While the Volt and the Ampera share similar technology beneath the skin, on the surface they are visibly different and they are going to be sold in very different markets. That means that many new parts and even vehicle performance parameters, such as emissions, have to be designed, developed, calibrated and validated separately to ensure that they meet the legal and consumer requirements of the European market, which can be very different from the conditions prevailing in the U.S.
Chevrolet is a European leader in LPG technology and is growing this business in more and more markets. Although we cannot give you an exact date as of when LPG-driven Chevrolets will be available in the Czech Republic, we can confirm that the local (Czech) Chevrolet organization is intensively working on developing a local LPG program.
That is a very good news for us who want our next car to be an E-REV or an EV.

Since I have known something about the Ampera I decided that it will be my next car if the price and performance are adequate. ... and if my Astra or my Corsa may bridge the gap until the Ampera is available for common people like me.

If I may ask a question, why does the Ampera need extensive testing while the Volt has been (and is) thoroughly tested at Warren Michigan ?

Anyway if the production date is fixed late 2011, that means at least 2 years and a half or three years before it would be in the dealerships. And competition is building up ...
I was interested in your press release on LPG which included:

" Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) – Advantages at a Glance

LPG is environmentally friendly!
LPG has no lead-based additives and only low emissions of pollutants and soot particulates.
It has a 80-90% lower potential of ozone and smog formation.
LPG is also environmentally friendly in terms of fine dust.
It has 20% less CO2 emissions than gasoline."

The 20% seems optimistic (10-13% is usual) - is thre any testing or science behind this claim?
We launched the new Chevrolet Cruze with petrol and diesel engines across Europe this spring and are very pleased with customer and media reactions. Italy will be the first market to add an LPG version to the line-up in the fourth quarter. Chevrolet is very successful with LPG in Italy. Two thirds of the cars we sold there in 2008 are LPG-capable.
