These phrases are called keywords and are extremely important when attracting people and traffic to your site or blog.

There are a number of online tools that can be used to view keywords online and these include Google Keyword Tool which is extremely informative as it lets you know how competitive a keyword is, the search volumes and it also suggests other alternative keywords for you to consider.

When using keywords be careful not to over use the same text as this makes the page difficult to read and it is widely believed that for a page to be relevant for a keyword the density for that word should be less than 5% otherwise some search engines such as Google might believe you have stuffed the pages with the phrases to try and obtain visitors and may well penalize you for this.

If you are interested in finding out how hard it is to rank well for a keyword then there is an online keyword difficulty checker which basically tells you how much competition there is online for your keyword. So if say you are thinking of building a website on genealogy the word 'genealogy' is a generic term and will have lots of competition but a more unusal phrase such as 'Scottish family history' will have less competition while a longer more unusual phrase such as 'Scottish family history of Bernard McTavish and his parents' will have hardly any competition. The aim though is to find a keyword that is used frequently but has little competition.

If you already have a blog or a website and are curious to know where you rank for a keyword then obviously you can search Google, Bing and Yahoo to see if you are near the top. To save you some time you can use a free tool to check your keyword position in Google.

If you are setting up a new blog or website if you can use a keyword in your domain name it will give your site a helping hand to attracting visitors who are hopefully going to earn you some money.

Powder Room Graffitti

Powder Room Graffiti is a relatively new website that pays women for writing articles.
For each 500-700 word article that you write you will be paid £10/$15. The graph is certainly a lot easier to understand than some of the documents produced by the Office of National Statistics.

Paywizard is another useful site which allows you to compare the wages you receive for doing your job against what other people earn for doing the same job as you in the same area as you. The data is useful in working out if you are being underpaid by your employer or if you are earning a higher wage than others in the same job as you.

Paywizard also have details of how much some celebrities and footballers earn which is quite interesting whilst at the same time depressing as some make more in a day than a large chunk of the UK workforce make in a year.

Slice the Pie

If you enjoy listening to music whilst writing then you can earn money by combining the two with Slice the Pie.

Slice the Pie allows music fans to become record labels and to make money scouting for new talent. All you need to do is visit Slicethepie and click on Scout Rooms and you will then hear a music soundtrack. You simply need to write a review of the track and give it a rating out of 10.

Your review can be fairly short and two or three lines should usually be about right and this allows you to review a large number of songs in a fairly short space of time.

The amount you earn depends on how good a scout you are. Everyone initially starts as a 1 star scout and only earn £0.03 per track but this rises to £0.12 per track once you are rated a 5 star scout. Your scout rating depends on how many reviews you do and how good your reviews have been.

You can withdraw your money through Paypal once you have earned £5.

Privacy policy

If you require any more information or have any questions about our privacy policy, please feel free to contact us by email at info@getpaidmoney.co.uk.

At www.getpaidmoney.co.uk, the privacy of our visitors is of extreme importance to us. It is an online money exchange and aims to offer a higher return for those lending money and a lower rate for those looking to borrow money as it is effectively removing the middlemen.

According to Zopa's website lenders have made returns of over 9% over the last 12 months which is very high given that the average UK bank savings account is paying less than 1% at the moment. However, lending money is always risky and an economic downturn like the one we are currently experiencing often leads to large numbers of people being unable to repay their debts. If this were to happen lenders could find it difficult to get their money back - even from people with a good credit history. On saying that Zopa lenders have experienced bad debts of only 0.18% to date.

There are a number of safety measures in place for lenders and these include every borrower being risk assessed, credit checked and identity checked. To reduce your risk your lendings are spread across a number of borrowers so that if you lend £500 your money is spread across at least 50 borrowers. Also if someone does miss a loan repayment collection agencies are used to recover the debts.

If you fancy making money by lending money then take a look at Zopa for more details.

Tax on extra income

Earning extra money whether online or offline is great for your personal finances but remember that the taxman will want his share of it. Your knowledge and skill will also be important but just like in the bricks and mortar world those businesses that succeed are those who find a niche market and can make a profit from selling their wares.

An online business could be anything from selling homemade greeting cards, selling secondhand goods on ebay, doing research for people, web design, giving advice and is really limited by your own skills, time and experience.
It is well worth doing some research on the demand for your products by looking at what your competitors are selling and whether you can compete with them. Further useful information is available from Business Link.

Get paid and get fit

If you are looking to get fit for summer and at the same time looking to get paid money why not get yourself a paper round where you can get plenty exercise and at the same time earn some money by posting the FT and other newspapers through peoples letterboxes.

A paper round can be done students, pensioners, mousewifes or anyone looking to raise some extra cash.

Mousewife

I read an article in the paper today about how cash strapped mothers are using their home computers to earn extra income and that these mothers were now being referred to as mousewives.

Apparently a mousewife can get paid extra money for her family online by doing online surveys, mystery shopping, selling stuff on ebay etc with one in twenty mousewives making over £200 a month from their online activities.

The newspaper made it sound as though this was some new phenomenon but it has been going on for years and not just with housewifes. What about cash starved students, teenagers, people on low incomes, pensioners and all the other people who use the internet to try and boost their bank accounts. I'm sure there are a lot of housewifes using the interenet to make money but it just seemed strange that the reporter had decided to single them out at a time when the country is in recession and everyone is struggling for money.

Make money from old CDs

If you are looking to earn some money quickly and want to sell some of your old CDs you could use musicmagpie as they will instantly make you an offer for your CDs.

You simply enter the barcode from your CD which allows musicmagpie to identify the artist and CD title and then to make you an offer for the CD. They effectively give you a percentage of the purchases that you make through shops such as Boots, Dell, Marks & Spencers etc as long as you buy online via their cashback site.

