until so nice and neat. Really having the atmosphere of Chinese New Year. It's really a nice place for Butterworth people to have some religion events there! The lanterns were attracted my eyes especially the neatly order makes me feel like taking a photo on it! The theme was 好运一条龙 means Good Luck in the Dragon Year!

Conclusion Tow Boo Kong is a nice place to visit and it's one of the tourist spot in Butterworth too! I like the main building and I will find the chance to make the 2nd visit soon if I can! Tow Boo Kong just like our Penang Island Guan Yin Temple which located at Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling, the nice place and located at lively town Raja Uda. Posted by GenYong 20.02.2012

Guang Ming Daily CNY Celebrations P1

I am sorry for late posting about this pre-CNY Celerations which take place at Butterworth before Chinese New Year comes. I missed the Guang Ming Daily pre-CNY celebrations which took place at Penang Island so I went to the butterworth one! I still remember that day was Sunday and it was like a week before Chinese New Year.

I followed my dad to Tow Boo Kong, Raja Uda for the Guang Ming Daily CNY Celebrations there. It seems to be so amazing because I made my first time there to the Tow Boo Kong temple. It was so huge and nicely craft building inside! Isn't it look nice and antique?

That night it was really crowded at the front entrance of the temple, the people keep rushing to go in and out of course there were some community polices make some arrangement for the public. Since there was too crowded, I just snap some photos and went in from the side door. The artistic lighting there was so attractive and nice purple.

It was crowded, teenagers, children, adults and even old people also came to witness this event! People said Butterworth is a good place to have event because there will have extra a lot of people coming out and support! That's why you can see the crowds there! =)

Finally I get in the temple compound, first I saw there was a line of stalls selling some creative crafting products. Like some tiny souvenirs for friends in CNY greetings. There were a lot of creative stuffs and they looked so nice and unique!

Do you heard before the old days people were doing their soap by themselves and it was quite easy to do. My chemistry teacher had taught us some way using the chemical substances. She still suggest us to do it for our lover in next time. Well, soap actually was divide into chemically made or naturally made. For this type of knowledges, I just know a little bit and quite nice for the natural soap that exhibited on that night. See my dad was asking the girl how she manage to create the natural soap! =)

Besides that, there was some calligraphy writing on the sales there. It looks nice and suits the CNY atmosphere, the chinese calligraphy looks nice but yet the price not so reasonable. Hmm... if it's FREE, I will take one back and stick at my home! xD

There were some stalls selling drinks and food provided the visitors some refreshments and do the promotions as well like muchys was selling their spring roll biscuit and having some promotions there. Carlsberg as well sold their 24 cartons of carlsberg with low price! Not bad.

The best one I think was the camera booth! Everyone was there take a look what's the latest product from Canon, Nikon, Sony, Lumix or even Samsung. The promoter there also congratulate people Happy CNY and encourage people to own new camera in this new year! Quite a creative way to have the promotion there! Nice one Pixus... Chung Ling CCA Open Day 2012 SR.2

Let's continue with previous post about the co-curriculum open day in my high school. Back to high school, the best things to do was to reunion with friends, chit chatting with them and of course say hi to our previous teachers! So for that day I also walked around the school compound witness for our juniors did their job on preparing the recruitment drive....

Here come to Bomba Cadet and Scouts' turn! By the way, I was not Bomba cadet nor scout in high school but I love to see their activities. I have some friends who were from Bomba cadet and also scout, all of them were so friendly and kindly share with us about their experiences. They showed me how to cook something by using charcoal and bamboo sticks, how to tide the structure by using bamboo sticks and for bomba one taught me how to put off fire by using powder form or water form fire burner.

Here come almost my scouts friends, they were quite friendly and active in scouting activities. They were rocks and organized the scout gathering on 6 months ago and of course they did a lot of events before in the school throughout this 5 years of secondary school life. One of my friend You Loong was the scout committee too and he did share with me about their awesome experiences like troop trip or any tough trainings. It sounds so cool and awesome!

