Bir de henüz hiç değinilmemiş konulara değinmek de gerekiyor. Mesela iPad’i eğitim alanında düşünelim. İlköğretim ve lise dönemindeki öğrenciler için farklı öğrenme teknikleri, farklı etkileşimler. Ders kitaplarının daha kaliteli resimleri, hatta videoları… Üniversitede ise kitapların tamamen dijital versiyonları, resimler ve videolara ek olarak belki de etkileşimli alıştırmalar, öğrenmeyi daha kolay hale getiren fonksiyonlar. Derste alınan notların buraya entegrasyonunu sağlayan uygulamalar ile eğitim sisteminde çok farklı açılımlar. Bunlar inanın hayal değil.

Apple:

• We’re not tracking you when you’re logged out.

Everyone has their bullshit. You can simply decide whose you’re willing to tolerate.

I’ve seen the good and the bad things that large companies do in relation to talent management. Here’s my Top Ten list of what large companies do to lose their top talent.

1. Big Company Bureaucracy.
2. Failing to Find a Project for the Talent that Ignites Their Passion.
3. Poor Annual Performance Reviews.
4. No Discussion around Career Development.
5. Shifting Whims/Strategic Priorities.
6. Lack of Accountability and/or telling them how to do their Jobs.
7. Top Talent likes other Top Talent.
8. The Missing Vision Thing.
9. Lack of Open-Mindedness.
10. Who’s the Boss?

Asking “What would be best for our customer?” doesn’t go nearly far enough. Leading through this question gets you to average results. Instead ask, “What will blow our customers’ minds?” Repeat the question “Can we do better?” until the point of migraine-induced annoyance, and see how much things change. Create a culture that forces this challenge multiple times, every step of the way, and you’ll see remarkable changes in every deliverable. Implement a we-won’t-ship line in the sand that can’t be subverted for any reason if quality standards aren’t met. There are other tactics to distribute the enforcement as well.

More important, Windows Phone 7.5 is a fine operating system that deserves to be successful. Sooner or later, good products usually do okay.
