If your snoring is keeping your partner awake at night and you’re excessively tired yourself during the day, then you could be suffering from sleep apnea. This article looks at 7 simple ways to help overcome your daytime tiredness. Do you keep your partner awake at night with your snoring? Are you often tired during the day? Do you sometimes find yourself suffering from morning headaches, being a bit forgetful, unable to concentrate and irritable? If so, you may be suffering from sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is a very common and often undiagnosed sleep disorder that, according to some estimates, affects five percent of the adult population. Characterized in particular by loud snoring and daytime tiredness, sleep apnea occurs because you stop breathing during sleep. This can occur literally hundreds of times each night and your breathing can be interrupted by up to a minute or more on each occasion. Your breathing is interrupted either by a physical blockage to your airway (for example, loose skin in the back of your throat, or perhaps your tongue, blocking your airway), in which case you are said to suffer from obstructive sleep apnea, or by a failure on the part of your brain to send out the necessary signals to the muscles of your body that control breathing, in which event your condition is described as central sleep apnea. It is also possible to suffer from mixed sleep apnea which, as the name suggests, is a combination of both obstructive sleep apnea and central sleep apnea. Both men and women suffer from sleep apnea, although the condition is more commonly seen in men and, in particular, men who are over 40 and overweight. The main consequence of sleep apnea is that, because your sleep is very light, fragmented and of poor quality, you also suffer from insomnia, or excessive daytime tiredness. Your partner would probably disagree and say that the main problem is your snoring, but that’s a different story! There are a range of treatments available for sleep apnea (including surgery in particularly severe cases), but in the vast majority of cases your quality of life can be improved considerably with a few simple lifestyle changes and natural remedies. Indeed, in mild cases, this is often all that is needed. Here are 7 simple tips to offset the effects of sleep apnea related insomnia and restore some of that lost daytime ‘get up and go’. Tip 1. Look at your weight. If you’re overweight then this is undoubtedly contributing to your problem. Losing just a few pounds can make a significant difference. Tip 2. Avoid alcohol. Alcohol relaxes your throat muscles and this makes it much easier for these muscles to ‘collapse’ during sleep and block your airway. There’s no need to cut out alcohol altogether, but you should restrict your intake and certainly cut out alcohol in the three or four hours before going to bed. Tip 3. Avoid sleeping pills. Sleeping pills can also relax your throat muscles and cause similar problems to those seen for alcohol. Sleeping pills, however, can also cause a variety of other problems as well and there use is not recommended in cases of sleep apnea. Tip 4. Avoid tobacco. Smoking inflames your nasal tissues causing them to swell and restrict your nasal airway. Ideally, you should give up smoking altogether but, if this is too high a fence to jump, then try to cut down and, in particular, reduce your smoking during the evening. Tip 5. Sleep on your side. If you’re typical of the majority of sleep apnea sufferers you sleep on your back, making it far easier for the tissues in your throat, and for your tongue, to block your airway. Even if you go to sleep on your side, you probably roll onto your back shortly after falling asleep. Try propping yourself up with pillows or cushions so that you sleep on your side. If this doesn’t work then sew something like a tennis ball into the back of your pajamas. You’ll find that rolling onto the tennis ball will be quite uncomfortable and it will soon condition you to sleep on your side. If you can’t sew, find a shirt or tee-shirt with a breast pocket. Pop the tennis ball into the pocket and then wear the shirt back-to-front. Tip 6. Improve your nasal breathing. If you suffer from a ‘stuffed up’ nose, then try using a nasal spray to help open up your nasal airway. Nasal sprays should not however be used regularly or for prolonged periods, as they can cause damage to the tissues of the nose. As an alternative, pop along to the drug store or chemist and buy yourself one of many very cheap devices that are available today to help keep your nose open while you sleep. Your pharmacist or chemist will be happy to show you what’s on offer and to help you to make the right choice. Tip 7. Avoid sleep deprivation. Make sure that you are getting enough sleep and that you’re following a regular bedtime routine. Also make sure that your bedroom conditions are set for sleep (the right temperature, quiet, dark etc.) and that you’ve dealt with the worries of the day and are relaxed and ready for sleep each night. One of the major consequences of both obstructive sleep apnea and central sleep apnea is insomnia, and curing the insomnia associated with sleep apnea is a major step in the management of the condition. These are just a few simple tips but you’ll be amazed at just what a difference they can make.

