Hi, all!  I’m Monica from Ciao, Chessa! and I’m so thrilled to be a contributing editor here on Glamamom.

It doesn’t happen often as a mom of a toddler but I always feel like a new person whenever I have some time alone. I don’t always get the chance to do it but when I do I want to make it count so last week, for no particular reason, I visited Madison Square Park – one of my favorite places in the city.

I had read about the new art installation by Orly Genger and I was so intrigued. The project, titled simply Red, Yellow and Blue, features 1.4 million feet of layered, painted, and knotted rope – enough to span the length of Manhattan nearly 20 times! The rope, collected from up and down the Eastern seaboard, is covered in over 3,000 gallons of paint, and weighs more 100,000 pounds. The park, a really beautiful and small oasis in the middle of one of the busiest intersections in New York, seems completely transformed with this unique project making its way around the cityscape. I love how it seamlessly winds its way around the periphery of the park and how they planted the flowers to almost hug the edges of the rope.

The work is up through September 8th and if you’re in the city it’s not to be missed. Madison Square Park also has a fantastic playground so take your kiddos to see this and then take a ride on the swings. When we lived in the area I took my daughter to this park all the time and I can’t wait to show her this unique project (followed by a trip to Eataly for gelato of course).

Happy Monday! Hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day. I was fortunate to spend the weekend surrounded by my boys, celebrating the beautiful women in my life, and reflecting on the crazy journey of motherhood. Being a mom is the hardest but best and most exciting thing I’ve ever done. I can’t help but love an occasion devoted to celebrating it.

I’m jumping on the floral trend this week. We’ve had some amazing spring weather here in New York and I’m enjoying every minute of it before it becomes unbearably hot. I was wearing this outfit on Friday to attend a wine and cheese mom’s night out hosted by Mommy Shorts and UrbanSitter but it was such a warm evening that the jacket was too much.

Saturday afternoon Sebastian and I enjoyed a private tour of the Central Park Zoo courtesy of UGG Australia. They have an adorable summer children’s line and invited us to have a look and let the kids test it out. Cute and comfy so check it out if you have little ones.

As Mother’s Day weekend rolls around, I’m happy to share these fun photographs Jane Goodrich of Jane Goodrich Photography took of me and the boys one rainy morning in April. Jane’s studio is in Westchester but she shoots all over New York City and parts of New Jersey and Connecticut.

Inviting a new photographer into the home can be a little awkward and obviously having kids photographed is stressful given their short attention span but Jane took it all in stride and really endeared herself to the boys. Despite the several emails beforehand letting us know what to expect and how best to prepare for the shoot, I was running late and not even dressed when she arrived and the kids were being their normal energetic selves. The weather was also less than ideal. I’m so thankful for the kindness and patience Jane showed us all morning long. She took her time and just hung out with the boys photographing them while they ate and went about their routine. She even managed to capture them all sitting still which is nice bonus!

Thank you so much Jane. We’re thrilled to have professional photos from this time in the boys’ lives. I can’t wait to work with you again.

I’ve had a blast hunting designer deals for less at T.J. Maxx these past 4+ weeks. With everything that life throws at me as a mom, I haven’t enjoyed shopping this much in a long while. Working on the MaxxStyle Scout campaign has renewed my love of browsing and trend spotting and may have permanently altered the way I think about shopping retail! I didn’t just find a few things but dozens upon dozens of high-end designer labels that I would normally have paid full price for, for 50, 60, and  70% off. The store in Chelsea is literally one avenue away from stores that are selling the exact same merchandise for more. Hard to go back after that realization!

In case you missed any of the prompts, week 1 was Ladylike, week 2 was Bold Colors, and week 3 was Black & White. This week’s final challenge was prints so I opted for bold, modern stripes. The look is head-to-toe T.J. Maxx, except the watch. I’m obsessed with this kimono sleeve top. It’s light, flowy, and very forgiving! White jeans are a warm weather staple for me so I picked up this designer pair which I know I will wear all summer long, as well as the mint bag, rosegold sandals, and white sunnies. Swap out the flats and jewelry and I could easily take this outfit from day to night.

There’s no better motivation to get out for a run than the gorgeous weather we’re experiencing here in NYC, a great playlist (currently listening to the David Guetta channel on Pandora), and stylish workout gear!

As a life-long runner, I really appreciate the evolution of activewear towards lifestyle-wear with a focus on comfort, versatility, and functionality.

As a busy mom of 4, it’s not surprising that Heidi Klum is back again with a new collection for New Balance designed to not only make you look good while working out, but also feel great doing it. A collision of sport and fashion, HKNB has moisture-wicking technologies in its performance clothing, while offering lifestyle pieces that can be layered and worn inconspicuously when you’re not working out.

The collection’s palette is a mix of neon, brights, and neutrals that are easily mixed and matched, and each piece has special little details like reflective strips and zip pockets. I really like the range of clothing I reviewed including the hoodie, tank, and capris shown above and a pair of ankle tights not shown. They’re all fitted and flattering with ruching and a mix of color or texture.
