This is such an easy and foolproof recipe to do and you can change the topping and add cheese & onion, roasted peppers or sundried tomatoes: I used this recipe on Britain’s Best Dish for the semi finals as I knew I would not be nervous doing it in front of the cameras which of course can be quite nerve wracking. But I knew it would turn out fine as its just such a brilliant recipe. I hope you like it! Oh and you must use olive oil nothing else.

Pre heat the oven to 200 degrees Gas 6

1 tbsp olive oil, plus extra for oiling, 350g/12 oz strong white bread flour, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 tsp easy-blend dried yeast, 1 tsp sugar, 210 ml/7.5 fl oz tepid water, 140g/5 oz mozzarella cheese grated. FOR THE TOPPING: 2 Tbsp olive oil, course sea salt & fresh rosemary sprigs.

Lightly oil a 25 cm/10 inch round shallow cake tin.

Sift the flour & salt together into a warmed bowl. Stir in the yeast and sugar. Make a well in the centre. Add the water and oil to the well and mix to form a soft dough.

Turn out the dough onto a lightly floured work surface and knead for 5-10 mins, or until smooth and elastic. Put the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with clingfilm and leave to rise in a warm place for 1 hr.

Turn out the dough again and knead lightly. Flatten the dough, then sprinkle over the mozzarella cheese and gently knead in. Shape into a ball, flatten slightly, then roll out into 25cm or 10 inch round. Transfer to the prepared tin, cover with lightly oiled clingfilm and leave to prove in a warm place for 20 mins.

Using your thumb make indents all over. Cover again and leave to prove for a further 15 mins. Add your topping of your choice (as mentioned above.) Drizzle olive oil over the dough surface and sprinkle with the sea salt and rosemary sprigs. Bake in a preheated oven for 20-25 mins until golden. Transfer to a wire rack and leave to cool slightly. Delicious served warm

We travelled into the city of Liverpool on Monday to see the cruise ship Queen Victoria at Liverpool Docks. It was very impressive to see we missed the Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla who attended at 1pm. We only managed to get there for 5pm due to working. We were hoping to get invited on board as my in-laws were having there wedding vows blessed by the Captain Wright at 5.30pm. They have been married for 53 years which I think is pretty impressive. Unfortunately we were unable to get on board.

Royal Highness Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, sounded the midday whistle on the liner Queen Victoria in Liverpool Mon 26th July 2010.

The Duchess made an official visit to the liner during the ship’s first call at Liverpool to commemorate the 170th anniversary of Cunard starting services from the port.

Helen’s feedback was a great reminder of why I invented the Gloven. I absolutely adore cooking. Sometimes I just do not get the time to do more experiments with food but I can honestly say I rarely cook the same meal twice. Helen mentioned baking bread. Well I do bake a fresh loaf every Sunday mainly because I have a bit more time. I also use my Gloven oven glove when taking the bread out of the bread maker as the bread machine can be very hot. It is very good for lifting the loaf out and then with the other hand you have hold of the very hot metal bread container. I sometimes make the bread with fresh yeast but I have to say I have cheated this weekend by buying a mix. The speciality breads that you buy from the bakery are not a patch on what you can do in the bread machine. I have a really good cook book from Marks & Spencers and it has some great bread recipes, including all the speciality breads that are so popular now. They are really easy to prepare and as long as you have some good strong bread flour in the cupboard and some dried yeast then you are good to go. I have tried the fresh yeast which you can always get from your local supermarkets free but I am never sure about the quantities to add. So if anyone has used fresh yeast for a bread machine please let me know the weight of quantities.

This review is from: Pair of Gloven Heat Resistant Oven Gloves – Hot Pink – Large

Bought these in early March 2010 and have used them every day of the 5+ months since then. They are tremendous and I haven’t had any of these awful back of hand and wrist burns since I got them. You can even wear them while you are cooking. For example if you are a bread maker, you can take the tin from the oven with one hand tip it up over the other hand with which you can hold the newly baked loaf. If you have a wood burning stove and the log you want to put in the fire needs a bit of manoeuvering to get it into the stove – use the gloven! You can put your hand right into the firebox and shift the log, all with no ill effects. Because they are soft and move on with your hands like ordinary gloves they give a much safer and better grip than old fashioned oven gloves. In the past I’ve dropped oven trays because the pot holder or oven glove I’m using isn’t flexible enough.

Gloven – I’m a total convert