The liver is the largest internal organ in the body. It is also known as primary liver cancer or hepatoma and hepatocellular carcinoma is a cancer arising from the liver. The liver performs several vital functions. It processes and stores many of the nutrients absorbed from the intestine. It also makes some of the clotting factors needed to stop bleeding from a cut or injury. Hemangioma (he-man-ge-O-muh) is the most common type of benign liver tumor. It starts in blood vessels and Hepatic adenomas are benign tumors that start from the main type of liver cells (hepatocytes). Women have a much higher chance of having one of these tumors if they take birth control pills, although this is rare. Stopping the pills can cause the tumor to shrink. Hepatic adenomascancer begins in many spots throughout the liver and is not confined to a single tumor. This is most often seen in people with liver cirrhosis and is the most common pattern seen in the United States.

Hepatic tumors also called Liver cancer. Hepatic tumors is are tumors or growths on or in the liver. There are many forms of liver tumors premary is Malignant. Malignant, primary liver cancer is hepatocellular carcinoma (also named hepatoma, which is a misnomer). These growths can be benign or malignant (cancerous). They may be discovered on medical imaging (even for a different reason than the cancer itself). Most of the time when cancer is found in the liver, it did not start there but spread to the liver from a cancer that began somewhere else in the body. These tumors are named after the place where they began (primary site) and are further described as metastatic. Symptoms can include a lump or pain on the right side of your abdomen and yellowing of the skin. However, you may not have symptoms and the cancer may not be found until it is advanced.

Some researchers believe that cancer starts with damage to DNA the material that contains the instructions for every chemical process in your body, including the rate of cellular growth. DNA damage causes changes in these instructions. Liver cancer also occurs as metastatic cancer, which happens when tumors from other parts of the body spread (metastasize) to the liver. In the liver cancer some cells begin to grow abnormally. One result is that cells may begin to grow out of control and eventually form a tumor a mass of malignant cells. In the United States, most cancer found in the liver spread there after originating elsewhere. Rather than being called liver cancer, this type of cancer in the liver is named after the organ in which it began such as metastatic colon cancer in cancer that starts in the colon and spreads to the liver.

Causes of liver Cancer

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is the main causes of liver cancer. Liver cancer relates to (correlates with) the frequency of chronic hepatitis B virus infection. Studies in animals also have provided that hepatitis B virus can cause liver cancer. For example, liver cancer develops in other mammals that are naturally infected with hepatitis B virus-related viruses. Finally, by infecting transgenic mice with certain parts of the hepatitis B virus, scientists caused liver cancer to develop in mice that do not usually develop liver cancer.

Symptoms of liver cancer

Liver cancer is very common larges countries in world wide. Generally is discovered at a very advanced stage of cancer disease for several reasons. In addition, patients from these regions actually have more aggressive liver cancer disease. live cancer tumor usually reaches an advanced stage and causes symptoms more rapidly. Abdominal pain is the most common symptom of liver cancer and usually signifies a very large tumor or widespread involvement of the liver and other symptom is weight loss. These symptoms are less common in individuals with liver cancer in the U.S.an additionally symptoms is ascites (abdominal fluid and swelling), jaundice (yellow color of the skin), or muscle wasting.