Well you can now earn cashback each time you shop offline in your own High Street by registering your credit/debit cards with them. These details are securely held by Greasypalm and the fact that the BBC, Moneysavingexpert and the fool.com all recommend them should mean your details are safe.

In return you can earn cashback next time you shop at Superdrug, Halfords, Little Chef, Burtons and other High Street retailers. The cashback varies from shop to shop but can be as high as 20% but tend to be around 2%-5%.

Even if you don't decide to register your card details you can still earn money online with Greasypalm. For example, £45 cashback when you sign up to a new mobile phone contract with Vodafone, £10 if you open up a savings account with the Alliance & Leicester or £10 cashback if you sign up to a free DVD rental trial with Lovefilm.

Weebly

Weebly is a website designer site that has integrated Googles Adsense advertising so that you can build a website easily and then get paid money each time someone clicks on one of the Adsense ads.

Building a website is easy using drag and drop technolgy to insert titles, paragraphs, pictures and Adsense. All you need to do is decide on your price and send the products to the customers promptly.

When a visitor to Play.com goes to buy say a DVD from Play and you have listed the same DVD with PlayTrade then the visitor will have the option of buying from you rather than from Play. This therefore allows you to target an audience looking to buy the goods you are looking to sell.

The fees involved with selling on PlayTrade are 10% commission plus 50p per completed sale. If you plan to sell a lot of items it is recommended you apply to become a ProTrader. A ProTrader does not incur the 50p closing fee and can list as many items as they want. A ProTrader account does however cost £19.99 per month.

Make money from domain names

It is possible to make some money buying and selling domain names. Recently cruises.co.uk sold for £560,000 according to DNJournal.com which is not too bad considering it costs less than £3 to buy a .co.uk domain online.

Whilst it is unlikely that you will be a ble to sell a domain name for as much as this it does show that long after the dot com bubble burst that people are still willing to spend lots of money to buy their perfect domain name.

When buying a domain try to pick a domain name that is short, easy to remember and something that someone will want to buy.

The best way to sell your domain is through auction sites such as Ebay, Sedo and Afternic. If you have a decent domain name and you are not looking for an unrealistic price then it should not take long before a buyer bids for the domain.

Get paid money with Squidoo

If you would like to set up a single webpage and make money from that then Squidoo could be your answer. It is designed to be easy for anyone to set up and it doesn't cost you a penny to set it up. You are allowed to write about anything you want on your Squidoo page such as how to make money.

Squidoo and you can then adorn the page with adverts from which Squidoo will give you 50% of the advertising revenue generated, 45% of the money is kept by Squidoo and the remaining 5% is donated to charity.

Your webpage can cover almost any topic such as making money, Star Wars, your hobbies, people, sports etc. It is free and relatively easy to create a lens about absolutely anything you want whether it be people, places, hobbies, sports or something completely different. After writing your webpage you can earn money by recommending products associated with your topic from Amazon, eBay or CafePress or another of Squidoo’s partners. Squidoo also place Google ads on your lens but again you make money each time someone clicks on one of the ads on your page.

Squidoo will pay you once you have reached the cash payout threshold. The default threshold is $10 but you can increase or decrease this threshold to suit yourself and it is recommended that you set a low payout threshold. Once you reach your payment threshold you will be paid via Paypal.

Mystery shopping

If you enjoy shopping you should consider becoming a mystery shopper as this will allow you to get paid money and to shop at the same time.

Many of the retailers found on your High Street are interested to know how good or bad their employees are and to find the answer they use mystery shopping companies. These companies pay someone like yourself to visit the shop and to report back to them on the friendliness of the staff, the cleanliness of the shop, the availability of products etc.

After your shop visit you send a report about your shopping experience and then you will be paid for your time and effort. The big advantage of cashbackkings over some of the other cashback websites is that it has a highest cashback guarantee, so if you find a better cashback deal elsewhere on the internet they promise to at least match it.

Other positives about the new site are that the people behind it have been in the cashback business for several years through their other site Rpoints. Rpoints has long been recommended by various people including the BBC so the new site should be good.

Surveysavvy

Surveysavvy is a survey site who pay you for completing online surveys. The surveys are reasonably regular and normally include some screening questions to make sure you are appropriate for the survey. For example, there is no point in them asking you about shampoo if you are bald or about motor insurance if you don't own a car. If you do not qualify you may still be rewarded as they will enter you into a monthly prize draw.

Surveysavvy is an excellent online survey program and this is proven by the fact that it has over 3 million members across 190 countries earning money from completing surveys. Survey Savvy also have a referral program allowing you to earn money when you refer other members and they in turn complete surveys.

Quidco

Quidco sells itself as 'cashback cooperative' whereby those members who sign up to its services can receive cashback on any purchases they make through its shopping portal.

The shopping portal consists of hundreds of online shops including many large well known companies such as Carphone Warehouse, Tesco, Lloyds TSB, Dell and Boots as well as several smaller niche shops.

Essentially to earn your cashback you click on a link to the online shop, for example, Tesco and do your online shopping as usual. Tesco will then pay Quidco commission of a couple of percent of your total purchases and Quidco then pass this commission onto to you.

Unlike some cashback reward sites Quidco do not keep a share of this commission instead they pass it all on to their members. How do they make their money then? Well they charge a £5 annual admin fee which is deducted from your first payment. If you do not make enough cashback to cover they admin fees in a year then it is simply rolled over and they will not expect you to pay it.

The cashback on offer varies from shop to shop but Barclays are offering £125 for taking out house insurance through them but generally it will be much lower than this at around 2% or 3% of your total shopping bill. But if penny counts as they say and if you do any online shopping at all signing up to Quidco or another cashback website is a good way of saving some money.

Emailinform

Emailinform offer incentives for completing online surveys.
