I’m a confessed non-follower of fashion. If you saw my sparse closet, it would be readily apparent. So in posting about sales material for Louis Vuitton, you know it’s got to be good to catch my eye enough to want to share with the rest of you.

Ogilvy Paris with the help of Steam Films from Canada have created a set of stunning spots. Mos Def and artist Niels Shoe Meulman team up in a ring to evoke some of Ali’s more famous words.

These are simple, simple and completely re-watchable.

Check ‘em out. You won’t be sorry.

Breakfast’s 40,000 Flipping Dots of Awesomeness

To promote TNT’s new show, Perception, they went to Breakfast, a severely technologically advanced marketing firm for a solution. What they came up with is absolutely stunning. The 40,000 dots/pixels flip from black to white 15 times faster than they were originally intended to create an interactive display that is not only gorgeous to watch, but is also fun to listen to, due to the mechanical nature of the system.

Paramount Pictures celebrated an impressive 100 years as of Friday. Not only did they update your logo for this moment in their history, but they had Gallery 1988 of LA create this excellent poster as well.

Jayse Hansen Interfaces with The Avengers

The Avengers was fantastic. The definition of spectacle…which everyone can use a bit of, i think. Not only was it spectacle but it was a well written and well told story….which everyone can use a lot of.

One other thing that the team behind Avengers did well was detail.

Jayse Hansen worked on quite a few interfaces for the characters of the Avengers to “interact” with.

They are stunning.

I love seeing how much detail went into such a small part of such gigantic endeavor.

Stunning Wood Castings

Hilla Shamia, an Israeli designer has created a process for creating furniture that will grab your eyeballs and force you to gaze into its awesomeness.

Shamia cuts logs to fit a mold and then pours molten aluminum in along with the wood. Not only does this darken the wood and allow some of the aluminum to seep into the cracks of the wood, but it also makes for a solid piece of furniture that is the epitome of contrast. Warm and cool, shiny and matte, smooth and textured – these pieces of furniture have it all.

There isn’t much I can add to this post. Hilla’s pieces speak for themselves.

Craig Mod’s Designing For The Future Book

I am a confessed bookaholic on top of being a compulsive book buyer. Needless to say, anytime a moving of household is required, my wife and I dread the moving of our library the most. I generally attribute this to my childhood dream of one day having enough books to require the use of one of those ladders on casters that run along the bookshelves. Modern technology is making this much harder to do as it’s allows the purchase of space-saving, digital media much easier to acquire.

Craig Mod’s lecture on the emotional and physical attachment we give to books and how we could/should be designing for future books is a fantastic listen. Take the 40 minutes and enjoy.

Typography 01 by Peter Tarka is a perfect example of work I wish I could do better. the 3D rendering in addition to the unique typography make for an arresting poster design. Enjoy.
