Site improvements

I've implemented my new protection system and re-opened african network 41.0.0.0/8, because some guys from Egypt and South Africa really wanna find a soul mate, but not money.

Also i've added links to report about scam profiles and/or photos. This feature will help us to keep online dating site clear from scam and spam and other inconvenient things.

Ok, here are some improvements i've made recently on my dating site:

1) Registration form lightened. Well, after some observations, i've noticed that new people don't like to fill heavy and large registration forms. So i've removed all extra information from registration form and left only basic data: name, email, location, religion, ethnicity and speaking language.

2) Related indexes. I've added related dating indexes to easier navigation on the dating website. Now from any profile page, u may navigate related personals indexes, like: USA dating, Russian dating, Asian dating, Black Dating, Jewish dating, Christian dating and so on. I guess tomorrow i'll post here the most popular singles personals indexes here.

3) Extending search. After numerous requests i've added possibility to specify search of profiles by the source: search on gimeney dating site with possibility to contact persons directly for free, or search through the partner websites, who published profiles on the gimeney. Profiles from partner sites available to contact only on partner site and on it's terms and conditions. (note this feature available only to registered customers).

4) Blocking scams. Read message below to find out what has been done to protect you from spam/scam bothering.

5) Languages switching. Now from every page you may navigate to the page with same content but in other language. Currently only russian, but french, german, spanish and chinese mirrors are coming. By the way, if you wish to help us with them, please contact me.

6) Tuning. Well also i've done some language and tech tuning on the site, but most of them unnoticeable by users.

Scammers report

Well, i'm not quite sure what happened, but last week was really hard because of scams.

Seems online dating scam rises really strong in African countries. And going smarter. Anonymous proxies, US based internet accelerators... It's like a non-stop fight of good and evil.

I'm currently working on automatic spam blocker. But some issues presents with false blocking.

But i remember time when russian dating was well known for big percentage of scam.

I've blocked 41.0.0.0/8 network at all. Sorry good African guys, but i can't let African scams to bother people who just want to date. And some african networks are unidentified in this sub-net.

Today i've tuned registration and search process and made country/state/city selection easier for you and without annoying popups.

But as usual after upgrades, some bugs can appear. If you noticed something going wrong, please let me know using our support form:

Also made some browsers tuning, cause companies still following their own ways in certain things of the web.

At the moment site checked and should work fine with:
- Internet Explorer
- Mozilla Firefox
- Flock
- Netscape
- Opera
- Safari for windows

I've tested and tuned website code for lastest versions of browsers i could get from official websites.

Few words about scammers: don't be a victim

Well, my experience of managing free dating site last half year brought me some ideas and thoughts i'd like to share with you.

Geography of scammers.

On our site scammers mostly (99%) coming from 3 geographic regions:

1) Central Africa. I guess i've got less than 5 real singles from some african countries. But in half year i've blocked about hundred scammers from there. After i got such statistic i've decided to block african subnets at all. Mostly they are:
- Republic of Ghana
- Ivory coast / Côte d'Ivoire
- Nigeria
- Burkina Faso
- Senegal
- Gambia

Scam from there is mostly so-called 'African scam'. It's about some huge deposit of money in african bank, but to obtain it u need to pay a bit.
Other version: is poor beautiful girl got to africa, lost her money and can't come back to be yours.

2) Lugansk, Ukraine
Sexy photos -> Polite sexy talks about nothing -> I like you SOOO MUCH -> Gimme the money for something...

3) Yoshkar-Ola, Russia
Same scheme as Lugansk one.

There are some more scammers places but very few of them.

How to recognize SCAMMER. Some useful signs.

1) Most scammers pretending sexy girls/women.
2) First impression is going from photo. Look at photo. Try to describe it in one word. If this word is - boobies/sexy/omg hot hot. it's +1 she/he is scammer
3) If you see that all photos made in different interiors and all looks like from magazine (no life photos or photos not from one studio set), it's +1 she/he is scammer
4) If you see one single sexy photo. +1 she/he is scammer
5) If woman/girl with sexy photos contact you first, well, man. Depends on your personality ofc, but anyway +1 she/he is scammer
6) If woman's first mail is unpersonalized, not addressed to you exactly (not using your name, specific profile details), it's possible SPAM/SCAM
7) Once again, accept it. Sexy girls usually don't look for guys. But waiting to be found. And they have no problems with men's attention.
8) If woman/girl want to get ANY money, For ANYTHING - it's fake and scam. Reason can be really dramatic: sick mom or child for example. Meet first. And would be better if your or her meeting tour and apartments will be arranged by some tour-operator and paid by yourself (if you pay the money). Dont' save them by following promises to make it's twice cheaper and so on. U can just lose your money.
9) If she want's gifts or something, please keep in mind that it's gift to unknown anonymous person who posted profile and photos on the website.
10) If first message looks like "you may contact me by email noname@myname.com" it's really possible scammer, who want' to move out of dating site to avoid automatic scam/spam detection mechanisms.
11) if you moved from dating site to the emails exchange, try to search her email on www.google.com . You can be really surprised. Also if you know how to view originating IP address in email headers, u may check it where it's came from on http://all-nettools.com/ for example.

Paid sites vs. Free sites

Just keep in mind that all big sites built to make a business. To earn money.
Free sites. usually earns on additional services or advertisements. And they interested just in more customers and good responses from ex-customers.
Paid sites. they earns money on memberships and/or contacts selling. So their work is to interest people to pay. To do it some sites post fake photos, fake profiles with nice boobies. Sexy girls contacts you and waiting for you behind the payment. And disclaimer frees such sites from any responsibility. So no different between free and paid except spending money. Sometimes really big money.

About gold diggers

Gold diggers are real persons. You can meet them and spend some time together. But their purpose is not creating family. The just want to get some money/car/flat/jewels. Depends on your pocket.

My opinion is that it's outside of dating services. It's just between men and women. And it's up to you how you deal each other.

Dating Scammers

As every dating website, Gimeney.Net faced scammers. Mostly oriented on western men, trying to scam with money transfer shit or just asking to send money for help.

I'm trying to keep my site clean, but please, understand, that i can't moderate your communication. And can't control it. i'm blocking scammers as soon as you report me or some tricky mechanism catch them, but it's not really easy and i can't be online 24/7. I'm just 1 man.

Just be careful. I put notice on message page, that never send any money in any circumstances. Just relax. Control your mind. Especially if it's nice young lady that is crazy about you after few messages. It just can't be.

Real love can be found in real world. Dating site is just a tool to make your search easier.

Glad that main work on the http://en.gimeney.net and http://ru.gimeney.net are completed now.

They are functional and works. And hope that it will work and make people happy.

And hope that now, i'll be able to take some English lessons :)

My friends asking me, why did i spent my time to create a free dating website? Let me explain my position:
The first reason i guess, that i'm single. And my point of view on the dating and romantic relationships as different than they were 10 years ago. I suppose that there is a man in this world that supposed to me. And vice-versa. And it's a kind of trick to find it in the whole world. So my site is free for communicating and it's containing all features i could found in the on-line dating sites, and it's for people from all the world. Just hope that someone will find his destiny with my site help. It will make me happy. (Just hope that ads and additional services can make it out).
