You cannot talk about mobile Internet software in China without hearing mention of Sky-Mobi, the Hangzhou-based powerhouse that was the first mobile Internet company to list on the NASDAQ. With over 2 billion cumulative app downloads and a customer base that is the envy of all other players in the Chinese mobile Internet space. With more than a thousand employees and 400 million customers in China and 10 million abroad, SKY is a force to be reckoned with.

This year’s G-Startup competition saw a remarkable 100 applications hailing from 19 countries. All of the participants gave their best pitches, and the caliber of their startups made it a tough decision for our judges Plug and Play (USA), China Accelerator (China), and Innovation Works (China). The results reflect what they saw as the most competitive and thought-provoking prospects. We have a breakdown of their choices below.

Interview: Naveen Tewari, CEO of InMobi

Naveen Tewari, CEO of InMobi, will be speaking at GMIC 2012 this year which has us excited. I had the chance last week to ask Mr. Tewari some questions about himself, InMobi, and what he is expecting to see here in China. If his responses here are a prelude, interviewing him on stage at GMIC should be quite insightful in regards to the industry's current situation.
