People tend to believe that dieting is a lifestyle but in reality it isn’t. Dieting mostly means lack of eating, therefore your stomach will remain hungry. You tend to give up a lot and once the diet ends you overeat to make up what you’ve been lacking.

Most diets don’t even work and if they do it’s only for a limited time. Some of them can be really dangerous and can cause severe malnutrition. Malnutrition can lead to health problems and hair loss. Also many teenage girls and even women end up developing eating disorders.

The best way to loose weight and keep it off is to live a healthy lifestyle. Don’t starve yourself and be sure to exercise regularly; it will help keep the weight off and at the same time you feel good and energized. Making smart choices will benefit you and lead you to a happier life! Buen-Provecho!

Cooking in the microwave may save you time but does it keep you from getting all the nutrients needed? Heating in general has some impacts on the loss of some nutrients in foods.

Microwave heating has an even greater number of nutrients lost while cooking. When food is cooked in water, boiling water causes some nutrients to dissolve and making it less nutritious for you. This also happens when cooking on the stove. Microwave heat is more intense when on a higher heat setting. This causes for more nutrient loss when using it.

A better suggestion would be to leave the microwave for heating purposes only and foods intended for it. Wouldn’t you rather eat food that doesn’t taste like rubber?
Feedback is great! Buen-Provecho!

When you go into the refrigerator and grab something that says it’s already expired, chances are you go ahead and smell it. Most likely if you don’t smell anything foul, it’s good, right? Wrong. There are different meanings for food labels and people should be aware of what those meanings are.

“Expiration” date means that it’s the last day food should be used or eaten. It doesn’t mean it’s good for a couple more days or a week. Would you take medication that’s expired? Think about it.

“Pack” date is a little more difficult to locate but usually found on packaged or canned foods. You might have seen it multiple times but never noticed because most are usually in code and it’s pretty tricky to read. This term simply means the date of when the product was packaged.

“Sell by” date is a guide to the retailer to know when the product should be pulled from the aisle. Retailers tend to put the freshest items in the back and the older ones in front so be sure to pick from the back.

“Use by” date is the recommended date for product use while at it’s quality peak. These dates are usually provided by the manufacturer.

“Best if used/before” date doesn’t refer to the safety of consuming the product but the best time for quality freshness and better taste.

Hopefully this is informative and will help you have an easier shopping experience! Any thoughts? Buen-Provecho!

Including fat in your everyday diet can lead to consequences effecting your overall health. It can increase triglyceride levels in your body, which are not good for you and can lead to various health issues.

Fat makes your blood thicker and increases your chances of developing high blood pressure which leads to all sorts of other problems. It also decreases the amount of oxygen into your bones therefore resulting in the destruction of your joints and can lead to Arthritis.

For those who suffer from diabetes, fat can desensitize insulin causing gluten control to be poor. Chronic fatigue is another disease that is a result of consuming large amounts of fat into your diet. It reduces oxygen that your red blood cells carry up to your brain.

Most importantly fat is the leading contributor to the USA’s biggest epidemic… OBESITY! You should exercise regularly, eat less then you burn and keep a log of what you eat. Be conscious of what how much fat you consume as it can and will save your life!

Looking forward to hearing your input, Buen-Provecho!

You know how there are “The seven deadly sins”? Well there are also “The seven bodily sins”. There are always pros and cons to what our bodies take in for just about just about everything and anything you can possibly think of. There are certain things that you should reduce or eliminate altogether because they can destroy your cells and ultimately lead to death.

1) Sugar is one the most common sweeteners and you use it to sweeten your coffee, teas, sauces, desserts, cereal, etc. Refined sugar is a concentrated poison that gradually destroys your teeth, lead to diabetes and high blood pressure.

2) Vinegar contains acetic acid which the body does metabolize but has a deteriorating effect on your liver. It also interferes with the digestion of starch and stops the digestion of carbohydrates. Vinegar also thickens your blood and ends up putting a strain on your arteries. Imagine that!

3) Salt retains water in your body and lessens the amount of oxygen that cells receive.

4) Tobacco – everyone knows it affects just about every main organ in your body. It Yellows teeth and fingers, blackens lips and leads to heart attacks, lung disease and cancer, the list goes on and on. The bottom line is tobacco kills and chewing it won’t help either.

5) Alcohol is a deadly weapon. It leads to many deaths as a result of drunk drivers, liver failure and many other health problems. It also limits the oxygen going to your brain cells.

6) Coffee/Caffeine is something that just about every single adult consumes at least once a day, commonly to start off the day. Caffeine based beverages contain substances other then just caffeine. These substances affects your body by changing your heart rhythm and contribute to loss of sleep and possibly effect the central nervous system. Caffeine is very similar to nicotine.

7) Illegal Prescription and over the counter drugs are the most deadly, I think. They alter your mind and most of these drugs have major side effects that can result in death. It affects everything in your body. Even the legal ones tend to mess with something else in your body while “fixing” the main problem.

I would like to hear your thoughts on this posting. These substances are so commonly used in everyday life and yet are so bad for you, more than you care to know. Buen-Provecho!
