Raymarine Lifetag

This system can be used for people and pets.  The system uses what Raymarine calls “LifeTags”.  These little units weigh 1.5 ounces and are about the size of a small iPOD.  They communicate with a wireless base station onboard the boat.  If the signal is disrupted by distance (around 30′) or the unit is submerged in water a very loud and very annoying alarm goes off.  That usually means that Fido or somebody else went for an unexpected dip.

LifeTag can trigger the automatic man overboard in Raymarine’s SeaTalk-compatible chartplotters, radars and instruments, and the SeaTalk devices can display the lat/lon of the person as a waypoint.  In other words if its dark or the seas are really nasty you can actually find them, get back to the person and fish them out.

The basic unit inlcudes two LifeTags, the base station, the alarm module, batteries (yes it even comes with batteries!), arm bands and a hand book.  This for only around $650 on this site.   You can expand this system for up to sixteen crew members/pets.
