Ronnie Coaches' parents fight over his corpse

Parents of deceased hip-life artiste, Ronnie Coaches are reported to have clashed over the mortal remains of the late Buk Bak group member.

Ronnie, 36, died on November 21, 2013 at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital after suffering a heart attack.

The body of the musician

, also known in real life as Ronnie Nii Quarshikumah Quainoo, is expected to be laid to rest on Saturday, February 1, 2014 but from indications, all is not going well.

According to eyewitnesses, there was some confusion at the Bubuashie residences of both Ronnie's mother, Lilly, and father, Decarlo Coaches Quainoo Friday, as soon as the body of the late musician wwas conveyed from Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital morgue.

The source said, as soon as the body arrived in the vicinity where his parents live - their houses are separated by a street - both of them insisted the remains be brought to their homes.

Reports say after several minutes of a near tussle between the two factions as to who has the right to the body, an unnamed relative managed to move the body to safety.

It still unclear the whereabouts of the remains of the musician.

The family is expected to hold a Wake-keeping at the National Theatre on Friday, January 31 and the body is expected to be at the venue to be laid in state.

The remains of the late musician will be interred at the Osu Cemetery on February 1, to be followed by a memorial service at the Success Chapel, Bubuashie in Accra on Sunday, February 2.

Dj Perfekt - There is a lot of homework to be done by the Organizers of Ghana DJ Awards

Popular DJ, DJ Perfekt, known in real life as Henry Ofori Nyarko, has called on the organizers of the annual Ghana DJ Awards to drop his name from the awards’ nominations stating he does not deserve any nomination.
The DJ has been nominated in the ‘Artiste DJ of the Year’ category of the awards, which
awards excellence in the Disc Jockey profession in Ghana.

Also in the ‘Artiste DJ of the Year’ category are DJ Toyoo (Tic Tac), DJ Mynor (R2Bess), DJ Mensa (Sarkodie), DJ Carlos (VIP), and DJ Godday (Edem).
According to DJ Perfekt, who was speaking in an interview on the Airtel Entertainment News on Drive Time on Joy FM, organizers of the awards, Mercury Republic, have gravely erred in nominating him in the awards.

“So far as I am concerned, I don’t remember the last time I played for the artiste that I am nominated [for] – that is Samini,” he said.

According to him, the last time he played for Samini was about four years ago.

“So if I am nominated in that category I feel like there is a lot of homework to be done,” DJ Perfekt stressed.

Reacting to allegations of not doing due diligence with the nomination process, Mercury Quaye, CEO of Mercury Republic, said it is unfortunate this issue is coming up and stressed that there is nothing wrong with the nomination process.

“It’s quite interesting the kind of revelation we are having now. Our research revealed that there was a programme where Samini did a live band and Perfekt played with the live band,” Mercury Quaye said.

Although he cannot name the programme on which DJ Perfekt played for Samini, his team “will have to cross check,” to rectify the anomaly, if only there is any.

He promised that, “If we go and check and DJ Perfekt is right, DJ Perfekt’s name will be dropped from the nominees’ list for the Ghana DJ Awards 2014.”

Mercury Quaye explained that organizers have taken steps to ensure that this year’s event is very transparent and fair.

“One thing that we have done this year is to take the awards [and] spread across the country so if you look at the nominations list we have gone beyond Accra, gone beyond Kumasi, we’ve gone as far as Tamale just to make sure that all these other DJs that don’t really have the spotlight are also recognized,” he said.

Mercury Quaye therefore urged that, “If anybody has a problem with anything with respect to the awards,” they have been nominated “and they feel they don’t deserve to [be nominated]…they should just reach us and the right thing done.”

Asked if his name is not dropped from the nominations and he wins, will he accept the award, DJ Perfekt stressed that, “I don’t deserve to be in that particular category this year. I think my name should be dropped from that category.”

The host of the African Movie Review on TV3 said the only challenge she has in the movie industry is her complexion as it sometimes denies her certain roles. “There are times that there are certain movie roles I would love to play but because I am fair and they need someone with a dark complexion, I lose that opportunity,” she said.

“But all in all, movies have opened unimaginable doors for me even though I’ve been tagged as a bad girl because of the romantic roles I play and the sex scenes that come with it.”
To confirm her acting prowess, Shirley Frimpong-Manso, CEO of Sparrow Productions had a lot to say about her. “Nikki is a very colourful and vibrant actress. People should watch out for her in my upcoming series which will be premiered in March this year. It’s a totally different Nikki.”

Child rapper, Kosmos Boako aka Tutulapatu who was crowned winner of TV3 Talented Kids last year is only now realising the hard truths about his prize package eight months after the talent contest.

At the final event when he
was handed part of his prize package, mini laptop computer and boxes of Indomie, his expectation was that soon, he was going to enjoy the bigger portion of his promised package – an educational trip to the UK and a sum of GH¢ 4,000.

Unfortunately, Tutulapatu was “bounced” when he applied for a UK visa and his GH¢ 4,000 can only be accessed in 10 years time, when the lad turns 18.
Pope Skinny, Tutulapatu’s manager, who is not happy about how his artiste has been treated by TV3, is asking officials of the TV station to come out with acceptable reasons why Tutulapatu was denied a visa to the UK.

According to Pope Skinny, TV3 did not communicate to them when Tutulapatu was denied visa. “I only got to know of Tutulapatu’s visa problem on Adom FM late last year. “I expected a big company like TV3 to do the right thing by communicating to us when they were having difficulty securing visa for Tutulapatu, but no one did”, Pope Skinny told Showbiz in an interview last Monday.

