Out of the hundreds of MJ tributes flooding the internet this past week, Billie Tweets stands high above the pack for its ingenuity and utter cool.

Developed by the guys at 9Astronauts (inventors of other personal faves Blame Drew’s Cancer & veetweet), Billie Tweets plays the eponymous Michael Jackson video for Billie Jean, while displaying the lyrics ‘tweeted’ in real time via some simple twitter API magic. If you haven’t seen it yet, do try it out.

It’s reassuring to know that Ed Droste of Grizzly Bear cares. After the band’s performance of ‘Cheerleader’ on the show Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on Friday, the only way to view the clip online was on hulu.com. However, as the video streaming service is, for now, only available within the United States, us overseas folk have not been able to watch it.. til now.

Thanks to the new way we communicate and disseminate information (yes, you guessed it, twitter), Droste immediately shared a link of the clip on TwitVid that user @jose3030 had posted. He tweeted,

For people outside of the US, a video that works anywhere of Fallon performance http://www.twitvid.com/6C9C6

If I was to think about how I would have been able to come across that link in the past, the mind boggles at how unlikely that may have been. This one-to-one direct relationship that fans and artists now share is hugely effective, and probably a lot more awesome than we are yet to appreciate.
