During the development process, one of the sketches organically developed into a beard made up of hops shapes. It was decided to push that look, as well as push a distressed look to give the sense of age even though the brewery is new.

A new illustration for the promotional material for the 2011 C. S. Lewis Festival. This year’s theme? Yes, you guessed it: “The Magician’s Nephew.” A host of media was used to reach the finished project – Pencil, scanned textures, Photoshop, InDesign – and thank you Lost Type Co-op for providing some awesome fonts.

An amazing video by NABIL for Bon Iver’s Holocene. It makes me thinkof Sigur Ros’ Heima. Both make me want to visit Iceland. Badly.

A fine example of an excellent title sequence for an apparently fictional film dedicated to the history of title sequences…did I get that right?

Yes. I think I did.

Jurjen Versteeg has done a wonderful job with both simplicity and slight whimsy creating an endearing, endearing sequence that makes me want to see the movie it was made for.

These are the types of things that make owning an iPad a necessity. OK, so necessity may be a bit strong, but seeing this type of stuff..this is the type of stuff the iPad was made for. I love it.

The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore is a short film/animation and iPad App project from famed illustrator, William Joyce and co-director Brandon Oldenburg.

From the pictures and short teasers for both the film and the app, all i can say is, “I want.” It’s that simple. I can’t wait to be able to take the journey through the app with my son when he gets old enough to interact with the iPad and not just try and stuff it in his mouth.

This is not just a film, or a storybook. This is interactive amazingness.

Just take a look at it and try not to fall in love with it. I dare you.

McLean & Eakin Booksellers, my favorite bookstore, will be hosting authors Ernest Cline and Patrick Rothfuss in a special one-night event. Cline’s new book, Ready Player One, which will be released in August; is an amazing piece of geek fiction. I was able to get my hands on an advanced reader’s copy. I loved every second of it. I can’t recommend it enough. Mr. Rothfuss is a writer who I’ve already mentioned in this blog. His books The Name of the Wind and A Wise Man’s Fear are truly epic pieces of fantasy. Together these are 3 pieces of the best fiction I’ve read in the past year or more.

McLean and Eakin’s event will be mostly based around Mr. Rothfuss interviewing Ernest Cline. Apparently there will also be head-to-head 80′s arcade competition between the two authors. This is due to the fact that much of Cline’s Ready Player One is based around 80′s vintage video games.

I can say I’ll be there. But after i heard about the event i couldnt help but picture this poster in my head and i just had to create it. Due to the competitive nature of the event I found the idea of a fight poster involving to geekcentric authors too amusing to resist. Add to that the pixelated charicatures of the authors and I call it a poster.

I had quite a bit of fun on this.