He said he heard from a close source at TV3 that Tutulaputu was refused a visa because he could not provide enough evidence regarding his guardians who took care of him.

Pope Skinny who said he is prepared to take the case as far as he can said “TV3 is always doing such things to innocent kids who cannot fight for themselves.”
But the Production Manager of TV3, Gabriel Asante Bosompem, told Showbiz that Tutulaputu has received all his prizes except his trip to U.K of which he was refused a visa because his parents could not provide enough details of how they were taking care of their son in Ghana.

According to him, it is no fault of TV3 for the UK High Commission to deny Tutulapatu a visa to the U.K. “We provided every document that was required but he was denied on grounds that his parents failed to provide enough document of how they were taking care of their son”
Mr. Bosompem added that, TV3 is not aware of anyone called Pope Skinny claiming to be the manager of Tutulapatu.

“We only know of Tutulapatu’s parents and not Pope Skinny. In fact, Pope Skinny can go ahead and do whatever he likes because TV3 is not in any contract with him.” Mr Bosompem said.
He explained that the GH¢ 4,000 he received as part of his prize package has been kept safely for him until he is 18 years when he can access it.

“The management of TV3 decided to keep the money for him until he is 18 years. We wouldn’t be doing him any good if we gave an 8 years old boy GH¢ 4,000” he said.

Not again!!! Justin Bieber Charged With Assault Yesterday in Toronto.

Justin Bieber turned himself in to Toronto police on an assault charge Wednesday, the second arrest in a week for the baby-faced 19-year-old pop star. Bieber arrived in the yesterday evening at a police station to a crush of media and screaming fans.

A police official said the charge has to do with an alleged assault on a limo driver in December. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.
Bieber’s California-based attorney says his client is innocent.

“We anticipate that this matter will be treated as a summary offense, the equivalent of a misdemeanor in the United States,” a statement from the singer’s camp reads. “Our position is that Mr. Bieber is innocent. As the matter is now before the court, it would be inappropriate to address the specifics of either the allegation or of our defense at this time.”

Toronto police said in late December they were looking into allegations that a member of Bieber’s entourage assaulted a limo driver who was ferrying the Canadian pop star and several others. Police said at the time it was unclear whether Bieber was involved.

It seems a lot of people are really tired of Justin Bieber’s antics, and the White House now has to give an official response as the Deport Bieber petition managed to garner over 100,000 signatures.

“We the people of the United States feel that we are

being wrongly represented in the world of pop culture,” reads the petition, which was created immediately after Bieber’s recent run-in with the law. “We would like to see the dangerous, reckless, destructive, and drug abusing, Justin Bieber deported and his green card revoked.”

Bieber, originally from Canada, was recently arrested in Miami for driving with an expired license, driving under the influence, and resisting arrest. (The former two charges have since been dropped.)

“He is not only threatening the safety of our people but he is also a terrible influence on our nations youth. We the people would like to remove Justin Bieber from our society,” the petition says.

In addition to his troubles in Miami, Bieber is also under investigation for allegedly pelting his neighbor’s mansion with eggs. That case is said to be “tightening up” according to CNN.

The Alkaeda hit maker, Nana Yaw Adjei Yeboah Maradona, popularly known as Guru has hit on organizers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, “Charter House” by saying there is no fairness in the awards (VGMA).

Speaking to Agoo East Entertainment Show, Guru said he was disappointed in ‘Charter House’ organizers of VGMA when they rejected his track “Lapaz Toyota” during the 2013 awards without any meaningful explanation.

“If charter house claims there is fairness in the awards, they should give me five awards because I have worked hard” he challenged. NEWS-ONE gathered on Tuesday that captain of the Black Stars, ‘Baby Jet’ Asamoah Gyan and his music partner, Castro da Destroyer would be submitting their ‘Odo Pa’ highlife track to the Vodafone Ghana Music Award (VGMA) board for nomination. Baby Jet and Castro are presenting ‘Odo Pa’ to compete for Song of the Year, Highlife Song of the Year and
Collaboration of the Year and the duo have expressed very high hopes of winning.

“‘Odo Pa’ actually belongs to Castro but actually has Baby Jet Music as the executive producer. It is a love song and the message is for Ghanaians. It is a song they can get some lessons from and a song that can entertain them. Music has to be performed with the right key and melody and that was exactly what Castro and I did,” Asamoah Gyan told NEWS-ONE.

‘Odo Pa’ has indeed enjoyed a very heavy airplay both on radio and TV and was undoubtedly one of the most popular Ghanaian songs in the year 2013.
It was also the only song for the year that had a professional footballer collaborating with a professional musician.
Baby Jet actually sang a whole verse of the song, but did not rap as he had done in his previous collaborations with Castro.

When NEWS-ONE asked Asamoah Gyan what inspired him to collaborate with Castro, he said, “My parents actually thought I would do music but I turned out to be a footballer. Music is my life and has been part of me from childhood. Look, even when I am performing to a live-band, I can actually detect when the sound is not right or when an instrumentalist goes off-beat.

“There are people who criticize me for making music, yet they listen to my songs and actually dance to them. It is not true that the music I do during my leisure time has any negative effect on my football. So I continue to do them and play football at the same time. I am multi-talented and I am not wasting any.

“With ‘Odo Pa’ for instance, I decided to take a break and come down for holidays. I realized I have some time on my hands so I decided to do this song because I love music.
