The winter clothes clothing drive we held at the end of last year was a HUGE success. I am still stunned at the amount of donations we received! I’d like to give a big THANK YOU to those of you who contributed by donating clothes as well as those that helped with the storage and sorting of all the donations. As most of you know, the donations benefitted the Atlanta chapter of Johnnie’s House and an organization called La Casa de Angeles. Both of these organizations assist victims of domestic violence and rely on our support in order to continue their mission. As part of their fund raising efforts, La Casa de Angeles is currently selling emblematic angel-shaped pins and pendants of various sizes. The prices range between $5 and $25, and vary by style and size. They are silver, with the angel holding a heart made out of a purple stone, as purple has been the color of domestic violence awareness for over 20 years. Proceeds from this sale and from your direct donations will be used toward the acquisition of a new building that will house a training center. This center will be used to provide vocational training, life-coaching and counseling to women and children, thereby enabling them to gain confidence and become self-sufficient.