Treatment of liver cancer

The treatment of liver cancer is overall condition of the patient. First treatment if liver cancer is Chemotherapy. Chemotherapy is a powerful drugs to kill cancer cells. Chemotherapy is anot effective not some cases of liver cancer but type of chemotherapy is known as chemoembolization is an important part of treatment for HCC. chemoembolization causes many of the same side effects as other forms of chemotherapy, including abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting. Second treatment is surgery. Surgery is best treatment for localized resectable cancer is usually an operation known as surgical resection. In some cases, the area of the liver where the cancer is found can be completely removed. Alcohol injection has been shown to improve survival in people with small hepatocellular tumors. It may also be used to help reduce symptoms in cases of metastatic liver cancer. The most common side effect is leaking of alcohol onto the liver or into the abdominal cavity.

Most of us have heard the term “20/20 vision” being used in reference to healthy, normal eyesight. Perhaps you have been told you have 20/20 vision, 20/40 vision, or even 20/15 vision. As a measurement of visual acuity, 20/20 vision is considered “good” vision. Most people, however, are unaware or have forgotten exactly what these numbers mean. Let us take a quick look at the meaning behind these figures.

Anyone who has undergone a physical examination at a doctor’s office or a comprehensive eye exam at an eye clinic has seen what is called a “Snellen chart.” This is the chart hanging on the doctor’s wall with the large “E” printed at the top. This chart has been used since the late 1800’s to measure an individual’s visual acuity. Many modern eye clinics and family physicians use an electronic “viewfinder” version of the Snellen chart, but the ratios and results are the same.

Standing 20 feet from the chart, you are asked to cover one eye and read the characters on the chart. If you have 20/20 vision, then you are able to accurately read from 20 feet what someone with normal vision can read from 20 feet. Someone with 20/40 vision is able to see at 20 feet what someone with normal vision would be able to see at 40 feet, and so on.

This visual test only measures visual acuity and cannot sufficiently account for the quality of a person’s vision. Other tests are necessary to determine an individual’s ability to see color and contrast, for example. In other words, 20/20 vision is only one component of normal vision.

Fast food is convenient and tasty and is perfect for those us who work long hours, spend endless hours in traffic and sometimes even have to bring office work home. This leaves us little time for cooking a gourmet meal on a daily basis.

Most fast food is fried and contains trans fat, which, in turn, increases your weight, bad cholesterol and, thus, your risks to heart and other serious diseases. The normal daily calorie intake for an average adult female is approximately 2000 calories and for an average male 2500; one fast food meal contains generally much more than that, which in turn means that whatever you have consumed during the day besides the fast food meal will be excess calories. Most fast food is deep fried or contains other side dishes such as fries, biscuits with butter (which has trans fat), starchy foods such as mash potatoes or any pupates, which will only serve your hunger from two to four hours after, which you will start craving food again.

Fast food nutrition can be regulated by you if you choose to do so, for example, if you have a grilled chicken sandwich instead of the fried version and replace the fries with a salad or fruit instead. All fast food restaurants are now required to carry fast food nutrition facts. All you have to do is ask. That way, you can better regulate what you’re taking into your body. So, yes, fast food can be as healthy as you make it for there are options now that allow us to look up the fast food facts and, thus, ensure we don’t eat what can be bad for our body and health.Helpful TipEverybody loves fast food and restricting yourself from it will only make you crave it more in turn; you can instead try and follow the fast food nutrition facts and cut down on the portion sizes as well as choose the fast food that is healthy and tasty as well.

A sure-fire way to start the success of your business strategic planning process is to identify the foundation upon which your business was built. Lacking a well defined mission statement and equally communicated vision statement identifying your desired future will make the job a great deal more difficult. Rather like threading a needle and thread without tying a knot at its end, an undefined business floats its intended outcome with little to anchor its goals and strategic activities. “Your mission and vision statements should be used to help focus your business in terms of direction, leadership, and goal-setting ; mission and vision statements are the basis for your organization’s strategic planning”, said Don Midgett, author of Mission and Vision Statements: Your Path to a Successful Business Future.

