My Lil’ Mouse – a computer mouse for kids

A new gadget has appeared on the US market recently – a computer mouse designed especially for kids.

It’s called “My Lil’ Mouse” and it was created with a help of Dr. Curtis Whitcomb who works as a pediatrician. My Lil’ Mouse style and colors were designed for kids aged 2 years and above. The gadget comes in two color versions: blue and pink and costs about $25.

Mobileart phonebook – iPhone as an interactive book for kids

Mobile Art Lab from Japan figured out a really interesting way to use the iPhones.

Designer from MAL created a great gadget –a frame for the Apple cell phone. By putting the iPhone in the frame, you will change the regular phone into colorful and interactive book for your kids. It will make a kid’s book with pictures come alive on their eyes and give your kids something more than just static images. It is only an idea but it’s very possible that it will soon be available to buy this kinds of a gadget in stores.

Sugar – learning software for kids

Sugar Labs – the authors of the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) project, has announced the first beta release of Sugar on a Stick, a self-contained Sugar environment that is distributed as a live USB image.

It can boot on PCs, notebooks or netbooks and it offers a unique child-friendly user interface. All created data are stored on the USB. At first the Sugar Learning Platform came as LiveCD and image for the virtual machines on Windows and Mac OS X.
Offering a coherent and consistent computing experience, Sugar Learning Platform includes many applications – Activities for students as well as for teachers (e.g. InfoSlicer). It’s very helpful for designing lessons with content from the Internet.

Jakks Pacific EyeClops Night Vision 2.0 – Night vision goggles for kids

Jakks Pacific EyeClops Night Vision 2.0 is the great gadget to be used in nighttime or in minimal light environment. The infra-red night vision set up allows the wearer to see in total darkness for up to 50 feet.

The producer claims the new goggles are more comfortable to wear and now allow the wearer to see with both eyes with the new dual eye display. It will also be a lot cheaper than earlier models.
The goggles have an interesting design and they are powered by five AA batteries. They offer focal adjustment and the modes include a long range mode for recon missions or stealth mode for close proximity.
