Nando Costa

We're always tickled by the work of Brazilian-born designer Nando Costa, and his recent project – a 10-piece limited edition series of wood engraved artworks – lives up to our expectations.

Costa creates an image digitally then laser engraves the intricate detailing onto large blocks of untreated maple. The pictures are inspired by the artist's own surroundings in Oregon and Brazil.

http://archive.nandocosta.com/230700

Who the Fuck is Ana Botella? - Vandalism Art in Spain

Vandalism Art in Spain

Ana Botella, woman-in-charge of the department of the Environment in the City of Madrid, has pissed off a lot of people. With anti-green statements like "The Earth is designed to serve man, not man to serve The Earth" and a severe disregard for urban art, the wife of the former Spanish President José María Aznar has now found herself multiplied across the city by a team of rebel vandalism artists who have named themselves after the popular Spanish figure.

By tacking on pictures of her face to statues and monuments across town, plus tagging her name in unlikely places, the team hopes to challenge the notion that graffiti is not art – and the repressive politics that accompany it.
