Intentando aprovechar el éxito de la ultima adaptación de Sherlock Holmes, protagonizada por Robert Downey Jr. y Jude Law, la cadena británica BBC ha decidido producir una nueva serie sobre el detective más famoso de la historia.

Presentada solamente como Sherlock, esta nueva miniserie británica fue creada por Steven Moffat (Doctor Who) y presentará al mejor detective del mundo resolviendo crímenes en el mundo moderno.

La miniserie, que presenta a Benedict Cumberbatch (Atonement) como Holmes y Martin Freeman (The Office) como Watson, tiene lugar en Londres, donde deberán buscar a un asesino que hace ver sus asesinatos como suicidios.

Como sucede generalmente con las series británicas, Sherlock tendrá una primera temporada muy corta, de solo tres episodios de noventa minutos, que son producidos por Mark Gatiss (The League of Gentlemen, Doctor Who).