I was lucky to have my friend You Loong as one of the committee of scout in previous years. I was quite familiar with the scout dent and the place was really awesome! A good camping site. On that day, all the scouts were worked on the banners hanging, bamboo sticks tiding, showing off their artworks, explaining the benefits to be a scout and bla bla bla... The best one was the nice intro for newcomers!

I visited the school hall section too, as inside there have computer club, arts club, calligraphy club and also robotic club. Quite nice inside like Arts Club, they showed out their nice artworks like wood craving, batik painting, shoes painting and many more creative stuffs! For computer club, they show you how to use Adobe products and some IT features! Robotic of course show you how they control and play through the tiny robotic items...

Lastly I visited the other side of the school. Saw my previous moral teacher Ms Khor and she's now leading the choir club. She is a kind teacher and keen to share something with students. I believe that choir club can be better under her leading. This year choir club was quite creative using the tactics of playing guitars to attract the newcomers to join them! Chung Ling CCA Open Day 2012 SR.1

Here come to the end of Chinese New Year, so say goodbye to all the holidays mood! Besides CNY blog post, I think I review back something happened before Chinese New Year in January! Do you still remember every year I will attend my school CCA Open Day? So for this year even thought I had graduated, I still went back to my school to take some visit on this event!

So as usual like previous years, the whole school was flooded with students and parents. Every uniform units, clubs or sports societies were in action to perform themselves to attract new members join in their club. I was there around 9am and saw there was crowded of people in the school and of course the school compound was so traffic jam!

For this time I went back to school of course meeting with my high school friends! Met some of my same-age friends and also met with some juniors. We also met with some teachers and they seems to be forget our names already! Cool. However, I was quite enjoy when meeting back my old friends and teachers in my previous school! I was prefer to be a student compare to now being a part time worker, it's more tough than being a student in school! Seriously.

I love those society decorations in class, they really put in their efforts on designing and decorating the class and attracted a lot of new students to visit them! One of them was Drama Club, they used up the recycled cloths to decorate up the class with some colourful balloons. Some like Choir Club even came out with guitarists to play the guitar in the walkway of school! Quite a good start for the year of 2012!

The most awesome one can be said was the police cadet! They were lined up in the orderly matter and marched neatly in front of school. There was even some polices from IPD Penang came to witness and gave some information on the way how to be a good police! Besides that, there was a school band team walking around the school with their musical instruments! Nice one =)

There you can see the neat arrangement of police cadet when they were marching on the basketball court! They were seriously neat in those steps and actions. Nobody there tends to miss out or slow down the actions. No bluff, they were handling the real M16 when performing the marching there, as you know M16 was quite heavy to carry and it's not an easy job! xD.

Sunway Carnival Mall CNY Flash Mob 2012

Last Sunday I was followed my friend Christopher Loh who was my senior while I was at Chung Ling High School to Sunway Carnival Mall and attend for the CNY Flash Mob dancing there! We were not joining them to dance while we were there to be the god of prosperity and give out the red packets for everyone!

I made my first time there since this shopping mall open! I think this mall had opened around 3 or 4 years like that and there was always crowded of people according to my friend! At Butterworth, this shopping mall and another Seberang Prai City Aeon Jusco were the latest shopping hotspots!

*Btw, I will post more details about this mall after this blog post!

Before the event starts, every dancers were there making their final preparation and the final rehearsal outside the Ampsquare Karaoke Box. There was quite a lot of dancers who came from everywhere, they were from Penang Island, Butterworth or Alor Star. Most of them were still under age, means not reachable 18 years old! But their dancing skill really awesome! =)

The event was giving the shoppers a shock! Many of them were asking the information booth about the event. You know la, flash mob is like a surprise in any occasion, so we didn't announce to everyone before we did that, just start up the music and let's dance! That day still have skaters slot in the dance and make it more interesting! Nice one =)

They were dancing to all public. I not sure with the arrangement of dance because I was helping my friend to dress on the clothes of "God Of Prosperity" and assist him distribute the angpaos! I just take some random shots there and their dancing really awesome! Many shoppers were there watching and give them the loud claps!