“Visionary businesses excel because they set goals that relate directly to their mission and vision statements. They communicate their vision statement and vision-based goals to both customers and employees. They come up with strategic activities and daily/weekly/monthly actions to reach their goals and, over some period of time, achieve their vision. It is in this way that a business can control its own destiny, rather than let outside forces determine a business direction.” A periodic review by management of your strategic planning actions will let you know if you have chosen the right strategic activities for your business. Additionally you can also make sure that the strategic planning activities you have chosen to implement are all supportive of your mission and vision statements. Use your mission and vision statements to chart and stay the course.

Need help with this? Go to www.missionvisionstatement.com and obtain Mission and Vision Statements: Your Path to a Successful Business Future – you will get well constructed exercises and examples to help you develop meaningful and useful mission and vision statements for your strategic planning process. Begin your process today!

ADHD stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, a complex psychological disorder observed in both children and grown ups. It is characterized by symptoms of constant motion and restless activity, difficulty in concentrating or paying attention (and hence the name Attention Deficit), excessive talking and noise making, leaving tasks unfinished and interrupting others.

Whole foods are those that are either totally unrefined and unprocessed or possessed and refined to a minimal degree. Unpolished grains, non-homogenized milk, and organically gardened vegetables and fruits are all included in whole foods. However, whole foods should not be confused with organic foods (those produced according to legally regulated standards). Whole foods need not be necessarily organic just like organic foods are not all whole foods by necessity.

EFA is short for Essential Fatty Acid, a type of fat that is an essential constituent of every membrane of our body. It is an important part of the cell membranes of nerve cells. EFAs play a key role in the synthesis of eicosanoids, chemical compunds that act like mediators and modulators of the nervous system. EFAs are also important for synthesis of steroids and metabolism of hormones. Thus EFAs influence the function of every body cell. From these findings it is easy to see that any deficiency or faulty metabolism of EFAs can cause problems in cellular function. It can be the cause of hyperactivity in children and adults. Whole food nutrition is rich in EFAs and serves as a natural means of preventing and treating ADHD. Symptoms of EFA Deficiency Main symptoms of EFA Deficiency include unusually intense thirst, allergic responses to general food items, and certain skin conditions (eczema for example). These symptoms are commonly found in ADHD patients. Effect of Whole Food Nutrition SupplyClinical studies show that if whole food nutrition supply is provided to ADHD patients, their ADHD symptoms are relieved to a significant degree. It is interesting to note that males require more than twice the amount of EFAs as do females of the same age group and other similar socioeconomic and genetic factors. Hence males suffer more readily from ADHd on account nutrition poor in EFAs.

Hair loss is a common hair problem among men and women of all ages. A hair loss increases when we became older. Hair loss is often attributed to a physical condition, such as Thyroid disease. However, the lack of proper nutrition can also play a role. Hair loss is a common problem that can be caused due to several reasons. Some common reasons are stress, medication, hormonal imbalance etc.

Diseases of the thyroid gland, anemia, diabetes, pneumonia, polycystic ovaries, adrenal glands enlargement, venereal diseases have a direct influence on quantity and quality of your hair. Hair loss is a problem that affects a large number of males and also a number of females. It can be a devastating problem to cope with which can have some very negative effects on your self esteem. Hair loss is often an inevitable consequence of such cancer treatments as chemotherapy and radiation, which affected kids have to undertake. While temporary baldness may not be a big issue for minor children, cancer-stricken teenagers can suffer deep emotional trauma related to both their disease and altered self-image.

I have had alopecia for years and here is a bit of information for those who also have this conditon. Hair loss is not a problem unless it is excessive. Although it is normal to shed some hair daily as part of hair growth cycle, some people may experience abnormal hair loss. Hair loss is sometimes only partial. It may occur in only some regions of the body or may be a thinning of the hair.

Some people experience it and others do not, even when they are taking the same drugs. Hair loss is common during menopause and after childbirth due to falling estrogen levels. When hair loss is caused by falling estrogen levels, the loss is usually temporary and hair re-growth occurs with time. Hair loss is a very common problem in veterinary dermatology. Many people choose their dogs based on their appearance; therefore, when the animal starts losing its coat, this causes great concern and frustration for the owner.

