I was commenting the other day the presentation of this device by Mr H. Demant on "Driving conversations" blog.

Here is the comment lightly adapted :

"Thanks Mr Demant, the innovations you announce are very interesting for the security of all.

What I was wondering is if those innovations will be reserved for upper class cars.

By the times where gas and diesel are very expensive, I think (and sometimes observe) that people tend to buy smaller cars. For instance, I could have bought a Vectra two years ago but instead I bought a Corsa. This was because I anticipated the ever increasing gas and diesel prices and was a little environmentally conscious. The Corsa completely satisfy my needs except that I would have liked to find a a similar list of options as for the Vectra or the Astra. I understand some cannot put in such a smaller frame but it would have been interesting to have automatic light control, better seats, remotely foldable mirrors, etc.

It is not because it is a small car that security and comfort must be forgotten.

The same holds for the E-Flex architecture. For instance, I would be very interested in an E-Flex Corsa, and I am less interested in an E-Flex Vectra or Insigna.

I got an answer from Mr Demant, you may find it as comment #3 here :
Thanks for your reply Mr Kempf.

I have always liked the interior designs of my three successive Opels.

And when I am in another car than an Opel I always find than mines are better (of course I never drove a Rolls Royce nor a luxury upper class car of other makes but I don't need such cars,I prefer my Astras and my Corsa).
Well spotted! You've obviously studied the first-released interior pictures of the new Opel/Vauxhall Insignia carefully . Yes, Insignia will feature an electric handbrake as an option. We'll be releasing more detailed information on the innovations to be found in the Insignia closer to the launch at the London Motorshow. Expect other great features and surprises.
Being an advocate of the slogan "let's get out of oil as soon as possible", I see those progresses as encouraging. I appreciate that GM after its denying of the hybridization of gas vehicles in the past is investing so much in E-REVs.
Let me insist - like I did in a previous post - on the absolute necessity to introduce such vehicles as soon as possible in Europe.
In my humble opinion, the Opel Flextreme concept car should be one of the recent concept cars that ought be transformed in a production vehicule in the nearest future.
Thanks for your attention and be sure that a lot of people think the same as I do, for example take the the number of people who are on the unofficial waiting list for the Volt on Lyle Dennis' www.gm-volt.com website.
