You see, for most of my adult life I’ve pursued what I consider to be the organizing principles of lasting change.

And, I do believe that the best things in life are free, and that the best strategies in life are simple. By that I mean, simple to understand, apply, teach and share with others.

The following three strategies are simple, and they are also extremely powerful, however, they require consistent and skillful application in order for your personal strategic plan to become reality.

These are the exact same changes that an individual must make in order to create personal change, that a company must make in order to create a lasting competitive advantage, and that a community must make in order to best serve its citizens.

Step One – Raise Your Standards

Any time you sincerely want to make a change, the first thing you must do is to raise your standards.

Simply put you MUST expect and demand more from yourself and from those around you. That means having zero tolerance for mediocrity, procrastination, and any behavior that robs you of potential and increased performance.

If you have the courage to expect and demand more from yourself, you will become the change you desire.

Step Two – Change Your Limiting Beliefs

If you raise your standards but don’t really believe you can meet them, than you’ve already sabotaged yourself. This is one of the biggest challenges people face when constructing their personal plan.

Why? Because you won’t even try; you’ll be lacking that sense of certainty that allows you to tap the deepest capacity that’s within you even as you read these words.

Without taking control of your belief systems, you can raise your standards as much as you like, but you’ll never have the conviction to back them up.

Step Three – Change Your Strategy

In order to keep your commitment, you need the best strategies for achieving results. One of my core beliefs is that if you set a higher standard, and you can get yourself to believe, then you certainly can figure out the strategies. You simply will find a way.

I can tell you with confidence that the absolute best strategy in almost any case is to find a role-model, someone who’s already getting the results you want, and then tap into their knowledge.

TODAY is an important date for a two reasons:

#1 - It provides you an opportunity to redeem yourself and set goals to “start fast and finish strong”.

#2 - It represents the turning point in your life!

In fact, I’ll go so far as to say that outside of your wedding day and the birth of your children, the start of this program may very well prove to be the most important day of your life.

It will come to symbolize, the day you took control of your destiny.

Does every member of your team have the same access on your WordPress site? If your answer is yes, set aside a few minutes to make some much-needed user setting updates. Here’s why:

WordPress blogs have four user roles you can assign members of your team: administrator, editor, author and contributor.

Administrator access gives the user complete control and ownership of the site. WordPress recommends only assigning one administrator per blog, since a lot of responsibility comes with the territory. Administrators have the power to delete blog posts or pages—even the entire blog.

Editors can publish, edit and delete all posts or pages, as well as moderate comments, and manage categories, tags, links and images.

Authors can only edit, publish or delete their own posts.

Contributors can create and edit their own posts, but do not have the access to publish content. Contributor posts need administrator approval before being published, and once the post is approved by an admin, the contributor can’t make any changes. Contributors do not have file/image uploading access.

Now that you know a little more about user roles, spend some time thinking about who on your team should be given what access. Think about role responsibility in terms of blog security—like who has the power to add or remove content—and what unnecessary precautions might lead to mismanaged time—like not giving a core team member the access needed to add images to his or her post.

Once you’ve decided on appropriate user roles, here’s how you (or the administrator) can make the changes:

1. On your blog dashboard, go to the “Users” panel. You can find this toward the bottom of your left rail navigation.









2. Check the box next to a user’s name and avatar. Select the “Change role to” drop down menu, and select the appropriate user access.









3. Click “change,” and you’re all set!

Have you ever planned a webinar, public speaking or video event? If you have then you know the planning and time involved working out all the details. Between meticulously refining the content and strategizing a healthy opt-in audience time is limited. By the time the event is done you’re either happy with the turnout or wishing the event had better results, but whichever way your event goes there are ways to improve upon its success.

Whether it was a webinar, speaking event or a developed video you worked on, the audio is the wealthiest part of the entire event. There is so much you can do with that audio to expand your reach. From a simple replay link for those who wanted to participate in the event but missed it to a unique 140 character Twitter update, the possibilities are only as limited as your ideas.

There is still more that can be done the audio alone like a downloadable mp3, or sound bites uploaded to sites like AudioBoo at a later date to draw attention to your website and message. Yet why limit your performance? One of the best things you can do for your audio is get it transcribed, then once that is done consider:

Transcript:

As much as we live in a world where audio and video are becoming the prominent source of information, there are still times when reading is preferred and sometimes even more convenient. By having a transcript you do not restrict your audience or the search engines. After all, they will pick up this as well and pull traffic back to your site. Now there is a bigger audience for your next event.

Blog Post:

Every audio contains multiple sections, and these sections can be broken down into multiple blog posts. For example, if you had a webinar about mind-mapping you could break it down into blogs like Why Mind-Mapping is Helpful, The Purpose of Mind-Mapping, and The Rules of Mind-Mapping.

Now depending how in depth of your event, you could break down the content further than main points for blog posts. Consider the sub points, and maybe even expand those into upcoming blog posts. Consider the mind-mapping example, if your event mentioned using a mind-map to determine goals, then have a blog post just about that.

Begin by explaining to your readers how to start the mind-map with a picture of Self in the middle followed by curved lines to the key areas of life (relationships, career, home, health, and fun), then instruct your audience in ways to expand those. Maybe there is another blog post from your event that can help people improve study and reading techniques. Just how many ways could you break your event down? It’s so much easier to figure out when you have the transcript in hand.

Social Update:

Throughout your audio you may find gems, those sentences and quotes that leap out with meaning and can be used for Twitter and Facebook updates. They will keep people interested and even draw them back those blog posts, replays and videos with links included. They can even be used to draw an even bigger audience to your next event!

These are just a few of the things you can develop from a transcript. You can use that transcript to write all over with ways to improve for your next event, but also use it to pull the ideas. Start with a mind-map on each topic. The possibilities are only limited by your thinking.