They were dancing at the main stage and attracted the whole shopping mall shoppers to witness that! Even somebody were lining up for movie tickets also stop the queue and watch for this performances. Some of the kids even learnt their dancing steps and dance together at the side! This event was like everyone's event and make everyone happy, surprise while shopping!

There my friend Christopher Loh were there helping his friend from GBBM to become the "God of Prosperity"! I was his assistant and he drove me there too! After the event, everyone was gathered outside the karaoke box again to take the group photo as the memories! I feel this was an awesome performance, and really hope that Penang Island can have this flash mob performances too in the future!

Snake Temple CNY Celebrations

Chinese New Year is almost ending soon! Sorry for my late update due to my working had started a few dyas ago! Let's see what happening at Snake Temple on the 6th of CNY! Actually it's on 5th of CNY and it was the birthday of the god there!

The celebrations last for a few days according from my dad but the actual date was fall on 6th of CNY! So on the eve, you could see a lot of people there praying for the prosperity of the Dragon Year! It was crowded as many people there and seeking a place to put their joss sticks and the temple was turn to be so lively in that night!

I had taken some photos inside the temple about their the praying stuffs there! The temple had renovated before as I was too long didn't been there! Inside the temple there was fixed with air-cooler and smoke absorber but since that day was crowded and the whole atmosphere turned to be hot and smoky! However, because of praying everyone has to tolerate it!

In snake temple, of course you can see the snake rolling up at the rattan hold on the table! Don't scare, it won't bite you! I think they were sleeping at the moment and didn't respond at all! However, went there must be careful especially children, don't play with the snakes ya! xD.

On that night, they were doing the 请火仪式 means asking the god about the prosperity for everyone in this brand new year! From this ceremony, you can do the reference about the whole year luck in Penang or maybe for you and your family! Remember, it is just the reference and not really accurate for everyone! Somehow, to make yourself success, first you must work smart and hard! xD

There was really crowded! Some of them even brought their whole family came from outstation for this celebration! People said got pray, you can get good luck from god that's why so many people there and make the whole temple turned to be so lively. One more thing to say, the temple even not enough electric supply and getting electric shocked in the moment and all black out! Cool.

So at the end the crowds never end until we went home, really crowded! At last about 1am, we went back from there and took some smoke from the god praying to let ourselves staying in the prosperity life in this new Dragon Year! DragonCNY 2012 Day 2 Family Dinner

Yes today is the month of February! I believe that most of the people has started working or started schooling after the CNY break. So can be concluded here, DragonCNY is almost ended. Well, so how was your feeling there? CNY was fun? Alright, let's flash back to CNY Day 2 and I was having the family dinner at Penang Plaza with my KL cousins.

Family dinner? Here come the Lou Sang! 捞生，捞得风生水起！龙年行好运！Lou Sang is a kind of special dishes for Chinese and it's a MUST food for everyone to give us good luck in the whole year and everything going smooth in the brand new year!

Yes Lou ah!!! Lou Sang is like that! Everyone stands up and raise your hand with chopsticks and start mixing everything on the plate! Raise up those materials high and shout "huat", "heng", "ong" (all in hokkien)! Cool... Inside the plate there were contains of salmon fish pieces, salted vegetables, sweet vegetables and some other vegetables... Nice to eat!

The restaurant Hei Yeong Seng was crowded and full house! The whole restaurant only served CNY sets dinner! The set dinner were all in package mode, RM 688++, RM 788++, RM 888++ or even come with RM 1K! OMG, but once a year, it's worth to spend on it.

My uncle also celebrating his earlier birthday there with my cousins. Guess what is his birthday present? They bought him an iPhone 4 external battery case! He was so happy and keep praising the present suits him very much! Happy Birthday! =)

Total 8 main dishes plus 2 extra dishes. OMG! We were so full at last after having this heavy dinner! But it's worth for RM 800 at 15 persons. Everyone was so full and enjoyed at last.

