Leather Fringe in IN! My nine year old granddaughter is a trend setter!

FRINGE IS IN!

Vintage leather jackets are even better.

How do I know? Well my 9 year old granddaughter told me so and I think she is probably right. The minute I saw her denim leather fringed jacket I wanted one just like. I need to go shopping!

I buy my blue jeans at the farm store just down the road and I am sure they will have leather fringed jackets. I live in the Portland, Oregon metro area. You can take a country girl to the city but you never get the country out of the girl...especially if "country" is in style. And, like I said, fringe is in...but then hasn't is always been so?

I want some leather fringe...what more can I say!

I just love it when my paper.li at Retire In Style Daily News leads me to something wonderful to PIN and to Post! Here is a swimsuit made by a clothing designer from NYC in an Etsy shop via a Krrb it button. In an interview with Krrb, Christy Luo explained how she happened to design this one piece suit. It seems that, like most of us, she gained a little weight and couldn't sport the two piece wonders in her closet. Hence this darling bustier swimsuit. We love to get together with friends for dinner especially when we are in Arizona. Even though it is winter there, we use heaters outdoors and set our table as though we were dining out at a fine restaurant. It is all smoke and mirrors but we have a lot of fun planning for our next gathering. I saw this book called Table Settings the other day and was taken by it. I think you will want to have it on your kitchen bookshelf. A beautifully set table really takes so little effort yet makes your guests feel like they are special to you.

Simple white with a few flowers and a ribbon around the
napkins. It doesn't get much easier than this.

Coupons Save the Day....Father's Day

Father's Day is this week...have you decided what you will be getting for your father or husband. Here's a suggestion...order a gift from Amazon, give the guy a card and he will love it. I personally think the battery drill would be perfect. I could use it too.

My daughter called yesterday asking about a coupon she was looking at for a Father's Day gift. It was on Living Social and featured a special occasion at half price. We decided to buy four coupons. Now here is the question...do you use Groupon or Living Social or Google for gift purchases? I really think you should subscribe to these services if you aren't already. It is a given these days that paying full price for anythings, including a round of golf, is not being smart financially.

Today I found out about a Groupon Coupon for a "Garden Bootcamp". Four hours with a landscaping specialist spent in her yard learning about the plants and then watching her make a project. The person that did it thought it was wonderful. I would have loved to have done that but I missed the coupon. Darn, I should practice what I preach.

Terrarium Craft: Create 50 Magical, Miniature Worlds

Once, many years ago I planted a terrarium inside a bottle. I had a friend that was creative and very thrifty. She introduced me to the idea of making my own micro climate garden as a decorating item. It was during the 70's when we were hanging plants and making sailor knots to create plant hangers. It was all very "earth mother". Now it is all back...at least the terrarium part. You can buy ready made stylish designs or make your own kits.

There are some tricks to making this a success as I remember. You are making a micro-climate so you need to remember all the rules that apply to our planet. Clean is good, a little indirect sun helps a lot, a place for the water to drain away keeps mold from forming and small, really small plants live in small spaces. I recommend a beautiful book to accompany your new hobby. Have fun!
