Oil Sauces – Restaurant Type Dipping Oils For Tapas – Slice French Bread – Ciabetta Rolls or Dough Balls – Deep Fry small squares of bread – Dip in the following:

Who does not love going out for a meal and they deliver the best warm bread with a delicious bowl of dipping sauce? Its just so yummy and no matter how many times I tell myself I am going to be good and not eat it because its full of oil and carbs. I just cannot resist! Here you go make your own and tell me what you think…

Garlic Oil Sauce:

¼ cup extra virgin olive oil 4 cloves garlic – crushed in garlic press.

California Oil Sauce:

¼ cup extra virgin olive oil

2 cloves garlic

¼ tsp. dried oregano

¼ tsp. dried basil

½ tsp. parsley flakes

¼ tsp. majoram

¼ tsp. red pepper flakes

¼ tsp. ground black peppercorn

South Western Oil Sauce:

¼cup salad oil

2 cloves garlic

¼ tsp. dried oregano

½ tsp. ground cumin seed

¼ tsp. ground black peppercorn

To Prepare Oil Sauces:
Puree ingredients in a blender and store in a small covered jar.

You can use these oils for dipping or brush oil sauces on your rolled out pizza dough, place desired cheese, and then add your toppings. Cook just like sauced pizzas, however they may take just a little less time until done.

Christmas Gifts Countdown to Christmas and I am so excited and where I live in Woolton Village, Liverpool, where John Lennon once lived, they have gone all out with the lights and trees and it makes it look so magical and I am an adult so it must be great for children to see as well.

I do not know about you all but I love crafting and I have some fabulous gifts I am making this year that I hope will not look too home made if you know what I mean but I am trying to give them a really professional finish. The thing is when I added up the cost of making the items it probably went over my gift budget per se! So trying to craft something unique does at times have a higher cost. Why do it then you may ask? Well these particular gifts I know will not be able to be purchased anywhere else and I really like that notion. I love buying unique gifts that are relevant to the person. I also find that most of the larger stores have very similar items so purchasing christmas gifts that are unique can be difficult. I do think that our Gloven Oven gloves are a unique gift and a little bit special for that really keen cook.

My idea was borne from being fed up of burning my hands whilst cooking; fat spitting onto my hands when frying, oven glove not protecting my hand long enough whilst I get that heavy roasting tin out of the oven you all know what I mean. So I researched a material that would protect me from heat but was thin enough for me to wear whilst cooking and still be able to feel what I am doing.

Gloven is made from Nomex® by DuPont®, using fibres tested for Formula one racing wear, fire-fighters and police clothing. If it’s good enough for those guys I know that it will protect me, it has been tested and approved up to 300°C. But the best thing about Gloven is that it is also thin enough to wear like a normal glove, giving me dexterity to allow me to cook without having to take it off.

I am really proud of my Gloven; I hope you are impressed too! Not only is it a great safety product for the kitchen but it is also quite sexy to look at! So now we can cook safely in our Glovens – fry, stir, bake, roast and cook’n without getting burnt, it’s also brilliant for those cold jobs, defrosting the freezer or even the car!

I’m love’n my Gloven hope you do too!

Chicken Curry? Yes please! Who doesn’t love a lovely simple recipe to have your guests go wow delicious… Well just read on it really is just a lovely recipe and a little tip try and season your chicken 24 hrs before and marinade as it just makes the meat taste so tenderly delicious and gives the flavors of the chicken a much better taste. To give the recipe a low fat option omit the cream and add the lighter coconut milk that you can buy in most supermarkets. This really does give a lovely taste as well to the curry.

Ingredients:

copyright www.gloven.co.uk

2 Onions, cut in quarters

3 Garlic cloves

4cm of root ginger, peeled

1 large red chilli, halved, de-seeded

8 boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts

1 tablespoon of sunflower oil

25g (1 oz.) butter, salted or unsalted

1 teaspoon cumin seeds, crushed
1 teaspoon fennel seeds, crushed

4 cardamom pods, crushed

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon turmeric

1⁄4 ground cinnamon

300ml (1/2 pint) chicken stock

1 tablespoon muscovado sugar

2 tablespoons tomato purée

5 tablespoons double cream

Salt to taste

Method

Blend the onions, garlic, ginger and chilli in a food processor or liquidizer or chop very finely.

Cut each chicken breast into four pieces. Heat the oil in a large frying pan and add the chicken one piece at a time, until all the meat has been added. Cook over a high heat until evenly browned. Lift the chicken pieces out of the pan with a slotted spoon and transfer to a plate.

Add the butter to a frying pan and when it has melted add the onion paste. Cook over a more moderate heat until it is just beginning to colour. Stir in the crushed seeds, cardamom seeds and pods and ground spices. Cook for one minute; mix in the stock, sugar, tomato purée and salt. Bring to the boil stirring.

Transfer the chicken to the slow cooker pot, pour the onion mixture and sauce over the top and press the pieces of chicken below the surface of the liquid. Cover and cook on low for 5 – 7 hours.

Stir in the cream and serve garnished with toasted flakes of almonds and sprigs of coriander if you like it, I really dislike the taste of coriander so it never gets added to my curries.

HAPPY EATING and don’t forget to use your gloven oven gloves when cooking.

Oven gloves as seen on tv – Yes Duncan they had!

Well, we can certainly say that our oven gloves have been seen on TV. I can recall Duncan Bannantyne saying to me “Nola, how can you say they have been seen on TV.” As he picked up the packaging. I was like oh no here we go! You always know with Duncan that he just tries to give you one of those trick questions where you can dig a huge big hole and then he really enjoys the moment when you cough and splutter and say well actually cough cough I just put that on there. Thankfully with Gloven oven gloves we can wear this badge of oven gloves As seen on TV with pride and I managed to wiggle out of his scary questions. I even got a laugh when he said what is Gloven? It’s a stupid name? Trust me he gave me quite a few. I have to hand it to Duncan though cleverly he eliminates all the other dragon’s with his awful digging questions and then will make an offer after they have all baled out!

So prior to that time on Dragon’s Den we had been on Britain’s Best Dish with our very first pair of Gloven Oven Gloves and I am so glad to say that our Gloven has improved immensely since that time. We were then obviously featured on Dragon’s Den and I certainly know I was lucky to be shown as you just would not believe how many people do this show and do not get a mention so I consider I was lucky in that respect. Of course the PR benefit of being on a national TV show has helped my business tremendously. So if anyone is thinking should I do it or should I not well just ask yourself why on earth not and get applying if you have a really great idea just be brave & go for it. I cannot pretend the process was easy but I would consider worth it for the experience. I am still in touch with a few people that I met on the day as well which is great seeing how everyones business has stayed the course. Watch this space for a further re-design for next year 2015 to make them even better! So if you want to purchase the best and stylish looking unique oven gloves on the market today then buy now and be a happy safe cook this Christmas 2014!
