PHP update

This website has just been updated to work with a more recent version of PHP, namely PHP 7.3. Definitively, it was no more indicated to keep working with the (very) old PHP 5.6!

In passing, PHP is the language around which this simple website is developed. It extracts info from database and put them in HTML pages, for you to see.

Please report any issue you may encounter in browsing these pages, thank you very much!

How many digits?

I am revising data formatting in Table 1,2,3 in order to show more consistent values. To begin, data in Table 2 now are shown using the correct number of digits after comma (usually, two digits are good, apart from the last column, that shows the HBT value as an integer).

A new table has been added, with just another possibility to browse data: the just created Table 4 features the list of cluster showing for each entry the latest bibliographic item. This can also help us to understand which clusters need to be updated! ;-)

Now the page of a single bibliographic item can show the name of the person who (eventually) submitted the paper (yes, you can submit papers!). The name is a link towards her/his user page.

With the paper of Arellano Ferro, A. et al. (Revisiting the variable star population in NGC 6229 and the structure of the horizontal branch) we just reached the milestone of five hundred selected papers in the bibliographic section of globular clusters database. We take the opportunity to celebrate this moment, remembering a glorious Italian car with the same name (“Cinquecento”, i.e. Five Hundreds)

Listing all papers of a given year, now present link towards the list of the event in that year, from wikipedia (here is an example for year 2001). If you list papers according to another criteria (so to have a list of papers of different year) the link point inside gclusters, instead.

I have implemented a simple routines that display a link to the “cluster of the day”; namely, we scan all the galactic globular cluster system, starting from the galactic center and moving outward, one cluster a day. Just for fun… hope you’ll like it! ;-)
