Hot on the heels of my review of Steven Seagal’s Lighting Bolt energy drink, I would like to now share with you my experience drinking another randomly-branded energy beverage: Jeff Gordon’s 24 Energy.

I’m guessing Jeff Gordon was chosen because he’s a race car driver, therefore consumers would associate cars going really fast in a circle with this drink. The can not only boasts “High Octane Energy Supplement,” but also “Limited Edition.” In other words, buy up these cans while they’re available, NASCAR fans — they won’t be around forever. This marketing strategy didn’t work out, I’m guessing, which is why you can buy a case of 12 cans for only $5 at my local convenience store (regular retail price: $1.99 a can).

The drink tastes orangey and tangeriney, just like the can claims. It actually tastes pretty good, and lacks that nasty bitterness that a lot of energy drinks have. However, this drink managed to give me the jitters pretty quickly, despite my usually high tolerance towards stuff like this. I downed 3 16oz cans in about 90 minutes, which (going by the “daily value” nutritional info on the can) equals out to:

600% Vitamin C
1500% Vitamin B6
600% Vitamin B12
6000mg Taurine
450mg Caffeine
300mg Guarana
150mg Panax Ginseng

I don’t know what it is about this drink, because I’ve drank many other energy drinks before and it never resulted in a boost and jitters like this drink brought on. Ingesting this amount of B vitamins will clean your body out big time. I pissed like crazy for hours.

This stuff can still be bought all over the place at big discounts, so if you’re looking to get pretty wired and are too smart/too afraid to snort coke, pick up a few cases of it. It’s certainly better than that Red Bull shit you’ve been drinking.

While everyone goes apeshit over Bible-thumping redneck Chuck Norris, Steven Seagal has been busy creating one of the most amazing beverages to ever grace the face of this Earth: Steven Seagal’s Lightning Bolt Energy Drink.

After seeing these for sale at the local Wal-Mart (of course), my brother and I couldn’t resist ourselves. We got the blue “Asian Experience” kind, because let’s face it, cherry drinks usually end up tasting like fucking cough syrup (also, I don’t think they even had the cherry ones at the time). The drink boasts that it contains “Tibetan Goji berries” and “Asian Cirdyceps,” which no other energy drink has. This is surely some good stuff, I thought, since everyone knows Tibetan monks can levitate and throw hadoukens and shit (why do you think those Chinese commie bastards are so afraid and hateful of them!).

The drink itself tastes like weak grape juice mixed with figs, and possibly sweat. I hoped it was Steven Seagal’s sweat, but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t. It wasn’t as carbonated as I expected it to be, either, which I was happy about because too many energy drinks are over carbonated to the point where you feel like you’re just swallowing caffeinated air in a can.

Unfortunately, after drinking Steven Seagal’s wondrous LIGHTNING BOLT drink, I wasn’t levitating or shooting energy beams out of any orifice. As a matter of fact, I felt nothing. I would’ve even welcomed potentially negative effects, like feeling as if Steven Seagal was repeatedly dropkicking me. But no, nothing happened.

Well, what can you expect from a drink with Steven Seagal branding being sold at a discount price of $1 at a Wal-Mart?

Verdict: Not worth buying, even for $1. However, Seagal could still beat the shit out of Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme if they ever tried to tag-team him.
