How I’m Preparing for Postpartum as a Crunchy Mom of Three

I’m a few short weeks away from giving birth to baby number three. My oldest was born in our apartment with a team of midwives. My second was born in our freshly painted new home on the coldest day of the year. My third… well… we will see what she has in store for us!

My midwives have said that third borns are unpredictable. They said to keep open hands and an open heart on my expectations. I guess third borns want to make a name for themselves from the moment they enter the world. To be honest, I’m not worried about it. Little baby girl can enter this world however she sees fit. I’m just excited to meet her and see her sweet face.

Thinking about pregnancy, labor, and postpartum has looked so different this time around. I’m not as focused on the labor. I’m locked in on postpartum. I want to set my 4th trimester up for as much success and healing as possible. I want to feel nourished, cared for, loved, and uplifted as a mother in this new season of life. I want to eliminate all extra stress and expectations from my life. My goal is to stay in bed and absorb these moments before I blink and they’re gone.
