Internet: Obama l�sst die Dr�hte gl�hen...

US-Präsident Barack Obama hat das Internet in seiner Wahlkampagne massiv eingesetzt und will es auch aktiv als Hilfsmittel in seiner Regierungszeit nutzen. Kein Wunder, dass auch seine gestrige Amtseinführung ein Internet-Grossereignis war.

STS-122: RSS rotated back after launch scrub

The rotating service structure has been rotated back to cover space shuttle Atlantis after the scurb of the shuttle launch on December, 6th. I have created two animations of this process, which you can see here.

WordPress: Cleaning German Umlauts

This plugin for Wordpress Replaces german umlauts in permalinks, posts, comments, feeds, page title and meta tags.

This plugin is heavily based on the "German Permalinks" plugin from Scott Hanson with modifications form Michael Renzmann.

There are some useful, as I think, additions to Michael's plugin:

I have added the capability to clean the header title text as well as the meta tags. I've also fixed an issue with html entities which lead � to convert to Uuml; (without the leading ampersand).

Of course, I didn't like that at all. I was happy to find an existing plugin that I could quickly adopt to my needs.

I tested my plugin with WordPress 2.3 and I assume it will work with new versions for a long time (it is quite simple).

So far, this plugin converts special German characters, only. If you need to have some other characters converted, drop me a line with the details and I'll see what I can do ;)

WordPress Umlaut Plugin

This is the home page for the o42-clean-umlauts-rger WordPress plugin.

This plugin solves problems WordPress has when displaying umlaut characters (see sample below) and building links from them. It is based on the popular o42 plugin (hence its name) and is modified by me to take care of the title and meta tags.