Hair loss is a common problem that affects millions of men, women, and children. This type of hair loss is different than the loss you experience every day when you shampoo or style your hair. Hair loss is so common that most of the time it is considered a normal variation and not a disease. Other animals closely related to humans, such as the chimpanzee, also lose their hair. Hair loss is a circumstance that literally affects millions of men and women in the United States, as well as across the globe. While female hair loss may not be as apparent as male pattern baldness , there are a number of different hair loss causes and corresponding hair restoration remedies available to women.

Hair loss is a bothersome condition that can affect both men and women. No one would like to suffer from hair loss, and this is why we are always on the look out for ways to prevent or stop hair loss. Hair loss is devastating at any age regardless of gender, and one of the most important things for a hair loss sufferer is to know that there is hope. Realize that both men and women have successfully treated their own hair loss and you do have hope.

http://www.thinning-hair-loss.com

Colon Cancer also known Colorectal cancer. Colon cancer 2nd most deaths for cancers in the US. Colon cancer is cancer that starts in the large intestine (colon) or the rectum (end of the colon). The colon is the part of the digestive system where the waste material is stored. The rectum is the end of the colon adjacent to the anus. Together, they form a long, muscular tube called the large intestine (also known as the large bowel). Tumors of the colon and rectum are growths arising from the inner wall of the large intestine. Benign tumors of the large intestine are called polyps. Cancer of the colon or rectum is also called colorectal cancer. In the United States, it is the fourth most common cancer in men and women. It is the third most common form of cancer and the second leading cause of cancer-related death in the Western world. Colorectal cancer causes 655,000 deaths worldwide per year. Many colorectal cancers are thought to arise from adenomatous polyps in the colon. These mushroom-like growths are usually benign, but some may develop into cancer over time.

Colon cancer often causes no symptoms until it has reached a relatively advanced stage. Thus, many organizations recommend periodic screening for the disease with fecal occult blood testing and colonoscopy. It is common in the Western world, and is rare in Asia and Africa. In countries where the people have adopted western diets, the incidence of colorectal cancer is increasing. Most cases of colon cancer begin as small, noncancerous (benign) clumps of cells called adenomatous polyps. Polyps of the colon and rectum are almost always benign and usually produce no symptoms. They may, however, cause painless rectal bleeding or bleeding not apparent to the naked eye. There may be single or multiple polyps. Polyps greater than 1 centimeter have a greater cancer risk associated with them than polyps under 1 centimeter. Polyps with atypia or dysplasia are also more likely to progress on to colon cancer. The risk of cancer is much higher in sessile villous adenomas than in pedunculated tubular adenomas. Cancer is found in 40% of villous adenomas, as compared to 15% in tubular adenomas.

Chemotherapy is also used to treat patients with stage IV colon cancer. Surgery remains the primary treatment while chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy may be recommended depending on the individual patient’s staging. High-fiber foods help move waste through your digestive tract faster, so harmful substances don’t have much contact with the lining of the intestine. High-fiber foods are also rich in phytonutrients, which appear to protect against several forms of cancer. Calcium and vitamin D also seem to help protect against colorectal cancer. There is certainly just as much buzz about folate and colorectal cancer prevention as there has been about calcium. The jury is still out on antioxidants and the prevention of colorectal cancer. Taking antioxidants, such as vitamin C or carotenoids, may reduce cancer risk but other studies have failed to back up these results. Vegetables high in folate, like leafy greens, seem to offer particular protection from colon cancer, especially for those who drink alcohol. Cruciferous vegetables, like broccoli and cauliflower, also contain phytochemicals that may prevent damage to colon cells.

Colon Cancer Treatment and Nutrition Tips

1. Chemotherapy is also used to treat patients with stage IV colon cancer.

2. Radiotherapy may be recommended Treatment fot colon cancer.
