Brendan + Courtney: Wedding

To write something about each and every wedding I shoot is no easy task. My wife on the other hand, is a naturally gifted writer, whereas I would much rather step back and let my photos speak for themselves. I love what I do. Mostly because I love the people I get to work with. Brendan & Courtney are two of our closest friends, and I could go as far as saying that their wedding was the most anticipated of my career. Maybe this explains why I find it so difficult to write after each wedding? Because it’s nearly impossible for me to find the right words to accurately describe how I felt that day. Or how much love I have for this couple.

So when you add it all up: The coolest wedding ever on top of a parking garage in downtown Austin, two of my favorite people, a Cinco de Mayo dance party with a thousand glow sticks, and fajitas for dinner… my words won’t do this day any justice! Brendan & Courtney, we love you guys and wish you the best!

We all need to thank Brendan for designing our new website! He’s a legend.

Chandler + David: Wedding

Last week I made a trip to Dallas to photograph Chandler & David’s wedding at The Aldredge House. Maybe it was my imagination? But the entire day seemed to go off without a hitch! Granted, we were working with a great team of vendors, but even the weather cooperated! As the summer quickly approaches here in Texas, I am grateful for days like this. The ceremony was held just around the corner (literally) from The Aldredge House at Munger Place United Methodist Church. I knew we were in for a good time at the reception when I learned that my friend Aaron (Dallas Wedding DJ) with Uptown Sound would be there! Special thanks to Sam Ramsey for tearin’ it up as my second shooter!

Annette + Marco: Wedding

We’re excited to share photos from Annette & Marco’s wedding in Austin this past Saturday! They had one of the largest families I have ever seen, and their catholic ceremony was a special time for everyone. The reception was held at The Glass Oaks, connected to the Renaissance Hotel in Austin. Annette and Marco… we wish you two the best, and we hope you’re having a great time in Hawaii! Can’t say that we aren’t a bit jealous!

Here’s one from tonights show at Austin City Limits, as Justin Vernon, the lead singer of Bon Iver played his heart out on stage. If you haven’t had the chance to see this man play a live show, you’ve been missing out. Few musicians have the ability to draw in a crowd as well as he does. To see him perform live is truly an experience.

Alissa + Carl: Wedding

We had the opportunity this past weekend to shoot Alissa + Carl’s wedding at Camp Lucy in Dripping Springs. The morning started off rainy, but the day quickly turned into a gorgeous one which was perfect for their outdoor ceremony. This wedding was filled with so many amazing details and love surrounding the couple from their great community of friends and family. This was also the first time that I was Geoff’s official second shooter–it was definitely a great experience, a wonderful couple, and overall just an amazing night. We wish all of the best to both of you and pray many blessings over your new marriage Carl + Alissa!

Annette: Chateau Bellevue

After shooting a wedding at the Austin Woman’s Club last year, I knew I wanted to return at some point and use the venue for bridal portraits. Because of the antique & victorian styled furniture, I needed to find the right bride, and Annette couldn’t have been more perfect! Sometimes I like to mix it up a bit, and set up my lights for bridal session, providing more options for shooting indoors. This can give the shoot a different look & feel, and I love how these turned out!

Annette & Marco’s wedding was yesterday, and I will have those photos up soon! Until then, here are a few from our session.

Alissa: Austin Bridals

I scheduled this story to publish during Alissa & Carl’s wedding ceremony at Camp Lucy, so I guess it’s safe to say “congratulations”! I’m really excited about this wedding for several reasons. For one, my wife will be the second photographer, and she will be my second shooter from this point forward (at least for most of our upcoming weddings)! Another reason why I’m excited about this wedding is because Alissa & Carl are awesome, and it will no doubt be a fun night.

I will have photos from their wedding up next week, so be sure to check back. Until then, here are a few from our bridal session with Alissa last month in East Austin. When we headed out for the shoot, it started to rain, but we didn’t let that deter us from doing our job. And if you’re wondering… no, I’m not that funny; Alissa is full of life, and it shows!

Kristen + Justin: Engaged

Again… another great example as to why we love our job! Kristen & Justin are two new friends, and we ended the night with drinks at The Draught House in Austin after I learned we had a common interest in good beer. It doesn’t get much better than that! Can’t wait for your wedding this fall at The Allan House!

Kayla + Aaron: Engaged

A couple of weeks ago we had the opportunity to do a fun engagement shoot with Kayla + Aaron in our long string of bridal/engagement sessions. On the questionnaire that we send out to get to know our clients better this was one of my favorite responses from these two:

Q: Which one of you is most awkward is front of the camera? Definitely.. A: Yes.

While they may think they are awkward, their love for life and each other covered any awkwardness that may have existed. We had a fun time exploring East Austin, (one of our favorite things to do on shoots!) and ended up at one of our favorite newest little places called Hillside Farmacy. If you haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, it is definitely worth a venture East. Down the street we also visited one of Kayla and all local Austinites favorite BBQ restaurants Franklin Barbecue. We are so excited for this fun couple’s summer wedding! Enjoy the session!

Easter at The Frank Erwin Center

For Easter this year, The Austin Stone combined all campuses and met for one service at The Frank Erwin Center. The Aaron Ivey Band led worship alongside Jimmy McNeal and Jourdan Johnson, and then Matt Carter took the stage to deliver a solid gospel-centered message to crowded arena. It was a memorable day, and I covered the event with several talented photographers who are all a part of The Story Team at The Austin Stone Church.
