Tank - The 3rd Round

Tank Lu Jian Zhong has released his much-awaited new album, The 3rd Round or Di San Hui He, which is his 3rd album [and hence the title of the album] following the release of his last album, Keep Fighting or Yan Chang Bi Sai, more than 2 years ago! This latest album contains 10 songs and it seems that this time, there’s no duet with a female singer. Tank Lu took such a long time to release The 3rd Round because he underwent a heart surgery as he has severe arrythmia, a genetic heart disease where the heart beats irregularly. I’ve doubt that this album will be better than his last one which is amazingly good but hopefully, this one will be good enough to make us wait for his 4th round!

Deserts Chang - City

Deserts Chang Xuan has released her new album, City or Cheng Shi. Although this is her third album, City is the first album featuring her band Algae which was formed last year. I’ve listened to only a few of her songs such as the hit, Baby or Bao Bei, and I realised that her acoustic-type music is not of my taste, much like that of Cheer Chen. Thus, I don’t know what to expect from this album but for those who like Cheer Chen, Deserts Chang may be another singer that you may want to try as both of them are known for their clear voice.

Evonne Hsu Hui Xin - Lover

Evonne Hsu Hui Xin has released her new album, Lover or Ai Ji Xian, following the release of her last full-length album, Mystery, back in 2006. She did release an album last year titled eVonne but it contained only 4 songs. Thus, those who like her songs and dances [or purely because she’s gorgeous] will finally be able to listen to her again after the long wait. Love Extreme or Ai Ji Xian, the single of the same title as the album, is also the theme song of an online game and not surprisingly, is a fast tempo song which is the forte of Evonne Hsu Hui Xin. Although I’m not a fan of fast songs, I’ve to admit that I enjoy listening to her previous hits and has great expectation for this album.

Claire Guo Jing - Singing In The Trees

Claire Guo Jing has released her third album, Singing In The Trees or Zai Shu Shang Chang Ge. This new album contains 10 songs with the tracks arranged in such order that the first 3 songs are most probably the best ones [or at least the ones that will be getting the popular votes] in this release. The first track is obviously the first single as it has the same title as the album, Singing In The Trees or Zai Shu Shang Chang Ge, while the subsequent 2 songs are the theme songs of Taiwan version of Korean drama series. Although her previous 2 albums do have some good songs, I think Claire Guo Jing is over-rated and it shows how excellent marketing can do wonder to an artiste…

Black And White OST

This is the official album of Taiwanese drama series, Black And White or Pi Zi Ying Xiong, containing all the theme songs. It’s a big-budget police idol drama with Vic Zhou and director Tsai Yueh Hsun from Meteor Garden reuniting again. I’m not sure whether the songs are good as I didn’t watch this series but most of the people who have watched Black And White are recommending it. This album will certainly appeal to the fans of the drama series as the cast are also involved in the theme songs such as Mark Chao and Jason Tsou. Strange, where’s Vic Zhou?

Wilber Pan - 007

Wilber Pan Wei Bo has followed Jolin Tsai to become a secret agent in his new album, 007, by taking the role of Agent W [vs Agent J]. This album contains 11 tracks including the duet with Akon in Be With You, a bilingual song much like in Hate That I Love You between Hins Cheung and Rihanna. Although Akon is really a big name in R&B, he still can’t save this song as Wilber Pan Wei Bo really messed up with some rapping parts in Be With You. As I haven’t listen to 007 yet, I hope the other songs are good enough to save our Agent W this time…

Penny Tai - Forgive Me For Being The Girl I Am

Penny Tai Pei Nee has released her latest album, Forgive Me For Being The Girl I Am or Yuan Liang Wo Jiu Shi Zhe Yang De Nu Sheng, which although contains 14 songs, 5 of them are actually old songs which had been released in her last album, Who Am I?, back in last June. So, this leave us with 9 new songs which is just one short of the usual 10-track per album offering in similar full albums. However, the inclusion of the older 5 songs will be good for those who didn’t have a copy of last year’s album and may tempt people into parting with their money and try this album.

Love 18 OST

This is the official album for the theme songs of Love 18 or Ni Feng 18, a Malaysian idol drama. Although this is a Malaysian production, it has an international ‘feel’ as it was filmed in Taiwan with all the lead actors and actress from different countries. The lead actors are Chin from Thailand and Chen Zhe Yao from Malaysia while the lead actress is Zhong Xin Yi from Taiwan [she looks cute!]. It seems that Love 18 also has Michael Wong Guang Liang, Nicky Lee Jiu Je and Rynn Lin Yu Zhong in the cast as well but I can’t verify it as I haven’t watched this drama series yet. Anyway, this drama series has got favourable reviews and most probably its songs will be decent too…

JS - Somewhere

JS, formed by Chen siblings, has released a new EP, Somewhere, which contains only one [strictly-speaking] new song. Although this new album has 6 tracks, 4 of them are different versions of the new song, Somewhere, while the remaining 2 are remixes of their older songs which were released in their previous albums. However, this EP provides something new for their fans as this is their first offering of electronic music and the single, Somewhere, is quite good…

Ocean Ou De Yang - Fly

Ocean Ou De Yang has finally released new songs through this new EP, Fly or Qi Fei, after the release of his last album, 101 Love Letters or 101 Feng Qing Shu, back in 2007. This mini album contains 5 songs and although not all of them are new songs, they are considered as new materials such as the new versions of his best hits Lonely Northern Hemisphere or Gu Dan Bei Ban Qiu and 101 Love Letters. In fact, I really can’t wait to hear the new songs and also Ocean Ou’s popular hits again in their new presentation!