After the dinner, we had the happy family shot outside the restaurant! First was the youngsters cousins family shot and upnext was the parents' family shot and at last add in my grandma and cousin grandma! It's so good to have the chance reunion together in CNY! =)

DragonCNY2012 Day 2

Here come the last day of January and also the date of Jade Emperor Celebrations. Last night I was sleep late due to the praying of Jade Emperor. I did the crazy thing in my life, went to line up at Khoo Kongsi for the MY astro CNY Carnival for the purpose to purchase the Happy Dragon and limited TShirt sets!

So let's talk back the Day 2 of DragonCNY this year. Day 2 of Chinese New Year, usually my grandma will cook for the big meal after reunion dinner. It has a traditional way called as "Kai Nian" 开年, means officially welcome the new year coming up! Therefore, my aunts and cousins were all coming back to mother's home for CNY visit! That day my grandma's house turned to be so lively with the celebrations.

We had our reunion lunch... should be the 1st big meal in DragonCNY according to my grandma. Together with my family, my aunts, uncles, cousin brothers, sisters, parents and grandma! As well my grandma cooked a lot of dishes and prepare for us to have the delicious lunch! A delicious soup, white chicken, meat pieces (Lok Bak), Tomyam Prawn, CNY Vegetables and many more delicious food!

They are all my family members, from left my sister, my dad, my cousin brother with his girlfriend, my uncle and aunt, my cousin brother! They are just few of my family members, still a few more to complete the whole family group photo.

After lunch, here come the angpao distributing session. My aunt was request me to take photos as the proof of giving out angpaos. There my sister's turn to received angpao from her! She's my good aunt and always give us the good advice on any matters, playing jokes with us too!

CNY season of course can't left out of gambling! There you can see my cousin was starting the card games with my uncle. This cousin brother was so playful and all the times like to play jokes with us and the most amazing one was last year he managed to won the almost game! Cool.

Settle down with the home reunion lunch, we went to visit our relatives which is my dad's uncle and I am not sure how to called him in English. Granduncle perhaps? My grandma together with us went to his house located at Sungai Ara and pay a visit to his family. We were there chit chatting, having the CNY biscuits and drinks there!

There the naughty boy Vincent in the house! He was so active and he could even serve us the biscuits and drinks. Well, he's good on persuading people and called me to borrow him my camera a while and he keep on snapping everywhere. As my aunt said this child was smart and quite active in life. Can't believe he is just 6 years old there! xD. There he took a photo of me, so clear and nice! Not bad ya.

DragonCNY 2012 Day 1

Today is the Chinese New Year 6th Day, so what did you do in today? Shopping, hanging out, family outing or watching movie? For me in the 5th day, I went to watch a CNY movie with my aunt and grandma. Let's review back the 1st day of Dragon Year, what usually we did on that day? Having vegetarian brunch in the morning, visiting relatives, greeting neighbours and everyone!

This year Day 1 of Chinese New Year as usual after our vegetarian lunch, we visited our relatives and greeting them with some mandarin oranges, chit chatting, taste for those CNY biscuits and many more. This year my another cousin Natalie was having her 6th birthday in my aunty's house! Birthday + Chinese New Year combo makes my aunty's house turn to be even more people, the reunion atmosphere even bigger.

There she's the birthday girl! Not that standing one, she's sitting beside me when I took this photo. That girl standing in the photo was Natalie's younger sister, both of them are so chubby and play around with us always.They are growing up at KL Puchong City which are my cousin uncle's daughter. This was the first time Natalie celebrate her birthday in hometown Penang!

Yes you can see the sweet moments between the sisters. Both of the are look alike and also the same chubby! Well, their age is same rank with my little cousin Keegan boy. As for Keegan was always play with them and playing around like the kids!

There my cousin uncle and cousin aunt together with their daughters such a happy family there! I still remember my cousin uncle was having his wedding on the year 2004 26th September which married with my cousin aunt who from Sarawak Kuching! My cousin aunt is a kind person and of course a kind mum to her daughters. When I was still kids, I used to out with them whenever they came back from KL!

So conclusion in the first day I get around 30 angpaos from relatives and neighbours. Not really much and some was just red packets a lot but inside was not that much! xD. Well, I don't care about this. Chinese New Year just enjoy it will do! Don't care about angpao and money! So how many angpaos did you get?
